Sandy's is a great local spot for tasty food, refreshing drinks, beach views, and people-watching. The atmosphere is casual with Southern California vibes. It's also located next to the iconic HB Pier and Duke's. The food menu offers plenty of options, including popular items like burgers, tacos, seafood entrées, and more! On my last couple of visits, I ordered the Mahi Taco and Swordfish tacos. Both fish are blackened; the swordfish is mild and meaty, while the mahi is mild and flaky. The habanero sauce has good flavor with a little spicy kick. For appetizers, we enjoyed the calamari strips and ceviche. They also have an excellent variety of beverage options. House-made cocktails, wine, draft and canned beers, virgin drinks, and standard beverages. I enjoyed the Pelican Punch, Mai Tai, and Sunburnt Sunrise. Whatever spirit you enjoy, there's something to try. The staff is kind and attentive. It gets busy during the summer and warmer weather, but we haven't needed to wait for a table. There's indoor, patio, and bar seating. Pets are also welcome, and they even have a menu for the furry friends. Prices are fair for the quality and atmosphere, and I look forward to another tasty meal here. With many options to eat around the pier, I still recommend Sandy's if you're visiting Huntington Beach Pier.
Very chill and relaxing vibe! I definitely recommend the outdoor seating. It's perfect for chitchatting with friends while enjoying the amazing view. The food was good--not amazing, but still enjoyable. Service was nice and friendly. I'd come back more for the atmosphere, view, and a relaxing time with friends.
My husband and I came here to feel the ocean breeze. I had fish and chips my sweetheart had a teriyaki burger. The food was served hot and in a timely manner. The atmosphere is spectacular. We could see the pier, people watch, and enjoy the music.(which was the perfect volume to have conversation). Really clean inviting place. Dogs are allowed on the patio. Our sever was very welcoming; I just wish they would have introduced themselves. We'll be back!!
Overall I would give it 5 stars. The taco Tuesday special is great and the tacos are huge! We also got the calamari app and it was good as well. It's right on the beach which is very nice. The alcoholic beverages tasted off but other than that, can't complain.
This is a beautiful location right next to the Huntington Beach Pier. The parking lot adjacent to the restaurant was completely full, and after circling around for a while looking for a spot, we ended up parking across the street in the Main Street parking structure. We were planning to visit both the restaurant and the farmers market, so it worked out just fine. The restaurant is located directly below Duke's, which is another spot I'd like to try in the future. I actually came here because I saw their clam chowder bread bowl on the website, and I've been on the hunt for a really good clam chowder. When we arrived, the restaurant was pretty busy. I requested outdoor seating, and the host was kind enough to accommodate us right away. The patio offers a beautiful view overlooking the beach, which made for a great dining experience. For our meal, we ordered the Spinach & Artichoke Dip as an appetizer, along with the Chowder Bowl, Bikini Paddle Salad, Steakhouse Tacos, and Fish & Chips. The chowder bowl was very good. I especially appreciated that they make the chowder in-house. It was loaded with potatoes and had a rich, creamy flavor. My only complaint is that I would have liked a few more clams. The Steakhouse Tacos were delicious and had a unique flavor thanks to the addition of blue cheese crumbles. The Spinach & Artichoke Dip was also served in a bread bowl, which was a nice touch. The Fish & Chips were probably the weakest dish of the meal. According to my mom, the fish was a bit bland. However, she really enjoyed the Greek-style salad that came with her meal. Overall, this is a great spot to check out if you're spending the day at the beach. Between the ocean views, friendly service, and solid menu options, it's definitely worth a visit.
You are literally on the boardwalk. The gentleman waiter was super cool because he gave us a table that allowed us to watch the sunset. The shack is a little behind the pier so not every spot will let you see the sun set. My girlfriend and I - both got the Salmon with Cous Cous and grilled pineapple. The food was delicious. Salmon was tender and Cous Cous had a great texture. Would definitely recommend!
I wanted to eat somewhere on the beach front, so everyone was telling me "do Sandy's" and so I went. I believe there was a wait time to sit outside but I didn't care so I sat inside instead. I ordered the Mahi tacos and the tacos were tasty. I like the choice of pico that they added. The pico gives it that light taste of the fish. What I wasn't too crazy about was the choice of kale salad. It was mid. I wouldn't do the kale salad again. I wasn't full after eating my food so I ended up order fries at the end lol With my hard seltzer of course ~ oh yea! They give you a reusable drink sleeve if you purchase a canned drink.
I live in Huntington Beach and I love coming to Sandy's with my pup! I was here last night. I'm just having some dinner and Jayson my server, he gave excellent service. He was so nice and he helped me and my dog with her plate and brought her some water and was just a very kind person.. I really appreciate great service, I didn't eat last night, but I normally do and I love the Aho Poke Tower, and I love the paddleboard salad and the flatbreads!
There are a TON of places to eat in downtown Huntington Beach, but Sandy's on the Pier keeps climbing my list every time I go back. This last visit sealed the deal. Ocean view (basically on the sand), cold beers, good prices, and honestly one of the best ahi sandwiches I've had in a long time. So many ahi sandwiches are bland and forgettable... this one came out swinging. The tuna had a bold peppered flavor, the sauce absolutely carried the whole thing, and every bite had that "okay, THIS is why people come back here" vibe. The sweet potato fries were fresh and crispy, and somehow even the ranch deserved a shoutout. But the real magic is the atmosphere. Where else can you basically sit on the sand with little internal fire pits going, ocean breeze blowing, a great bar setup, tons of beer choices, and just an all-around laid back beach energy? It feels like classic Huntington Beach without trying too hard. Service was great, food was excellent, and the whole place just has that "stay another hour" feeling. Big thumbs up. High-five beach vibe all the way around. I'll definitely be coming back here a lot more often. L
We picked Sandy's specifically to hear steel drum music. They had live music on a Sunday with Danny Williams from 2pm to 6pm It was super busy. We were really happy to be able to get a seat outside close to here him. The restaurant is right on the beach by Huntington Beach pier it has a huge inside with a wraparound bar and then a smaller patio outside. Our waitress Tracy took good care of us. She made recommendations. I had the Miami Vice, which was a beautiful combination a piña colada with strawberry my husband had some cold beer. We enjoyed the ceviche although a little disappointing it didn't have any avocado even though stated on the menu. Drink some food were great if I had to give one downside, it is a 90 minute turnaround for table and listening to the music with breaks between sets It wasn't a lot of time but well definitely be back!
The view of the beach is why you visit this iconic restaurant. We had an out of town guest so it was a natural stop after a walk on the beach. The food is good but nothing special. The service staff was friendly but slow. It was busy and once we ordered the food came out fast. They allowed our pup and had a small dog menu so that was a perk of the lunch too.
When in HB and wanting a drink by the beach, make sure you stop at Sandy's! We had already eaten but were craving dessert so we shared a strawberry cheesecake. It was pretty big and greet for 3 people and oh, so delish! We had cocktails and they were all very good, nice and strong at a decent price. Their ambiance is totally casual and fun. You can't beat the views of the beach and ocean while sipping on a drink. I love that they have a small section of Dog Menu items too! Very dog friendly!
For lunch today, I've decided to hit up a beach front restaurant in Surf City (Huntington Beach) called Sandy's Beach Shack. Located in the same building where The Duke's is at, lower level. Today was Wednesday, it was sunny and cool here. I've sat at the patio area for fresh air with nice beach view and food. My first time here, the server highly recommended the tacos which by the way it's known for. For like hunger side, the burgers are highly recommended. I've decided on the Mahi Tacos which I've never actually had before. Presentation of the Mahi Tacos looks stunning with that habanero sauce aside made it even better. Took a bite of that, and it's sooo delicious. I feel it was enough to satisfy my hunger. Before I left, I've made sure to order that big o mud pie. That thing was huge and very delicious. For $13, it was very reasonable. Tacos was $20.45... Mud Pie was $13 like I said. Not bad for a beach front restaurant. Overall..... Will be back again when I'm in the area again.

