It's been a long time since the last time I visited. My niece and nephew just got back from out of town and were craving for crab legs so we decided to eat here. For my family, I ordered the kids meal tender chicken, the boiler with 1lb of crab legs , and 2 Boiler Special A. The crab legs were firm but soft, sweet, juicy and fresh. I've been looking for a place with flavorful seafood boils and here it is! With 4 people, we got 4 lb with snow crab, shrimp, and mussels in the Hot spice level. The sides were potatoes, corn, and garlic bread. It definitely was spicy but not so crazy that you can't eat it. The seafood just melts in your mouth. My favorite was the mussels. We get bibs and gloves. After being stuffed, we still had 1/2 lb of food left. Calamari was not that great, it should be crispy and instead it was soft. I love seafood and Cap't Loui is my favorite place for seafood. I come here often probably at least once a week but I just never really had a chance to do a review. Me and my friends come here often on Tuesday bc of the oysters special of $1 oysters on Tuesday. Most of the time we bring our own sauce " Lao crack sauce" to put on our oysters. We always get the Captain loui special sauce with our boiler combo. I always ask for extra sauce because I love to mix my garlic noodles into the bag with the seafood. Mixing your garlic noodles into the bag is a must try!! It's so delicious this way. The place is a nice place to go drink, eat and watch games. They have multiple TV's and a projector to watch sports! You can't go wrong with great food, drinks and some football!! Not like I drink alcohol like that but I sure do LOVE the green sweet tea! However, the service is really a hit or miss! Honestly, I prefer to have a male server when coming here. The females are a little snobby in my opinion. One time we came here and I ordered shrimp head on in my boiler Combo but the girl entered my order incorrectly. When the food came out I notice it didn't have the head. I waved her down and told her I asked for head on. She said no, you said head off. I kindly said no, I asked for head on...she had an attitude and pulled out her little sheet and clearly she even wrote down head on. I then asked, I'll kept it but can you charge me for the head on price ( its $5 a pound difference) she said no, if you want head on price then you need to get head on. She took my bag to the back and picked out all of the shrimps and brought me back the bag. Put in a separate order for the shrimp head on which made no sense. I don't care what anyone else in GA says but Capt Loui is the best seafood boil place! My husband and I have been coming here for years when they were just Loui Loui and over the years, they've expanded their menu and just keeps getting better and better. We always order the same things and will add on different items if we're up for it. Our musts are a few pounds of crawfish, shrimp with head off, and snow crab legs. For the sides, the garlic noodles are a MUST! It makes a big difference with your meal. We also LOVE the lemon pepper fries! They discontinued the soft shell crabs as a side but those were the bomb too. I hope they bring it back. We hardly ever have room for dessert but we always make room for the funnel cake fries or the beignets! They're the best thing to end our meal. We love the Capt Loui style sauce and medium hot, for our seafood boil which is perfect to eat without us having to blow our nose often and drink water. lol The staff is always great and attentive and we love that our food comes out really fast. This is a great place to eat when you are craving seafood, whether you want boil or fried. The restaurant is small but the food is enormous in tremendous flavor. The staff is great. I also liked how they have a sink station on the outside across from the restroom, so that if you are done eating, you can wash your hands instead of having to wait in line to use the restroom to wash your hands. The only con I have is the wait time for the food to come out but I guess when you want great tasting flavorful food you'll just have to sacrifice your time but you won't regret it. read more

SOOOO Delicious. I forgot how amazing their sauce is. It's like a little sweet and not too salty with tons of umami and flavor. I don't believe this is Cajun flavors it's more like maybe crab/shrimp paste? Anyways, i love this sauce and be careful when ordering spice levels because it does actually get spicy as you go up, and that's coming from someone who LOVES Spicy. Boil is so spicy n juicy i get scared it might squirt into my eye and leave me blind and I can't write Yelp reviews anymore But luckily I make sure to turn away when cracking to protect myself I initially didn't wanna go here bc my LDL came back high the other day at the Dr, but after trying it out, idc about my cholesterol anymore; I can die happy. Service: SWEETEST WAITRESS. I think her name is Suzy but not sure. The whole staff actually were nice. We were so annoying and needy. I asked for bibs, crab crackers, and gloves. This review is based solely on the food I received. So I was hungry and decided to uber eats myself some food. I was bored of all the places I had and wanted something different... like a po' boy... so like anyone else, I fired up the Yelp and did a search. Capt Lou's was the only place within 10 miles of me that had po' boys so I knew I had to try it again. I'm going to say this right here... seafood of any kind is not transportable. Sandwiches like po' boys should always be eaten fresh because the one I had was extremely disappointing that I couldn't enjoy