The location is fantastic and the food was great. My husband and I ordered an appetizer the burger, salmon, and drinks, and we really enjoyed everything we had. Unfortunately, the biggest drawback of our experience was the service from our server, Brooklyn. At the beginning of dinner she was great and attentive, but shortly after our appetizers arrived, the service completely changed. She stopped coming by our table to check on us, and our entrees took approximately 45 minutes to an hour to arrive. During that entire wait, she never came back to give us an update or check in. At one point, we genuinely wondered if our entree order had been forgotten. We had to stare in her direction or wave her down just to get her attention. What made the experience especially disappointing was that we could see her regularly approaching and checking on the other tables around us, while ours seemed to be overlooked.
I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday, and overall, we had a really lovely experience. The sunset view was absolutely beautiful and created the perfect atmosphere for a special occasion. The food was very good, although the menu is fairly limited and the portions are on the smaller side. My favorites were definitely the Parker House Rolls and the desserts - both were amazing! We also really enjoyed the sushi and the presentation of the dishes. The only downside was the service. At times, it was difficult to find our server when we needed something, and the service felt a little slow which was a little disappointing, especially for a birthday dinner. However, overall we had a wonderful evening and really enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and incredible ocean views. I would definitely recommend coming around sunset!
Since I was staying the hotel, it was convenient for me to eat here and what not. I had breakfast twice in a row and I have to say, I was not disappointed. I think their breakfast options are very good. A little pricey but I had purchase a voucher through a travel package so my out of pocket cost wasn't too bad. Out of everything I tried, I really enjoyed the blueberry lemon pancakes. They're fluffy and sweet. The potatoes were nicely seasoned along and filling. The view is gorgeous since it's right in front of the ocean.
Came here on a Sunday morning for brunch at 10 AM and were seated quickly by a very friendly server. The outdoor seating is perfect if you're looking for that idyllic SoCal waterfront vibe. Our server was attentive in getting us started and we had drink orders going in the first minute of sitting down. The food is solid, probably the best "crispy" potatoes I have ever had. The real star of the show was the brunch tower which I would highly recommend as it had the best all-around offering of anything we ordered. The meats were cooked and seasoned very well and the egg bites were great. The bread plate that came with it was also awesome because we had cornbread, poppy seed whole grain, and a blueberry scone with an entire flight of jams and house-made compote. The burger was good but they should definitely kick that up to being a double. There was definitely room for improvement on service after our order was taken though. My sister-in-law's cocktail didn't come out until after entrees so she pretty much sat there with water while we all had our coffees. They ended up comping it which was a great gesture but still a bummer. We also sat for quite a while waiting for the bill and had to flag someone down. I think this is a great meeting point to hit the rest of downtown HB on a weekend for some shopping and the $15 valet parking with restaurant validation isn't bad at all considering everything you can get to in the surrounding area in the 4 hours it's good for.
We had a really good dining experience here for my wife's birthday celebration. My daughter, wife and I shared the spicy tuna crispy rice, Prime New York steak, grilled seabass and short rib fried rice. The spicy tuna was not what we were accustomed to but it was still tasty. The steak was cooked perfectly and came out really tasty especially with the chimichurri. The seabass with the Yuzu ginger broth was wetter than I like but still flavorful. I prefer a dry rub over fish which I find cleaner with higher quality fishes. Overall, we still enjoyed our meal and had some nice cocktails during our celebration.
Loved our brunch! Had the sampler tower, crispy tator tots and bloody Mary's and mimosas. Everything was PERFECT!!
My friend and I came for drinks and dinner, and even on a rainy night the ambiance was beautiful. The patio is a must, the ceiling-mounted heaters keep it warm without the usual clutter of heat lamps. We shared a bottle of wine, a soup for her, and a mushroom orecchiette for me. Unfortunately, the pasta was undercooked. Not al dente, just not cooked through. It was disappointing because the mushrooms and sauce were excellent, and they pour the sauce and soup in front of you which is a nice touch. It makes the dining experience feel more elevated. I rarely send dishes back, but this one wasn't edible. Our server, Shelby, was kind and professional and replaced it with the duck and goat cheese charcuterie at no charge. It was delicious, with generous portions. Despite the hiccup with the pasta, we had a lovely time and I'd happily return.
Nice ambiance, very clean and organized as you walk in. Love that the place is dog friendly and has a doggie menu. Good food, good service, good time.
Beautiful location Not too many vegan options though I had the beyond sausage - they seemed deep fried Also the potatoes. They were ok but could have been crispier and had more flavor The Balinese salad was ok too. There was a ginger taste to the dressing and it came with farro as well The server was really good I had the London fog as well and it was very good
