In going to give this place a solid 4-star rating. The bread is fresh and the ingredients are fresh and flavorful. However, the sandwiches take forever to make. The place was basically empty and there were at least four workers. I had the "Bobbie" the signature sandwich. It's pretty good and very similar to WaWa's gobbler, but on a better bread. its been a month since my post and complaint about our sandwiches with bone pieces, and the unprofessional behavior by the staff when brought to their attention. The comment left in my Yelp post by an Alison M. appears to be a fake.... There's been no follow-up, the email to the gobblers email address went unanswered, and in researching that web domain, doesn't appear to be affiliated with Capriotti's. Follow-up calls to the store to speak with the manager have been useless - always told "she" is not there, and no one allows for leaving a message. Attempts at calling the corporate office in Nevada are the same. So - BUYER BEWARE! This business is not what they used to be - not even close. And does not deserve our business. read more

Only came here because Malins Deli and Country Maid Deli (both in Newark) were closed. I remembered the subs were always skimpy but we wanted fresh turkey subs and this was the last resort. I got a cheesesteak from the Capriottis in Newark, De yesterday. It was by far the worst cheesesteak I ever had. It was dripping so much grease and the roll was soaked. The pickle slices were all piled up in one place. The tomato slices weren't even in the sandwich. There was hardly any cheese and the ketchup I asked for was non existent. This place is terrible. Walking in the door you can tell; chips not stocked, beverage refrigerators empty, staffs masks below their noses, dirty counters. Several times we have ordered and they have gotten our orders completely wrong. I am usually very understanding and take into consideration the nature of food service issues, but, Capriotti's gets it wrong more than they get it right. Do not eat here. My husband and I decided to get a Bobi to take home after the movies, we could of gotten one from ELKTON since that is where we live, but since we were right there we opted to get it in Newark. The service was extremely fast and I would say so since it was just basically BREAD!!! JUST AWFUL!! One word, Bobbie! This sub shop deserves 5 stars just for this ingenious sandwich. I consider all their other subs commonplace and some what pricey but the Bobbie is one class above the others and worth the money. It's the only sub I can't buy elsewhere or replicate in my kitchen without some time and effort. This is because they use shredded roasted turkey, stuffing, and whole cranberry sauce to create a thanks giving feast in a sub. I think the price is somewhere around $14 for a whole 18" sub which is pretty pricey but if you're craving turkey dinner, it's so worth it. I also like how Capriotti's offer condiments on the side to go with your sandwich. I can't recommend anything else in particular over other sub shops but the Bobbie is a must try! read more

I've come here many a time with my folks for subs. Our favorites are the turkey sub and, of course, the bobbie. The turkey sub is pretty straightforward, consisting of shredded turkey, provolone cheese, LTO, oil/mayo, and spices on a roll. The bobbie is like Thanksgiving on a bun, consisting of shredded turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce with mayo. The bobbie is served cold, and it is a bit heavy on the stuffing and mayo, but you can probably ask for less if you'd prefer. Additional condiments such as peppers can be added to subs for no extra charge. We've generally been satisfied with the quality of the subs we've ordered from here, as well as other Capriotti's locations around town. They're fresh, and are always made right and contain a generous quantity of meat. Also, they're very filling! Since I grew up with Capriotti's, I thumb my nose at Subway (yuck!) and its ilk. I'm deducting a star because the stuffing and the cranberry sauce aren't made in house, and the stuffing can be kind of soggy and flavorless at times. However, the flavor of the turkey and the cranberries make up for it. If you're from out of town, stop by and experience a unique DE culinary treat! read more

I suspect this shop has started sourcing much lower quality beef to save some money. I strongly suggest going back to the top quality and just raise your price if need be. As a previous reviewer commented, we ran into the same problem of ordering a medium but receiving a small, but still being charged for a medium. My partner ordered the large and got his full 18" because, well, they don't have anything similar in size and so they can't sneakily jebait you with that. But the medium is supposed to be 10", my sub was 8", yet I was charged for the same price as a 10". You're ripping off your customers and it's not right. I see the manager responded to the previous customer saying they're currently "testing this out" as if that makes it better? It doesn't. Your customers should be getting exactly what they're expecting to get-if they order a 10" sub they should get a 10" sub, and if not, they should be TOLD it's going to be 8" instead. It's not right what you're doing. As far as flavor tho, the food is fantastic. I'd love to keep buying from you because the food really is that good, but I won't be giving you another dime until you stop ripping off your customers. read more

I tried to order a cold ham and cheese sub online but could not. I did phone in my order but was puzzled as to why I couldn't order from the online menu. They don't have a cold sub tab. I wrote to them and after a back in forth with their customer support person , they ended up telling me they have taken ham and cheese subs off their menu. This place is so overrated. I drove off the highway for this??? Lets start with the basics. They don't make their pastrami from scratch- Strike One. Nothing is worse than highlighting your great food that someone else has made. (Ok you make your own Turkey-not to hard) As for their pastrami they take some brand of processed meat and throw it on the grill to warm it up. It is extremely salty and lacks the level of quality that the previous high reviews would imply. They use stovetop brand stuffing not real homemade-Strike Two. Their selection of drinks are all Coca-cola products or sugary crap. Why cant people sell unsweetened tea! - Strike Three. This place must be popular because it is cheaper and more convenient than making the same thing at home. People who give this 5 stars must be getting paid or have no taste buds.
