The order on my front porch. No gumbos despite the restaurant arguing with me saying I had it but didn't know it
amber w.

I used to love this place. Just had an order delivered that was missing half the order. And not a single drop of ketchup or red sauce or tartar sauce. When I called to ask where the gumbos were the lady argued with me and said she packed the bag herself. Like I just missed 2 bowls of gumbo at the bottom of the bag or something. She put the manager on the line and she was just as useless, wanting to argue with me rather than make it right. I was stunned at how rude they were.

Cup of Gumbo and Shrimp basket

The food just isn't good anymore. I always order gumbo and the combo basket. The gumbo is overcooked, the shrimp was mushy (some still had the shell) there was hard pieces I'm thinking it was the okra and the taste was BLAND. This time I ordered the shrimp basket because I didn't want to try the fish again it taste artificial and the portions are now cut in half. The shrimp basket was good, fries were freshly fried.

Crab Fingers Fried

I expected more from this place but everything I ordered was bland and under seasoned. Fried crab fingers don't taste like anything. The shrimp po'boy is as bland as you can get. The gumbo just tasted like spice and lacked depth and body that is found in gumbo that people take pride in cooking. It also had more green onion than anyone other component. The only good thing we had were the hush puppies. I left here feeling unsatisfied and heavy.

The receipt of what we ate

It was our first time dinning here, as a fir's timers we had our doubts but everything was so delicious and customer service was very professional. We did not know what to eat but greysy she was so helpful and gave us a good opinion of what we could eat. I would really recommend this restaurant, the ambient was so nice as well.

Rice tasted like day old captain bens. The shrimp were old as well. Under seasoned. My date had to add almost every condiment on the table to add flavor. Wait staff was very friendly though!

I ordered the three catfish fillet with three shrimp.

Captain Benny's has a special going for a whole catfish fish and three shrimps with fries and hush puppies. The fish had bones in it which came as a surprise. Not much seasoning but it was good. I need to eat like that so when my daughter has a kidney transplant in a few months, I will be used to the taste when I cook. :-() Overall, I'd give it nine stars because of the bones.

Jalapeño Boudin Balls

Captain Benny's is a casual restaurant. It's good for groups, couples, and families with kids. They have lots of free parking. This location had inside and outside seating. It's not a large space, but it's nice. Our waitress was very nice, patient, and knowledgeable about the menu. For the table we ordered the Jalapeño Boudin Balls. Even though it says jalapeño they weren't spicy. They only had a little kick. For my meal, I got the Captain's Platter. It came with stuffed crab, fried shrimp, catfish, scallops, served with coleslaw, hush puppies, garlic toast, and French fries. It was pretty good. It didn't have any special flavors that stood out or anything, but it was still good. It's a lot of food so if you order it make sure you are hungry. Again, it's a nice restaurant and would go again.

Fried shrimp; good.

I have Capt Benny's a 3 star for the customer service. The customer service is great but the food is not so great. I initially ordered the blackened red snapper, recommend by the waitress, it was the absolute worst fish I've tasted in years. It taste like "fish" if you know what I mean. No seasoning, I know the pic looks like it but it was obviously from the grill they use and the rice was mushy. My daughter liked the crab claws and I did return my food for the fried tilapia with fish and fries special, taste 100% better compared to the snapper and I prefer grilled or blackened to fried any day.

This place is getting 5 stars for the michelada! I ordered oysters that were with parmesan, not my favorite. But hey...,my company was amazing ...sister and cousins and COLD BEER

The restaurant that looks like a boat! Upon arrival we were greeted by multiple staff members standing by the host stand. It was a pleasant welcome. They gave us the option of an outside patio or dine in. We opted to sit at the bar. The atmosphere had a relaxed feeling with walls and decor relating to fisherman and the ocean. Once we found our bar seats at the bow of the boat we were immediately greeted by the bartender. Water no ice for me but most guest were enjoying cold beer served michelada style (hot sauce and seasonings, or bloody Mary mix at a lot of places). We ordered the seafood gumbo which was tasty but had shrimp shells inside. Then the entree followed which was a grilled skewer of shrimp and scallops. The rice and coleslaw were my favorites. The protein was over cooked for my liking giving it a rubbery texture. Once we left the staff at the door opened it for us and thanked us for our business which was nice. Price point was fair. Food was hit or miss. Atmosphere was on point. Staff very friendly and practice C19 protocol.

