Amazing pizza and very cute restaurant! Would recommend the Euro. Best pizza ever you will not regret ordering it.

Wood burning oven. Pizza was just ok, a bit sour tasting cheese and sauce. Not Neapolitan style crust - more like in between thin and Neapolitan. read more

We were told by a friend who lived in the city that we had to try Pizza from Capizzi's when we visited New York, so of course, we did! It was conveniently located close to our hotel too which made it great for us. We went in and ordered one pizza for carry out. The waitress was very nice and had us sit down and served us water while we waited. We ordered the Messina 12" for us to split- we just wanted something small to hold us over otherwise we each could have eaten our own. The pizza was delicious! The roasted eggplant and the other toppings worked so well together and the crust was crispy. It was exactly what I wanted for pizza. They cut it into 4 big slices but could probably be split up even more. I wish I could have had some more!! we were both very pleased with it and if we had stayed longer in NY we would have stopped by there again before leaving. Definitely delicious pizza, and I'm sure the rest of their menu is just as good. It all looked delicious! Although we were only in the restaurant while we waited for a short time, it was very cute in there and gave it a cozy feel. Only rated a 4 because we weren't there for a whole meal and only was able to try one thing, however what we ate was 5/5! read more

After looking for a pizza place near our hotel and reading all the great reviews, we came here after a show on Saturday night, and WOW, were we happy that we did. The space itself is cozy and welcoming, the staff is super friendly, and the food was delicious. My daughter said it was the best pizza she ever had. Highly recommend! read more

The most amazing food!! I got a white pizza and it was the best white pizza I have ever had, and I'm from New Jersey so that's saying something. The atmosphere was so beautiful. I will say it's small but if you make a reservation you're good. Our waitress was the best and she was so nice. Our food came out fast and the homemade sangria was 10/10. I am definitely coming back to this place! read more

Visited New York almost a year ago and was just talking with my friend about how much we loved this place so I had to look it up! Soooo cute and the food and wine were amazing! Great first stop on our trip read more

We've been coming here for years. Food has always been good. Service this time was terrible and uncomfortable. We sat down and were asked to get back up again so they could seat a different group. Then told us never mind we could sit. Water/drinks were never refilled. They never checked on us. We paid the bill and were waiting for a person from our group to come back from the bathroom when we were asked to leave so they could seat a group of 4 who just arrived. Very disappointed with the service. read more

We stayed in NYC to see a musical and Capizzi's was right around the corner from our Hotel. The food was incredible and the service was excellent. I don't know how the one waitress managed to orchestrate waiting on all the tables and busing them alone, but she did so like it was nothing. I would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant, we plan to when we go into the city for our next visit. Just wonderful. read more

We had the spinach and rice balls and Caprese as appetizers and both were great (although I would have liked more basil with the Caprese). My wife also had the cucumber salad and she loved it. We both ordered margherita pizzas, she had cheese and I had spicy sausage. Both were amazing and something we would come back for. The ambience was great...it was very vintage and almost reminded us of a scene straight out of The Godfather. Definitely a place we will be coming back to! read more

I live in Pizza Hell ( Chicagoland) ... This is Pizza Heaven. Roman style crust, light, chewy, flaky and nicely charred, perfect sauce, mozzarella, toppings. Had the Margherita with roasted eggplant. Don't miss it. read more

Not NYC pizza... boutique/ Neapolitan pizza, which typically means I paid too much for my oven and rent so, I am charging 20 bucks for a tiny pie that is not that good. Crust was ok...sauce runny, pancetta was bacon. Save your money for a place with slices in the window. read more

OMG! completely ran into this place randomly. What a surprise. First off- tried the caprese salad- which has to have been the best we've ever had! want to come back just for that. Then had the prosciutto and arugula pizza, which my girlfriend and i agreed was the best we've ever had. The pepperoni pizza was just as great. The whole place had a mom-and-pop feel. The employees were very friendly and it just made the whole experience that much better. Definitely on the list of places to re-visit when coming back to NYC. Would never imagine such a spot next to the port authority. read more

This review isn't regarding their food. Swung by at noon before a show to get some good pizza. The place had its Closed sign up despite their 12pm open time. We see the fire burning in the oven in the back through the window but the door was locked and did not spot any employees. After waiting 15 minutes past the open time, no one came to unlock the door and we decided to go elsewhere. Don't come here around the open if you have plans afterwards. Does not open on time. read more

