It was a nice day on the way home from the ocean and I thought we would stop at Big Bubba's for a burger. There were a few people there on a nice day so I thought it was a great idea. What happened to Big Bubba's? I know prices have gone up but? It was just an average burger and I can't say the experience was all that great. I didn't even take any pictures which is rare for me. Maybe they were just having a bad day and I'll update my review the next time I stop whenever that is. I may go past again in the next month on my way to Shelton, but I hope the experience is better next time. I've heard some mixed reviews about Bubba's lately so I hope I have a better experience next time. read more

Decent food, bad service, high prices. I stopped here for the first time in a long time, excited to get one of their great burgers. The parking was full and there was a line at the window; not unusual. I waited my turn and when I got to the window I was told, very curtly, ok, rudely, they were not taking orders while the cooks "caught up". I asked nicely, "how long"? Answer-when the cooks TELL ME! I sat down to wait. Three minutes later, a guy walks up to the window and places an order, no problem! I ask the order taker, "are the cooks caught up"? "Yes", she answers. Nothing else. I order. Bacon cheeseburger, small onion ring, Coke, $21.03!! Food was good, as expected. Service was crap, not as expected. Price was high for a roadside burger stand. I'll think twice before returning. No reason for rude service just because their cooks couldn't handle five orders at the same time. read more

Very disappointing! I've heard for years about how good this place is. We finally found ourselves in the area so we made a point to stop for lunch. Service was fine & food didn't take too long. They have a fair amount of picnic tables to the side for eating there, however due to the noise from traffic we opted to take outs to the park up the road to eat by the water. We ordered one small onion ring, a bacon cheeseburger, a cheeseburger, chicken tenders w/fries and a chocolate malt. The onion rings were probably the best thing probably because it's one of the few things they actually make in house & don't get premade from syco. The chocolate malt was good very thick but everything else was mid, just your standard syco shit burger patties you can find anywhere. No flavor or seasoning, Oh! and soggy wet shredded lettuce. Finally got a chance to stop here, crisp late winter day luckily sun was out to eat at one of their outdoor tables (no indoor space). Was a bit shell shocked initially seeing that the daily burger special $12.50 didn't come with anything. All items are ala' cart. For $6.50 more you can get a sm. soda & sm. fry. So basically close to $20 per person. We screwed up ordering two burgers, a lg. fry, lg. onion ring, a soda & milkshake, two tartar sauce (.89 EACH!). It came to $52!!!! Cash only. After ordering all this I asked for a sm. cup of water for our dog and they actually added .25, unbelievable. Talk about nickel and diming your customers when price are already crazy. As for the food, took about 10 mins. as there were few other people. I had the Hawaiian burger, could taste the pineapple but not any teriyaki, overall it was good but without that savory sauce the burger lacked seasoning. Hubby had the special (cheddar, grilled onions, bacon) and was pleased with it. The mistake we made was ordering the large fry/onion ring. They were huge orders, enough for a family of 4. Definitely not necessary for 1-2 people. Fry's were hot and cooked well. The rings unfortunately slightly over fried starting to take on that burnt oil taste. We should have complained. The milkshake thick and tasty, tarter good. I'd given 4 stars had the prices been a bit better and rings cooked properly. I'd go back.... and just know to order the combo instead and request proper fried rings. read more

One of my favorite places in the middle of no where. The big bubba is a burger that will change your life. My buddy gets the one with peanut butter, which I can't condone but he says is very good. Ever wondered if you should stop at this very questionable looking roadside burger stand? Don't waste your time or your money. It is cash only but of course they have ATM on site for you. At the ordering window is one of the rudest, most hostile women I have ever met in customer service. I was kind, tipped two dollars, and paid $20 for the most disgusting slop of a mess they call the cheeseburger, and stale, tasteless fries. I truly can't believe how rude the old woman behind the counter was. If you hate your job that much, it's time to find a new one. A total waste of money and horrific service to top it off. It's really too bad because it's set in a great location with a view of the water and they have tables as well. read more

