The food was fine, but the service was lacking. We have prior take out experience with Angel Fired Pizza and each time have been satisfied with the food quality. This night was no exception. Pizza, salads, beer and wine all were good quality. The service had a litany of issues: Guests waiting at the door for 10 minutes or more waiting to be seated. No one apparently assigned or dedicated to busing tables. Only one person to run the bar who was also preoccupied with waiting on some tables and delivering food. No order control despite handheld electronics (What salads did you order the kitchen lost the ticket? Supreme without bell pepper? No. Well that's what the ticket said.) No one apparently in charge to monitor and direct activities despite overhearing the young lady waiting tables say this was her first day. I'm not in the food service business, but it seems to me that most of this is easily solved. Hire another person and make them host/bus person. Keep the bartender behind the bar and focus him on filling all drink orders. Put someone in charge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Yelp is telling me I haven't mentioned ambiance. It was appropriately fine. Two large screen TVs with season appropriate shows running (in this case Red Bull mountain biking). The upstairs location gives a decent view through large windows. They've really gone downhill from last year. Last year they were packed and the pizza was great. This year the restaurant was empty on a weekend night and when our pizza arrived I understood why. We ordered mushrooms, pepperoni and artichoke hearts on ours. What we got was the tiniest of slivers of the very smallest mushroom (singular), tiny sliver of about a half of an artichoke heart and 1 piece of pepperoni per slice. Ridiculous! They charge per topping of course, but they should be ashamed to be so tight-fisted with toppings. It basically was cheese and sauce with tiny dots of toppings that amounted to nothing. We were greeted at the door and shown to our seats and that's about as far as the positive part goes aside from the food. We were seated in the back. We sat there and watched two other customers that came in after us shown to their seat, given drinks, orders taken, and their food brought out to us. I'm not a local and tried this place for the first time while I'm here. I must start with: Do yourself a favor and find another restaurant, and here's why. When you call the place, the lady just answered "hello", which is not proper for a business, but hey, It's their business. They don't say where you're calling. Secondly, I place a simple order for pick up and to be ready in 10 minutes. Wrong again. I placed the call at exactly 7:14pm and because I was right around the corner, decided to go up and wait. The pizza was ready 31 minutes later. The place only had 2 tables. Fine, I'm in no hurry and on vacation so I waited. Got the pizza which looked great (on the top anyway), and when I got home to eat it, the bottom is burned. I did ask for crispy crust, so I get it could be a mistake but this is way beyond a mistake. This is simply lack of caring for their food or the customer. They closed at 8pm, so I called to tell them, but nobody would answer. Of course it was 7:52pm and why would a non caring staff give a hoot. While I don't know anyone's name there, I assume the owners were the ones not caring because a young man went in to bother the blonde lady behind the counter about food and desserts. Next was a really young lady waitress who was handling the 2 tables inside. She looked really young, so I'm guessing owners daughter (but I could be wrong). I am a successful business owner (30 years) and what tweaked my shorts was that they didn't answer the phone. If my customer walked in a few minutes before closing, I would treat them properly without rushing them. I never got the chance to speak to anyone. See attached pics. The crust picture is a bit misleading because of my lighting conditions. But it's burnt black. A little black I don't mind if it's a brick oven style, but this isn't. Honest Review of Angel Fired Pizza - Pizza Decent, Customer Service Lacking I've been coming to Angel Fire, New Mexico for a while now. It's a very small town, and there are only a couple of pizza options here. Angel Fired Pizza isn't bad when it comes to the actual food--the pizza is decent, and I'd rate it a solid 4 out of 5. However, the customer service is a different story, and unfortunately, it brings the overall experience down to a 2 out of 5. As someone from Las Vegas who has opened two hotels and worked extensively in the hospitality industry, I know how critical good service is--especially if you want repeat customers or support from both locals and part-time residents like myself. I try to support small, brick-and-mortar businesses in Angel Fire because I understand how important that is to the local economy. That said, it's tough to continue supporting a place when you feel like you're being treated as a second-class citizen just because you're seen as a tourist. On more than one occasion, I was quoted a 40-minute wait for a to-go order, only to arrive and wait another 20 minutes. It makes me wonder if I'm being treated differently because of my out-of-state phone number. There was also a time when it took forever just to get a menu--it felt like they were running with a skeleton crew. I understand labor shortages, but a little acknowledgment or courtesy goes a long way. The prices are a bit steep, but that's expected in tourist areas. I don't mind paying a bit more--as long as the service reflects the value. Unfortunately, it doesn't here. To summarize: * Pizza: 4/5 - pretty good overall * Customer Service: 2/5 - needs serious improvement If you're in a rush or heading to an event like Concerts in the Park, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. Last year when we visited Angel Fire and ate here, the food was great and so was the service, but my husband and I just tried to go back for lunch and were ignored for 25 minutes after we sat down. The service was non existent, we were not offered water, a drink, food, nothing all while the waiter and hostess checked on every table around us, but us. My husband used to work in the restaurant business as a waiter and said this was unacceptable (when I was trying to make excuses that they were just busy). We are very disappointed in the lack of service. We have a property here and visit Angel Fire a lot, but we will not be coming back to this restaurant in the future. read more

Reviews were generally good but some were scathing bitching about service, food, attitude blah blah blah Our experience was great! Melissa was our server. Got us menus and drinks right away.