Didn't expect it but, Capizzi was truly remarkable. Such a great atmosphere. What a wonderful dish Sicilian Eggplant Pizza was. Really mind-blowing. Team are really friendly and service is very quick. I will certainly return to Capizzi when I'm in the area again. read more

Great in a pinch for a late dinner after a performance in the theater district (kitchen was open till 11:30pm the night we were there). Apart from appetizers and salads, it's all pizzas FYI -- we thought we were ordering a pizza and a plate of eggplant parmesan, only to discover that the eggplant parmesan was a pizza as well. No matter, both were great! Pizzas are individually sized. read more

Yikes--this pizza was way below yelped-up expectations, especially with most of their pizzas at $18-20 (for a 12-inch pie if you want a couple of toppings beyond basic margherita). The crust had little taste and the toppings were nothing special. I've had better slices in corner shops. It also doesn't help that I'm fresh back from travels in Italy, but the place appears relatively Italian and is in a city full of Italians. The service was efficient enough, but another ding for adding 4% for credit card payment. On a $20 pizza the shop should be able to absorb the credit card fee (and I think this may violate their merchant/card agreement). read more

My husband has taken me to this restaurant twice; once during my first weekend in NYC (I'm from Canada), and just this past weekend after we had gotten married. Both times not only has the staff treated us like family, but the food has been some of the best you can find in the entire city. They are friendly, open and accommodating. They were genuinely happy when we mentioned we'd gotten married, and gave our table an extra off-menu little treat to help us celebrate that made the night that much more special. Capizzi offers a wide selection of authentically Italian pizzas and appetizers. Their burrata is my favorite, and I strongly suggest combining it with the antipasto misto platter for the best of the appetizers. As for the pizza, honestly take your pick. All of them are delicious, and best enjoyed with a glass of their amazing sangria. All in all if you have the time I highly recommend stopping by their cozy and atmospheric Midtown location, but if you don't they also do delivery! However you order, taking the time to enjoy this NYC food gem is an absolute must. read more

My boyfriend and I visited Capizzi after a show last week and we were quite pleased with this find. I had read about the place on a NYC best pizza list and it did not disappoint. The pizzas are 12 inches, so meant for an individual so we ended up sharing two pizzas. The classic margherita the bianca pizzas with spinach. They were both great, but I personally liked the margherita one more (I always like a red sauce). They were light, not greasy and while I probably could have brought a slice home, I delightfully ate it all there. We shared a tiramisu for dessert, which was also good. Overall we were quite pleased and would definitely recommend this place if you're going to the theater or looking to grab a bite around the Port Authority. read more

I only leave a 4 star Review because You NEED to update your hours because I've flown in from San Diego three times and walked over to your location with my girlfriend, coming from queens, and we have come to meet a closed restaurant. The website and yelp both say 11-11pm which is bull crap; it doesn't take much effort to update your hours. Take the time and do the right thing so people know you are on "break" until 530pm don't be lazy dude update your online hours it's so flipping easy to do read more

Awesome pizza, amazing old school atmosphere, quick service. Didn't try salads but the look incredible. You won't go wrong!

Wow - this pizza was SO GOOD. So good that we walked multiple blocks in the rain to eat it! Recommended by an NYC local. It's right across from a bowling alley and Port Authority. It's a small restaurant but they are very accommodating. We split 2 pizzas between 3 people. We got 2 different sausage pizzas - they were amazing! Would highly recommend! read more

Overall good food here. Small place, can be a wait at peak dinner times. I arrived late in the evening and got a nice little table near the window. Started with the fennel salad with is chopped fennel being sort of a mix of crunchy celery and lettuce that was tossed in a citrus dressing with orange slices. Pretty darn good. Then had a simple cheese sausage pie for one. This is a rather wet pie meaning I ate it with a knife and fork but being from Chicago, that's normal for me. The sauce is what really made it being really good. read more

We started with the fennel and orange salad and I thought it was nice and refreshing. It's rather large, so I'd recommend planning to share. We also really enjoyed the Margherita and fennel/sausage pizzas, which are "personal" size (12 in). We shared 2 pizzas among 3 people after the salad and it was the perfect amount of food. read more

Outstanding service, amazing pizza and you gotta try the Spinach Rice Balls. This is my new go-to place for a sit-down pizza in NYC.