4/11/2026: Great experience! Nick took wonderful care of us…read more The restaurant has plenty of parking near the entrance. The interior is Mardi Gras/New Orleans themed. There are several types of seating available. They have a large patio - one section covered, one section open. They also have bar seating inside, regular chairs/table seating, and chair with a half booth seating. We were welcome by many of the staff immediately when we entered. Very welcoming. They have sweet tea! I love sweet tea. :) My Friend had a Bloody Mary. They had a $5 special for drinks. We split the Buffalo shrimp and the Gulf Wedge salad. The Buffalo shrimp (8 to an order) came with celery and ranch for dipping. They were just like I remembered years ago from the Richmond location. I'm not usually a Buffalo sauce type person, but their shrimp with their sauce is the bomb! The shrimp are large, so the entree is great for splitting. The Gulf Wedge has crab meat, bacon, grape tomatoes, and a hardboiled egg. It also comes with red onion and blue cheese crumbs, but I do not like either of those, so I had those removed from my half. I also prefer ranch dressing instead of blue cheese dressing. The salad was a great addition to our shrimp. Very tasty and filling. Nick was happy to make the substitutions for me. Many restaurants have an issue with splitting dishes. I was happy RC, via Nick, did this for us. For these reasons, Nick made out with a 25% tip. I am always a 20% tipper, but good service will get you even more. Thanks, Nick! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, and we will not only be back, but we will tell others to go see you!

Had my yearly crawfish fix, very good! service was very nice I'd go again if in arearead more

The Ceviche Blanco and Aguachile were my favorites paired with a reposado tequila and Jamaica drink... Totally hit the spot. Love that they have tequila cocktails with pepino and tamarindo too! Beautiful and festive decor!…read more I really enjoyed the ambiance and how the indoors/outdoors was set. It's super colorful and fun. Plenty of outdoor seating as well and bar seating indoors. Caesar was super hospitable and very knowledgeable about the restaurant. To start, I ordered the Xochimilco specialty cocktail (Reposado Tequila, Lime Juice, Guava Puree and hibiscus syrup, very light and refreshing). For apps, we ordered the Birria Fries (comes with alot birria meat and the broth was hearty, thin fries) and the Ceviche Yucateco (both spicy fish and shrimp and boy was it SPICY! Chips that it came with were made fresh and crunchy). For my main, I got the Estilo Baja (tempura fried fish, very crispy and the chipotle mayo it was topped off paired nicely with the taco itself, highly recommend ordering this). Apparently, has been opened for about 2 years now and they have another location in the Bellaire area. Parking - a little tight, but they have their own lot Worth checking out!

The design details, from the rustic beams and large-scale vases to the pretty dishes and comfy stylish chairs, Latuli knocks it out of the park for ambiance. The servers were equally impressive: attentive, warm, welcoming, and very considerate. And the food? OUTSTANDING. Most of the passed appetizers were delicious. We both thought the one we didn't prefer (carrot) had too much lemon. The bread service was lovely as well. The remaining four courses were truly stellar... crawfish toast was savory and complex. The fish course was fresh and bright. The Wagyu was impossibly velvety tender and seasoned beautifully. The showstopper Baked Alaska was an over-the-top ending - sweet, creamy, and delicious - to a truly remarkable evening. Bravo! I had actually never heard of Latuli prior to this event, and, based on our experience, I will definitely be back.
