Our server was super and we sat on the patio in the shade which was lovely. There was plenty of shade for the hot day. To stave off our hunger while we looked at the menu we ordered the chips and salsa with guacamole. The salsa was fabulous as was the rest but I had to comment on the salsa because so often these days it's just too tomato-y or bland. This was flavorful and had a bit of spice. Both were fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we were hoping for. Michael's Kitchen is only open Wednesday through Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., so plan accordingly. We arrived around 9:30 on a Sunday morning and had about a 30 minute wait. It was busy, but the wait was actually enjoyable because the restaurant has several little nooks filled with antiques and artwork by local artists. There was plenty to look at, and the time passed quickly. Taos has many wonderful mom and pop restaurants, but from what I learned during our visit, there are fewer locally owned restaurants serving traditional Spanish cuisine. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try all of them, but I'm very happy we chose Michael's Kitchen.
