In Short: stay away.
The short list:
1) They do not honor appointments you make after registering and getting a confirmation!!!
2) They are extremely patronizing and unfair at the first call.
3) They are unprofessional at best, deceptive at least...
What happened: After setting a hold on a car to test drive it and potentially see others, I got a written email CONFIRMATION from the sales person, Dan Elliot, introducing himself and confirming the time for that day. That was sent at 9:11 AM. Prior to that, I got an email confirmation to the specific car I placed a hold on.
Four minutes later (recorded on my cell) Dan called me and introduced himself, and confirmed the details of the appointment, including the car. I took the opportunity to ask him if they actually have the car on the lot. He said yes, and that he is placing a hold card on it as we spoke. *****Then he asked me "why are you interested in getting this car (make and model)**** his tone implied that I shouldn't have been...
I responded that I really don't feel that I need to explain that; he sounded sour. Sensing that he seemingly has an issue with my choice (can you believe that?!) I added that if he is instructed to try to dissuade potential customers from certain cars, then he should know that I will not waste my time on listening, and I have done my research and am interested in this particular car. Period.
***** Then, out of the blue, he goes "unfortunately, we are busy today, and will not be able to accommodate you at 10:30 (my confirmed appointment slot). I can try to find out who can help you, later"
Did he mention any of this before: NO. Did he confirm the time on an email: Yes.
Do I suspect my unwillingness to divulge my "reasons" to want to shop for that car and standing my grounds had anything to do with this: Absolutely YES!
Could he be trained to "interview and drop" potential customers who don't appear an easy prey (i.e. putty) and on top of it are interested in cars they don't make loads and loads of money-most likely.
Does it border on bullying the customer: you bet! The axiom here is "if you don't tell me what I need to know and show that you are not going to be easily persuaded- I cancel your appointment"
I also suspect, in hindsight, that they might not have that car on the lot, and that is the problem. Instead of saying it up front and rescheduling, they lie and get in a disgusting tangle.
After speaking with Dan, I spoke to the sales manager of the day; Anthony Alamido. Who dared to reiterate that "they are extremely busy today, with people lining up from the morning" I reminded him that they sent an email confirmation (which I have of course-timed) but he went on to explain their "process" which I won't bother to write here. I related to him that Dan, did NOT mentioned anything about not being able to honor the appointment time and had he done that, first thing, I would believe that it didn't have anything to do with his inquiry my refusal to divulge personal choices, in regard to shopping for a car. But it didn't. If I come down there, Anthony said, he will "try to find who can help me on the floor" -REALLY! they have my location (at registration) and know I will need to drive some good distance to come to Oxnard. Now, why would I want to place my self at their "WAITING GAME"???? No way!
***Read another yelper account named Bob G. from about 11/2015 and 05/2015 Having the customer wait, and wait is their specialty. Good for him to leave this rotten place- and thanks for writing about it!!!!
As of special note: Anthony repeated the "I want to Help you" fake mantra. I explained to him {and to any crooks out there} using it: No, potential customers do not need your "help" and you are not there to "help". You need to be professional, honor your commitments, and conduct yourself in good faith. You have the merchandise for sale; we, the customers, are potential buyers. I didn't need your "help". Don't solicit it (you are a business not a help center-you know you are) and don't patronize me. But, hey, you did "help" me not spending my money in your establishment- I cannot imagine how much better things would get had I taken the time to WAIT there!!!!!! read more
