Relative to what it was this place is definitely a 5 star place it is clean,,, completely re done with a beautiful outside new bar and sail cloth over a lot of the deck. The only place on the inside that smells like urine and a bathroom,,, uhhhh are the bathrooms. And they are very clean .. inside sports a modern new clean look. The food is very good although they could have hand cut fries instead of breaded cisco fries. The crab dip wings and salads were really good. The place on friday of memorial day weekend had about 155 people in it at 630 and was about 60% full. Like i said relative to what it was its a 10. All in all a great new addition to no place to go in oxford,,,, accessible by boat. And great home made ice cream around the corner..inside is very nice as well. I won't go out of my way to return. Its predecessor, Schooners, was well regarded in several print publications and at least one travel show. On my way to the ocean, I needed to stop in St. Michaels. I needed lunch, had time, so I thought that I'd take the ferry across the Tred Avon River to Oxford for lunch at Schooners. I didn't know that Schooners had closed and Capsize had taken its place. I looked at the reviews and decided to stop. Certainly guests dine here for the view, whether arriving by boat, car, or bicycle. Service was friendly and efficient (summer Friday mid-afternoon). I had a broiled crab cake sandwich with fries. I thought that the crab cake, while large, was relatively flavorless. And the roll looked impressive, but by the time I got to the second 1/2 of the sandwich, the roll had become soggy and the sandwich was falling apart. For what ever it is worth, real ice tea is served - not from the fountain drink dispenser at the bar. Summary - great view, good service, not a great crab cake! read more

Had lunch on deck - nice views. Tuna tacos with corn salsa were delicious! Crab cake sandwich - not so much... Supposed to be made with jumbo lump - I don't think so! Pretty much flavorless. First let me say the views are gorgeous, the menu varied and different and the best fish and chips (extremely generous portions ) I've had in a long time. Fish was flaky with a thin coating. Caesar was vet good albeit a bit much dressing. The reason for not giving this five stars is the present to gigantic televisions in otherwise beautifully appointed dining room. The decor is modern, in blue and white with beautiful light wood furniture. The presence of these two large screens at the end of the giant ruins a lot of the Ambiance that would otherwise be perfect. A selection of local art would have been much more appropriate in the space given in a much warmer feel. I struggle to understand why restaurants make television the focal point of their dining experience when focus on food and conversation is why people dine out. Arrived about 4:30 in the afternoon for drinks and appetizers. Hostess cheerfully asked if we'd be 2 for dinner but refused to seat us at a table since we were only planning on appetizers. We were directed to the bar with the excuse that all the tables were booked for dinner which didn't make sense because she was perfectly happy to seat us for dinner in an empty restaurant at 4:30pm. Not thrilled about sitting at the bar with our backs to the water but we sat there anyway. The bartender didn't know what house wine she was serving and was visibly hostile about having to go find out. We got the eye roll twice before we decided we couldn't possibly trade our hard earned money for this kind of treatment. We are server/management in a local restaurant and have endless patience with bumps and hiccups during service because we understand what goes on behind the scene. This is different. We won't be back which is too bad, I grew up in Oxford and this was not Oxford stye hospitality. P.S. thank you for not hiring me last summer. read more

Had a delicious dinner here around closing time. Service was EXCELLENT, even near closing time. The jambalaya I had was wonderful. It's not the exact same as one would get at home or in New Orleans, but the flavors are spot on and I love the freshness of the ingredients, especially the crabmeat. Atmosphere and food deserve 5 stars! Service on the other hand, more like 2 stars. The food comes out super fast, as if it may be premade! Server never told us the specials, we just happen to see sign, which was a crab melt. Sounds yummy, so we ordered it. Out comes 1 half of the crab melt (for $19). I said the gentleman at the next table ordered it and he got 2 halves. Of course, they give me a bunch of mumbo jumbo and that the kitchen is extremely backed up! I said, well they can't be that backed up because we are still eating our apps and the entree is here. And, even if that is true, so you only send out half of a portion, just to expedite service?!?! Upu mean to tell me, you dont know the special of the day comes with 2 halves?!?! They finally did bring out the other half. read more

Service was super slow. It took the server 20 minutes to get our drink order, then another 15 to actually get the drinks. One water, one soda (which didn't come, instead a water was served) and a dark and stormy. The bartender didn't have anyone at the bar, so that drink time was way too long. And the dark and stormy was in a pint glass. And did not have the look feel or taste of a true darkness Kaden stormy. I ordered a crab cake sandwich with a Cesar salad. It came out with a garden salad and ceasar dressing. The crab cake was too much filler for a $16 crab cake. It wasn't the servers fault, although a little blunt, she was in the weeds when we first arrived. No sign of a manager, or someone to check on tables. I had to take my mother's water because it took so long for her to return. The food was decent, but it seems to be a management problem. read more

