Pros: The appetizers were really good the spicy gems was really fresh and hand a nice level of spice to it. The pork belly wraps were very delicious and the pork belly just melted in my mouth. However the pork wraps could've used a sauce on the side. I forgot ours servers name but she was so nice, sweet and, extremely welcoming. She was also very attentive and didn't have to flag her down for anything. The ambiance was also very modern and clean. The view was really nice. Cons: The sushi was not good it was definitely giving American grocery store sushi. The rice was too chunky and mushy and plain (nothing close to sushi rice.) The salmon was cooked perfectly but the taste was alright it could've used a sauce and a little more seasoning. Overall: also side not the drinks were good but I would only come back for the drinks and small bites/appetizers read more

Really, you pay for the vibe. But if you're going to charge me $32 for a burger, it should taste good. Mine really didn't and Lorea's take on sushi is meh. Not a ton of flavor in anything... though my wife really liked her cocktail. Also, our server wasn't very friendly and our food took a really long time to come out. Lastly, what is the deal with the live music. We were at a table for nearly 90 minutes and the duo played... 4 or 5 songs... were they taking a bunch of breaks? read more

Made reservations for a Wednesday afternoon (celebrating my birthday). We were tuning a little behind and we called on our way and they were gracious to move our reservation 15 min after the hour. We made it just in time. We took advantage of the last 30 min of the happy hr deals, pretty good. We had the three sushi rolls for 15 and the mint pesto burrata, with happy hour drinks. It was great! We were then seated and they let us decorate the table ;) our waiter was super friendly and did his best to make us feel special: got a glass of champagne and a free desert for my birthday! We ordered the 32 oz tomahawk steak, loved that came with mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus and Gruyère crisp (yummy) and three different dipping sauces; we paired with a bottle of CA wine. It was the perfect amount of food for the two of us. The only thing I thought needed improvement was the fact that none of the hostess said anything about our birthday celebration, only our waiter. That's very different from other restaurants we have been when everyone is appreciative you are celebrating with them. But i definitely recommend! Specially the happy hour! read more

This was my first time having breakfast here and although Jesus was very nice, the drinks and food took a very long time to find themselves to our table. When we got there, there was probably two other tables being served so it wasn't very busy. We ordered our drinks and they took 15minutes to bring to the table and overall of 30 minutes for our food to arrive after drinks. My food was warm leaning more to the colder side, I didn't eat the rest of the potatoes because they didn't seem like they were washed throughly and I honestly don't like sending food back so I only ate the meat and tomatoes. I wasn't too happy with the wait time of food or drinks but Jesus did try with his optimistic attitude. read more

Thanksgiving at Lorea was such a standout experience. The lobster mac was rich and indulgent, the cornbread stuffing was perfectly balanced and comforting, and the turkey was juicy and flavorful with a cranberry sauce that tied everything together beautifully. Add in the oceanfront views and relaxed pacing, and it made for a stress-free, elevated holiday meal done right. read more

Had to run it back. We dined at Lorea last night, and it was a hit, so why not come back for breakfast and see if it's just as good? Well, the results are in, and they crushed it again. Jaxson was helping us and was an all-star--from the suggestions to the service and his polite manners. I will be back for sure. Watching the waves crash and eating breakfast is hard to beat. Amazing food and better staff. Thank you, Lorea. read more

I wanted to like this place because the view and ambiance are great, but this experience warrants a low rating. This was especially disappointing given that we were part of a large party. I ordered the chicken and after a few bites noticed pink, bloody-looking juices and a pink bone. While I understand chicken bones can sometimes appear pink depending how it's cooked, the presence of red-tinged juices is a food safety concern. When we brought this to the staff's attention and explained we were uncomfortable continuing to eat it, the response was dismissive. We were told this was "normal" for their chicken rather than being offered an apology or an immediate replacement. The solution was finally offered to cook the same, already-eaten piece of chicken longer and they returned it to the table. That is not an acceptable or sanitary resolution, and it made the situation worse. Large parties already require more coordination, but that shouldn't mean lower service standards. Good views don't make up for poor service or how food safety concerns are handled. For a restaurant charging premium prices, this was unacceptable, which is why I would not recommend it. read more

Family of 9 reserved for afternoon Thanksgiving afternoon gathering, but my particular experience was less than acceptable. I ordered special menu short rib ravioli that came as small roll of some sort, which I asked to return, then ordered a simple smash burger, not to wait more. I waited an extended time for some reason...restaurant not fully busy, while everyone else was eating a Turkey dinners. Burger came absolutely red / raw, sent back again. So not satisfied. Least Lorea shd have done at that point was comp me on burg and/or 2 cocktails. My bill was $94...omg!!!! We had an expensive bill incl gratuity of $81. Never again!!!! Terrible Thanksgiving experience!!!! read more

