I sat at a booth in the bigger seating area. They also have table & outdoor seating available. This is definitely a casual environment. Rusty's has many menu items to pick from but the ribs are my favorite! I love their spicy bbq sauce so much. I highly recommend paying them a visit if you get the chance. We are constantly searching for a rather out-of-the-way barbecue joints that are local, small,…read moreindependent...and star-worthy...Of those aspects, Rusty's is definitely independent, small, and local. Unfortunately, food falls far short of the stars I had hoped to find here. While service was friendly and quick, the food that was delivered simply did not score well. Chicken and Brisket were our choices and they both lacked depth of flavor. Most importantly - both were quite dry. (Chicken skin was moist and crisp, but meat was not. We all know chicken dries out pretty quickly.) I was especially disappointed by the brisket. (Good brisket is one of my frequent nation-wide food quests.) The brisket shown in my photos should be moist and tender, with a slight glisten on the surface and a bit more color on the edges. But, you can see how dry my serving was - (FYI no altering of the photo on my part.) : -( Sides received mixed reviews from us. Star of the whole show were the collards - savory and served piping hot. Okra had a nice light coating and not greasy at all - but they were not very warm (temperature). Potato salad was pretty plain. Marinated coleslaw got one thumbs up and one down from us. It reminded me very much of old-fashioned vinegar chowchow minus the other veggies; biggest downside to it was the size and inconsistency of the shreds...just too clunky. Spicy jalapeño mini muffins....excellent. Plain white bread? (no butter or spread?) Wish I had ordered the baked beans (2 kinds). And a last note - sauces were thin and simply not memorable, lacking true character. Locals....please keep coming here...I'm sure there are combos we did not try that are pleasing. But as for us, we need to keep travelin' on.

The service was polite and friendly, The ambiance had the usual cozy, country-style decor with plenty to look at, but it did feel a little crowded and noisy during peak hours. Overall, it was a decent visit -- not bad, but not impressive enough to go out of my way for.

Ambiance: good! Retaining the old country store design was smart!…read more Food: REMOVE alcohol from the menu!!! A trip to CB is a "visit to grandmas house" for a meal. Grandparents NEVER offered alcoholic drinks! It doesn't fit with the marketed diner customer experience! Service: Silverware was dirty when provided to my table. :/ Someone needs to pay closer attention to detail when packing for silverware packets. This being the case, what else in the kitchen is dirty? I managed operations for a food manufacturing company for several years and it's not difficult to clean utensils if a good process is in place. Asked for lemon with my tea and none was given. Hostess was very friendly and promptly seated us. Food was served to my table over 40 mins after being seated at a time when the number of customers filled the seating area was less than 50%. Short on cooks? Food was served hot and tasted great! This was my first return visit to a Cracker Barrel in more than 6 months but I'm reminded of why I won't be a frequent customer.

Patty melt meal with large onion rings and large chocolate milk shake-  Words can't describe how good this was.  It was meaty and cheesy.  The double patty matched the amount of bread.  It was a perfect ratio, and the Texas toast just tied everything together.  The chocolate milkshake was easily one of the best I've ever had. It was thick, almost like a frosty, but tasted was better.  I was surprised at how big a large milkshake was compared to anywhere else.  The onion rings tasted like the kind you'd get at a diner. 2.  Bacon and cheese whataburger with a double patty large french fries and large sweet tea and lemonade - This was amazing. The veggies were fresh and crisp.   It was almost like the perfect salad.  This was equally cheesy and meaty in each bite.  French fries were addictive and went well with the spicy ketchup.  The sweet lemonade was super sweet but balanced perfectly with the lemonade. 3. Small strawberry shake -  for a small, this was comparable to a large shake you'd get anywhere else.  This tasted like fresh strawberry shake,  not the generic nestle quik or canned strawberries you'd have somewhere else.      Honestly, the whole experience start to finish was amazing.  The gentleman who helped me was super nice and helpful in figuring out what to order.  My drinks came out fast before my food.  I went to my truck to bring the drinks to my husband.   This way, it would be easier when the food comes out.   Right when I was about to walk back in,  someone came out with my order.  He told me no point of you going back in just to get your food.  He told me there were napkins, 2 ketchup, and 2 spicy ketchup.  I was like, "Thank you so much. You didn't have to."   Then he asked me if I wanted anything else or any other sauces.  I told him, "No, thank you and went back to the truck.  Never has anyone done that before with any fast food order I've ever made.  I'm not sure if that's how they normally do thinks but I truly appreciate how they went above and beyond.     On a side note,  I thought that it is really smart how they place the french fries and onion rings in a square container.  I've always hated how the container just spills or fries and stuff always falls in the bag.      I don't know why this place has so many bad reviews.   I highly recommend this place and can only hope that the quality of food and service is the same at any of their other locations.
