Great Italian food in Red River. After a long walk I dropped in for a quick takeout knowing they offered gluten-free pizza. I was happily surprised to find a rustic and charming dining room and attached dining area with big screen flat panels showing Monday Night Football. They have an attached pub but it was closed. I ordered my wife's GF pizza and ordered an eggplant specialty dish based on a suggestion from my waitress. I ordered a beer while I waited. The owner, Frank, was moving between tables and checking to make sure everything was prepared to their liking. He's very friendly, engaging and obviously really cares about his customers. My order arrived while I was wishing we'd have come to eat there and not get takeout. My wife loved her pizza and I can second it as I had piece. My dish, Bona Magniata (thinly sliced, breaded and sauted then rolled around sliced meatballs, cheese and homemade sauce) didn't disappoint. It was perfect. The side salads with their house made vinaigrette dressing were fresh and excellent. We'll be back and make Capo's our place whenever we're in Red River. read more

I've been coming to Red River for 40 years. Never had a bad meal at Capo's. The service has been good, though I would prefer the sauces to have a little more flavor and zest, they were a little bland for my tastes...just my opinion. I recommend Capo's Corner. read more

I often eat at Cappo's when visiting Red River; usually ordering pizza. The crust is very good but they go a little too light on the sauce for me. Their chef salad is very generously sized; I can never finish one by myself. They have a 20.00 steak that they do a good job cooking to your requested level of doneness, but it's heavy on the pepper and I've heard that bothers some people. The service is A+ and with open door breezes, it's a wonderful summer evening location to relax and dine with friends or family. I love Cappo's, however be prepared if you have a large group; they are somewhat pricey. read more

I'm not really sure what was going on with this place when we came to eat. It was after the lunch rush around 1:30 and it didn't help that we were all starving. We were sat and it took longer than it should have for the waiter to greet us. When he finally did, we were already to go with our whole order. We ordered drinks, appetizer, and the pizza. My wife's wine came out with the waters and soda for the boy but the beer was no where to be seen except for in the cooler next to the register. I waited patiently and watched our waiter taking care of most of the tables in the restaurant. That may have been the problem but there is really no excuse. After what I felt like was ample time, I walked over to the waiter to ask for the beer and he brought it right over. We waited for a while longer and expected the salad and appetizer to arrived anytime. I notice the waiter making the salad from what I could see in the kitchen. He promptly delivered the salads to the table that had been seated after us. In the background we could here him talking about our appetizer and the salad so it was at that point we decided to get our check and leave. The hostess comped our drinks and I'm assuming she said sorry but my wife was handling it as I was hangry. Watch out folks, this place is absolutely terrible. Food is poor, service is horrible. My wife and I split a meal and got pushed into paying $38 when the meal was $15 on the menu! We did have drinks at a cost of $8. That's $23 order for $38! The spaghetti sauce tasted like smoked barbecue sauce - bad tasting. We tried to get desert - coconut cream pie. We arrived at Red River for the first time and decided on trying Capos. Needless to say, the best part of dinner was my beer and the side salad. I had Seafood Linguini and my wife had the Bona Magiata, we each chose the minestrone, and we shared an order of artichoke hearts. The only food that seemed prepared was the side salad. The rest didn't have any flavor, the hearts appeared to be from the freezer aisle, the minestrone tasted like it was fresh from the can, the sauces were bland, the eggplant was warm at best, and the seafood consisted of 3 small shrimp and a few pieces of imitation crab. The manager deducted one of our entrees, and the bill was still $45. Totally was not worth that, much less the $65 we would have paid had we not complained. read more

We made the mistake of having lunch at Capo's today. The food was mediocre and tasted like it was previously frozen then reheated. This was disappointing considering it was $60 for just my husband and I. What really sealed the deal to not return was when they said we were a table of 6 and automatically included the tip. The only reason for 1 star is the wait staff. They were friendly and prompt. The food on the other hand was a different story. We had spaghetti with meat sauce and chicken parmigiana. Both were tasteless. We were here in the off season and there was not another place open at 6:00 p.m. will not eat here again. Very disappointing. read more

Expect a pretty generic choice of pastas and Italian options with the sauce that manages to taste about the same as in many other Italian places. We visited Capo's and it was a busy night but it doesn't excuse it for the horrible customer service we received. My kids were so hungry that as customers left they would get the crackers from their tables. Our waitress didn't return and the manager made it seem as it was no big deal. We loved it, our favorite place to eat while in Red River. The restaurant was clean and appealing, the food was great and the wait staff was quick, efficient and very friendly. Situated in the perfect location along the river and at the bottom of the ski lift. We had a wonderful evening meal outside on the deck, where we could hear the flow of the stream and watch the deer browse along the ski slopes. We ordered the green chile stew, Capo Grande and tilapia, all was delicious. Next time we visit Red River, we will definitely eat here. read more

Our first visit to Capo's was a week after labor day. I noticed as we walked past the cashier there were two containers marked TIP'S. Strange. We were lead to our booth by a female who seems to have never learned to smile. Since it's an Italian restaurant, we ordered a pizza. When it came out I thought it was the display dummy pizza. It could have been except the dummy pizza would have had at least some dummy sauce. This being our first visit at Capo's, and seeing the two containers marked TIP'S at the cashiers counter, as we were leaving that's where we put the unearned tip, payed our tab and left. Seconds later we heard a loud shouting as we were walking to our car. It was the unsmiling waitress { ? } wanting to know if her service was no good. I told her where we had placed the tip, among other things, and we left after our first and last visit to Capo's. read more