I spent over a week researching and trying to find a special place to have a birthday lunch. Based on the menu, I picked this restaurant. It was very underwhelming, unfortunately. I called ahead of time and made a reservation and they knew it was for a special birthday. We did get a seat right against the glass overlooking the beach, which was very pretty and the restaurant is very pretty. But I guess it wouldn't have been that hard to get a table against the glass because there was only maybe three or four other table tables sat in the whole restaurant anyways. Our waitress came up to us and seemed nice and asked us if we wanted a drink but we literally hadn't even looked at the menu yet so I said I just need a minute to look and then she proceeded to not come back for about 15 to 20 minutes to take our drink order, which was disappointing. We waited so long before she came back that we went ahead and ordered the food and drinks at the same time because I didn't know when she would come back again. It took a long time to get the drinks. The drinks came about the same time that the food came. They only had a few specialty cocktail items available on the menu. I picked one. I did not like it, but that's not their fault. The food unfortunately was really bad. It all sounded really good, but I did not like it. The only thing that I liked was the salmon appetizer smoked salmon on a flatbread bread. The avocado toast had horrible bread, and the avocado on top tasted like spoiled avocado. And the fig and Barada, unfortunately was on the same bread that was absolutely horrible bread, and had no flavor on top. The rosemary french fries were good. I think the worst part of it though was the fact that the waitress that was waiting on us pretty much never showed up again. She wasn't even the one that brought us our food. And I had to wait probably 20 minutes for her to come back around when we were done eating and by that time I had just sent my card at the end of the table because I didn't want to wait for the check and then have to wait another 20 minutes for her to come back with that. It was odd to me because she couldn't have been that busy when she only had. What like two tables? Like what was she doing back there lol anyways it was not the best. read more

Staff are extremely rude and will ignore you if you are at the bar. I've never seen service workers treat customers this way.

I hate to do this but I hope this helps the chef better his quality of food - We came here to see the new renovation, ordered a medium well burger with no bacon. The brought a bloody burger with bacon.... They were nice and took it away so I ordered a salmon and the rice was burnt .... Unfortunately their kitchen is not doing well. The service was good and the ambiance is nice. But I would just come here to get drinks no food. See the picture how u lift the rice and it all comes up since it's burnt.... I didn't take q picture of the bloody burger. read more

Lorea - Seafood Near Me - Huntington Beach, California

Lorea is located in the Pasea Hotel and Spa and channels the now defunct Outer Reef formerly at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott in Dana Point. Both spots were cold (literally) and sterile. Be prepared, it's positively arctic inside as all the ceiling to floor doors to the outside are left open. So, unless there is a Heat Dome, bring a jacket. Yes, heat lamps outside may broil your neck but your burger will still have icicles. The Decor: Linoleum flooring, concrete, wood and glass all provide a beachy vibe. A long, long Marble Bar anchors the dining room. Pendant lights hang from a coffered ceiling along with rows of chains. Nice and comforting if you're signed up for OnlyFans and your last evening on the town involved shackles and manacles. Who's in the house? Almost no one except a few guests from the Hotel who couldn't find a sitter and a few Sales guys hoping to hook up with the Target and Walmart Buyer. Okay, it was early, but still... The Bar: A handful of Signature cocktails. It reads like the Beverage Director turned the Bar Tender loose with a Chemistry Set and the Periodic Table. There is wine and beer plus all the usual suspects. Unless you are truly adventuresome stick to the classics. Brooklyn created a nasty good Dirty Martini and offered to "dirty" up even more if I wished. Two of these and you'll forget about the cold and the overhead dangling chains. You'll be too busy dancing naked on the Bar until there is peace in the World. The Staff: Like a litter of Lab Puppies, they all wanted to genuinely please everyone. The entire team I interacted with was helpful while I moved from a table near the outside to a table under an AC unit (which only the Hotel can regulate) to the Bar where I finally made my nest. Lovely Brooklyn was positively ebullient and charming. She knew the menu cold and hot and stopped by often to be friendly and to make sure I left a happy chappy. I did. The Food: The menu was large and varied featuring Cali-Spa cuisine which all read well. Keeping it simple seemed to be the simple answer to what to order. So, I simply asked for a simple Little Gem Salad. (Think Caesar Lite) along with the Blackened Cod and lastly a Koji (Fermented Rice Paste) Aged Pork Chop to take home. The Little Gem was a big Gem piled up to my letters. The whole Gem Leaves were stacked up and lay in several dollops of Harissa Garlic Mayo with a shovel full of almost crispy Spicy Breadcrumbs on the greenery and finally a generous shaving of a young Parmesan-Reggiano Cheese to top it off. There was enough for 3 or 4 people. My take was that the entire thing was rather addictive and enjoyable. The Lettuce was cold, crisp and fresh. I should've/could've tapped out after the Martini and Salad, but then the Blackened Cod landed. The Cod arrived with a half Charred Lemon and a forkful of Baby Arugula Leaves. And here's where the Cod ended up in the weeds. The line cook troweled on a schmear of spice (Salt, Pepper, Chili Powder, Garlic Powder, Paprika and Olive Oil) onto the skin which should've been removed before introducing the Cod to the Cast Iron Pan. The result was a flaccid, gelatinous, inedible skin which had to be surgically removed which I was able to accomplish with a deft hand leaving a naked unspiced piece of fish which in all fairness was cooked correctly despite the misstep with the skin. The fish was moist and flaky but I wanted it Blackened and got it whitened. The Pork Chop was sliced off the bone which lay across the top of the mini grill on which the Chop arrived. The slices had a faint remnant of Koji taste clinging to the meat. No matter, as it was destined to be diced and sauteed with cubed Dutch Baby Potatoes the next morning for Hash which was worthy of serving to company. Considering the above and in reading other reviews perhaps Lorea should be renamed La Llorana. I might try it again if I found myself hungry and in Huntington Beach...nah, I'd probably return to LSXO up the street instead. read more

