Thankfully I only end up in Lubbock a few times a year for work. The last two times I've been to Lubbock I've eaten at this Caprock location and have been very pleased. They have a great happy hour, friendly servers and a darn good burger! Next time I'll have to actually try something else from the menu! read more

I really love caprock but I was very disappointed with my togo order today. I normally get the veggie wrap and it's always correct but today it came with some weird sauce despite my having specified no sauce. I have a lot of food allergies and had no clue what the sauce was so I wasn't able to eat my meal and they had closed before I could address the issue. Excellent food - always! Great service - always! We have moved from Lubbock for a while, but always have to have our Caprock fix when we pop into Lubbock. Whether it's salads, burgers or C. F. Steak you desire, this is the place to get it. Others may try to copy or imitate (the highest form of flattery!) but just can't get there. The menu is comprehensive enough for just about any taste or diet. The beer is cold and the atmosphere fun. Since there is no-smoking, a great place for kids too. Every time we're back in the Hub, Caprock Cafe is always a stop. read more

Three attributes I use to describe Caprock: Consistent quality, great service, fun atmosphere! I frequent the 82nd & Slide location, usually on a weekly basis with a group of friends. We always receive great service! We usually order drinks, appetizers and our entrees, then usually stay a while after completing out meal while we talk and catch up with each other. We're never pressured to get up and leave and the waiter or waitress check in with us throughout our visit. A big plus is the TVs throughout the venue with various game! read more

Food was way too pricey! $55 for two people at a sports bar is ridiculous. Horrible service overall. Couldn't even get waters without asking around. Couldn't get anyone to pay us attention. I absolutely love their queso! The restaurant itself is definitely an aquired taste; it's pretty dark and has a rustic feel. As a sports bar, it's great. TVs everywhere, one big one projected up on a wall and they have several beers on tap. The worst customer-service I have seen in this place in a long time. Waitress was unpolite interrupted conversations I had with my friends. Food preparation was horrible. Just ate lunch there and it's still a great day place for a meal and also appetizers. Btw, the fried pickle spears are possibly my favorite appetizers. Huge projection screens and fireplace make it great place for football games. The staff are still delivering great service. Let me just say, the food is adequate, but my review is on the restaurant. Atmosphere is adequate as well, but it is SO LOUD!! Do not bring a group of friends there if you wish to have a conversation with them, unless you eat in the patio area. Last few times I have eaten here, it is hard to hear anything even at a table of four. If you ask for the music to be turned down a bit, they will look at you like you are crazy. My husband and I came here for dinner after the Texas Tech football game. Cool atmosphere and we enjoyed getting to sit on the patio. Unfortunately the food was just average. I got the prickly pear margarita and it was only ok. My husband had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes. The potatoes were a little pasty as if they had been beaten too long. His food was a little cold too. We had to wait awhile for our food. It was busy; however, I think our food had been forgotten. I got the green Chile chicken enchiladas served with rice and beans. We came to Lubbock for a mini weekend vacation. Since we weren't from here I jumped on Yelp to consider where to go. I'm glad we decided to join Caprock Cafe for lunch. My double meat cheeseburger was excellently juicy & the fries were very crispy. My daughters grilled cheese sandwich was delicious. My husband was not so impressed with his chicken fried steak. Some of the staff was somewhat polite. They seemed a tad bit irritated because we asked questions about the items listed & about some items we needed for the table. During a recent move in Lubbock we were send a gift certificate for this facility. Upon arriving for dinner we were promptly greeted and offered seats inside or in the vestibule area. The menu has a wide variety of items and being a past customer we know most of their products to be well prepared and tasty. Shortly after presenting our gift certificate for payment we were greeting by the management staff who welcome us to the restaurant and was most gracious for our patronage. He welcomed us to Lubbock and offered us any services he could help with. Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant for a pleasant dinner out. read more

