I've lived downtown forever and work in the business and had NEVER been in to this spot. Today, a friend and I decided to wait a few minutes for a table which was so worth it. Crab cake appetizer is outstanding and the staff was above and beyond. During this pandemic, so many places are suffering and it was so nice to see them abiding by guidelines with smiling faces and we never felt uncomfortable. Knowledgeable staff and they even made a cocktail I had seen on an IG post which they no longer advertised. This adorable little eatery on Chatham's main drag caught our eye for some lunch (party of 6) we were not disappointed we dropped in. We were given a 20 minute wait time and were sat in no time in spacious comfortable seating on a brick courtyard. Our server Kiaja was was warm, welcoming, beyond efficient and professional. The house made Bloody Mary's with bacon were delicious . Our orders ranged from breakfast burritos, to sandwiches, burgers and salad. Everyone was honestly beyond thrilled with there meal, even surprised (only because the menu offers fairly "standard" fare) with the quality and execution. Fresh quality ingredients across-the-board, perfect proportions assembled, dressed and presented with care. I personally choose to get the house made potato salad side with my sandwich and it may be one of the best potato salad I've had (don't tell Mumsy). Worst meal we had in Chatham. The experience started off awkward, we walked in around 5 and there were about 4 staff members standing in the small restaurant... no one greeted us, they looked at us and we looked at them, then I looked at the "Please wait to be seated sign." This went on for 3-4 minutes before someone asked us if we wanted a table. We ordered 2 beers, the clam chowder, and the coconut shrimp. The clam chowder was watery and bland. The coconut shrimp was good. We watched food come out of the kitchen for other tables- it all appeared to be pre-packaged frozen food from a restaurant supplier. I say this being a Floridian who worked in one of those touristy seafood restaurants that served out of towners terrible quality food. After the appetizers we opted to not have dinner, got the check and left. The service also continued to be lackluster. At first, I assumed it was because there was a long table of 15-16 people in the middle of the restaurant. But as the evening went on I noticed that other people came in and received better service, they were obviously locals and the staff knew them. This place has delicious lobster rolls and they are not just made with "filler" like other restaurants. There are large jumbo pieces of actual lobster and these taste great. Pair one of these with the Perfect Storm drink on their menu and your all set. If I ever visit back to Chatham, MA I will definitely be stopping by. read more

I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews here as we were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. We had taken a drive up to Chatham lighthouse on our visit from out of town and coming back through found this little gem situated in the main street area of Chatham. It is small, however, they were accommodating to us as they close at 9 pm and we arrived around 7:30, and were seated at their outdoor patio which was nice, as the weather was perfect. I ordered the fish and chips, which was Fried cod, french fries and coleslaw ( no idea why Haddock is rare on the coast, as I couldn't seem to find it anywhere, but Cod is just as good). The portion of Cod was adequate, fried to a golden brown and was not overcooked, and the french fries were cooked to a golden crisp. I am extremely finicky with coleslaw and how it's made. I was so pleasantly surprised that the coleslaw was so good. It had a? hint of something in it... I am guessing celery seed... that gave it a really different taste but it really worked!! If they see this review, I really want to know what they add to it because I am still raving at home about how good their coleslaw was! Our server was very nice, polite and attentive to our needs. She even offered me a small "taste" of Reisling wine as I had never had it before and allowed me to try it before ordering. Here in NY that never happens (lol). She also brought several different types of hot sauce for my husband to try to see which ones he preferred. She gave excellent service, which at times, is hard to come by in today's world. My husband ordered the grilled swordfish, scallop and shrimp platter with rice and sauteed vegetables and stated that it was all really good. He had never had grilled swordfish and was pleasantly surprised and stated that all the fish was cooked very well. He could have used a bit more rice as he said the portion was a bit small, but overall he loved his meal. I would definitely recommend this cute place if you are in the Chatham area of Cape Cod. This was our very first visit to the Cape and so far the restaurants we stopped at were not disapointing at all. read more

