    Oyster on the half shell

A top spot for fresh and delicious seafood, all of the items on the menu are Great from starters to entrees! I never have room for dessert but leave with a belly full and a happy heart. Your choice of plenty of seating options and open late. Servers are steady moving and accommodating. Seafood ambience with their Decor.

It is so easy to order. Either online or at the restaurant. This location is very nice and clean. Food is cooked to perfection.

    Baked oysters. Yum!

Four stars only because it could have a little cleaner. But 5 stars for the food. We had whole broiled flounder and it was delicious!! Perfectly cooked, great seasoning and very fresh! The baked oysters are also great. I could have eaten a dozen by myself! We had both garlic butter and parmigiana Beer was good and cold and they have the big bottles of mexican coke. Great place to stop on the way to Hobby airport.

Food quality has gone downhill over the past few years and the quality of the patrons have also gone downhill. Years ago, I would find it a pleasant place to eat at at the patio area and enjoy the nice beauty and quietness of the scenery. However due to changes in the surrounding areas, I cannot find any enjoyment in eating at the place we will just say, that the trash from the surrounding areas use that place as a meeting area to get drunk and out of control. Coupled with the foot traffic and the close proximity and the several incidents that some of my friends have experience there in the past, I find it prudent to order to go and eat in the safety and serenity of my home. I always order the seafood gumbo, which that night it appeared that they had skimped on the ingredients or the person that scooped the gumbo into the container did not attempt to make sure there were any shrimp, heck even the vegetables made it to the container. It was almost all broth and very little rice. Also the flavors were not there. In the past, the gumbo was so good, it did not need any additional condiments. However that night, it needed a lot of Tabasco sauce to make it edible. The Mate's Plate was absolutely horrible. The cornmeal breading was so thick (and bland) that I could not taste the shrimp (heck at that point, how did I know I was served gulf shrimp since I could not taste it). The breading in the fried oysters was also so thick that I could not taste the oysters, but rather the breading. French fries were terrible and I did not even eat more than 3. To make the fried food more palatable, I make my own homemade cocktail sauce with A LOT OF HORSERADISH, in order to give flavor to the food and hopefully breakthrough the overpowering crunch of the cornmeal breading. The Stuffed Redfish was so salty that it was not even edible. And the stuffing was also even salty. Was it worth the price I paid? Hell fucking no! Waste of money!

Fish filets are really disappointing. More like a fish nugget. Order for pappas is you want a real size Fried Catfish Fillet

Gumbo has a good flavor but no oysters. Just small chunks of seafood.fish filets are more like nuggets. Go to Pappas bbq for much better size for the price. This is embarrassing for captains.

I love this restaurant for an authentic southern experience and even better food. We have come here twice on business and left completely satisfied both times. We have ordered almost everything on the appetizer menu and we're surprised with the quality, flavor, and unique seasoning. I heard they have the best gumbo in town and I would have to agree, it was delicious! The boudin balls, spicy shrimp, and key lime pie were amazing. What I especially love it that this place is shaped like a boat so if you sit at the bar it is at an angle like on a boat. So cool! Service is fast, ambiance is casual, everyone is friendly and I will definitely be back!

This place was my rainout hang out starting back in the mid 80's when I lived in the vicinity. I knew all the waiters like Alfred, Solo, Isaiah, and the manager John at the time. All really great guys and fun to be around!!! They really made it a great dining experience always cutting up with the customers! The food was always great!!! Their cook at the time was a fellow named Van. Van could cook the best Gumbo, and everything else for that matter!!! His Gumbo reminded me of my dad's who was from Louisiana and was a great cook himself. The place hasn't changed much, a different bunch of people, not quite as lively as the original crew I was used to. The food is still good and Pretty much the came menu. I always went for the oysters on the half shell. And Alfred was the one who waited on me the most, he was a really great guy and we got to be good friends. I'm a little disappointed I one thing and it seems like most of these seafood places have really cut back on some things oysters being one. I've grown up in this area all my life and I've been around seafood all my life. Anytime you went somewhere to get oysters on the half shell they were always, and I mean always served by the bakers dozen. That means you were always served 13 oysters on the half shell, sometimes more. I guess since the oysters have gone up in price most places are only giving you 12, and on one occasion at this very spot I got less than that!!! I didn't say anything, but never forgot it! I ordered a dozen this last visit and that's exactly what I got, a dozen. I didn't complain add the food though is still just as good as it was when I first started coming here. I had ice tea with my lunch this time. Back in the day it was always a cold beer to go with my oysters. Alfred would see my car coming down beside the old golf course and set a beer in the bar. When I walked in all I had to do was look for the empty chair with the beer on the bar!!! I don't think these guys are on their game like Alfred and that others were back then, but outs still a great place to grab seafood and watch the traffic on the Gulf grea freeway go by!