Unfortunately we arrived at 7:15pm and left at 10:15pm, it was a 3 hour ordeal for my birthday dinner. I just wanted a nice, simple dinner and wanted to go somewhere different than our usual local spots. I'm very disappointed. Our server was rude and made an inappropriate comment that was completely uncalled for. After that the manager took over, he expressed apologies and said he would give us his full attention and serve our table, I commented that we might leave and go to the Hyatt restaurant and he over promised he would make things right and then under delivered. The communication dwindled at the end and the only way he tried to make it right was comping our whole meal but that wasn't what we wanted, we wanted good food, made right (I asked for my burger well done and it came out extremely pink ) our food took an hour and 20 min from time over ordering to arriving at our table. I would have gladly payed double there or anywhere else for quality food and staff. The service was underwhelming except for the servers assistant who was lovely and so helpful and was there any time we flagged him down. The manager disappeared for a while, I had to have my brother go to the bar to get me an ice water. They didn't even offer a birthday desert knowing we were there celebrating and then his excuse was that I didn't want anything from his kitchen (not my words) after sending my burger back. I even said something about not getting a desert or ice cream or being offered anything and later he still didn't ask if I wanted anything. He wasn't even very apologetic about the whole deal. I hardly write a bad review but I'm very frustrated about tonight especially being that I hardly get a nice night out and it just really made my birthday a bummer. I ended up door dashing waba grill and eating it at the table while my family ate their food that they weren't even impressed with except my 2 year old son who could eat all day if I let him, he enjoyed his burger and fries and the ketchup. It was just a whole let down and it took so long and didn't even feel like it was made right. Manager didn't seem very receptive to feedback after he comped our meal, he seemed like we were not his issue to deal with anymore after that. He didn't even acknowledge us leaving and just snubbed us basically. Will definitely not return. Sucks for a beautiful hotel and a great view of the ocean. They could make this place so much better and train their staff better.
Pretty good contemporary American restaurant by the water in HB. With a nice place like this some dishes are priced on the higher end and some are fair. Nevertheless, great spot to impress a date or relatives. Food here is pretty great too. I'd recommend the lobster Mac n cheese. Their dinner roles are exceptional as well. Service here is pretty great and I'd recommend sitting outside at the patio. It's all well heated too.
Had such a great dining experience at Lōrea inside Pasea Hotel & Spa! Let me start by saying the food was SO delicious overall. Now, for full honesty, the starters weren't the star of the show for me. We ordered the pork belly wraps and spicy pork gyoza. Both were cooked well, but in my opinion, they were missing that extra "something" maybe a dipping sauce or a bit more flavor to really elevate them. Next time, I'd probably skip those and try different appetizers. The service was great from start to finish attentive, friendly, and everything came out smoothly. The restaurant itself is super cute, and I loved both the indoor and outdoor seating options. We sat outside under the heaters, which made for such a cozy, perfect vibe. BUT the mains and sides? That's where they absolutely delivered. I had the Korean BBQ salmon and WOW flavor on flavor on flavor. Easily one of my favorites of the night. For the table, we shared lobster mac and cheese, asparagus, and whipped potatoes, and let me tell you... those sides were everything. The portions are generous (perfect for sharing with 4-6 people), the mac and cheese was rich and creamy, the asparagus was cooked perfectly, and the whipped potatoes? Smooth, fluffy, and packed with flavor, definitely a standout. We were originally hoping for the tomahawk steak, but they had run out (sad moment ). However, they made it right by offering a prime New York steak for two and honestly, no regrets because that steak was FIRE. Super flavorful, juicy, and absolutely mouthwatering. We also tried the Wagyu and sea bass, which were both delicious, but the real highlights for me were the steak and salmon. Drinks were also on point! We had an Old Fashioned, Moscow Mule, and a few lemon drops including blackberry, passionfruit, and watermelon. The blackberry lemon drop was hands down my favorite, so good! To top it all off, they brought out the cutest birthday macaroons! One tasted like Fruity Pebbles (so fun!) and the other was paired with whipped cream and raspberries such a sweet touch. Overall, while the appetizers didn't quite hit for me, the mains and sides absolutely carried the experience and are 100% the reason I'll be back. I'll definitely be returning for more steak and that Korean BBQ salmon!
Came in after seeing a lot of good reviews, so I was hoping for a little more. The atmosphere was really nice and our waiter was super friendly. The food just wasn't really my thing. Our waiter mentioned the eggs came with onions and peppers, but I didn't notice any in mine, so they tasted pretty plain to me. Seemed like most of the sautéed onions were in the beef broth instead. The texture wasn't my favorite, but that's just me. My dog's a picky eater too and he wasn't into the eggs either. I also asked for a sweet coffee and mine didn't taste sweet to me. Nice spot and great service, just not worth the price for me this time. If the eggs had actual onions and peppers cooked in like our waiter said, and the coffee came out sweet, I'd be happy to give it another shot.