It's convenient and the terrace is nicely partly shaded. The stuffed quahog was very flavorful and nicely crisp on the edges, but the salad with lobster salad was poor - bagged lettuce a little too old and the lobster was all claw, over cooked and felt like it'd been shucked a while ago. Found a parking spot (score!) and this place was just up the street. We were seated promptly (lunchtime). Cocktails were very good. Our meals were all very good. Burger was delicious, fried clams app were as good as I have ever had...and I have high standards for fried clams! BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato) sandwich was yummy too. Do not eat here if you have any allergies or food intolerances. After almost being turned away because there were 7 people in our party, they changed their mind and called us back in. It is a tiny place, but that would've been a stupid choice considering the bill and tip we leave. Anyway, despite telling our server about 2 different allergies in our group, both my son and my friend had allergic reactions after eating here. The server made note of it, but it is clearly an unclean place, or they are completely uneducated about food allergies. How dangerous. It makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is if there was such cross contamination of two completely different allergens to cause reactions! Gross! Not to mention dangerous! Don't even know where to start. While the family shopped the square, we put our name in for a table for 4 and were told about 20 minutes. I waited outside and occasionally looked in at multiple open tables. About 5 minutes after I put my name in, another group of 4 put their name in. After finally sitting at our table right inside the door (that slammed every time someone opened it) We did get to have fun watching the hostess(who also has to be the owner) be rude to virtually every customer that came in. The highlight was the rude contest between the hostess and a rude guest. Hostess must have won as the guests decided to leave. I went for the lobster roll. Actually really good, a little small but good flavor. Had a bag of chips, very small bag, only 8 chips(I counted). We also had a chicken sandwich with creamy garlic sauce, except we had to ask to have the sauce after the food arrived. Fish sandwich was OK. The fried chicken sandwich was pretty good but tough to screw up a fried chicken sandwich. The funniest thing I've ever seen in a restaurant was when we ordered Cheese fries, we received a few fries with a square slice of American cheese halfway melted over the top. Really? That's the best you can do? I know enough about food to know that the Captains table is putting out the minimal effort and taking tourist money. Many better options nearby. read more

This past weekend I fell in love with the crazy cool laid back preppy vibe of the Cape. Top siders, seersucker, linen suits and Vineyard Vines. *sigh* Stopped in here for a drink and sat on the shaded patio. It was quiet and cool. Enjoyed an ice cold Sam Summer, but didn't eat. I have to say though, I appreciated the following: 1. 8 of us occupied tables at about 2pm and only a couple ate, but we weren't rushed out. 2. Having the usual New England fare I can not say this place is bad. However, what I can say is they do not meet expectations according to their location. We ordered the lobster cocktail and the fried fish platter each for 15 dollars. The portions were very disappointing especially for the lobster cocktail. The lobster cocktail is nothing more than chilled cooked lobster dipped in cocktail sauce. They maybe gave us 1/2 a pound of lobster for 15 bucks very disappointing. The fried fish platter tasted great, but the portion size was also disappointing. 2 pieces of fried shrimp, scallops, 6 pieces of fried oysters, and two pieces of fried fish and no fries, definitely going to cost you a lot to get filled up here. We were trying to find a place to eat for dinner without hitting the bank. The seafood place across the street was on the high end and waiting time was 45 minutes. This place had a decent menu prices and immediate seating. I got the grilled shrimp and scallops with steak. My dad got the fisherman's fried seafood platter. My mom got the salmon salad. My girlfriend got the salmon curry with spinach salad. Service was fast and price was very reasonable. My mom got the bill and was surprised at what good value and good food. On a busy summer Thursday morning in Chatham, lunch was imperative for our party of 8...4 kids, 4 parents, and a grandma. After stopping at a nearby bistro, well reviewed on yelp, we found that the word bistro is code for "expensive", and there was no kids menu (hint, hint)...so off we went, leaving that one for the yentas of the world. We hit the Captains Table next, and weremgiven a table,within ten minutes. Not bad. Inside, the decor is fine...I disagree with a previous yelper, who called it tired or some other rubbish. It was fine. Service was also perfectly adequate...unlike previous reports. My crab melt sandwich was good, with good portions of crabmeat. No one complained, no one went away hungry, no one chummed. On a crowded rainy day, this was the place we could get a table the fastest for a hungry crowd of 4 kids and 4 adults. Beer selection was meager and food was ok at best. I had a bland lobster bisque (with no lobster meat) which I believe had me making trots around Chatham the rest of the afternoon looking for the public restrooms. Pros: Outdoor seating, friendly staff, never much of a wait, quick service, kid friendly. Cons: The food is bland at best, and the chowder might be the worst I've ever had. While the prices aren't too high, the food you get for it just doesn't cut it. Convenience will probable bring me back at some point, but I would never recommend this restaurant. read more

While the menu staples, such as baked cod, scallops and the fisherman's platter, are always good, the daily specials are full of flavor and fresh ingredients. The catch of the day is combined with fresh vegatables and seasoning to enhance, but not overpower, the fish. And breakfast is not to be missed; you won't be hungry the rest of the day!
