But this went smooth from the time we picked a car ( it helped to know exactly what type of car we wanted- which they had), to the crunching of numbers (no hard sell here), and finally to the signing of paperwork (amazing how organized and efficient they were). It certainly helped that we were not "upside down" for once with our trade-in. But still the whole experience lasted about 2 hours- pretty good by car buying standards. Give a lot of credit to Will, the sales associate who took care of us. Will was professional, thorough, courteous, and most importantly, not pushy at all. My daughters and their friend went in today a had a horrible sales person assisting them his name was Alfredo. He unlike Susan was rude and unprofessional, treated them like kids that had nothing better to do on a Saturday, then to look at cars. Little did know that all three are college graduates making close to 6 figures right out of college. He clearly presumed that these girls couldn't afford or qualify to purchase a car on their own. I been to this location more than 2 times. What bothers me is when I am conducting business and I show up I gotta finish with someone else who doesn't know anything bout me. I didn't like how it wasnt discuss that insurance needs to be 500 deductible. All of that needs to be discussed prior to my arrival espeically after I explain that I didn't want to be there hrs on end with a baby. The finance app online was easy and bringing in the proof of everything was smooth. My only complaint with process was not explaining insurance. Strict guidelines they have to follow. Buying a car can be a process that gives you anxiety just thinking about. It's that way for me at least. Walking onto a car lot and being swarmed by hungry sharks, high pressure salesman, haggling over purchase price and interest rates, and then getting beat up by a closer who tried to up-sell you on 100 different "packages" and warranties. My experience at CarMax was just the opposite. It was relaxed, when I got there to check out the car I called on it was already pulled up front and ready to go. My salesman Ruben Ybarra was friendly and knowledgeable. Once I decided to buy the car there was no pressure to buy maintenance packages or warranties. Ruben gave me the numbers on an extended warranty and when I declined that was the end of that. When I went to sign the final docs there was no pressure there to buy anything further. The documents were explained as I went and the process took no longer than 15 min. I had an excellent experience and I love my car and would definitely buy another car at CarMax. read more

We came in to purchase a used vehicle after purchasing a brand new Chevy Suburban that ended up being a major lemon. We had a Sequoia shipped from Irvine. They held it for us a bit longer due to our lemon Chevy having to go back into the shop. Marcella was keeping in contact with my husband. She was amazing. Professional, easy to talk to. We weren't planning on purchasing, just looking because we still had the Chevy and didn't want to take on an extra payment at the time. We ended up purchasing the Sequoia and the warranty. I was amazed at how fast and easy it was, especially because we brought all our 6 children and, well, bringing them anywhere is chaos. After driving the Sequoia home, we noticed the alignment was off and the DVD player didn't work. We contacted the service department. Our Service Tech, Chris, was amazing as well. I guess you can request a Service Tech, I would recommend him 110%, he was referred to us by a friend and he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We got a car loaner, they balanced the tires, resurfaced the rotors and replaced the DVD player a day sooner than expected. They really went above and beyond to get the car back in order for us. I wasn't expecting much from Carmax...any car buying process after what we went through with our suburban. But the crew here at CarMax really made an impression. Went in yesterday to get a free appraisal for my car. Immediately was greated my Connie. She got me taken care of immediately. I didn't make an appointment but was still in and out within reasonable time. While waiting for the appraisal she was very nice to talk to, she even looked for the car we were going to buy for us to see if anyone had it near by. We already knew this Carmax didn't have it. This review is a follow up to a review I did on Google. It took me returning 2 cars to find the one I finally liked. Now the good, the bad and the ugly. The good, Car Max 30 day return policy, Roger and Tammy the 2 salespeople that helped me were fantastic! Now the bad, the second car and big problem was a 2012 Murano SL. Transmission starting jerking into the next gear after only 5-6 days. Got a service appointment that was for 2 weeks later and given rental car. Was notified the day after appointment that the transmission needed to be rebuilt. I asked who was doing the work and I was told it was an outside shop that had already rebuilt the SAME transmission recently and that it was under the outside shops 12 month 12,000 warranty. This info was from the their own Car Max service department records on this Murano. I looked on the Car Max website found the car, looked up the AutoCheck report then went to the service/repair section and found no mention