Conveniently located at the Pasea Hotel & Spa, we decided to give this place a try since we were checking out and didn't feel like driving anywhere. We initially had wanted to try their breakfast but we missed it by just a few minutes! We will have to come back next time. Now onto lunch. I ordered the lobster carbonara and the kids Mac and cheese for my son. The pasta was perfectly cooked for both meals. The Mac and cheese was pretty big so we ended up taking it home for later. The view of the beach was pretty nice as well. I believe they also have live music for dinner which can be nice for a little date night. read more

It was our first time and finding parking was very difficult. We ended up parking at Pacific City and thankfully parking was free due to some special Anniversary. We had a 7 pm reservation, but at 7:20 pm, we were told there are two parties in front of us! That was disappointing, what's the point of a reservation? About 10 minutes later, we were seated because one of the party canceled. It is located in Pasea Hotel & Spa. The ambiance is great. There are both indoor and outdoor seating. The food was delicious. I like the plating of each dish, so pretty; especially my Oshizushi. I love the toasted Nori on the side. My hubby enjoyed his fish. It was well flavored and no bones! We want to return in the daytime to enjoy the ocean view. read more

Lorea offers a fantastic dining experience with its great ambiance and contemporary decorations, all while providing a beautiful ocean view. The dinner was amazing, and the service was exceptional. The cocktails were enjoyable as well. However, breakfast took a lengthy 45 minutes to arrive, and the birria burrito left me a bit disappointed as it was dry. The level of service during breakfast seemed to fall short compared to dinner. A special shoutout bartender, Chris who not only crafted excellent cocktails but also provided fantastic service when we came just for drinks in the afternoon. He also made the best Spiced Apple Sour cocktail during our breakfast. Overall, I highly recommend Lorea and the associated Pasea Hotel for a pleasant 5-star experience. read more
This restaurant is located inside Paseo Hotel & Spa (which also features Treehouse rooftop bar overlooking the beach). Ambience - As many other reviews mentioned, this was spot on. Many angles/seatings of this resturant (more outdoor than indoor of course) directly look out into the beach and when we had our dinner at 7pm sunset time the view was stunning, palm trees ocean against backdrop of a orange purple red Patagonia-logo sunset made us paused here and there during our meal to just enjoy the view. Restaurant itself is clean, modern, and very spaceous. Food - We ordered kale salad (refreshing balanced out our meat dishes, slightly saucier than expected), duck/goat chacutterie (great visual and great taste), prime steak frittes (medium rare felt a bit more like medium but still delicious), whole market fish (seabass that day with squash and lemon, tasty and filling) and the infamous parker house rolls (HEAVEN w/ beewax butter edible candle dip). I see previous reviews complained about food being bland, but our meal was tasty so I'd chart it off under they're implementing long term improvements or it's just reviewers' own subjective differences. Service - Professional and friendly service, our server Erica always greeted us with a smile and randomly checked in on us as we dined to see if we were doing okay. Very attentive water refill frequency, when our server was busy other servers were helpful in stepping in (unlike some other places where they may have you wait for your server, understandable no harm no foul but this way just feels more collaborative and supportive). In the beginning we did wait a little for the host to appear on a not full house evening, but based on the behaviors we observed it felt more like they were all very busy and might be understaffed for the day, and not idling or negligent so we didn't mind it too much. As a bonus we went upstairs to Treehouse rooftop bar after for some drinks and the lantern rustic decor went very well with the sunset beach view! Parking - Valet parking since it's in a hotel, quick hard working young staff, attentive and polite. p.s. bring a light jacket if sitting outdoor during dinner time, the beach breeze can be a bit chilly! read more