Big Bubbas was everything you'd expect from a roadside burger joint. Just the right amount of dirty, your very basic service level and decent food. I had the veggie burger which was good, noting overly exciting but all the toppings were fresh and the bun was wonderfully soft. My husband had their cheeseburger and it was basically the same experience. Good burger, good and fresh toppings. Your basic decent roadside burger burger. He also had a milkshake which was really good. The fries were yummy and fresh and their fry sauce was probably the best part. All you want from a fry sauce with a little garlic kick. Super yummy! Next time I'm putting that on my burger! Our dog throughly enjoyed his pup burger though! He's hard to please and he fully enjoyed himself. So bonus points for that. read more

Mediocre at best, definitely not the best burger in Washington. The patty was so thin and somehow still red. The bun was soggy and the vegetables were far from fresh. I am a sauce girl and usually order 2 for fry dipping, this sauce had some weird seasoning that almost made it taste fishy. So my fries went uneaten. To top it all off, it was cash only and 32$ for 2 simple cheeseburgers, 1 small fry and 1 soda. I will stay with the Ritz in Shelton or the Humdinger in grays harbor... I don't mind paying the money but not for mediocre. I have lived here for many years and heard mixed reviews, I personally won't be back. Just not worth it. read more

I was in Shelton for a home inspection and stopped at Big Bubba's serendipitously. I ordered the fish sandwich, small fries and a Sprite and it tasted like heaven. I asked for a jalapeño and it added a nice charcoal flavor without adding unbearable heat. The buns were nice and fluffy and it came in a nice foil wrap that made it easy to eat in my car since it was raining cats and dogs outside and they offer outdoor seating. I regret not ordering a milkshake but will definitely be back hopefully on a sunny day to eat on their picnic benches. read more

Waited at the window for 10 minutes before we knocked on the glass to see if they were open only to have the attendant yell at us asking what we were doing. Hours of service listed on the menu 7 days a week 11-8, we were there at 5. Ended up not ordering due to the unexpected rude response from the attendant. After years of driving between Belfair and Shelton saying we need to stop here sometime, we finally did. The burgers were fine, a little soggy but tasted pretty good. Not really worth the hefty price tag ($47+tip for two burgers, two shakes and two onion rings), but times are tough and this type of stop is a luxury these days so it is what it is. Drove all of our houseguests 45 minutes to a roped off driveway with a sign stating closed to the end of December. Answering machine and website both show open 11-9. TOTALLY LAME! read more

Reviews were great, so we headed that way! We got a bacon cheeseburger, Hawaiian burger with bacon and the teen got the super bubba burger(when we ordered the super burger, the woman leaded back and yelled 'fire a bubba!' Because it's so big and they need extra time) we also got friends, onion rings and Oreo coffee shakes! Let me tell you. These burgers are amazing. So juicy. So much flavor. Perfectly cooked. The fries were crisp on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. The shakes are thick! So be prepared to use the spoon for a little bit until it's straw ready. Now, the super burger. The food was mid but it was cold. I found that strange because I live about 1 half of a mile away from here.

If I could give them zero stars I would. I stood in line for 30 minutes arriving at 7pm with hours posted 11am to 8 pm to be told at 7:30 they were close and not taking anymore orders. They turned away 8 customers. It's a private owned business in a small community and I feel like that is poor business practice. I personally feel that the young teenagers working their this evening just did not want to work any longer. It is a shame that customers were treated that way. Overpriced, poor quality, deceptive pricing. The prices on the website are off by a buck a burger, they are 40% more than Pick Quick, 50% more than Frisco Freeze 50+ % more than In&Out. I passed this place dozens of times before I'd have a go at it. After reading some of the reviews some seem unfair. My burgers on both occasions were juicy, tasty and huge. I was shocked at how many fries you get. Go regular size unless you are sharing with 2 other people. As far as tipping, they deserve it and if they take it away like one person said, most likely it's because someone came up and took it out the jar. That's the kind of society we live in. If you had to wait in line, it's because it's good and everyone knows it's worth waiting for. Thanks guys! I'll be back again and again and again!
