Caravan Grill is, hands down, the best Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food in Tucson. Excellent service, excellent prices, family owned, and a clean dining space. The falafel is crispy on the outside, soft of the inside - best I've ever had. Portions are a good value. The drinks are super cold and the ambiance inviting. I was driving by and it looked like they were finally open. I stopped in for a taste, since I live in the neighborhood. I decided on a chicken shawarma plate. It was moist and flavorful with a tasty garlic sauce and perfectly cooked meat. The restaurant was very clean and service (counter) was attentive and friendly. I grabbed a freshly baked Turkish naan bread on the way out. There's more seating than before, so next time I'll stop in with the fam--the boy loves good hummus! read more

Very nice addition to our Tucson's fav. The service was very friendly and our food was quite good. We got the kabab and chicken sandwich with a side of fries. Both sandwiches were very good, small portions but just enough for us. The fries are the reason I didn't give 5*. Ours were cold on the one side of the basket and very hot on the other side. Made us think they were microwaved. We didn't want to send it back so we just didn't eat them and enjoyed what the restaurant is actually specialized in: middle eastern meats and flavors. So delicious, fresh, and flavorful! Add to that such friendly, nice service and it's a total win for you! I've eaten here many times, and it's ALWAYS excellent. I've eaten pretty much everything on their menu at this point, so just know that if you like Mediterranean food, you'll love Caravan! If you've never had it, and want to try it, this is a great place as the food is authentic, made in-house, delicious, and they'll be happy to help you decide what to try. Very, very nice folks! No matter what you order, it'll be freshly made to order, so it's not instant service like a fast food joint, and it's not a long wait, either. There's also a bakery so you can get freshly-made Middle Eastern breads and pastries. You will not be hungry after you're finished; their portions are big and the food is filling. Plus, it's so damned good that you can't stop until you're too full! They have a little indoor seating, but with Covid and our now-mild weather, you can sit outside at one of their concrete picnic tables. We ordered the Chicken Shwararma plate for $9.99 and it fed both my friend and me ample portions. It came with a delicious long grain yellow tinted rice, pieces of herbed chicken, and a salad with delicious dressing. I wish there had been a little bit of baba ganoush or hummus on the plate, plus some of their flatbread, but, alas, not so. The couple who run it are very friendly and welcoming, and do a good job with the small space and kitchen. read more

I stopped by and had a falafel plate....it was outstanding! The falafel was warm and fresh, the hummus was smooth, tasty, and all was plentiful. I was also completely satisfied with the salad on the side... crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, tons of Persian cucumbers, and a perfectly herbed dressing. My first visit to Caravan Grill was sadly not great. Caravan Grill took over Zaatar's space. The restaurant interior feels brighter, with nice new chairs and tables, otherwise not much different in layout. The menu is not too different either; they even had a lamb shank special, just as Zaatar used to have. Sadly, my meal fell short of my Zaatar experiences. I ordered the chicken schwarma plate (again something that Zaatar served). There were 3 ways in which it fell short. First and foremost, the chicken was terribly dried out. (Zaatar's chicken was always so moist!). Second, the plate, which I believe was the same price as Zaatar's, lacked pita bread. (Zaatar's bread was distinctive, made on site). Third, the portion overall was smaller than Zaatar's. With the Zaatar plate, I always had to take some home; not so with Caravan Grill's plate. I'll try again, but dang, I wish Zaatar had not moved out! Their bread alone was worth the visit. read more

Everything we ate was fantastic! We shared a veggie platter, chicken swarma salad and gyro platter. All of the food was fresh and high quality with delicious spices. When you walk in, the smell of fresh baked bread and pastries make your mouth water. Although it's counter ordering, the food is made at the time of order and takes about 10 minutes.
