We love coming to J King Neptune to eat. In the past all of the food was incredible but this time it fell short. While the pasta was delicious and fresh the fried seafood was lacking. Why would you use tilapia to make fish and chips when you're on the Pacific Coast with so much local seafood to use? I mean it's freshwater fish... I had them sub more clams in the seafood plater and they were over battered and tasteless while the shrimp tasted like it was out of a box... Sorry guys, it wasn't that great. read more

This was my first visit to this establishment and I took my mother to this establishment so we could have evening rations the evening of the 9th of April 2026. We were greeted and seated. I noticed that a significant amount of items on the menu were listed as "market price." We both ordered the Fried Seafood Combo which consisted of Shrimp, Fish (Tilapia) and Clams. My mother had the Clam Chowder and Baked Potato and I had the Green Salad and French Fries. I had Blue Cheese dressing for the salad as well as dip for the French Fries. We both had "wooder" to drink. Service was very good. However I was disappointed that Pepsi was not available. My mother was happy with her meal and I was happy with mine. In fact I consider the food so good that it was worth the diarrhea that followed. Men's washroom was clean and paper towels were available... good. A musician named Dallas Moore was at this establishment for a performance. If I was to assign a letter grade as is done in school, this establishment would get an A-. read more

Just another amazing Friday night at King Neptune's! It's hot outside so this evenings menu was a bucket of Michelob Ultra. They were out of swordfish this evening so the backup plan was the soup/ green salad combo. It hit the spot. Perfect combination of refreshing and comforting warmth. The salads are very nice sized. And the beautiful thing is they're pre tossed so you don't spill 1/2 of it trying to get the dressing throughout. Dressings are home made and spectacular. The band tonight was spot on and had everyone dancing. Service was AMAZING! The younger gentleman said they were short staffed but with his hustle, you would never know. Went to a condo complex for vacation right next to King Neptunes, so we had to take our friends for dinner. For what looks like a dive bar from the restaurant, the restaurant had a pretty extensive menu. I gravitated right to the Chilean Sea Bass and I also got a cup of clam chowder with it. The Sea Bass was great, but the clam chowder was just so so. My girlfriend got crab stuffed mushrooms and fried Calamari. Crab stuffed mushrooms just ok but the Calamari was good. I would recommend staying with the fish dishes and steer clear of the clam chowder and crab stuffed mushrooms. Drinks were good and I would go there again for the fish. read more

We came here the day after New Year's Day and it was a very nice experience! It is located in Sunset beach, if you haven't been here before make sure to look out for it as it is a little hard to miss The drinks were very nice and helped set the mood for what was to come, I got a lobster tail and clam chowder, I am not a seafood person so I didn't want to add a $100 crab leg to the check and opted for the tail. The lobster tail was pretty good, maybe more seasoning but I wouldn't know since I'm not accustomed to seafood. Idid try the crab leg and can say that it is not my thing. Everyone else loved it though! I am sure they are some of the best legs around since everyone finished in no time! Waited for the bartender/waitress to check on me or ask if I wanted another beer. Nope. She was too busy chatting it up with another customer. I asked for the bill and didn't tip. Horrible service. Fresh food but not very flavorful, and also very expensive. Great service but predominantly a bar ambience, though they do have dine in booths separated from the bar area. The garlic cheese bread was good but I would have preferred it to be more toasted and more garlic. For example put garlic spread on both sides, then toast both sides, and as a very last step melt cheese on top. The clam chowder was amazing and definitely homemade! The green salad was great with a sufficient amount of dressing on it. The King Crab legs were nice and fresh. The baked potato was great. The vegetables were cooked al dente with no seasoning, as though they were plainly steamed. The filet mignon unfortunately was a wide thin cut as though they gently pounded it out. I would have preferred a tall narrow cut as that is more conducive to cooking a nice medium rare. I suggest you order your steak slightly under how you'd really like it. Also the steak had no seasoning whatsoever. It would have been nice to have some seasoning seared into one side. The lobster was nice and fresh but could have benefited from a little more seasoning. The Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc by St Supery was wonderful. read more

I'm not sure why this place is classified as a dive bar because it didn't seem dive-barish to me at all. We stopped in for a weekday lunch and sat at the bar where a couple of locals were sitting having their lunch. The bartender was cleaning and stocking, but made us feel acknowledged when we sat down. She finished what she was doing and got our drinks. They have decent wine and cold beer. Hubby and I looked over the menu and, even though we aren't fans of fried food, we decided on fish and chips since King Neptune's is known for their seafood. We were pleasantly surprised. The order came with four medium sized pieces of fish in a nice batter. It was cooked well so that the fish was not dry and the batter was not greasy. The fries were hot. They served the meal with vinegar - a must for me. We both enjoyed it very much. We also had a side salad which was much bigger than we expected and very fresh. The bar has TV's and lots of quirky things to look at while waiting for your food to come. Spend some time wandering around because you might find something interesting and unexpected. Most of the entrees are served with choice of starter: salad with homemade dressing or award winning clam chowder; fresh steamed vegetables and choice of side: baked potato, rice or steak fries. We thoroughly enjoyed the Pepper Filet Mignon, with cracked pepper, mushroom, shallot and cognac cream sauce and Shrimp Scampi with fettuccine and garlic bread. People were dressed up in green, funny hats & there was a birthday party going on with a bunch of very drunk ladies dancing, one which was showing everyone her new boob job. It was indeed very nice lol The thing to get here is the crab of course, but the fried zucchini is the bomb! Lol Burgers are also very yummy :)' There is a big aquarium in the dining room that the kids love & I have a thing for all things aquatic, so I dig the beachside decor.
