I'm visiting from the Bay Area and am a big fan of the Capt Loui location in Cupertino, so I was excited to try this Duluth location after my boyfriend recommended it. The restaurant itself was clean, and our server was friendly and apologetic, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. The crawfish we were served tasted extremely old--rubbery, off, and clearly not fresh. It honestly seemed like the crawfish may have been dead well before being cooked. Both my boyfriend and I felt nauseous after trying it and had to send the bag back. When we received a new one, it was barely any better. For a nearly $100 seafood order, I expected much higher quality. If I'm paying that much, I at least expect fresh seafood--and this was far from it. The fact that they didn't improve the replacement bag made it even more disappointing. While the server was great, the manager didn't seem to care much about our concerns. Disappointing. I paid the +2 extra for the DBL HOT and it was absolutely NOT hot at all. It was very much just garlic. I'm a big spicy food person, so this was extremely disappointing. Also there little side not on the menu stating "FOOD THAT IS PREPARED CORRECTLY MAY NOT BE RETURNED BECAUSE YOU "JUST DON'T LIKE IT." THIS APPLIES TO EVERYTHING, FROM SPICY DISHES TO COCKTAILS" is another reason why I didn't even bother to say something. ALSO the corn on the cob being cut in half was weird to me. They come with powdered sugar and chocolate sauce. It reminded me of being at a carnival as a child. THE NOT SO GOOD The soft shell crab was just okay. It looked good it was packaged well. Something about it was not quite right. The jambalaya was not good. Mine had one piece of meat. It was filled with a ton of onions. I can definitely taste the pepper but not the seasoning. The seasoning was great and that's where it ends. The food was stone cold. And for me to say that it's bold, I actually like my food warm and not burning hot however this was so cold, like it had just been sitting.. I do not like that that crab is 'cut for you' and they don't provide shell crackers, all of the crab meat is broken up from them cutting the legs with scissors. The craw fish were now good at all, we had a couple each and stopped eating them. If you go I would just suggest shrimp with head off lots of potatoes & corn & broccoli. Not somewhere I would ever go again. We actually felt fairly unwell in the tummy after eating this afternoon I suspect the craw fish. read more

The restaurant was clean and the service was quick. We got the 3 pound combo which included 2 sides. The lemon pepper seasoning on the fries was the best I've ever had. It didn't taste artificial and it also had a slight sweetness to it that complimented the tartness of the lemon seasoning well. The garlic noodles were standard but paired especially well in the crawfish sauce. The crawfish was good and it came with one potato and a corn on the cob, which was on the smaller side. The food is delicious of course. But I'm giving a 1 Star because they stopped putting sauce in the bags. You get just enough sauce to coat your food. They're becoming to stingy with the sauce it's ridiculous. I looked at other tables & nobody had much sauce in the bag. And then they want to charge you $8 extra for extra sauce... I'm a huge seafood fan, especially crawfish and even though it wasn't crawfish season when I went, the crawfish and clams I ordered were all great. I love their house special sauce and the spice level were correct. The staff worn mask and gloves. The place is clean with ample of seating for large groups while still being socially distant. The restrooms are also clean. What I love the most about the restaurant is that they offer sinks outside of the bathrooms for people to wash their hands without having to wait for the restrooms to be vacant. The prices are decent with crawfish and clams at $13.95/lb. Their fried seafood baskets are also delicious and reasonable priced with good portion size. I would come back during crawfish season and recommend everyone to try it if you're a seafood boil fan. read more