My partner wanted to grab lunch here so we tried for the first time this place. We got a simple sandwich and elote which the staff said it should take 15-20 mins. We waited and waited it past 40+ mins and I went to ask. - First was that they lost our order number and they couldn't find it. - Second the manager began to say our order was taken by someone else and then that my partner grabbed it. Switching her words back and forth and not believing what we had said. I asked how did we grab our stuff if I still have the device to notify when our food is ready. - Third she completely stopped talking to us and went to go help at other customers. I told her we want our money back and she said, "well I'm not going to refund for the drinks you had". Ma'am, that's not how you run a business. Just admit you messed up and take ownership of your mistakes to help a customer out. - Fourth she mentioned that other tickets have been lost today and other foods have been stolen before. This just shows how disorganized this placed is. We were able to ask for our money back but it was a battle about it. I was disappointed because we wanted to support your business but at this service? Heck no! Do not come here. And from reading other reviews now we did not miss on the food.

Park Place might not seem like the most obvious location given the heavy Mexican presence along Broadway, but I would venture to say they've blended in nicely over the past couple of years. (#3) Location 2 seems a bit different from its sister spot, in that it's larger with more seating, and the added distinction of being the "Cajun Crawfish" spot as indicated in the title. They offer catering and offer some of their finest items in large trays, perfect for potlucks and celebrations. Orders can actually be placed online for added convenience. The prices are still affordable and the food is quite excellent. Their claim to fame is the bo luc lac, otherwise known to the rest of us non-Viets as "shaking beef" and they do it so well. The beef is tender and well seasoned, goes perfectly with their Vietnamese macaroni (aka nui xao). They also serve a variety of banh mi, noodle dishes, and make a mean cha gio (egg roll). I can't wait to come back to try more things as well as their crawfish. Crawfish season is just around the corner and I'm definitely coming back to enjoy what hopefully is some of the best local Vietnamese in the area. ___________ (#1) The listing as of now still has the same name as the one on Scarsdale. Showed up on a Wednesday around 11:45 to a mostly empty restaurant. Its counter service ordering, but very friendly and efficient. My selection was a 5" Deluxe Po Boy which has Ham, Salami, Mozzarella lettuce tomatoes and Mandola's Italian spread. Simple sandwich, but oh so perfect. The bread was perfectly toasted, the cold cuts sliced just right and tasty and the italian spread was the perfect condiment. I'm not normally a cold deli sandwich person, but would order this sandwich over and over again. Since I was solo dining, but wanted to try more than just the sandwich on my first visit I opted for a side of spaghetti and the italian sausage. Dumped the italian sausage on my spaghetti and it was like a small side entree. The sausage was the highlight, but the spaghetti was well cooked and the traditional marinara was flavorful. While I expected the restaurant to be a little more bustling at lunch time, it was a very comfortable experience in the bright open dining area with a great deal of Houston Sports Memorabilia on the walls. The outside is characteristic of what you'd like to see in a neighborhood sandwich shop. The inside felt even more on theme with UH and Houston sports paraphernalia. The chicken seems to be marinated to the chicken as it Marinara stuck really well and didn't create too much of a mess. The bread and the chicken were soft and easy to the bite which is an advantage this sandwich has over most. But the flavor was only slightly above average. And the garlic Parmesan bread didn't really make an impact I assume they thought it was (didn't taste it at all). I wish I would've gotten a recommendation before coming here cause I feel like I might've just selected the wrong menu item. I definitely will come back after class one day and try again.