This was my daughters favorite place that we ate while in NY. The pizza was great and so was the service. The brick oven pizza was 1000x better than just grabbing a slice. It also has a price tag to match the taste. If I were to give any criticism it would be on their pricing. If you read the fine print on the menu, it says that those prices are for cash purchases, but you have to add more for credit card. I commend them for listing that but almost no one uses cash, especially since Covid so it would be better to show the credit card price and give a discount I'd they use cash (IMO). Since they serve VERY large personal pizzas, I'd say it's about 1.5 servings each. For two of us, we spent $45 and didn't have drinks so it's pricey. Yes, it's NY, too. The waiter did ask for our vax cards but wasn't wearing a mask that any time while we were in the restaurant which I found strange and a little off putting. The dining room is small but very well decorated. Service was great other than the mask issue. read more

N wanted to come.here we walked a long way and looked at a lot of restaurant menus. As we got closer I asked who recommend it? Well, it was just well rated on Yelp. We trudged on. It's a small joint - about ten tables. Limited menu. Appetizers and pizza. The cab was good enough. N had two glasses. High praise actually I We ordered the arancini rice ball appetizer. Very tasty. I ate the basil leaf and told N we need to find a place with great pesto. She said "huh"? We ordered the house sausage, roasted pepper and grilled onion pizza. And hot pepper flakes to sprinkle- N is that way. Wonderful pizza, I confess I was glad N only ate Part of her second piece! N said she came for the fennel salad, which we never got around to ordering. I promised we can come back - and meant it. read more

Love the personal sized pizzas and it was very tasty. Ingredients were fresh as well. 29 of 42 reviewers have 10 or less reviews. 8 of the 42 reviewers do not have a profile picture. Only 4 Elites have reviewed this pizzeria and one of them is from Virginia. The pizza is good but definitely not the best. I never trust the review of someone that doesn't have a profile picture. And I rarely trust a review of someone that doesn't have a profile picture of themselves. If you scroll down all of the reviews, you'll notice that a lot of the reviewers are newbies or have signed on to Yelp just to give this place a 5-star review. I get it. You're selling pizza in the heart of NYC's tourist district and you want to attract as much business as possible. But how about doing it on merit? What separates you from 2 Bros Pizza? At least at 2 Bros. you know what you're getting...cheap pizza at a cheap price ($1). Most people could care less about Yelp. And most people think that 2 Bros. is a great example of NYC-style pizza (which it definitely IS NOT!). Yelpers are a different breed of consumer. If you burn them, you burn yourself. Let your pizza speak for itself. It's ok, not great. Stop telling friends/employees to pump your star rating up with bogus reviews. You're not in the upper echelon of the NYC pizza strata. Do you really think you're in the same class as say a Totonno's? You're not even as good as some of the "Famous Ray's Pizza" places... read more

Very rarely does Yelp fail me. I mean, just absolutely, totally, fail me. I really don't understand how Capizzi maintains a 4-star rating on here. If you ask me, this place is an abomination to not only pizzerias. It's an abomination to mankind. Here's why: 1. The service is absolutely horrendous - possibly the worst level of customer service I have ever received at any restaurant. Not only was the lone server tending to the entire dining room unattentive, which I initially overlooked seeing that they were under-staffed, but he was actually deliberately avoiding my table even when I tried to flag him down for the check just so I could get the hell out of there. He was however, extremely tender and affectionate towards one particular customer just a few feet away from me, which only made me more pissed about the extreme inconsistencies in his behavior. Worst yet, the manager wasn't any more attentive or apologetic even though my discontent was apparent. 2. The pizzas are subpar, at best. I had one of their "Capizzi combinations" consisting of sausage, caramelized onions and roasted sweet peppers. The dough was flat (without any necessary chew true to Neapolitan pizzas) and actually BURNT. The sauce was bland and watery, making the flat, thin crust completely soggy on the bottom. The only thing good about the pizza was the sliced sausage, which I'm sure were store-bought anyway... but $17 isn't a good deal for soggy crust and decent sausage on any planet. 3. Other dishes besides the pizza are poorly conceived and executed. The arugula salad had dried cranberries, walnuts, cherry tomatoes, goat cheese and raw yellow onions. Raw-fucking-yellow-onions. What the fuck. It was not even possible to circumvent eating the slices of onions because the rancid taste totally permeated the entire salad and dressing. Excuse my language, and this rather candid rant. I am just so utterly disappointed and upset that I even wasted the money and calories to dine here - would probably have been much better off just making instant noodles at home or something. Capizzi is grimy (both in ambiance and level of service) - which totally matches its shithole of a location. Ok, I'm done. P.S. For those who are thrilled about having a good pizza place in midtown (which this is not!) - do yourself a favor and head to Don Antonio. Or save a few extra bucks and get Dominos delivered. read more