Nothing fancy, decent burgers, but if you want the bison (buffalo) which we opted for, it's a $3.50 surcharge. Warning: the green chili cheeseburger is HOT. A total surprise at first, much spicier than the New Mexican standard. Excellent, though. The Caprock Cafe touts how it was "Voted Best Place to Have a Beer", but the draft and bottled beer selection is very limited, almost exclusively American macro-brews. Friendly service. read more

Our new favorite 'go to' place. The food was very good, the drinks cold and the waitress was wonderful. Very helpful with my wheat allergy. Several beers on tap as well as a very good Chilton. I want to give this place a second chance because the service and atmosphere was such a wonderful experience. I came with a large group just after a Texas Tech football game and had been told their burgers and Mexican food was delicious. We were accommodated and seated quickly and the server was attentive. The food came out well within a reasonable amount of time. I ordered the quarter pound Blue Cheese Bacon burger on a wheat bun with fries. The burger was over cooked for my preference and the patty did not cover the bun. Others in my group ordered quarter pound burgers and their patties were also small for the bun. The fries were good and the jalapeño popper I had was the best thing I put in my mouth that meal. $9 for a quarter pound burger does seem a little pricy. Next time I'll order the half pound burger and request it cooked medium. read more

Caprock Cafe has been on my regular rotation for about the last year. Service and food has always been good even with the challenges of the Pandemic, supply chain problems, etc. However, recently things have been slipping noticeably. Today I had one of the their deluxe 1/2lb burgers, the blue cheese bacon burger. They have discontinued the option of having the large burger prepared with a single large patty. This is how I always ordered it. It pretty much guaranteed a freshly prepared, hot juicy burger! Now you can only get it with two quarter-pound burgers. My burger had two over-cooked and/or pre-cooked and warmed over patties, dry and shriveled up. The blue cheese crumbles and the fresh lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc did help salvage it. The fries were good. Had a friendly and competent server, like always. My check with a 20% gratuity and tax was just over $20, and that is with only water to drink. For that kind of money for a burger basket you should be able to have your burger the way you want it! I hope this slippage in quality is only a temporary blip and things will be back up to snuff soon. read more

Love this place! There is only a couple of places in Lubbock my fiancé and I go to eat when we are there and this is on the top of the list. Great food ( I always get the 1/4 pound hickory burger with no onions and extra pickles and extra bbq sauce) at reasonable prices. I read some of the other negative reviews on here and personally don't ever see any reason for them. This place is great so great in fact I proposed to my fiancé here ( ok so i'm not the perfect romantic but hey no one is perfect!) If it got any better I would be forced to transfer to work at the montford prison unit and live in Lubbock but then i'd probably spend all day there eating and not working! read more

Had dinner here last night with some friends. I ordered a 1/4 lb blue cheese bacon burger with fried onion/jalapeño on the side. We began with fried jalapeño slices, aka Bottle caps. Went on a busy Saturday and were seated quickly and greeted by our server in a timely manner. Both husband and I ordered a burger with a side salad. I had two special requests-to have both regular ranch and spicy ranch with my salad and that I get my burger in a lettuce wrap instead of a bun. I received regular ranch with my salad and when the burger came, it was on a bun and with a side of ranch and spicy ranch(even though salad plates were already picked up). Neither mistakes were worth saying anything, but it was still a bummer. Hubby's order was fine, but he didn't have any special request different from the menu. Coming to caprock is kind of a Lubbock fall back plan to the decent places in town. The only thing they offer that is consistent is terrible service and bland flavored cheaply made food. However, if you enjoy stale chips, watered down mass production "salsa" and paper thin chicken fried steaks that are over breaded and drowned in tasteless gravy then this is definitely your kind of place. Their "big burgers" are only big in assumption. If you have a small appetite and enjoy seeing a waitress pay attention to you once every 30 minutes then bring your money here and enjoy! read more

Good drink specials. Hit or miss food. Friendly staff, though the sexist all female staff is a huge turn-off. Of course, it appears all the managers are men, there to keep their women in line, I suppose. I thought I was in 1950. Even old-fashioned places like Pancake House have a male server or two. This isn't Hooters. The menu is a mixed bag too. Some items are great and well-priced. Others are way too expensive for the low quality.
