Our dinner turkey leg and sides

We booked a 6:30 PM reservation for Thanksgiving but were left waiting until 7:00 PM to be seated. The service delays continued at the table--it took 50 minutes to get our food, and it was cold when it arrived. The serving staff seemed swamped and unsupported, so this falls on management for poor planning. It was a stressful experience rather than a relaxing holiday meal. We will not be back.

I can't believe this place isn't more expensive!! Our experience was fantastic. We didn't have a reservation for dinner on a Saturday, and still our wait wasn't very long, maybe 20 minutes. The place was dim, but it gave the building a cozy, upscale feel. Our server, Zack, was very attentive and friendly. They give you bread and butter to snack on while you wait, and the butter was very sweet. The food didn't take long to come out either after we ordered. My ribs literally fell off the bone. I loved my shoestring fries, fried perfectly and came with a side of ketchup. My family members ordered baked mac and cheese and various pastas, and they said the food was very diverse and flavorful. For a party of four, the bill came out to be less than $100, which I think is underpriced for the quality of food we had.

My choice for monthly Girls Lunch. Chicken soup flavorful. Carlyle Salad was plentiful along with the House Bread/Butter. Spinach Dip is baked and great. Calamari on a bed of veggies with dressing is incredible!! Salad with baked Salmon with Feta cheese is a MUST. Our server Jessica G is always on point with swift service. Lots of seating including a covered Patio. Parking and handicap free and plenty. Atmosphere is cozy and a separate bar area.

What a fantastic spot! The service was outstanding, and our bartender, Kelsey, was on point. We started with the Cold Brew Martini and followed it up with the Apple Cider--both were incredible! Overall, an amazing experience. Thank you! This place is a must-visit--nothing frozen, everything fresh!

I would have given a higher star rating if it weren't for the surprise at the end our meal. The food and portions were very good. But when presented with with the bill after our meal I examined the charges and noticed an "ADMINISTRATIVE FEE" at the bottom of the bill. I called the server back and questioned the "ADMINISTRATIVE FEE". She explained that the management has added a fee to the charges to cover credit card charges for those who use credit cards/plastic to pay for the meals. I asked if this "fee is charged to everyone regardless if they pay cash or not. The server informed me that it's their practice to add on the fee to all "checks". I told her that I was paying cash and I'd like to have the "ADMINISTRATIVE FEE" removed. She took the "check " and removed the fee and brought back an adjusted bill. It would have been more acceptable to be told ahead of ordering that there's an additional fee for the convenience of using plastic when it comes to payment verses being sneaky about it and trying to slip the fee in unnoticed. To all who patronize Carlyle Grill, buyer beware! Check your itemized bill prior to paying and either bring your hard earned cash with you, go somewhere else, or realize that the convenience of your plastic card comes at a cost.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Made a reservation on a beautiful Sunday afternoon thinking it'd be busy. However, at 2:30, there were plenty of seats in the dining area. We chose to go to the bar area (just our preference) where it was more relaxed and our scene. TVs had golf on, which was also nice. The bartender was so attentive! Made us yummy drinks and prompt on our food order. Happy hour also started at 3! For our gluten free peeps, they have GF pizza, burger buns, AND pasta!!! Can't wait to go back!

Really enjoyed dinner at Carlyle Grill! Started with the Shrimp Cakes appetizer, which were somewhat like crab cakes but with big juicy whole shrimps. These exceeded expectations! Generous amount of shrimp, well seasoned potato/vegetable batter, very tasty. Served on a bed of spinach to feel ~healthier :). Half rack of ribs was really big, very tasty! Though some small parts of the rib rack were a little overcooked/tougher, overall this was yummy and tender. Side of mac and cheese was WAY bigger than expected, and so decadently cheesy with a crispy cheese layer on the bottom AND broiled cheese on top. Greek salad was also huge and good! Overall, very filling and decent value with the portion sizes. We left very full and with plenty of leftovers.

Carlyle Grill saved us on New Years Eve by seating 9 people without a reservation. We'd gone to AA to play pickleball in the afternoon - but then decided to stick around and have dinner. Someone called Carlyle and they said they could fit us in. So 5 stars right there. Service was great - our waitress was friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was really good. The spinach artichoke dip was excellent. I ordered the pappardelle with tomato cream sauce and subbed shrimp for chicken. The flavor was good - but they used cavatappi instead of pappardelle. Minor - but I don't like thick pasta. I split a ceaeser with my bf, we both enjoyed it. The bread was also a hit. It was a huge portion, I had enough for 2 more lunches at home. I think everyone else enjoyed their food too, my bf loved his pecan chicken. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was inside, when we called we thought we were heading to a bar. So bonus again. I also asked about Mocktails and she asked the bartender who gave me a few options. I choice a mock mojito. It was delicious and it was nice to have a fun drink with dinner that wasn't just water.

The happy hour deals are great. The pomegranate margarita was delicious. I recommend the sweet potato fries and the spinach artichoke dip too. The server was nice and would recommend to others. Nice outdoor seating too.