We had a fantastic experience on our first visit. The food was very good and our wait person, Caroline was delightful. Came back recently with family. The food was still very good. However, the wait person who is very tall was unfriendly and simply awful! Never introduce himself and rush us to order drinks. While we were ordering our drinks, he interrupted us so he could give us the specials for the day. The food were served by the runners (which is fine). Our wait person never even checked to see if our food was OK. Took 5 attempts to flag him down to order another beer! He only became attentive when he came with the bill! Restaurant owners must understand that service is just as important as the food in a dining experience. Will give it one more try. Hopefully the service improves. read more

Giving a solid four stars only because I canot give fractions (four-and-a-half, with a fast track to five). Stopped here for a late lunch on advice of a friend, and were not disappointed. Two of us split an order of wings. They were excellent: unbreaded, classic hot with blue cheese and celery. We could not ask for better. I also tried the fish and chips, and must say that previous reviews with claims of the size and flavor are spot on. This was a huge hunk of delicately flakey whitefish--succulent and covered with a light crispy breading turned out a golden brown. Very nicely done. The fries accompanying were also top notch. My significant other enjoyed the Tuna Tartar and pronounced it excellent. The tuna was very fresh and paired nicely with the sesame salad and crunchy wonton strips. The waterfront location is unbeatable. This is an excellent choice for a lunch or casual dinner. Why four stars and not five? We arrived during what must have been a shift change and sat ignored for an uncomfortaby long period of time. But once "Heather N" noticed no one was taking care of us, she jumped in and knocked it out of the park. We look forward to our next visit, and an upgrade in our rating. A wonderful spot for watching the water, boats & people! The deck has been thoughtfully covered in a fabric, so that you don't get sun in your eyes in most spots. Food is not "fine cuisine" but certainly delicious for what it is. Great job!!! read more

Went for dinner on a Thursday night. We sat outdoors. Food was good - I had the crab cake sandwich and it was done well. Too many fries came with the meal for those who had fries. But you can substitute a salad. Overall people enjoyed their meals but nothing special. Service was a little underwhelming. read more

Great food and excellent service. I had the jambalaya that was quite tasty. Nice, hip atmosphere. Service that night was great, but service after that night far exceeded expectations. I accidentally left an irreplaceable shirt (from a regatta in which I made the podium, so had sentimental value) at the restaurant. I called and they had it, but it would have been a 6 hour round trip drive to pick it up. They mailed it back to me (an establishment would certainly be well within their rights to not go to that effort), and while I offered to pay for the postage, they wouldn't take my money and did it for free. Of course, you probably won't be leaving an article of clothing behind, but nevertheless you can expect high quality service and great food when you dine here. read more

My husband and I just had lunch here for the first time. The restaurant hasn't been open long and we were impressed. There is a nice deck,which is where we ate. Atmosphere was great, furniture very nice inside and out. I just peeked at the inside. We weren't very hungry so we asked if the 1/2 lb. burger could be split for the two of us. No problem. The entire meal was split and I feel sure they gave us extra fries, tomatoes slices and dill slice. The hamburger was done medium as requested and was nice and juicy. The fries were seasoned and perfect. I also ordered the bowl of cream of crab soup, which was good with plenty of lump crab meat. We will definitely be back. I saw a lot on the menu that I would like to try. We will be taking our friends, since I know they will enjoy the food and the ambiance. My Wife and i enjoyed our anniversary by spending time where we had Driven on the night we met in Oxford MD at some unknown hideaway local spots, we agreed to try out Capsized on the water ,we were told a hour wait and agreed to wait ,we walked around ,while we waited and noticed alot of empty seating yet . meanwhile we waited ,others didnt!! My wife and I had dinner on the deck, only a 10 minute wait on a Friday night. View was great. I had the scallops with risotto, scallops were fresh and very tasty, risotto creamy and a good compliment to the sweet scallops. My wife enjoyed shrimp, scallops & crab Pho in a spicy broth. A unique take on a delicious dish. Christian, our waiter was an exceptional server, polite, smiled, & professional. All the staff was very friendly. Very nice dock bar. Clearly it has been recently renovated. The staff we extremely friendly and service was fast. Lots of spots for boats. We ordered the tuna sushi appetizer--the rice was all wrong (mushy yet crunchy?). Otherwise, the experience was delightful from start to finish. Will be back. read more

I would rate the food a C- and the Margarita D- such a pretty place on the water this is a shame. The crab soup was thickened milk with crab and not much flavor. My friends second time there but he said his last until food improves. The frozen margarita had very little flavor. Renovated restaurant is very nicely done. Drinks list good and very reasonably priced. Food is ok but not special. If Doug is the chef I would expect more or he has lost his touch. Shrimp tacos had potential but shrimp overcooked and overwhelmed by a sauce that tasted like cheap bottled bbq sauce. Fries good. Tuna appetizer good but minimal and way overpriced. Service is painfully slow--we were not the only ones looking around for a server. So been there 3 times but that's about it for us. Too bad as it is within easy walking distance. read more
