The stuff is OK because some of the things that are going on with this restaurant are not their fault. The hours on the door go till 10 PM. However, the lobby is closed way before 10 pm leaving you to go through the drive-thru The drive-thru is OK however, the lights on the menu are out when it is dark, making it extremely hard to see the menu. I've been avoiding this Carl's for years because of their low ratings but another nearby restaurant wasn't serving breakfast anymore (they'd already switched to their lunch menu) so I thought I'd try Carl's. It was a good experience. They took my order quickly at the drive-through and the order was correct when I picked it up and it was hot. We've been going to the Carl's Jr. in Gig Harbor for years and it has been our go-to fast food burger place when we need a quick meal. During a recent visit we were shocked when the cost for two medium burger meals and a side of zucchini chips came to over $35. This was a significant increase over typical prices. The drive-through attendant told use that they had recently become a corporate run location and prices were raised. The food was fine but we can do better for $35. We won't be back. read more

One of the better franchises in the area. Was passing through Gig Harbor and Car's sounded like a good stop. Not far off the freeway made it one of the better choices. Love the floor plan with the second floor seating and the TV on the first in the seating area. It is Saturday and it was on College Football, cool! Friendly cashier took my order with ease and food was delivered warm, fast and accurate. Of course fast food meals never look like they do on the photos, but that is expected as long as the taste is enjoyable, and it was. I have been to several locations in Pierce County and my burger patty has been dry and over-charred, this burger (Double Western) was moist and not burned. Well done! Only issue was the cleanliness of this location. First thing after any length of drive was to use the restroom and wash my hands. The urinal was not able to flush ( paper not stating to keep handle horizontal) and wet floor come in-place, but not able to flush. The waste bin was full. Yes, they are minimum staffed and it is lunch time so I will give them the benefit of the doubt, but two tables were not wiped and had trash on them from inconsiderate people who chose not to throw their trash away. Ate here with my boys on our way to a Boy Scout campout. Several minor issues and two major ones. The cashier did not listen to me and I had to repeat my order 3 times. No debit was available. The cashier did not know how to process a discount. The drive thru cashier was very short with him when he asked for help. The drive thru cashier kept delivering food to tables in the restaurant and as he was walking around he would almost yell into a headset, "Welcome to Carl's Jr." When our food arrived, it was all wrong. I ordered a double cheeseburger plain and it came with lettuce, mayonnaise, pickle and tomato. I ordered a double with grilled onions and got raw onions. I ordered two milk shakes to share with my boys but with no whipped cream. The milkshakes were just over half full. As for the two Major issues, while eating my burger I chewed into something nasty tasting and the wrong texture. It was a little round sticker with writing on it. I took it up front and asked to speak to a manager to show her the sticker in my food. I told her I found the sticker in my burger and in an irritated tone she said, "Sorry," and stared at me in silence for about 30 seconds. I opened mouth to ask for my money back and she spun on her heels and walked away. I said, "Ok well I guess I take my sticker and go home," to the space where she once stood, cleaned up our mess, warned the next two customers to check their for stickers, and left. This by far is one of the biggest disappointments I've encountered among all the Fast Food joints I've had. There was much anticipation in opening this facility - New building, two ordering stations, two floors and did I mention that everything's new? Let's put it this way, I went to the rageddy Carls Jr. in Tacoma across from Bass Pro with boarded up windows and I'm convince there were bullet holes too with Rick Ross in the kitchen, Bruce Jenner taking orders, Korean Bible study group in the lobby and your occasional crackhead using the bathroom but still delivered way better products than this place. The point is, even though its all shiny inside and out its the team running the place are the ones carrying the name. I was lucky enough that there wasn't much traffic when I decided to stop by and ordering was pretty straightforward. I waited longer than anticipate but its understandable since I order two of their biggest burgers and fries. Once done, I was handed a bag of my order and I felt that the bag was hot so I was convinced that everything was good to go. I thought everything seems to be going well but no... this is where the nightmare started. - Two huge burgers should be in separate bags - way too much salt on the fries. How much is too much? How about I'd rather eat a bag of Salt and Vinegar too much. - You call that a burger? I've had Whoppers thicker than that. So what happened was, the bag automatically ripped when I picked it up and had burgers rolling on the floor and lost half my fries. So I had fries in the parking lot and my neighborhood seagulls were so thrilled. I ended up eating half the burger and had a couple of bites of Fries. Over-all, it was a very disappointing experience. Some Joe gave this place 4 stars because its new and I have to totally disagree. You go to Carls to have burgers.. you rate the food and the service. The most I can do is two but this place deserves a 1 star. From the other feedbacks and the lack of changes implemented, my 1 star stands. I thought I could wait and see if there are any improvements from the management but I think this is a lost cause. The food is you're typical Carl's food- higher on the price then a average fast food joint- but if you get their app you can save money on that part! Not much of selection though on the soft drinks, which sucks so they could improve their! The service I had I had no problem with, very fast service- and I love their Criss Cut fries! I had been a long-standing patron of Carl's Jr until the last time I went to this one. As far as I'm concerned, they should not be allowed to use the CJ name. My favorite-- Super Star Cheese-- ended up unrecognizable. Meat looked steamed instead of grilled. Gray instead of brown. No secret sauce at all! Tomato almost green. Carl's Jr. Really? Lb of bbq sauce? When I opened them, my whole house reeked of bbq sauce from them. The single piece of wet slimy green skin is a wrap with dry fringes. "wrap is supposed to be dry, not wet and slimy, so you can hold it and eat; this is not a sloppy Joe!". Both of my sandwiches were like this. I had like a inch thick of napkins from them and had to use all of my napkins to try and wipe off the excess bbq sauce from both of my sandwiches and that is how much bbq sauce still remained on one of the sandwiches. I eat here almost everyday and, as of late, I've been receiving what seem to be pranks like this one. Lately, I keep getting sick. I wonder why? There's a person in particular that when I go to eat here, it is when my orders get trashed like this one. I think she wears glasses with short hair and a hat. Every time I come back and explain the problem, they treat me like an inconvenient a**hole and they need a receipt for proof as they helped me the day before and gave me attitude. Then say sorry but I'll give you 10% off this order and that they have to follow protocol. You're lucky I even came back! Oh, and they keep removing this review. I'll just keep making new accounts and repost it until they stop removing my review. Obviously the person in this review has access on removing reviews or it's the owners family member. This is one of the better Carl's Jr. franchises. Large, two-story building, interesting décor. I've eaten at the Carl's Jr. in Tacoma and in Ellensburg and this is better than both of them. It resembles the flavors of the original Carl's Jr. when I discovered it back in the early '70s, but still misses the mark on the intense, unique charbroiled burger flavors of back then. The Carl's Jr. burgers of today lack that intense charbroiled flavor but they're much better (at this store) than Burger King or DQ which are where we've been going since their miles closer. I had written off eating at Carl's after the terrible burgers at those other two restaurants but I'm looking forward to eating here again. The menu's loaded with fancy., expensive Angus burger variations but the tried and true Super Star with Cheese and traditional fare are good bets here. And they still make my favorite fast food chain fries. read more