Plenty of parking by the restaurant. It can get a bit crowded since there are a lot of restaurants/shops there. The wait wasn't too long for a weekend dinner. Garlic noodles: tasted delicious on its own but paired well with the seafood boil. Helped cool down the heat from the seafood boil. Sweet potatoes fries: arrived nice and hot, the powered sugar on top added an additional layer of sweetness. I would say it's more of an dessert than appetizer. Really enjoyed it though. Little cap't (kid's mea): fried fish, fries, Mac and cheese and mini corn dogs. My son seemed meh about it, he enjoyed the garlic noodle more. Seafood boil: got shrimp and craw fish with the triple hot sauce. Omg so spicy but a good type of spicy - where the flavor isn't lost. Love it. But definitely only get it if you have a high tolerance for spiciness. Also would not recommend getting this level of spicy if you actually want to eat the corn. Although they reference Cajun in the name, this is not a Cajun restaurant. However, it is still a good boil restaurant and we recommend it. We shared the Boiler Special B which is 3 pounds that comes with 2 sides, a good size for a couple who come in hungry. We went with 1 pound of crawfish, 1 pound of shrimp and 1 pound of clams. You get 2 sauce options, Cap't Loui and Lemon Pepper. You next choose from various levels of heat. Flavor was good (but again, it's just not Cajun if that is what you are looking for . . . and those you who know the difference will appreciate knowing this before deciding to dine here). Potatoes and corn were boiled just right. The cole slaw was average, but at least fresh and a good attempt at a unique flavor was made using garlic. Garlic is used liberally across all their options. Spot on seafood restaurant. We got shrimp, clams, snow crab, and some garlic noodles and fries. They couldn't split two sauces for one so we had to order two separate, one spicy and one mild, for the kids. We lost one side by doing so. (2 lbs each + 3 sides or 1 lb each+ 1 side) or something along those lines. I get it, but would have been nice. The one thing I really did not like was their coleslaw. For one order you get 2 small cups, so we had 4 small cups. A couple of them we took one bite and that was it. We left them there. It was dry and tasteless, like eating raw cabbage. I really hate writing bad reviews and mostly write 4/5 star ones. However, we didn't have a good experience here. The only thing good here was the Adult Capri Sun drinks! They come in these giant pouches, with a light up ice cube, and a colorful straw. We got the Beyond Bayou (blue) and the Lychee ones. We liked the Beyond Bayou much more. These drinks were tasty, fun, and super cute! However, the rest of the food was mediocre to just bad. The lemon pepper fries were super dry, bland, and oddly sweet. For the seafood boil, we got the snow crab (market price), clams, blue crab, and shrimp. Each one, half pound, were about $10. And each half pound here was TINY. There were about 4 clams in there...how is that a half pound? And they were tiny. Every portion was so tiny for about $10. The snow crab was more at about $15 and it was only one small bunch of snow crab legs and they were super small/skinny. They also tasted like they were frozen, not fresh at all. The shrimp was okay, but very expensive for shrimp and they were not deveined. The "half pound" of blue crab was small and barely any meat. Next to nothing. Next, the sauce (Louisiana) was recommended and it was oddly bland and somewhat weirdly sweet. We spent nearly $80 for barely any food. Seriously. Barely any meat. After we took all the meat out, it was pretty much just small scraps. I can't believe we were able to be this ripped off. I am so upset. Please go to ANY other seafood boil place. I've tried a bunch others and they were all better than this. I'm only giving stars because I loved the drinks and the place is relatively clean and new looking. The wait was suuuper long too considering how little food we got. I have never left a restaurant hungry to the point where we needed to go straight to another one after. We ordered what seemed like plenty for 2 people who were only so-so hungry. I read other reviews where they complained the portions were too small and they went and weighed the portions. It was less than written. I should have listened to them. This is more expensive than other places with less portions. Also each bag comes with ONLY ONE small corn and small mini potato. I love seafood boil and Cap't Loui is always on point with their seafood boil. It is a little pricy, but what isn't pricy these days? We ordered the special B which includes 3 lbs of seafood and two free sides. We got a pound of shrimp, a pound of green mussel, half a pound of clam and half a pound of crawfish. For our sides, we chose garlic noodles & boiled egg. We ordered sausages, potatoes & corn slaw extra. Cap't Loui sauce medium spicy. We also visited on a Tuesday and they were offering a $1 oyster Tuesday, so we ordered a dozen of that as well. The sauce for their seafood boil is something that keeps wanting you to crave for more. I am not good at spicy and I think medium has the perfect spice. Tbh, they give you so much sauce that if you order to-go, you can add in even more seafood and have more food. Oysters were also good -- especially for a $12 dozen, they were pretty good. Service was OK, but not the best so I would give this place 4 stars total. read more

This place was delicious and had a great lunch special. After seeing the lady next to us with an order of garlic noodles we got some. It was definitely worth it and a large portion for two people. All the food was delicious except the chicken wings the flavor was good and the batter was seasoned but they were not fried properly which left the meat with a rubbery texture. Came on a Sunday early afternoon for lunch. Located in a plaza next to a pho joint. The place was clean ambience was cool. Projected screens. The menu is short and simple. Seafood boil or fried seafood some po boys and some sides. Price was a litter high. For 2lbs of seafood cost me about $32 for 1 person. Our server was great super attentive and gave us time to order and explained questions where needed. I got the garlic noodles which she recommend to dip it in the boil sauce. I got the Louisiana Hot which was delicious but a little sweet. The adult caprisuns were cute and delicious. I was craving some seafood and decided to try a different restaurant and it was worth every penny. I ordered on Ubereats and the bag was hot and food was so delicious. I ordered the 2 cluster crab, beignets, garlic noodles and shrimp Poboy and coleslaw. Everything was still hot. Shrimp was crispy,crab was hot, garlic noodles was very good and I loved the coleslaw. OMG YES this place is my new favorite!! Since it was my boyfriend and I's first time, I wanted to try everything and literally everything on the menu sounded amazing so we ordered so much food. Everything is well-priced too, it's what I expected for the quality of the food. We shared the Oysters and New England Clam Chowder in a cup (there's two options in a cup which is $4.95 and a bowl which is $8.95) and both items came with crackers on the side. I ordered the Shrimp Po'Boy and my choice of side was the lemon pepper fries (THE BEST FLAVOR and one of the best restaurant fries I've ever had). I've never had a Po'Boy before so I can't compare it to anything but Good food is not hard to miss. The shrimp was so good especially because of the sauce they used to coat it. The only thing I would have to comment on was the fact that it was too bready. I was eating more of the bread than the actual shrimp inside since they only give a couple shrimps. My boyfriend ordered from The Boiler side of the menu and for the seafood he got 1 lb Snow Crab and 1 lb Shrimp (head on) with capt'loui special sauce and sausage as an add on, which was $6.95 more. He said it was so filling but so worth for the price and quality of the seafood. Since he got 2 lbs of seafood in total, he was able to get 1 free side and choose the Garlic Noodles! Honestly, the garlic noodles are really plain when it's first served but when we dipped it in the bag of loui sauce, it was so freaking good! He recommended the lemon pepper fries, which i disliked because it was too sweet, but he was nice enough to offer and switch it for Cajun flavor! We ordered 2 dozen raw oysters, which were super clean and super fresh. I appreciated the fact that they took the time to clean it well and actually pull it off the shell. 2 lbs of crawfish medium spice level with the cap't loui sauce. Ya'll...it did not disappoint.