Food Rating: 4 Service Rating: 1 We ordered the "loaded" pizza and it was GREAT. You can tell that they use the freshest of ingredients. They had huge chunks of fresh garlic, fresh basil, fresh grilled peppers, delicious sausages, etc. What happened with the service? Our server was the epitome of what a server should NOT be like... Were you just having a bad day? Or are you regularly such an ass to your customers? We ordered the lemonde which was $2.50. The server let us know that it was free refills....which was good because the cup was the smallest cup I have seen a restaurant use. When we asked for the refill that we were promised, he let us know that they were out of lemonade....so we said we would be ok with a iced tea instead. When the bill came out, we were charged for lemonade AND icetea. This is not a huge deal....c'mon $2.50 is nothing to get mad about. We simply brought it to the attention of our server in case it was just an oversight since he was super busy this day... We started the conversation with..."we dont mean to complain....but we were charged an extra $2.50 for an ice tea we ordered only becuase you ran out of lemonade..." His response: "well....you came up here to complain anyways, didnt you?" in the rudest tone any server has ever used on us. Our jaws dropped...we were in shock. He did take the $2.50 off our bill, but left us feeling angry. Sorry we didnt leave you a tip....but we do not feel right tipping servers who insult us. Good pizza....horrible service. We will not be returning...even though the pizza was pretty good. read more

In the continuation of my dining alone series, this episode features Capizzi. And I have to say it was pretty good! I came in on a Saturday around 4pm and the restaurant was empty except for one touristy family. The pizza size was great for a solo diner like myself, but if you're coming in with a few friends and a huge appetite, I recommend getting a few pies to sample. The only drawback is its proximity to Port Authority so getting there entails passing a bunch of bums (there was a dude just right outside the restaurant with his ass literally hanging out of his pants as he slept on the sidewalk) and if you're dining alone, you're pretty much staring out the window at the terminal the entire time--not the best view in the world. read more

What a pleasant surprise this restaurant holds just across the street from Port Authority. The decor makes you feel like a little part of Italy has been bottled up just for you. The Italian hub immediately commented on the feel of the restaurant and our server who was Italian too. The pizza sauce is very reminiscent of Da Mikele's and I love their sauce. It really makes the pizza. Their specialty pizzas are very good too. We ordered the #1 and the onions gave such a pleasantly sweet accent to the savory sausage that everyone at the table commented on how interesting the pizza tasted. But hands down, the oreo truffle cannoli was so freakin good we killed it and ordered another. It may not be the prettiest cannoli, but the velvetty smooth ricotta and oreo flavor against the crunchy shell is to die for. You must get it!!! read more

I never post on Yelp. Why? Because nothing really has compelled me to take the time...until now. I'm a pizza snob. I tell people that if I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it's pizza...hands down. I used to live near New Haven, CT where Sally's, Pepe's, Modern and Bar make up what many feel like is the pizza capital of the nation. As of last month, which pizza joint would be my lifetime supplier if it came down to that? Definitely Sally's. Now, I'm not so sure...because the pizza at Capizzi is nothing short of perfection. I'm a pretty simple guy. I like a relatively plain pizza (Although at Sally's I have to get a bacon/onion/peppers combo). The Margherita pizza is as good as it gets. My date had the prosciutto and arugula, of which I stole a slice. Nothing really makes me ever want to eat arugula in general, but on this pizza it was terrific. Service was very good. Attentive and friendly. Atmosphere is perfect for a date. Small, quaint and quiet. That said, none of this matters. If this pizza was available in a rat infested cave, I'd happily come inside and eat it until my heart's content. read more
