Went with friends last weekend for the first time, and I will say we were a little perturbed we didn't find Caroline's sooner! Wife and I started with the shrimp toast, and it was very good. Shrimp cooked perfect. I would suggest asking for an extra slice of toast to dab up the remaining shallot cream sauce, as it was D-Lish! For dinner we both had the Crab Cake Frites. Excellent! Crab cakes were just that, CRAB, not filler. Asparagus was cooked just the way we like it with a little crunch and the fries...just good style hand cut fries. Perfect meal!! Topped it off with a carrot cake, excellent excellent meal! Price wise- look at it as you are paying for a good quality meal, which in my opinion is always worth it if it is good. read more

Went here for late lunch and had a mixed experience. The place itself is quite lovely charming décor, pleasant ambiance, and friendly staff. But I have a few caveats: Very pricey: The quality is decent, but the cost is on the high side for what you get. We got the 2 special of the day. My gf and I got the meatloaf sandwich with korean bbq sauce and crab cake sandwich which were $15 each. Both of the sandwiches were good, got good flavor and plenty of crab. The fries were the worse thing I've ever had they were not crispy and mushy texture. Its the saddest fry Ive ever seen. Long wait time: Be prepared to wait. There were 2 servers both handling the inside and outside tables. Not for when you're in a hurry: If you've got limited time, this place is not the best pick the wait and service pace can really drag. If you're looking for a relaxed meal and don't mind spending a little more, Caroline's is pleasant. But if you're on a schedule or want value, you might want to try somewhere else. read more

A great find - and a lot of people have found it ! The restaurant was busy all night, from the outside tables on the porch to the numerous inside tables in various rooms. As busy as it was, there never was a long wait for our food. There were 6 of us and everyone really enjoyed their selections. The Soft Shell Crab Poutine was not only unique but delicious, with the cheese curds almost tasting like gnocchi. The soft shell was one of the best I've had in years. The dish was so large there was more than enough for 2 to share. The Smokey Hot Crab Dip with jumbo lump Md crab was also delicious. All the entrees were amazing, from the perfectly seared Scallops with Bacon and Corn Risotto to the Halibut with Creamy Grits & Asparagus, to the Salmon Fried Rice with Korean BBQ sauce, All were winners. There was a nice selection of drinks from beer to wine to mixed drinks. This is a place to definitely check out! read more

We had a group lunch at Caroline's today. It was a brutally cold winter day, so people were anxious to get out and socialize. The place is lovely, oozing with vintage house charm. There are two dining rooms inside with tables, and a small indoor bar counter. In better weather, they have porch seating as well. All of the food was good, and the portion sizes were generous. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. They struggled a bit to separate our checks as we had requested, but we were a group of ten, so we understood. My vegetarian pasta was delicious. Others ordered salads, one had a filet, and some enjoyed their special sandwiches. We were too full for dessert, but several enjoyed coffee. read more

It was our first time here, and it was delightful. The building is in a charming little house. Everyone was kind and accommodating. As an appetizer we got the Smokey Crab Dip, it was delicious. We ate it up. I love that it had red onions in it - my favorite. My bf had the Surf & Turf and said it was delicious, and the steak was the best as it was flavorful and juicy. I had the Crab Cake Grilled Cheese, and it was so filling. The fresh homemade fries were delicious - Crispy and fluffy! We both had leftovers to take home. read more

Last minute decision to go out for dinner as we had get ready for a long drive. We didn't make a reservation, but we were early enough to get a table without one. We were greeted promptly and seated at a nice table. The restaurant looked great and had a number of art pieces from local artists. Nice wine selections and some local beers were available- it has a full bar so you can get your favorite libations. They have a nice menu which changes seasonally. I had the pan seared pork ribeye. It was fantastic, and had a jalapeno applesauce, duck fat fingerling potatoes, and a sunflower seed gremolata. It is a very nice place with good service and great food. It is a little pricier than most other places in town but it's not overpriced for the level of food and service. I'd highly recommend it. read more

My family and I have been loyal customers of Caroline's for the past year, dining there about twice a month. We recently spent over $600 on a family birthday dinner there. And even despite some ongoing issues such as inconsistent drinks, undercooked French fries on my last three visits, wobbly porch tables, having to pay for bread and butter, and a waitress who was unfamiliar with a coupon advertised on the restaurant's own Facebook page, we continued to support this local business. Unfortunately, the owner's unprofessional behavior on Facebook has made it impossible for us to return. He frequently posts negative comments about customers, and when I politely voiced my concern, I was blocked. Based on conversations with others in the community, this seems to be a common practice. We didn't go to Caroline's because the food was extraordinary. We went because it was one of the few sit-down restaurants in Denton where we could gather with friends and family and have a decent meal. Sadly, after this experience, we will not be back. read more