I was really impressed by Sandy's Beach Shack. The view was amazing. The beachfront view, watching hundreds of people pass by, was amazing. It was so spacious, with indoor seating, bar seating, and outdoor seating. I want to give a shout-out to our server, Hope V. They were understaffed, and she was hustling every table. The menu is huge. They have a lot of yummy options. They even have a food section for dogs. It is a pet friendly place. Now let's talk about the food. The food was delicious. I had an Ahi Tuna Sandwich. It had Fresh tuna steak, gently seared, served with chipotle mayo, sliced avocado, tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, onion, jalapeños, served on a brioche bun. It was a hefty burger. I had to cut it in half to pick it up. They also have a Tuesday special. It is a choice of 3 tacos for $17.50. My partner had the sea bass taco, blackened shrimp taco, and a Baja taco. They were also big. We expected small tacos, but they were huge. They also come with a side, and my partner got corn on the cob. We expected the corn to be a little charred, but it wasn't. They also have a special drink on Tuesday. We had Ashley as our super server, she always had a smile and paid attention to details, top notch service!! I have a super beverage and a delicious local burger with Double patty added a fried egg. We don't frequent here enough. We came with the kids for an early dinner. The punch cocktail was so good. The clam chowder was phenomenal. We were sat very quickly and we had 10 people. They have tall high chairs for babies if you get sat at a high top which is very convenient. There was live music playing on the patio and lots of tvs inside to watch games. Kids loved the kids meals too. That's always a plus for my picky eaters! read more
Very fun and relaxed ambiance!! The food was delicious, the server was so patient and helpful (we had 3 kids under the age of 4 with us) and the location is amazing being right on the beach!! You can dine outside with the sea breeze or inside with the views out the windows. I loved my fish and chips- the fish had a great crunch on the exterior and was moist and fresh on the inside. Yum! And healthy! We had some time to kill before our Anaheim hotel was ready and super hungry after a plane flight. Huntington Beach seemed like a fun idea! Wandering along the waterfront path, fate guided us to Sandy's Beach Shack! They have attractive and ample outdoor seating, but we chose indoor because the wait was shorter. It was still open air, so felt like a shaded patio. Mahi tacos, calamari, shrimp skewers, ceviche, and mai tai were ordered. Every entree was fresh, beautiful, and delicious. I can't believe they can make a kale salad (side order) taste that good. We ate every bite. Loved the couscous side too. Thanks Sandy's! We'll be back some day! read more
When around H.B. Pier it's hard to decide on where to eat. There are so many places. Today I picked Sandy's. I chose outdoor seating so I could watch the beach action. Delenay was my server, and she was amazing. I love Cod, so I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the fries were nice and crispy. All the other dishes I saw looked really good. I'll be back, and hopefully Delenay will be my server again. read more