it because it was cold, soggy, salty, and lost the crunch from it being the car steaming in it's own heat till it hit room temp before everything reached my doorstep. I had the soft shelf crab po' boy and for what the sandwich was worth... you may as well eat these in the restaurant... do not get these delivered... EVER!!!! I can fairly give it three stars because conceptually, it would be great and can't fault the restaurant for poor transportation from a dawdling uber eats driver... This is a 3 star joint becauce for the most part, the sandwich was a bit salty whether it was the breading that was extremely seasoned or the remoulaude sauce was salty and sour which added to the already deep fried salty soft shell crab. The sauce was on the sandwich thick which did drown out the texture of the soft shell crab and if the breading wasn't so salty, it might have been granted a better rating. But nonetheless... can't fault an Uber Eats driver for letting the food cool down but rest assured, these things must be eaten fresh in order to get the full flavor experience in order to get the best handle on it so I can't in all fairness knock the restaurants for food that came to me in mediocre fashion. I have to say that this has been a great introduction for a new seafood boil enthusiast. First of all I have to say that the service at this Duluth location is absolutely amazing. Attentive care and smiling hospitality was a great welcome to this establishment. Now on to the food! For starters we got an oyster plate and they were good. I think they were a good price for 8 and the marinara sauce with the lemon juice complimented it well. I am no oyster connoisseur but I did enjoy it. Remember! 1$ oysters on Tuesday! We got the 3 pound combo where we chose 2 pounds of snow crab and a pound of crawfish with medium spiciness. And when I say the sauce makes the dish I ain't lying with this one. A perfect blend of spiciness, sweetness, and umami graces the dish and make sit worth every lick, bite, and taste. The snow crab was so subtly sweet and full of juicy delicious meat. The crawfish tail was ever so juicy and the head was full of a savory soup that you just have to enjoy. Finger licking good as some might say. I had the garlic noodles and eggs for the sides and I have to let u in on a lil secret that the boil is already accompanied by corn and potatoes already. Garlic noodles or rice are a good accompaniment for the spice of the stew!!! This hit a spot that I didn't even know I needed to be hit. Paired this with their thousand island-looking sauce and I ate every last bit of my basket. The price of their baskets are not too bad either! $13.95 for this basket pre tax/tip. I believe their boil is a bit more expensive. A couple friends did the boil, and while everyone loved their food, each person paid around $27 pre tax/tip. Sure, perhaps they had a bit more food than the basket, but this basket was definitely enough to leave me full. Service was attentive and patient with our party of 12! The boil orders took a while to come out compared to the baskets, but I heard it's because they make everything to order. Great seafood for sure read more

After 3 years, I decided to give Cap't Loui (Duluth) a shot and I am so glad that I did! I ordered the 1/2 lb head on shrimp and snow crab legs with their signature sauce at the hot level (next time I'll try very hot) and it was soooooo tasty! I ordered a side of garlic bread that was also good, although I personally prefer my bread to be a tad more toasted. I'm visiting from the Bay Area and am a big fan of the Capt Loui location in Cupertino, so I was excited to try this Duluth location after my boyfriend recommended it. The restaurant itself was clean, and our server was friendly and apologetic, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. The crawfish we were served tasted extremely old--rubbery, off, and clearly not fresh. It honestly seemed like the crawfish may have been dead well before being cooked. Both my boyfriend and I felt nauseous after trying it and had to send the bag back. When we received a new one, it was barely any better. For a nearly $100 seafood order, I expected much higher quality. If I'm paying that much, I at least expect fresh seafood--and this was far from it. The fact that they didn't improve the replacement bag made it even more disappointing. While the server was great, the manager didn't seem to care much about our concerns. Disappointing. I paid the +2 extra for the DBL HOT and it was absolutely NOT hot at all. It was very much just garlic. I'm a big spicy food person, so this was extremely disappointing. Also there little side not on the menu stating "FOOD THAT IS PREPARED CORRECTLY MAY NOT BE RETURNED BECAUSE YOU "JUST DON'T LIKE IT." THIS APPLIES TO EVERYTHING, FROM SPICY DISHES TO COCKTAILS" is another reason why I didn't even bother to say something. ALSO the corn on the cob being cut in half was weird to me. When I came out of the restroom, I saw that my food had arrived and the bag was opened already; I'm guessing for presentation/setup, but I would have preferred to open it once I got to the table. And for me to say that it's bold, I actually like my food warm and not burning hot however this was so cold, like it had just been sitting.. I do not like that that crab is 'cut for you' and they don't provide shell crackers, all of the crab meat is broken up from them cutting the legs with scissors. The craw fish were now good at all, we had a couple each and stopped eating them. If you go I would just suggest shrimp with head off lots of potatoes & corn & broccoli.
