I guess if you need to buy a Mazda go there but stay far away if you're looking for a reliable used car. Now don't get me wrong, the salesperson and financing were great to deal with, it's service that's a problem. Let's start with the "150 point" inspection. Took them a week to prep the car, okay cool. We bought this used vehicle for our daughter, 16yrs old, she comes home the first evening after work and informs us one of the headlights is out. I'm sorry but when doing an inspection that should be one of the first things noticed. Then 2 days later the car dies in the driveway, now it's an unusual issue and I'll get to that later. Called the dealership up, they finally got a truck out to take it back for both the headlight and dying issue. I told them if they can't figure that out can they please take it to the mfg dealership, was told both yes and no. I ended up having to take it myself to the other dealership, even though it was under the cardinale 15day warranty I had to pay out of pocket for diagnosis, I let my salesperson from cardinale know and so far no response. Anyone can be great during the sales process, it's how you react after if things aren't going according to plan. read more

We used Truecar to find a car we kinda liked. Ronnie texted me back right away. This was early morning on a Sunday. She came in (found out later it was her day off) to show is the car. She gave us the best service I have ever had while car shopping. She talked with us as a friend not a salesperson. She made us feel very comfortable and wasn't pushy. Seems like a sales tactic, turns out they don't make comission. Every single person we walked by greeted us were so nice and knowledgeable. We will be buying our cars from them for life. read more

We went to purchase a vehicle and initially we were very impressed and happy with the process. We were told and the finance manager even used the word "guaranteed" they would be able to get us a lower rate than we pre-qualified for. A week later I get a call that I need to come in to sign yet more paperwork, only to find out that the rate went significantly higher because of the "year of the vehicle" purchased. It was a 2014 that was just 4 years old. When I got home I also realized they moved/changed numbers in the paperwork. Will be refinancing somewhere else and canceling all the add ons they inflated afterwards. Never buying from this dealer again and would suggest others don't either! They appear having great customer service but are your normal shady dealership that people hate dealing with!!! read more

Came in yesterday late in the day around for 515p looking to purchase a part. I waited around 25 mins for the parts person to come to the desk. The cashier and service personnel were very nice and helpful. When the parts woman came she seemed less than thrilled to have to help. Was more worried about her phone and the game she was playing. When I asked about the part she was rude. The part was only $9 and I decided to go elsewhere to order it. If it's such an issue to order a $9 part, I can't imagine buying a $30k car. This dealership is the worst I've ever been to. They will strong arm you and WILL NOT NEGOTIATE for used vehicles! Even with cash you are ready to hand over. Cash and financed prices are the same. All prices and fees are set and they will say that they have no power to negotiate and that they are making no money off this deal...what a bunch of lies. They pulled us in by appropriately pricing a used car for $6k, but with all their added fees it was an extra $2k! I'm not paying 33% more for fees-the bulk of which are their dealership fees that are non-negotiable. They are blowing me off when I'm trying to find out who my lender is and get the cleaning and buffing of the car that was promised to me done. The manager of the finance area has a horrible uncaring attitude when it comes to things that are their fault. There are not enough words to explain how bad these people are. DO NOT buy from them. If you like the old-time experience of going to a car dealer and being regarded as prey by a male-dominated sales force, Cardinale Way Mesa is your place. Customers who let their guard down here get burned. I bought a vehicle from them, and was lied to on at least 3 occasions that I know of. The vehicle was detailed to hide signs of abuse and a horrible interior stench, and needs hundreds of dollars in engine work (so far). They claim to not sell vehicles with mechanical problems, but actually do sell vehicles with obvious damage, and mechanical issues. They claim vehicles are inspected for function and safety, but on non-certified vehicles, won't say what was inspected and what, if anything was wrong or if it was fixed. I was given a verbal amount for the value of my trade, then found the figure on the sales paperwork was lower. Also had my own financing, but they insisted that I also apply there in case of any trouble--resulting in another credit pull. The final step in the sale was the "Finance" office, where they push additional appearance options and expensive service insurance from a 3rd party vendor. Hard lessons learned: ANYTHING the staff says is worthless, unless it is in writing. Any customer needs to have their own mechanic check the vehicle before purchase. Never trade in a vehicle. Don't sign a single piece of paperwork before the bill of sale with the final price is presented, and there are no discrepancies. The paperwork process is staged so that the more important documents come after the sales pitches. Many car dealers will present a Carfax report instead of AutoCheck. AutoCheck frequently has info that is missing from a CarFax report. ALWAYS be prepared to cancel the deal and walk out. read more