of the transmission rebuild. Couldn't believe it, I talked with a manager and asked why this information wasn't presented when I bought the car. I asked him wouldn't you want to know if the transmission was just rebuilt? Isn't that relevant to me making a decision to buy this car? Of course it is! Of course I returned the Murano and now that the transmission has been rebuilt twice you certainly can't sell this again. The manager was very apologetic and told me the Murano would probably be sent to auction being it's a problem car then helped me with the purchase of my final car. Now the ugly, 2 weeks ago I see the 2012 Murano back up for sale on the Car Max website. Now the AutoCheck lists me as the second owner and no mention of a transmission rebuild in the service history. I call Car Max corporate and talk with a customer representative and tell her this story and ask why the information on the transmission being rebuilt 2 times is not listed anywhere so their customer can use that information to make a decision on the purchase of that car? She told me they would open a complaint and investigate and get back to me in 24-48 hours. Received my call back today 2 days later and was told they reviewed the return of the car and found no paperwork on any rebuild of the transmission on AutoCheck and that the car passed their inspection to put the car out for sale, case closed. I asked him (different person than my first call)what about their own Service Dept records that show the transmission being rebuilt twice and don't they have a responsibility to be transparent and inform the customer? No answer from the representative. I then asked if he had a sister that was a single mom with 2 kids and needed his help to find a dependable car from a reputable car dealer wouldn't he want to know the transmission was recently rebuilt TWICE? No answer from the representative.... We consider this case closed now, he said. Im concerned about the next person who buys this car doesn't have the the information being withheld from Car Max to make their own decision, maybe they'd be ok with the car, maybe they'd buy the MaxCare protection plan, or maybe they wouldn't buy it. Car Max you're not letting your customer make their own decision and that is WRONG! I also have a sister and I would be pissed if 4 months after she bought that car the transmission blew up and I found out the true service record on this car! Then looking at $2500-$3500 to repair it This car is now for sale in Palm Desert Ca, beware, ask questions 3-6-2023 update 2012 Nissan Murano SL with 91,000 miles is now off the CarMax website altogether now. I was selling my car private party but wanted to get an idea of what the CarMax experience is like... I didn't know you needed an appointment for an appraisal, but Sergio helped us out nonetheless. He didn't seem too interest to talk to us, but I'm sure it's standard for them to sit with their clients. We hung out and walked their lot for about 20 minutes while we waited for my offer. It was about $1000 less than what I thought it was gonna be and $3000 less than what I actually sold it for, but I knew that it was going to be less than what I wanted going in anyway. I'm a pre-owned manager at another dealership, so I know what MMR is and what cars similar to mine were selling for at auction. CarMax definitely makes it easy for the consumer to shop multiple cars and brands, however, I would recommend sticking to CPO vehicles at franchise dealers for a used car as I've noticed that CarMax prices are sometimes the same or higher, without the included CPO warranty. read more

He was honest and straight forward with us the entire time. He quickly gained our trust and business. After a fun time joking around with our new friend we decided on a Highlander. I bought a Subaru BRZ from Carmax January 2020. After 10 days of ownership the motor blew. Carmax took forever to replace had blamed it on me and finally after nearly 2 months fixed it for it to blow up again. After this happened several times. And the manager SAL argued with me I finally decided to speak to lawyers. At which made the managers upset because they had sold me the vehicle with the blown engine. All I have to say is this is the second frs/brz that I have owned. And it's the 4th within my family. This was the first and only brz I've dealt with a blown engine. The fact that they have sold me once again a second car that it's engine was blown just angers me. Poor business they don't care about the customer and I even had a homie working on my car that told me all the details as it was being worked on. Also had another family friend who worked at Subaru where they also tried taking it to who gave me the low down on what carmax was tryna screw me over for. Have yet to get my money back. Saw some cars I was interested in and walked back in to get some help. Amazing buying experience! Susan Conti was the BEST sales person ever! We never have been to a Carmax and hate walking into dealerships normally. As we walked in my wife saw the sea of sales people helping clients and instantly said "screw this" thinking we where going to be swarmed by pushy sleazy salespeople. Instead before we could turn around to walk out Susan promptly greeted us and we cautiously said we are here just to look....lol famous last words. She