And i saw an interview of the CEO of Carl's who was defending the highly sexually charged commercials they have with girls in bikinis eating burgers. I was thinking "wow, a guy who can sound this believable, when he says 'i think our ads are very tasteful and respectful' deserves to get some new business." My burger tasted okay. Unfortunately, the day I arrived, there was some exhaust fan problem, and the "restaurant" was choked with grease smoke. At first I thought that this was "atmosphere". I'd never been in a Carl's jr before. There were "double item" menus - not two-fers, just two items at a reduced price. I asked for two burgers- "No, sorry, you must get a chicken and a burger." Well, this sure isn't "Have it YOUR way" I thought. Ended up with a dinky DQ-sized cup of fries, a fried-to-death piece of ?chicken, and a 'meh' burger. NOT what I've seen advertised. They pay a lot for ads showing skanky hos in torn levi shorts, drooling all over the burgers. No idea where they found those burgers. The Hos can be found waiting tables in CA. By far the slowest service I've ever experienced! We sat in the drive-thru line for a solid 40 minutes, no exaggeration whatsoever. If there was a way to get out of the drive-thru line once you're in it, we would have left long ago. On average, it took 10 minutes to get one car through the line. We turned our engine off at one point; I even went inside to use the restroom - came back out and we hadn't moved! When we finally got to the window, they tried to give us someone else's order. Turns out they gave our food to someone who ordered inside. The only positive that came out of this is that they didn't charge us for our order after we asked if the person they gave it to had touched our food. We don't eat "fast" food often at all, and this was actually our first time going to this place. Needless to say, we will never be going to Carl's Jr again. read more

PROS: New building is interesting and seating is good. CONS: Three different times I've been there, they've been out of something important. Not like diet coke, you know, but like onion rings, chicken patties, ingredients that make a burger.