Food; we sampled the fried green tomatoes, had a summer salad and soft shelled crab poutine, and ended with a berry marscapone cake. All were delicious and the service was friendly and polite. Excellent crab bisque but a really tiny cup for $12. Crab cakes had been recommended by friends but at better than $30 each, we passed. We had steaks, they were perfectly cooked but not at all tender. The excellent service didn't make up for the limited menu and high prices. The food is good. You just need to make reservations because they must hold the reservations for all night. We arrived at 615 and there were empty tables the whole time we were there. We left at 8 and some tables were reserved and empty the whole time we were there. Bring bug spray if you're eating outside on porch. It must have been too hot for staff too. I was so excited to try Caroline's for the first time- but walked away with a less than stellar experience. I made a reservation- and when doing so you're asked what kind of table you want. I picked standard. We were sat at a high top next to the bar. I ordered a Prosecco- but was brought a sweet red. I didn't say anything and I drank it. When I ordered a second glass I asked which wine was dryer- and the bar tender shrugged at me and said he" didn't know he wasn't a wine guy." Next my friend asked for no mushrooms. Her dish came with mushrooms- and when we pointed it out the server said sorry it was already "pre prepped in the kitchen". To me that's awful- what if she was allergic? When we arrived it was exactly at opening, 10am, we had to wait almost 15 minutes before they sat us at a table? We stood awkwardly in the vestibule. The place had two other tables and they were constantly talking about trying to figure out where to seat us while they were almost empty... they tried to offer us a very tiny table that was clearly meant for one person... I declined it we waited longer than they finally got us a table after they walked around us several times... it took almost an hour to get our food. My husband ordered their p3b, coffee and I got coffee, mimosa and their crab Benedict. The coffee was awful watered down and they only gave us half cup portions at a time? I ordered fruit for our 1.5 year old and I asked if they could bring it first, they brought it last....? The server was nice, attentive and did offer us bottomless mimosa option which was nice but it would have been better to have a drink menu so we could see the cost/options for the drinks. Odd choice not to have a drink menu? It was also strange that they offered two different kinds of pancakes a birthday one and a bourbon and blue berry one... We asked for the pancakes with no blue berries and asked if we could have them on the side. Which they did so that was nice of them. The Benedict was okay, potatoes it was served with were very good, crispy and well seasoned. The crab cakes were good, the eggs poached well, the hollandaise sucked. It was flavorless and an odd pale color that made it seem like there wasn't enough egg yolk or lemon added? The pancakes arrived with no butter or syrup... weird. The server noticed right away though and brought it immediately. They were oddly dry and only lukewarm ... I was tempted to rate them a 3 due to the weirdly long wait to be seated, bad hollandaise sauce, no syrup with the pancakes and bland watery coffee, which was 6 dollars per cup??? Crazy price... but the waitress was very nice, atmosphere was nice , we sat on their beautiful patio, and the food was overall good so it bumped them up to a 4. We had high expectations, but were very disappointed. I've read many good reviews, so I'm guessing dinner may be the best experience. We arrived for our reservation on time, and was seated on the outdoor porch. It took 50 minutes to have our food delivered, and the restaurant was nearly empty. Our order was for two "specials", essentially sandwiches. Our waiter was wandering around, but never addressed us or give us any update. I'd venture to say I've gone here at least once a month since they've been open and usually it's good but lately it just hasn't been worth what you're paying for to eat here. The cocktails are not consistent and the service has been lacking. There have been times where food was under/over cooked. Updated for new ownership. We visited again, and were a bit disappointed. The menu is imaginative, and food is "good" but not memorable. The problem really lies in execution - when you read the menu, you're left with expectations that, unfortunately, aren't met. Food temperature was a problem as well - Pork shank was cold on the inside, but no offer was made to either correct, or make an accommodation. Desert was equally disappointing: Chocolate pot-de-creme should be silky, but was instead had a gritty and unpleasant texture - despite the TINY portion size, we each had a bite, then put the spoons down. A gem in the small town of Denton, Maryland. The best crab cake and crab bisque in recent memory. My wife had the Pork and Beans, check out the description on the menu. It was amazing ! The chef and owner, Ken, has been at Caroline's Table for two months now. If you're traveling down to Delmarva, this is a must stop for lunch or dinner. I think this place has potential, but they are just not quite there yet. Had reservations for Saturday night, the place looks wonderful inside and out. I have seen numerous positive posts and was really looking forward to our visit. Our server was pleasant and took drink orders and they were delivered and the red sangria is very good. we ordered the poutine starter and we were given the choice to order mains at that point or wait. Our wait staff told us she would pace our order so poutine came out first and then the mains after we ate the poutine. After waiting 40 minutes with no starter delivered, we asked about it and were assured that it would be right up. I went to the restroom which is right by the kitchen and noticed what looked like our 2 entrees sitting under the warming lights. The only 2 meals there. A few minutes later the poutine came out and after 2 bites, mains came out. When our waitstaff came over she apologized and said her timing was not good. I asked if our mains were made before our starter, didn't really get a clear answer, but I knew the answer so I told her. She offered to comp the starter. The poutine was delicious. The mains left a little to be desired. Maybe we just ordered the wrong items for this restaurant. My husbands Chicken, BALT sandwich had a spec of avocado on each half about the size of a dime. french Fries were good and my crabcake grilled cheese was just ok. Honestly dry. I expected a lot more. I am unsure if I will give it a while and try again or not. No specials as they were changing their menu from the winter menu. I wasn't sure why since specials are usually additions for a short time. I really appreciated the vegetarian plate he created for me last week and can't wait to see what he comes up with this week (although to be honest I would be ok with the same from last week because it was incredible)!
