He had a mix of defensiveness , liability avoidance , and not a real diagnosis. He test drove my truck hard to avoid reproducing the problem, he asked me 3 times if I'm a mechanic and if I can work on transmissions, he was trying to size up liability risk. He handled it poorly. My transmission has a hard1+2 shift handles under normal /light throttle . He should've driven the way I described and knowledged the symptom right away. Instead he tried to dismiss it under heavy throttle (bad test method) then backed out once he knew I've been working on it. My truck drives fine on highway speeds, has no slipping, no burnt fluid or metal, issue is isolated to shift timing/pressure. That strongly supports valve body/hydraulic issue, not a full transmission failure. Bottom line he handled it poorly. I wasn't asking for a rebuild, just a diagnosis . Felt like they didn't want to deal with anything that required real trouble shooting.

I informed Ken of my situation with my vehicle, what I had been through and without resolution. I also informed him that I have had multiple opinions on my vehicle and then received a referral from Vintage Iron, which I am grateful for. Ken advised me to check my tranny fluid first, something so simple yet overlooked all the time. Ken was on spot on! My tranny dip stick was sticking out 6" (and it does have a latch, so..whoever touched it, didn't secure it and didn't advise me it was empty, nor did they fill it!). It's a real deal mom n pop repair shop & I can appreciate their getting behind on a job so I wanted them to know I wasn't gonna rush them or hover over them. When I picked the car up it ran a little rough. No problem, the owner said bring it back & they will check it out. They fixed the issue & I did have to pay for the needed parts but no Labor. I always judge a business more on how they respond to & take care of issues AFTER your initial service or repair, and they get two THUMBS UP for that. They are sometimes unable to answer the phone so be patient if you need to talk to anyone. But April is awesome when you do get to speak to her & Ken the owner is very hands on with every aspect of his business. My overall experience was great! I would recommend KB transmission to anyone.

Came here for a quote to switch the headlight bulbs on our truck after a lackluster experience at…read moreO'Reilly's down the street (the worker there wasn't much help and actually removed a cover piece from the engine area and gave up trying to put it back, leaving the truck worse than he found it). I met with Logan for a quote immediately after calling Friendly Auto, who was incredibly professional and kind enough to spend a minute putting the cover piece back in for me since I couldn't reach it. Logan gave me a quote, saying the timing could take anywhere from half hour to an hour due to different pieces needing to be removed to access the bulb area. We scheduled an appointment for the following day to get the bulbs replaced. The next day, Eric (manager) helped me get situated. With the service ending up being under a half hour of labor, he ended up reducing the cost of the service due to it being quicker than expected (which was honorable). You don't always see that kind of honesty in the auto service nowadays and it was greatly appreciated. We will definitely be back here and we're pleased with the service provided!