was VERY friendly and VERY personable which eased our used car salesperson anxiety very much. After looking around we where surprised at the fair prices but they didn't have an Escalade or 4wd full size SUV so she went on the computer and found one in stock not in the lot. It was not accessible at that time so we said we will come back in a few hours. When we came back Susan had the vehicle all ready to test drive. We really liked it but had no intentions on buying it and she said no problem I can hold it for you for a few days if you want to think about it and come back monday. I was in shock at the ZERO presure sales and I said lets see if we qualify. It took literally 5 minutes to find out that we qualified for a very competitive loan especially give our credit was severely damaged from the economy crash 10 years ago. Needless to say we bought it and tbe whole loan process was the fastest best experience EVER.!!! Taylor the loan doc girl was very FAST ,THOROUGH and friendly. She is young and a full time student but is on top of her job!! We had two cars at the dealer so they cleaned and gassed up the vehicle while we ran home. Susan's shift ended 2 hours earlier so she went home but said to ask for Christen. When we drive up Roger promptly greeted us and introduced us to Christen. He delivered the vehicle to us with a giant bow on the hood and showed us many of the features. I will say the buying experience was amazing and we did bring it back for a warranty item where the service department give us the same service. They gave us a loaner car and she followed up with us and kept us very informed throughout the time it was there. When we picked up the vehicle it was cleaned and gassed up again!! We took our car in for an appraisal, twenty minutes into the process three employees approached us to inform us that there was an accident in my vehicle. The employee hit another employees car while test driving my car. They apologized several times and let us know they could continue with the appraisal process like the car never had an accident, or they would repair my vehicle, or they would buy it from me. Since our vehicle hadn't been in an accident we didn't want to own a vehicle that's salvaged so we allowed them to purchase it from us. They didn't pay off our loan even though our car was in good condition and the difference was less than $400. After hours at the dealership I informed the sales manager they needed to purchase a replacement carseat for us since ours was no longer usable since the accident. They asked me to take the lane vehicle they were allowing us to use and go purchase a new one from Walmart and they would reimburse us. After this experience we didn't feel buying a car from them would be in our best interest since they hadn't handled this situation very well. A few days later we returned the loaner car and picked up our check for the purchase. They informed us they would mail our carseat check. Fast forward to today almost once month later still no reimbursement check. My husband reached out to the general manager to let them know since this accident was their fault we would need them to do something to help us into another vehicle. The GM did nothing to assist us. What a POS dealership. Broken every policy they established. They put a car hold for some young customer, who told them he was buying the car from them with cash. I was told that the car can be reserved for up to seven days. Well, I contacted them after that seven days, and was told the car was on third extension, which by their policy seven days it the max they can hold a car for one specific customer, but since this was cash purchase they decided to extend and extend and extend for this guy. I guess this guy is either begging, selling his jizz, or selling drugs (not fast enough) to come up with a cash to buy GT350. If I could give zero stars I would. Went in to try to test drive a car like we used to do. We got there and the sales person wasn't great, but wasn't bad either. Kept getting up from the table to talk to his coworkers, like he wasn't really interested in our business, but ok not a huge deal. Apparently now to test drive a car you have to show proof of insurance, which I've never had to produce before so I had to go home to print it out. Figured while I was at home I would just make an appointment online to test drive the car to save time. I got all my paperwork ready, made the appt online, received multiple texts and a phone call prior to my appointment (a little annoying but not a deal breaker). Got to the dealership in Murrieta for the appointment about 5 minutes early, checked in, and they said someone would be right with us. Stood there, walked outside for a few minutes, went back inside to wait, no one came over, called or texted to say they were ready for us. We left after standing there for about 20 minutes. We told them we were leaving and the customer service person said he was just waiting for a salesperson to become available. What the heck is the reason for the appointment if they are not going to honor it? Definitely will not go back to this location! Ever! I'd rather go deal with the salespeople at a normal dealership, than deal with the salespeople at this dealership. Save yourself the trouble and go to any other car dealer than this one. read more