Another boujee dining experience thanks to my parent's 50th anniversary. We came here for their weekend brunch on a Sunday. Pros: valet parking (validated for discount), the beautiful ocean view (ambience), and the amazing attentive and friendly services (we got everything we wanted) and also the surroundings (you can walk around the Pacific city afterwards) Cons: the mediocre food. I was expecting more. We ordered eggs with sausages and potato: not bad but they only give you two pieces of toast so one slice of bread cut in 1/2 and charged $6 more for another two slices, chicken waffles: chicken was a bit dry on the outside and am not sure why the potatoes needed to be deep fried but the waffles was pretty good infused with bacon, kimchi rice with poached eggs: very basic and what they got us with was the "sushi taco" $5 for a tiny piece of salmon sushi that you can wrap with stale seaweed aka taco. It also comes w onions but am not sure how that's even a taco. Great marketing but incredibly poor execution. Also we had to ask for wasabi (the only good part of this dish as the wasabi was freshly made) it didn't come with and I made the mistake of taking an initial bite thinking maybe it's already included or the flavor was so strong you don't need wasabi but nope not the case. It was blend and the fish was not fresh at all. It was a complete fail and unless you've never had good sushi before, stay away. Overall: you would def come here for the ambience and service, not for the food (at least not for the brunch) read more

Fantastic! I really enjoy eating here. Food and staff are amazing! Great view, what more could you ask for?

Was visiting a friend who was a guest at the hotel. Always love coming here... love the cioppino!

Went back for dinner. Tried their Parker roll appetizer. If you haven't been before the dish comes with freshly baked chewy rolls (about 5 I believe) with candles butter which they light for you at the table. The concept is the wick melts the butter and you just slide it into the dinner roll before serving. Unfortunately we were outdoors and it was windy so it kept blowing out but the rolls were delicious. I also tried the Lorea burger with their Wagyu patty which was absolutely delicious. Very juicy and tender meat burger served with yummy freshly made thick fries. Very good and highly recommended. My friend ordered the pork belly wrap for her entree. It was a plate with braised pork belly, Bibb lettuce, cucumber, radish, pickled carrots, and cilantro which you wrap up and serve. I felt it was a little bland but tasted healthy. Not too bad but wouldn't be my first choice. read more

The vibes here are immaculate! It's right next to the beach, and I highly recommend coming during sunset. You get an incredible view of the sunset while you eat--such a great atmosphere. Our waiter was super nice and gave us some great recommendations. They also have an extensive doggy menu, which I love, so I'll definitely bring my dog next time. The drinks were not only beautiful but also delicious! For our appetizer, we went with the pork belly wrap based on our waiter's suggestion, and it ended up being the highlight of the meal. The pork belly was tender and well-seasoned, and the pickled vegetables paired perfectly with it. Even though pork belly can be heavy, this dish still felt light. Highly recommend! As for the mains, I got the salmon, and while it wasn't bad, I wasn't impressed. The presentation was lacking--it was literally just a piece of salmon on a plate. The burger was also pretty mediocre. It's supposed to be a wagyu patty, but it didn't feel like it. Plus, we asked for no cheese, but the burger still came with cheese. On a positive note, the fries were perfectly crisp and so good! The asparagus was just okay--could've used a bit more seasoning. We finished with the table-side chocolate cake, which was just average. The waiter cuts the cake in front of you and adds sauce and sprinkles, but nothing too special. I'd probably skip it next time. We were celebrating my friend's birthday, and it was a bit disappointing that they didn't offer to put a candle on her cake. read more