I thought this place would be gimmicky due to its beach-front-location but I was truly impressed with my meal! So dog friendly that they offer a dog menu, which my pup approves of! This is probably as close as you can dine by the ocean, the view is beautiful! Because of the nature of that, parking can be tricky. I parked in the public parking structure near the down town for free and walked over to Sandy's, but you can park closer using meter parking on Main Street. read more

Came here for a birthday lunch. Parking is tricky, there is a parking lot next to the group of establishments, but it's often filled and will cost money to park there. We ended up paying for parking across the street where there is a parking lot for a separate group of businesses, and walking over which took about 10 minutes. We got seated outdoors with a reservation. I like the wide spaces within the restaurant with a lot of lighting and sunlight shining in, and the servers are friendly and have a lot of energy. We had the ceviche and clam chowder for starters. The chowder was disappointing because there were so little clams in the chowder, it was mostly potatoes and cream. The ceviche was not bad though, and it's great that theres avocado provided. For entrees, I like that the size of the portions were pretty big. The mahi tacos have a lot of flavor and sauce which makes it less dry, but I didn't think the feta cheese goes well with the fish. Also had the beach bum burger that comes with bacon, egg, lettuce, and tomatoes. It's a little basic, but a classic good combination and a good size. Overall, I didn't have a bad experience, but the food was just ok for the price and not very creative. read more

They had a taco Tuesday deal and when I say these are some of the best seafood tacos, I've ever had, I'm not kidding! Usually with places with a view, you don't get great food but food, service and views were 11/10. Will be back for sure! read more

Location!!!! Beach front restaurant/ Bar with a lot of outdoor seating. It was on a Sunday evening around 7pm when I dine there. With reservation, it's not tough to get in but without a reservation, it might be difficult to get a table during busy hours. The food was good but the server forgot my order and I ended up eating only appetizers. it's Great if you want to hang out with friends for a drink at a beach. Such a great spot right on the ocean! Definitely sit inside at the bar facing the water and get to know your bartender. I could be wrong, but I think his name was John (sorry, I'm horrible with names! ). He recently moved from Salt Lake with his girlfriend, and he was absolutely fantastic! The drinks were amazing. We tried the Mai Thai and the cucumber drink, and both were SO good! We also ordered the fried calamari, kale salad, and ahi tuna sandwich. The calamari and kale salad were incredible--light, fresh, and refreshing. The tuna sandwich was good, although I've definitely had better. But honestly, the bartender was the highlight of the whole experience. He was friendly, attentive, and gave us so many great recommendations for things to do and what to try next. This is one of my favorite places to hang out in the summer. I've never been disappointed with anything here, but my go to is the salmon burger. I especially love coming here for drinks with guests. What a great location, right on the beach. The wait was about 15 minutes, which wasn't bad for a pretty packed place. Dog friendly patio so it was a plus for us. Their Mai tai was really good and a lot of beer choices. We got the fish and chips as well as the calamari strips. The fish was really tasty and fresh, but the matter was mid, no flavor of that part at all. The calamari strips though were delicious. For sure a must. Really disappointing experience today at Sandy's Beach Shack. We sat at the bar around 3:30 p.m. on a Wednesday, and it wasn't even busy. Unfortunately, the bartender seemed far more engaged in long personal conversations than paying attention to customers. We sat there for about 10 minutes without ever being greeted, acknowledged, offered water, or asked for a drink order. What made it more disappointing is that this hasn't been our experience here in the past. As locals, we've been to Sandy's many times before and usually enjoy it, which is why today stood out so much. We eventually left and went upstairs to Duke's, where we had a great experience with prompt, attentive service right away. Hoping this was just an off day, but today was definitely subpar. read more
If you're ever entertaining family from out of town, this is a great restaurant to take them to. You have a beautiful view of the Huntington Beach pier and ocean. Our server so nice professional. Everyone was. Great staff, very welcoming. Food was so good. Lots of fish options, pasta. Clam chowder was excellent. Highly recommend. read more

Yes, although our hours are wrong on our website, they are correct on Yelp. We are working to fix the problem on our website.
