They credited the diagnosis fee to the service performed which is nice. They offer a decent warranty on their work. They are also flexible to offer parts options to help lower the total cost of repair. They say all of their techs have senior experience, and they were able to get my car in quickly- some other garages have wait times of up to a week. I checked their hourly rates, they are in line with other garages I have used in the past. They seem to have a very smooth and efficient system set up, they handle a lot of cars with the large garage space they have, and they do a good job communicating and providing updates. Convenient location for South Austin customers. They even sent me a follow up message after the repair- that was a first for me! I would recommend this garage for service and repair work.

Hopefully you find a good quality mechanic with fair prices, transparent with their findings, and can work in a timely manner. Auto Tek checks all those boxes. We took my son's 2012 Honda Civic for a maintenance visit. They found several things that needed attention (battery, brakes, bearings, etc.) Twenty two year olds can be responsible, but they don't always recognize when there's a weird noise, or the alignment is off. We got 2 pages of repairs done and it was a little under 3K. Yep, it's a lot, but still less than buying a new car and he will get a couple more years out of this car.

Two years ago, they replaced the bumper on my Toyota Corolla. That bumper recently detached entirely during a road trip. When I asked them to cover the repair, they declined, citing the two-year gap. A separate auto body shop that inspected the damage confirmed the failure was due to the use of aftermarket parts, despite the fact that I was billed for dealership-grade parts. When I raised this, I was told the failure must have resulted from other body work done on my car in the interim, calling me a liar. There is no record of any such work. The only service on my vehicle since has been routine inspections. Monica Guerra and her staff have been dishonest throughout this process, and I'm deeply disappointed in how they've handled it. $2000 to fix their mistake.

I was assured they would do a full inspection and would let me know of any findings. I gave them some time to reach out to me, but never heard anything, so i called a couple weeks after bringing my car and was told they're still trying to find the issue. I had no problem waiting, but i was getting 0 communication. I called again for weeks and finally heard back Mid July that my car "has suffered some kind of catastrophic failure resulting in very low compression.... In any event it is going to require major engine work or replacement of the engine to get the vehicle going again." As devastating news as that was, I understand this is what professionals of 20+ years said it to be and as someone with 0 experience trusted. Once my car was ready to pick up my bill was $848, far from the $300 i was quoted. I then asked why my bill was so high & I had thought the inspection was $300. They told me due to all the testing and time, my bill came out to that. Mind you, I never once was communicated about the car needing further testing and if I could approve that. Now time passes, I look for engine replacement quotes. The person recommended in lockhart is about $15-$30k to swap & rebuild. Unfortunately, it's was too over budget for me, so I list my car for an insanely low price knowing the new owner will need to replace the engine. A lovely couple purchased my car & lord behold FIXED the engine in less than 48 hours. The new owner noticed the piston rings were stuck and got the car running again. Mind you, this is someone that learned how to work on cars from home & fixed it himself at his home garage. Not only that, they called Ben's before purchasing to get an idea of what was wrong, & Ben's told them the same issues they told me + also said that I did not want to pay for further testing on the car. Which is completely false & quite literally lost me my car, thanks to their "diagnosis". It is beyond me why these "professionals" couldn't communicate properly, all it takes is a phone call. Or properly diagnose my vintage Mercedes when this is supposed to be a speciality of theirs. Maybe it's my fault for trusting them as a mechanic.