I don't understand the low ratings! My gosh! It's beautiful dining at Lorea and menu selection matches with the ambience. I loved every moment and flavor! Lorea Restaurant located next to the pool where you are going to discover the beautiful views of the bar to the left and the amazing kitchen to the left and wow, gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean. It's simply breathtaking and menu selection is filled with amazing bites to get excited for. My foodie bestie @irenieeweeniee and I had fun bites with the swirly park house rolls with the candle lit butter, then getting creative as we are making our pork belly lettuce wraps with the pickled veggies, next the whole fish comes out deboned, cooked to perfection in a creamy sauce. The CAB Filet also made its mark when it was grilled to perfect with maitake mushroom clusters. Lastly our last indulgence was the lobster Mac and Cheese, definitely it is a must order even if you are no longer hungry. The service was on point and the manager Pim is way too cute. If you are not annoyed with paying for valet parking, definitely worth the visit. read more

Despite having some issues getting a reservation as a hotel guest, I had a lovely dinner here! I had a very nice table with ocean view and since it was a bit chilly, the host gave me a Blanket which was such a nice surprise! My waitress was very kind and helpful In choosing a dish which is gluten free and with no cream or cheese. I forgot her name but she was so nice! I got the salmon grilled and a salad and was so fresh and delicious! The one thing I was a little turned off by was that they charged me $9.00 for flat bottle of water. It was not free and didn't tell me there is a charge! You know how you go to restaurants and they leave a bottle of water at your table to pour yourself, well this one I had to pay for. Thankfully I had a $50 dining credit and only had to pay $2.00 haha ! But if I go back, I would not ask for water bottle but just a glass of water haha The menu was very good and different options and happy there was gluten free , not much but there was some. read more

A tale of two experiences. We ate here on the 4th of July with reservations for 8 of us. My wife had a lobster Ravioli and thought it was delicious. The wife of the couple we were with had the wagyu burger and thought it was good. My manhattan was solid and so was my wife's cocktail. Our kids had the Mac n cheese and a burger. All of them were happy with their food. Where the 3 stars come from is from my food, the NY prime steak and my buddy the husband's food. Along with the waiter's overall indifference and lack of service. I asked for medium rare for a $68 12oz NY prime. It was well done on the ends and at best medium in the middle but even then for prime beef the flavor was mid and it was tough. Prime beef shouldn't be tough even at that temp. I asked the waiter what he thought and he either doesn't know steak or was lying. He said it looked accurate. I didn't want to debate or delay our 4th of July plans by having them fire up another one. The husband of the other couple thought his ravioli was bland and the appetizer a crispy rice with shrimp was a split verdict among everyone. Some liked it and others didn't. Our waiter kind of went MIA after we got our food so we didn't order a second drink. The first round didn't even come until we were served dinner. We asked for separate bills at the end but he said he couldn't do it. So we had to split it. It was an almost $500 bill. Needless to say we didn't add any tip to the already 18% included. So I definitely do not recommend the steak and for the prices this place charges the service has to be better but because some folks did enjoy their food and the view of the beach was nice I do have to give it the 3 stars. That sums it up. read more

Enjoyed multiple lunch and dinners - both large and small groups - during a 7-night stay. Nice cocktails. Friendly service.

The Lorea is located inside the Paséa Hotel which is right next to Pacific City. We made dinner reservations and sat outside in the outdoor patio. The view outside isn't all that great. It's on the opposite side of the street to the beach however you don't see the beach or ocean because RVs, trailers, and cars are parked in the beach parking lot and it blocks the view. The food wasn't bad. I ordered the Seared Scallops, which were seared and cooked beautifully. The flavors of the corn cream, bacon, and potatoes combine perfectly. My boyfriend got the Piri Piri Jidori Chicken which sadly, the flavor wasn't there. It was pretty basic and the chicken was dry. Which was a bummer because the description made it sound so mouthwatering. For appetizers we got the Parker House Rolls which were sooo good with the Turkish Chili-Lime Butter. The butter comes as a candle so it's cute when they light the candle and the butter starts to melt. We also ordered the Rosemary Fries and the Portobello Mushroom Fries. The Portobello Mushrooms fries is tempura sliced mushrooms. The dipping sauce for them was pretty good but nothing to write home about. I would be down to come back but wouldn't be bummed if it doesn't happen anytime soon. read more

Very disappointing and unprofessional experience. The host saw my dog when we arrived but didn't even put us on the list, which caused us to be completely skipped. Took my parents and brother out for dinner and we've always come across this place and I'm glad we finally came around to enjoy it! Food is wonderful and when your server tells you a menu item can be shared you better believe them. Extra care is always taken with any allergies and constantly having any of our needs met. The atmosphere is calm and easily relaxing. Only issue would be there's always people driving crazy nearby with the loudest vehicles or ambulances left and right.
