I have been coming here for at least 20 years and the food never disappoints. It's a complete shit show in terms of crowds and trying to get a spot in their little bar area. Last night we lucked out and found a little table to sit in the bar area. For any threes company fans out there my friend says it reminds her of the regal beagle. The staff is super friendly and all make a point of greeting your party by name. The hot soft bread is amazing with or without butter. We love the loaded potatoe skins which randomly come with ground beef on top. No complaints. The steamed clams were also good and come out with a fun presentation. For the main you have to try the crab legs. At $75 an order it's a pricey entree but big enough to split. The side options that come with it are super janky...sliced tomatoes or tasteless rice. You can pay for a baked potato for an extra $6-7? Corkage is $20 and well worth it because the wine options are nothing special. Be sure to try the mud pie for dessert. I gave this place a three, but I really think it depends what you're looking for. Service is solid: cute girls, lots of smiles, what could go wrong? They got the captain statue with the peg leg-- I'm in. You got several people drunk off their chair-- ambiance. Finally, the food. It's beyond bland. Prime rib was big, perfectly cooked, but just boring. The au jus tasted like water, and the horseradish was white paste. The fact that the side it comes with is rice is beyond ghetto, and don't get me started on the wet salad. In conclusion, if you want to have a few drinks and hammer a quesadilla, go see Jack. My girlfriend and I finally got to dine here. We tried twice in the past, but the wait was too long. Our kayak trip ended right on time and we showed up to Captain Jack's at 4 on the dot on Sunday. We sat in the back patio section and shared the Chilean Sea Bass (Cajun Style) and Scallops entrees. The restaurant is right on the harbor channel overlooking boats cool homes on the water. Staff was condescending and rude. We sat in the bar asked for a menu - decided on what we wanted- only to be told we can only order apps. Then why bring us a menu? LOL they said it's the "rule". Came here for my guys birthday dinner. It was both of our first time. I was looking in particular for a place where we could enjoy prime rib and crab legs and voila!! Thank goodness for Captain Jack's! It's nestled in between the marina and beach and parking wasn't so bad. We parked in the neighborhood by the beach and walked across the street. Two things to note: 1 - calling to make a reservations was a pain, I would always get a busy tone. Who has phones these days without call waiting?! Secondly, my guy was wearing a floral beach tank top and has 2 half sleeve tattoos on both arms and when we got in the restaurant the hostess asked if he had another shirt of a solid color with sleeves to change into. (Luckily he did) We both were skeptical because there were other men in the restaurant with tattoos that were exposed and they seemed to wear what they wanted. That rubbed us both off the wrong way. So beware guys, wear something a tad bit more formal instead of "beach clothes" cause they may just reject you. Now to the food! We shared the 32oz prime rib and omg that was way more than enough to eat. The prime rib was cooked perfectly, served with some rice and a salad. We also ordered the King Crab and shared that as well. The crab legs were huge and had so much meat. They come pre-cracked. Didn't have any room for dessert cause we were super stuffed. All in all the food was 5/5, the hostesses 3/5 because they came off a bit rude and the service was 5/5. Definitely check this place out for prime rib and crabs!! read more

I'm sorry I never rated you before. We've been coming here for years. It's one of the best spots in Huntington. Great date night place. There's so much ambience to talk about. I find it to be a shame to eat anything but the crab. However, over the years, I've got a lot of people who don't eat shellfish and they seem to be satisfied with the steak. The potato is as big as your head. I design my trips so I eat here first so I can live off of the leftovers for the next few days. Of course the signature dishes are amazing. Crab legs, lobster, steak, artichoke.,. But so are the backup stuff: warm bread with butter, appetizer crab cocktail, artichoke, cocktails... Just come. It's a weird shiplike low-ceiling If you order the crab cocktail, be sure to dig around and stir it up...that bottom filler isn't crappy shredded iceberg, ITS CHOPPED AVOCADO! And nice, ripe bits of it, too. Fun environment, with waterfront views. Crab legs as big as my ankle or your wrist. Staff is super nice, even if you bring in an asshole client who tries to make it bad. They overcame and stayed on-point, without humiliating my idiotic client who began eating the fingerbowl and yelled at the staff because it tasted like hot water and lemon. read more

Let's get to the point, crowded, small tables and the crab legs were not giant crab legs they were just regular king crab legs they were very good. I usually take more pictures but I was so underwhelmed by the crab legs and the horrible table I got I just wanted to get out of there before I passed out. The service was very good except The table they put me at was so small. I could barely move my elbows. I was up against the wall. My bill was $135. I felt like I couldn't get out of there quick enough. I actually had a small panic attack. I never had one before I thought I was almost having a heart attack. I didn't finish my crab and went back to the hotel. I wish they gave me a better table to start off with I told waitress I didn't think this was going to be big enough and sure enough it wasn't felt crowded and very uncomfortable. Ruined my dinner. I have been coming here since the time Jack Haley was alive and playing on the Lakers. Its been some time since I have last ate here. Things have not changed. The service as always is top notch and the food is always delicious. Order: Steamed Clams: Pretty cool how it comes in a little kettle pot, and I love to dip their hot fresh bread in the broth. King Crab legs: Always so delicious and meaty. Prime Rib: Perfectly cooked medium rare with a nice au jus and they give a pretty hefty portion. Pros: The service is great. They work really well as a team to make sure all your needs are being met. The food is always consistently delicious. Nice views of the harbor. Nice little lounge area in the bar, I think they have live music as well. Cons: Not really a con, but more so personal preference. I wish the restaurant was a little bigger. It does feel a little cramped at times, reminds me being on a boat. The bathrooms are kind of small, except for the one in the back. Overall: I love coming here, its one of my favorite restaurants to go to when i feel like celebrating something special. read more

Not sure why, but I haven't been to CJ's in about 10 years! When I went the other night - for a 2 year wedding anniversary - we were treated like "royalty". The service is/was what I remembered; everyone was polite, accommodating and efficient. The food was beyond excellent and the menu items we ordered were prepared perfectly and timely. Lastly, it was nice to be approached and greeted like 'friends', instead of customers, with [consistent] friendly faces and by a staff of various ages. I will not be back here for that reason. Very enjoyable dining experience overall. Food was fabulous -- seared sea scallops and sea bass were perfectly prepared, flavorful and melt-in-your mouth tender. Generous servings accompanied by seasoned rice, bread, and house salad. Excellent service. They use a team approach so a server was available virtually all the time. The only room for improvement that evening was the entry and seating process. We had reservations, but they initially attempted to seat us at what was obviously the worst table in the house while many others were empty. However, when we asked for a better table they were very agreeable and moved us to a nicer spot. Why do restaurants do that? They should never seat someone at a less desirable table unless there is nothing else available. And I noticed that the first table remained empty for a long time. Very moist, juicy and thick piece of meat. Order asparagus to go with dish. 5. I can't skip mentioning the bread and butter serve when waiting for food are excellent. Bread is soft and warm, house made and you can smell the freshness but don't eat too much because you need to keep place for large portion of all dishes! Service is a little minus since some servers are very nice but some might turn down your mood. Plus point is great spot for boat parking. We went on boat to restaurant from house so it's just perfect that restaurant is located next to water. Servers gonna be super helpful with docking the boat! However, I hear feedbacks from friends that parking is a little difficult. So expect a little walk if you need to. read more

I did not believe the bad reviews about Captain Jacks, but after tonight, I am a believer. Besides the bad service, the food was terrible. I had the Prime Rib, which was reheated from the night before. All brown meat with no crispness on the outside.
