Beautiful space, but unfortunately an underwhelming experience for us.
The interior is beautiful, and I was genuinely excited to try this new restaurant. Unfortunately, several things throughout the evening left us disappointed.
When we arrived, I asked if they had a high chair for our toddler. The manager laughed at the question, which caught me off guard. Thankfully, our toddler was able to sit in a regular chair, but it was not the warmest first impression.
We ordered the tableside Caesar salad, which unfortunately was another disappointment. The person preparing it seemed unsure of what he was doing, and at one point actually licked his fingers while preparing the food, which was pretty off-putting. The salad itself wasn't very good either. Our waiter didn't ask how it was and simply asked if he could take my nearly full plate away.
My husband ordered an entree that he really enjoyed, but unfortunately mine was a different story. I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka and was immediately disappointed to find that the pasta was extremely hard. My husband tried it as well and agreed that it was well beyond what you'd expect from al dente pasta.
Because the restaurant was newly opened, I really didn't want to make a scene or broadcast my disappointment. I quietly mentioned it to our waiter, who was actually very nice and handled the situation well by having it remade. I appreciated that.
Unfortunately, by the time the replacement arrived, my husband and toddler had finished their meals and I was eating on my own. The second pasta was cooked much better and the dish itself was good, but at that point I only took a couple of bites before asking to have it wrapped up.
When I stepped outside to take our toddler for a little walk, another manager came over to my husband and asked about my entree. When he explained what had happened, she was very adamant that their pasta is always cooked al dente. My husband calmly explained that he cooks frequently, comes from an Italian family, and knows what al dente should be like -- and that the original pasta simply wasn't.
Unfortunately, the conversation continued into an uncomfortable back-and-forth, which was a little surprising after we had already handled the situation quietly and respectfully. She ended by saying she hoped we'd come back, but by that point the overall experience had left us feeling pretty discouraged.
I don't expect a brand-new restaurant to be perfect, and I was happy that the kitchen corrected my entree. Our waiter was also genuinely kind and helpful. But between the initial interaction, the Caesar salad preparation, the food itself, the long wait for my replacement meal, and ultimately the way the situation was handled by management, the experience just didn't justify the prices for us.
There is definitely potential here -- the space is beautiful and the food we did enjoy was good. I just hope, with time, they work on the service and management side of things. For the prices, we unfortunately wouldn't choose to return based on this experience. read more