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!!!!! I bought a used 2006 Honda Odyssey from these folks with high hopes that this would be a great experience. They boast a "Christian atmosphere" because I guess it's owned by Christians. What a joke! My husband and I had just had our 3rd baby and our Nissan Versa wasn't cutting it size wise. So we bought the Honda. In the Last 12 months we have had at least $4000 in repairs and it's not over! Now we have an electrical issue and who knows if we will ever be able to track down that mess. Needless to say we were taken advantage of and are very, very dissatisfied with our experience. Now we are stuck in a van that is unreliable with 3 babies. Such a shame. If these people are going to rip off a family with a newborn they will rip off anyone. The only positive was that the service manager tried to "help us" by reducing the expense of putting a new AC unit in the vehicle 6 months after we purchased it. I know that there are risks with buying used but we were stuck with a total LEMON! A list of things that have gone wrong: in 12 months Replacement of AC compressor, alternator, battery, tires need replacing, bad automatic doors, power steering, and now some kind of electrical problem no one seems to be sure of. I really wanted to like this place and for it to be "our place" to buy cars but that just wasn't the case. So, so, so disappointed. WE WERE SWINDLED!!!!!! read more

I have purchased two Mazda vehicles from this dealership. I feel that many Mazda models are the best vehicle for the money on the market. I urge you to check out other car manufacturers - to compare. So, if a person likes a Mazda vehicle, the issue is ---- who to purchase a Mazda from? In the past, I had horrible experiences purchasing vehicles from other Mazda dealerships. I found that they will often match other dealership offers; however, at the end they charge you for unnecessary add-ons and extraneous fees. Thus, you pay more. In the past, I didn't know I was ripped-off, because I was tired when I closed the deal. Now, I am prepared to walk out of a dealerships because of a inflated final price that was not exposed (this is common). CardinaleWay does NOT do this; the price they quote is what you pay and their quotes have always beaten other Mazda dealerships. They want your return business and referral. So, I travel over 30 miles across Phoenix to visit CardinaleWay in Mesa when I want to purchase a Mazda. I worked with Wayne DeLeo (highly recommend him) at this dealership. My Mazda CX-5-touring is a great vehicle and my experience at CardinaleWay Mazda was superb! read more

