This was an excellent experience. If I can say anything about Carlmont Lock it is that the reviews here are spot on. Mike was prompt and helpful from the quote to the finished work. He worked on 2 doors, putting in a deadbolt, a secure knob with a plate, and door stoppers. He also mentioned a key keeper that we can put our door key in for the mailman to access (our mailboxes are in the foyer). We had that installed too. He worked fast and with skill. Michael was a LIFESAVER this morning. I was about to leave for work and the lock on my front door wouldn't turn, meaning I couldnt lock my apartment. Had my id and keys stolen, so I called up Carlmont pretty late. They called back within 10 minutes and set up something for the next morning. When Mike arrived, he was incredibly kind (and sympathetic, which helps). I was surprised and skeptical when I saw all the glowing reviews for a locksmith (they usually overcharge and in my experience, have been pretty grumpy and likely to do the bare minimum they can get away with), but now that I've used Carlmont's services, I totally get it. When I first called him, I got his voicemail. His voicemail message saying that he usually returns calls in 15 minutes is true- he called me right back in 5 minutes. He scheduled me for a few hours later and came right on time. While he was working, he was incredibly nice, pleasant, and helpful. He got the job done quickly, and I was surprised by how cheap it was, considering what I've paid in the past for similar services. I recently bought a new house and needed four locks changed on three different doors so I called Carlmont Locksmith. Despite all of Mike's great reviews, I had resigned myself to the idea that this was going to be a miserable, expensive experience. I was SO wrong. Mike did return my call right away, asked some questions about the existing locks, and scheduled my service call for the next morning. He showed up on time, explained everything he was going to do to get the locks in order, and got the entire job done in less than an hour. While he was working, we talked about the locks that he was installing and about some security options for one of my doors that has some glass panels. In the end, I spent less Mike had estimated over the phone (when does that ever happen?) and he even took a few minutes to fix a small piece of loose hardware on my front door that wasn't even related to the lock. Terrific!!! My daughter just moved into her Somerville, MA sublet apartment. The landlord happened to stop by this afternoon and made her feel uncomfortable. So I called Carlmont Lock. I called up Michael around 10AM since I was locked out of my apartment. He said that he was nearby but that he could be there within an hour or so. I decided that I would do some errands, so we agreed that I'd call him back around 2:00 pm. Sure enough, I called him then and he was at my door about 15 minutes later. He told me that I was lucky that he happened to be in the area when I called, so I imagine that most people might have to wait longer than I did. He got me into my apartment and charged me about $80. I didn't think this was high for the area, and I can't complain about the price as a man like this clearly spent many years building the skills necessary to open a lock like he did for me. I appreciated that he made me show him my ID as well as a piece of mail to verify that this was in fact my address. Overall, he was very professional and a pleasure to work with. Exceptionally pleased with service. Left message about an entry door lock that would not lock from the outside. Mike was here in a very short time. He discovered that a piece of metal inside the lock was bent and worn out. Rather than just have us replace the cylinder (which would have been more expensive and would have required new keys for several people) he found a replacement part in his truck and fixed the lock. I had to call Carlmont very last minute for an unexpected lock out for my tenant, as a result of my contractor being there that day. Having just received final sign off on a renovation that dragged on longer than I would have liked, I was more that excited to change my locks and start a new chapter as a homeowner. On a Saturday at 11am, I called Carlmont Lock thinking I might be able to set something up in the next week or so. I left a message asking Carlmont Lock to call me back. Twelve minutes later, I received a call back from Mike. Within an hour and change, Mike was at my house and the locks were changed. In a market where customer service and efficiency are key, Mike delivers. He wasted no time and got straight to business, but all the while he remained personable and made the process enjoyable. It hadn't occurred to me that changing locks could be an enjoyable experience. Mike is a class act and I'm sure they don't make 'em like him anymore. I called Carlmont lock after I had another locksmith come and and work on the locks. The other locksmith bullied me and increased the agree apron price by 85 dollars after he lost one of our keys because he had his car stolen. I was very nervous about our safety after this locksmith came into my home. Mike was courteous, punctual, and gave sensible and valuable advice on making my home secure, he could have replaced all the locks in the house. Instead he kept the cost down by re figuring 3 locks instead of replacing 5 locks. He also gave additional advice on getting safety lights and how make a door stronger.
