I had the mushroom swiss burger which was big and had great flavor, nice bun, but was overcooked. I think take-out burgers are tough b/c it may have been medium rare when it left kitchen but after resting during delivery arrived with no pink, at least I'm willing to believe that, I don't know maybe I'm being nice and cook just hammered it. We recently moved to the area and we are now a huge fan of this place! Were to begin? I love the owners and they are always so friendly and outgoing and they always ask us if everything is ok with a giant smile on their face they are truly happy that we are there and always make sure things are how we wanted! The daily specials are always great! Their 6 for $6 daily lunch specials are very good! Our favorite day is Tuesdays with the 99 cent pasta special you get the pasta, garlic bread and a salad for 99 cents! Yes you read that correctly, we go later in the evening as at 9 pm it is also ladies night and all of my drinks are $2! I love that the bartenders are mixologists meaning they know how to make mixed drinks and not just open a beer. The Grateful Dead drink is amazing and only $2 and I can tell you that it earns its name as the one night I drank 3 of them and the next morning I was grateful that I was not dead! so $6 for 3 drinks OK! haha I call myself the local Long Island snob as I am very picky on my mixed drinks and the Grateful Dead well exceeded my expectations! Their steak sandwiches are the bomb as well as the steak pizza! Their Saturday sheet pizza special is a big hit in our house! I can honestly say we passed it hundreds of times on the way to the expressway and once we went there we are hooked. Worst super bowl AYCE crab legs i've ever been to. Will never go back. Got hassled by the owner after they ran out of crab early. Paid $39.95 for 2 hours they ran out of the crab legs 1 hour into it. No discount offered or apology. Just excuses. The owner started Getting loud and defensive While spitting on me while talking (no Mask on btw). I told him twice to back up but would not. Made me feel very uncomfortable. Saying He paid $16,000 for the AYCE. Which is not my Business and if that was true there should have been plenty of crab legs for the whole 2 hours. Nice little tavern situated right off a traffic circle. Thank God the staff is friendly and the food decent, as it's one of the very few places nearby to eat. This is a nice regular spot, and a nice spot to be a regular. One of the big factors in my rankings is price point for quality of food/service... and Capp's is in a great spot. The prices are very reasonable, the food quality is good, and the service is extremely friendly. Having eaten here for over a week, I'm very thankful that the menu has a nice selection. Stumbled across this gem...originated in 1917 and today is a great sports bar/restaurant. Multiple TVs indoor with a great outdoor patio wired with speakers and even a gentle water fountain. Ordered delivery. All food was burnt. Chicken Parmigiana was burned and inedible (hard as a rock) Pasta was soggy and overcooked which may be attributed to delivery. Wings were black, they were so overcooked. Appetizer platter was also overcooked though not as badly. Cheese had melted out of mozzarella sticks. From the time we got there to when we left, we had a great experience. Our server was amazing and was right there with drinks and napkins before we had to ask. The menu has a nice selection of food items and there are specials as well. Last night's special was a burger and fries for $5.99. I had a full rack of ribs for $20 and they were meaty and the sauce was great. My husband had shrimp. They were large and tasted very good. We substituted fries with poor man wings which are steak fries basted in sweet parmesian (our favorite) or other flavors.. They are wonderful! I want to start by saying that I have been coming here for years and it has always been good...not quite like it was 5+ years ago, but good enough to keep coming back...until last night. When we got there we asked to be seated outside, which we were, but it was about 15 minutes before our server came and dropped off menus and asked if we needed drinks. After giving us the menus we told her we has 2 more people who ran out to the parking lot who needed menus and as she walked away she said "well you guys can just share the menus, you know, pass them around." Strike 1. Most of the food was very good that we got but the 1 person who ordered a chicken philly sub, his food was terrible. The chicken was dry and unseasoned, there was hardly any cheese, and the majority of the sandwich was a huge piece of bread with very little filling. We called our server over to tell her and she proceeded to argue that the sandwich was fine instead of asking what she could do to make it right, even going so far as to actually STICK HER FINGERS IN IT and point out the cheese and chicken saying that there was nothing wrong with how much (or little as the case was) was in the sandwich. Strike 2. We asked for the manager who came out and agreed that the sandwich looked terrible and apologized for the quality and how the server acted...which was nice. However. After everything we felt she did not deserve an exemplary tip, I mean, she stuck her fingers in the food and argued with a customer that his food was good and he was wrong for saying otherwise...which leads to strike 3. She actually met us walking out with the tip, complained about how she deserved more, and asked if we would just like to take it back. Then when one of our party told her she was rude and not a very good server she began to insult her and argue even more stating that she does just fine at her job and that the problem is us and not her service. It's too bad, we used to enjoy Capps, but we will never be going back as long as she works there. read more