I bought a car from them, then the guy I bought it from was fired and I got emails and phone calls every day for weeks asking me if I was interested in buying a car. If that wasn't worrisome enough, I went to a closer dealership for my first oil change (which was supposed to be covered in my warranty) and I found out, not only was it not covered, someone had entered it in the computer wrong. When I tried to clear this up and called, Cardinale hung up on me. Called back and was forwarded 5 times to people who told me conflicting stuff about I had to be further than 50 miles away to use a different dealership, how it only worked if I went to their service dept or just went straight to voicemail... left a message, never heard back. **Edit: After this mess I started going to More Mazda in Tempe - they cleared everything up, fast, friendly. I am just now writing this review in response to seeing all of the negative reviews (which seem to be much older). My experience was great, and unlike any other car buying experience. I have absolutely no regrets, and would recommend CardinaleWay Mazda, and Madison Spaid especially, to any one that knows what they want (and is willing to wait, if necessary) and wants a positive car buying experience. They won me over! Here is the long version of my story: This past July, I bought a new Toyota Corolla using a broker, a choice I regretted immediately and will never ever repeat. Within a month, I was rear ended on the freeway (traffic was stopped, but the person behind me met my bumper at 50+ mph) and my beautiful black beauty was totaled. I was still recovering from the last car buying experience (as well as having 2-3 doctor's appointments a week to recover from the accident), so I waited until September to try buying another car. I was in a rather unique situation (credit report still showed I had a loan for the Corolla, but, of course, I didn't physically have the car), I had little to nothing for a downpayment (since I had just bought a new car less than 2 months prior), and the trade in I had available was upside down about $3,000. I decided to create a form email to send to different dealerships to explain my situation, provide as much information as possible, and make it very clear I wasn't going to play the "Come on down and we'll waste your time for 4 hours" game. After all, they send out form emails all day long. I thought it would help me weed out the really bad ones - and it did! I discovered the Mazda5 (we call it a "microvan") and wanted to see if my 6'5" husband, 4 kids, and dog (whom I'm convinced is part horse) would be able to fit in it comfortably. I found pricing on TrueCar.com and was contacted by Madison Spaid at CardinaleWay Mazda. I sent her my form email, and she actually read it (unlike 98% of the other dealerships)! She thanked me for providing so much information and offered to answer any questions and help me through the process. After getting nowhere with other dealerships that promised everything under the sun, I stopped by CardinaleWay Mazda on my way home from work to take a look at the Mazda5. I explained I didn't have much time, and would not be purchasing any vehicle that night. I was there a little over an hour, in which time my trade in was appraised (giving me $1,000 more than the other dealerships), I did a test drive, completed a financing application and had offers on the table. I didn't have to retell my story, re-explain the situation, or re-provide any information. Madison was extremely detail-oriented, personable, professional, and responsive. I told her that I wouldn't be able to do any of the deals they had proposed at that time, but that I wasn't in a hurry either, and asked about some other financing options. She said she would look into them, and I asked if she could just text me updates. She happily agreed, and over the course of the next week, I received text message updates every 1-2 days when she had a question or a new deal. After about a week and a half, they were able to assemble a package which worked for me (and was already pre-approved by their bank/financer/lender). With each communication, Madison was always positive, never ever pressured me, and was extremely respectful of my goals and preferences. Each text message started with something along the lines of, "Great news!" yet she accepted every time I said, "No, that's not going to work," with grace and newfound determination. When I went in to the dealership to seal the deal, the preliminary paperwork was awaiting my signature and my beautiful new Mazda5 was parked right in front of the dealership, ready to go. The final financing paperwork had to be drafted separately (after knowing what my elections for GAP, extended warranty, etc. were), but I was there less than 2 hours altogether. After buying my new Mazda5, I received several follow-up inquiries, and I'm a little ashamed that it's taken me this long to write a review of the best car buying experience ever, but, hopefully that will lend credence to how great it truly was - that I still feel this way 3 months later. I was very impressed by the combination of (good) attitude and resourcefulness that this dealership displayed. To me, it did feel like I had a friend on the inside advocating for me - instead of someone just looking to close a sale. Every dealership says they want to make customers for life, but this is the first one that successfully accomplished it with me. read more

Every time I get my oil changed it makes me think about Cardanale Way Mazda. I purchased my car from them back in 2006 and as part of my contract was a plan for free oil changes as long as I owned the car. However in 2010 they called me and canceled that part of the contract. Last time I checked it is illegal to violate a contract and I just wanted to let people know that they are willing to go back on there word. read more

The worst car buying experience ever!!! They wanted to buy my in great shape low mileage Mazda3. They had a new 2021 that I liked and so I made a deal with them. I overlooked the fact that their record keeping has a lot to be desired. I should have seen the red flags then. They didn't even have the mileage straight in the computer. They had the paperwork showing 8 miles when it actually had a little over 800. There was a mark in the car they wanted to buff out. So they said the car would be ready in the morning. It wasn't. I had to wait until after 4 pm. The shop messed up the paint on the new Mazda3 when they were buffing it out. It had some scratches and a couple chips in the paint. It looked awful!! They then lied to us several times trying to save the deal. Lying Mike as we call him shook my husbands hand and said he would take care of him and then backed out. His excuse was that his name isn't in the building. So if their name isn't in the building you CAN'T trust a word they say. After the 4th day of lies we told them to unwind the deal. I will never do business with them again and hope that you have the good sense to go somewhere else too. The place has really gone down hill since my previous purchase there in 2019. read more

I suppose we could have had a worse experience so I gave 2 stars. Our salesperson was very intense - putting me off instantly. Since it was my husband's purchase and he thought she was 'okay', we proceeded. I wish we had walked away. They had us return 3 times and use up two days of my husband's 3 days off for no reason. 7 hours and 2 trips the first day and 4 hours the next day. We said we wanted to run the financing by our credit union but they acted like they didn't hear us and pushed their own finance institution through. We now have to redo all the paperwork to get the much better rate with our own credit union. We specifically stated NO TEXTS and we are getting them regularly. No one was rude - they just didn't seem to value our time or wishes. A very harrowing and unsatisfactory experience. They seem to be more interested in selling cars than in their customers. read more