I ordered the poke, and while it tasted good, the portion was underwhelming. For the price, a few extra ounces wouldn't hurt. On the bright side, the martini was strong and well-made--great job by the bartender. Service, however, was a bit lacking. After food delivery, there was no follow-up. A quick check-in within a couple of minutes would have made a big difference in the overall experience. View was spectacular though! read more
Went to Lorea for a Christmas dinner on Friday. We sat outside under the heaters. It was nice and toasty and beautiful ambiance. They had a live singer which added to the experience. Customer service was great. Food was good. A bit pricey. We ordered the tomahawk that serves two. The sauces that came with it included pepper gravy, chimichurri, house steak sauce. I found the steak to be better without any of the sauces. Overall fun experience. read more

Yikes. Sorry. The atmosphere is cool but not worth it. Had dinner here for my birthday before heading to bungalow. The food came out cold and was tasteless. My table agreed and one of my guest found a long thick metal in her food! Omg, how terrifying. They comp'd her food. But she was disappointed the rest of the evening. We had such high hopes in this place because of the location and the way it looked. But it was not what we expected and we didn't have a good time. The staff was fine. But it took forever to get our food out. Unfortunately we won't be coming back here unless everything changes. Food quality, service, speed, attention to cleanliness, etc. There was only 2 other table there that night as well. It wasn't even packed. I'm guessing it was only one cook and like 3 staffs. Came here for Thanksgiving dinner and the food and service were both good. If I had any negative it might be the prices for the portion sizes but I guess that's to be expected nowadays. I would definitely come back to see what their normal menu is like. Also you can't beat the ocean view. read more

This restaurant is located at the Paséa hotel, next door to Pacific City. We came here for brunch. The outdoor seating is beautiful with a great view of the ocean and a love DJ. I would suggest sitting a little away from the outer edge though on a hot day. We had to move in the shade because it was just too hot. I got a matcha latte and a berry mocktail. Both were really good. I ordered the kimchi fried rice. It was pretty good but I wish there was more kimchi flavor. I may be biased though because the kimchi fried rice at Republique in Los Angeles is the best I've ever had so it's hard to live up to. My son ordered the strawberry shortcake for dessert. I didn't know it was table side! My son really loved watching the server make it. It was a really big portion and definitely enough to share. read more

I had a fun time celebrating my bachelorette dinner at Lorea. Booking the reservation for a large party was seamless. Melissa was very helpful and responded quickly in answering all my questions via email. Luckily, I did not have to put a deposit or have a set prix-fixe menu since I had two last minute cancellations. Love the ambiance, ocean front dining with amazing views and live entertainment. The restaurant is located at the Pasea Hotel & Spa. Valet parking is also cheaper than parking at the Pacific City parking lot. We paid $40 and my friend only paid $15 for valet. Staff were really nice and accommodated us on which tables we preferred to be seated. Cocktails were flavorful. I enjoyed my food, I ordered the campbell river salmon and a side of warm beets and whipped potatoes. We shared the winter burrata & toast, forgot to take a picture since it was really good. My friends also enjoyed their food, they ordered the whole market fish of the day which was the branzino, seared yellow fin tuna, black cod, fresh orecchiette pasta, and short rib fried rice. Portions were good, we had to take the rest home. It was not as busy on a Friday night, so it was easy to talk to everyone at the table. After dinner, we went to the treehouse upstairs for drinks. My friends from LA came down to visit for lunch and to celebrate their 1-year anniversary. Ambiance was top tier from the view to the light breeze - absolutely perfect. We ordered the pull apart bread, the salmon flat bread, and I had the breakfast sand which. Everything was perfect. If I had to recommend one dish - it's the salmon flatbread. One of my favorite locals spots. The food, the view and Chris, the most attentive bartender, make this the perfect spot to have a "staycation" when you live so close to the beach! I bring clients, friends and visitors to Lorea to enjoy the view, the ambiance and the great food. Chris is the bonus! read more

The ambiance and the views are very nice. There was live music on a Friday. But the food is was just terrible. Clam chowder didn't taste like any seafood. Their best item was branzino per them, and it was mediocre. I didn't read the reviews before coming here and completely regretted it. Our first server Christopher made a face after he brought out flat water when I said tap. Other servers were kind enough to help out later. Manager Kim was nice too. The views are great but maybe that's all they offer. read more