They still have Happy Hour!!! #patiolife

Carlyle Grill is a go-to stop for outdoor Happy Hour, good drinks and food. Their French onion soup is top notch. A meal in a bowl. Don't pass up the chips and salsa. My sister likes the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. The burgers are really good and don't pass up the chef feature. It's usually very good. Service kicks butt whether you're in the bar or dining room. We tend to visit the bar. Trace, Shane and Kelsey hustle for their patrons. It's a great neighborhood spot.

Had a nice first time weekend lunch here and look forward to coming back again to enjoy the yard…read more(outdoor area) and music! Looks like there are yard games and it's family and dog friendly. Sat inside which was large and spacious. Service was friendly and attentive. Got a chicken caesar wrap, which I enjoyed. The house made chips were really good - thick and crunchy. Wrap and chips were made even better with a touch of hot sauce on the side. Also shared the mini pasties. Haven't seen this on menus, and these were good! Super buttery pastry, a nice savory beef and vegetable filling, and gravy.

Ok. We've given Sam Hill 5 visits and we are done. From the first disaster at brunch to last…read morenight's ridiculousness, we are done with Sam Hill. I'm sure others like it though I'm not sure why or how. Monday night. Two adults and one kid. Service was very sweet. Husband ordered an Old Fashioned with Markers Mark instead of their well. What he got was a super sweet cocktail. Almost too sweet to drink. He said it was fine. He didn't want to fuss. Let's just move on to the food. We both were feeling like a patty melt. I asked to add mushrooms and leave off the special sauce (thousand island type stuff). What we got was a plate with soggy sourdough stuffed with salty saucy pot roast covered in cheese and onions. That is not a patty melt. I looked up the description on the menu online and it doesn't say pot roast but braised beef. I get it after seeing what was on the plate and wouldn't have ordered it if there was a picture or if it said it was saucy POT ROAST. The side salad I ordered for a $4 up charge was great. Beautiful and fresh. Even their ranch is really good. I tried to eat the sandwich but it was too salty and disappointing. I wanted a patty melt. Pot roast isn't a frickin patty. My husband powered through his. He was too hungry. The waitress offered to talk to the manager and came back to offer one of their smash burgers. I asked if it can be a patty melt on grilled bread instead of a bun. She was clueless. I ordered a burger and said just put it on the bread. It came out after my husband and little was well finished with their food. Her talking to the manager took way too long. The burger wasn't a smash burger either, it was two tiny over cooked patties. Smash burgers are thin and with crispy edges. This was not. The caramelized onion fondue cheese sauce was the highlight but at this point I was just eating to fill my belly and get out of there. Husband and little ordered the strawberry shortcake dessert just so they weren't sitting there waiting for me to finish. Idk what that rock hard shortcake was made out of but it took muscle to get thru it. It wasn't dry just very dense and tasteless. There was too much biscuit to macerated strawberries. It needed to be dunked in the syrup to get some flavor. It's was stout enough to handle it. When the bill was brought out, I had to ask for an iced tea refill. No refills were offered or given the whole visit. Total was ~$73 before tip. This is it for us. They have a nice private dining room that I would have loved to consider for our company holiday party but only if the food was better. They are consistently poor in either the execution or description of their menu items.

Had their French Dip Au Jus, medium (you get to choose). The beef was like butter, so very tender and sweet, the au jus was rich, deeply rich and JUST right. The bread served is home-made, too. AMBIANCE = 4 I have read reviews that inside is dated. I am ok with it. The changes going on in Ann Arbor. It is nice to see stability. Be thankful a place weathering city transformation and not closing thier doors. If things get renovated so do the prices. With the price of food... 2. FOOD/DRIINKS = 4 I had Salomon. Other two had White Fish. London Broil. No one had any complaints. Food was well flavored and enjoyed the meal. Beer was Two Hearted on tap. Good. Red wine was house and had robust flavor. 3. SERVICE = 5 Our server was on top of everything. Friendly. Not overbearing. Drinks came in good order as well as food. 4. BATHROOM = 4 Clean and maintained. 5. PRICING = 3 On part for the times we live in. Inflation of the last 4 years created new norms. One area that tends to change is tipping. With wages for michigan getting to $15.00 all that has to play into pricing. So I give cash tips. The whole thing of putting tip pricing on the bill. I think many see it. 1. Brussel sprout appt. $15.00. 2. Meals were $27.00. If you went with steaks things get pricey. But if one follows news the beef herds are being reduced. So days of low cost beef meals are in the past. We just do not eat out as much so when we do it is a treat. 6. OBSERVATION The bar area was full. What I liked for a Thursday night is number of trades people at the bar. Parking is adequate. Not sure what a Friday or Saturday would look like... We were seated at table near bar area. One comment was we would have choose a booth the next time. Noise level in our area was loud. 7. POINTS 20 out of 25 points out. 20 to 25 = Exceeds expectations. 10 to 19 = Meets expectations. 0 to 9 = Does not meet expections