I ate at Capp's probably 15-20 years ago on the first night they opened. A lot of things have changed since then. I can drink now. I no longer live within walking distance. The tacos I used to really enjoy are no longer are on the menu. They created some really odd/disgusting invention called "Poor Man's Wings"...they are steak fries covered in wing sauce. But, the things Capp's did well back in the day they still do pretty well today. The wings are still good, with several good wing sauces. The pizza is pretty standard--uninspiring, but not disappointing. There's a few other hidden gems on the menu (burgers are solid). Capp's is a place that probably appeals far more to the regulars than it would for newcomers or out-of-towners. I'll continue to go whenever I'm in the area. read more

We've had great service when April used to work there, but other girls have issues. In June we had Sue and sat outside on the patio. 5 minutes after receiving our dinners Sue checked on us and dropped off our check. She said that she was going to concentrate on the restaurant instead because she would get buried if she worked the patio. We asked for her and she could have explained that to us earlier. That was the last time we ate at Capps for dinner. We used to spend between $150 and $200 weekly with tax and tips by dining in, carry out and delivery. They cannot get orders straight in carryout and delivery. We've called and complained and taken food back. Have talked to patrons and servers there and they insist it happens a lot! Found out that mistakes are very rare in the restaurant because the wait staff catches the kitchens errors before they hit the floor. Can't figure out why the kitchen manager can't come up with a better plan other than to just "wing it"? Speaking of wings, don't get the wings. They are precooked and VERY, VERY SMALL! This allows the owner to save money on oil costs when frying them and of course he does not pass that savings onto the customer, why would he? Everything seems to be about pinching pennies anymore. It used to be a good place to eat, but Glenda's delivers, has better pizza, has JUMBO WINGS, their prices are cheaper than Capps and the food is better!!! Another issue I have with Capps is the employees handle the food all the time. I have seen cooks eating pasta noodles out of the pot. They don't wear gloves, hats or hair nets. Before the addition and AC they used to leave the doors wide open to cool off the kitchen. There were flies everywhere. Still can't figure out how they can even pass inspections??? read more

We have had the occasion to dine at Capps twice over the past two weekends. The food was very adequate for standard bar food. On our first trip, my wife had the Teriyaki wings; they were well cooked and sauce was plentiful. I had a chicken salad. It came with a fried breaded chicken filet cut on a bed of what appeared to be Italian salad mix from a bag. The waitress recommended spicy ranch dressing. The salad was better than the above description sounds. Unremarkable, but perfectly adequate. The following weekend, we shared a pepperoni calzone. It had plenty of meat and cheese. The sauce was a little ketchupy for my taste, but again satisfactory for bar food. What made our experience above average was the welcoming service we received on both occasions. We went to the bar to watch the baseball playoffs. When we arrived the game was not on any of the 10 or so TVs. The hostess found a place for us to sit where she could change channels just for us. On both occasions, the waitresses remained attentive, checking in on us and refilling our drinks long after the dinner was finished as we watched the games. This service made the evening special for us and was appreciated. To sum up, good food, great and friendly service. For some reason, which I cannot figure out, all of my reviews end up on Yelp's "not recommended" list. Do not let that fact stop you from trying Capps. read more

One of the worst dinners i ever had. they served frozen fish patties for all you can eat fish fry. I was there for one hour and only got served two pieces of fish. I asked for more but it never came. And when I told the server about The frozen patty all she said was you ate it didn"t you. My wife had shrimp linguine, the pasta was over cooked and served wtih rubbery small salad shrimp.
