I love trying out new cafés - sadly, most close in the early afternoon, which leaves me with few coffee options after work. However, I love that the Capital One Café is open until 7 PM. The space is modern, clean, and open, with plants (and Capital One branding) across the café. This was my first time at one of their locations since becoming a Capital One cardholder, so I was quite happy to get the 50% off my pick-me-up. It was pretty slow in the evening, with a handful of folks working on their laptops or in conversation. My mocha was ready quite quickly, and I sat down to enjoy it. To be honest, it wasn't the pinnacle of coffee craftsmanship, but it's certainly decent enough to accompany a chat with a friend. No water down coffees everything is used via verve coffee so expect pretty good quality drinks when you go. Rarely is there a long line however, there are a lot of people who gather to do their work. A large space with plenty of natural light and most importantly, outlets for plugging in your laptop. This is less of a cafe, and more of a coworking space that also happens to serve coffee. Suffice to say, the drinks aren't spectacular. I ordered a matcha latte that tasted like nothing, but then ordered a chai latte that was much better and more flavorful. There's a wide variety of seating, from tables and counters by the window, to high tops and large meeting tables. There are restrooms that require a code, that the employees can provide. We love capital one as a bank and Peet's cafe was always amazing service with delicious drinks. The two worked amazingly together (banking and coffee WAS awesome). We hadn't been to the Somerville location in a while but recently stopped by to get a cup of coffee since we were in the area. This new company Verve FAILED TO SERVE US. The worst part was that we walked in and there were 4 employees standing around chatting. One of them a shorter male worker made eye contact and still didn't walk over to help us. After standing there for 5 minutes finally as I turned to leave and the banking representative of all people was the only person to ask if we were being helped. I said "No, I can't even get a cup of coffee at this stupid place". And left. If you expect to be around as a coffee shop you better get your customer service together. Went into Capital One @Assembly Row (Somerville, MA), after my morning walk, to use the ATM inside the café. After two unsuccessful attempts to use the ATM, I called over the young woman (a Capital One employee) working there, to explain that there was an issue with that ATM, and her response to me caught me off guard -she asked me "Did it not give you the money". Honestly, I Probably Should Have Known That THERE WAS A PROBLEM Then. I told her "no" (because at that time that was not the problem) and began explaining the issue. She then suggested that I try using the ATM just outside of the café. Well, I went just outside of the café to use the ATM (on the right hand side) , and that's where things went from a little inconvenience to a HUGE PROBLEM. The ATM TOOK THE MONEY OUT OF MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT DISPENSING ANY CASH TO ME --stating it "could not dispense the notes". Either that young woman is clairvoyant or perhaps there were already issues with their ATMs... Now, I have to wait up to 45 days --In Dispute-- to get my money [over $300] back into my account! I'm a fan of Capital One Cafes in general, and the one in Assembly is especially good. For CapOne cardholders, all drinks are half off, which is a great deal and reason enough to come through. This location is spacious and bright, with large windows and ample seating. They also host special events on occasion with giveaways like snacks. Drinks are prepared well and ready quickly. I recently got an iced matcha with brown sugar jelly, which was amazing! They regularly add new drinks to the rotation, so it's fun to come back and try something new or seasonal. It's spacious, has endless power outlets, a large private working room, a clean bathroom, and dozens of seats or standing areas for you to work. There's a Peets coffee inside where you can order food and beverages. If you have a capitol one card and you use it to purchase a hand made beverage you get 50% off. I ended getting a large tea for a dollar and some change. There is literally no expectation for you to purchase anything here, you can just come here and use the Wi-Fi and peace out. Interesting experience at the cafe. A lot of good but also a lot of bad. The bad was that when I got there, the employees were on lunch break. I've never seen that at a coffee shop before. So they still let me in but I was just working on my laptop waiting for the employees to come back. The area was nice and spacious and I can tell that CapitalOne funded this place because of the quality. Plenty of outlets and not over crowded. There was a woman at the entrance who welcomed me in which was interesting. She later walked around and gave everyone free vanilla sugar cookies and encouraged some people to take more. I got one and it was indeed very tasty. She left the basket near the counter so I'm not sure if we could have grabbed more but it did look like it. Finally the baristas were back but the line was long. I was at the front of the line but I spent the next 10 minutes waiting since the baristas were all making coffee. Eventually I got tired and sat back down and decided to come back later. When I got my cold brew, I realized it was half off cause they asked me something about capital one and I said yes (I couldn't hear very clearly). Apparently all drinks are 50% off if you have capital one which is a crazy good deal. Otherwise, the specialty drinks are too expensive and cost around $7. The coffee itself was alright to me. I would come again but my experience here was unique and wish service could've been faster. None the less, it remains one of the few coffee shops in the area (according to my Google maps) so I'll be coming back when I'm nearby. read more

I waited in line for 16-18 minutes, which is pretty long for a morning coffee. Once I ordered, my coffee was $7.81. That was for only one coffee! It's hit or miss here. When I first came here it was nice, very big compared to others and open space with lots of outdoor seating. As time passes, seems the barista here aren't as friendly as other Cap1Cade's. Today for example. He lady literally didn't even smile or say anything other than asked if I had a Cap1 card and you're all set. Staff are ok. The last time I was here was around late summer and haven't been back. Partially it os out of way but also partially they don't really talk to their customers. The manager was in that day. He was leaning against the cafe side where they put the finished drinks. I was placing my order and the barista was busy with making a drink but greeted me with a friendly hello and *will be right with you* which I thought was good. He clearly heard and just stood there leaning against he counter. Didn't make eye contact with me while I was scanning the cafe. Later he was just chatting with another associate. The cafe was empty. Both left the floor and their iPads were sitting on the table near the door unattended. This time one of the brand ambassadors said hi to me as I walked in and greeted another customer too when they went to get a coffee refill and she didn't smile or said anything, just refilled the drink and left t on the counter. Been here a few times and although the ambassadors are always super welcoming and friendly, the baristas are not. They usually seem to have a pretty bad attitude, I see multiple baristas sitting on their phones while one runs around making drinks, and we often have to wait in line for forever because of how understaffed and slow they are. As a Capital One cardholder for several years now, I can say that this cafe was a true testament to the company's fantastic customer service. The cafe had set up a full Mother's Day spread with fondue and flowers for customers and patrons. I want to give a special shoutout to Barbie who went above and beyond and completely out of her way to help me. I have been searching for a bank that could provide me with a medallion signature guarantee and although the Capital One cafes in Boston are unable to provide me with one, Barbie called a number of other banks in the area and helped me find the closest place that would be able to provide me with one - even though the place she found was a separate bank and not a Capital One! I've been a Capital One member for years but never visited one of their branch locations. Since this one just opened down the street i've been dying to stop in because a) I lost my Venture card (again), and b) I am a Peet's coffee enthusiast. I stopped in and was greeted by helpful smiling faces. The room is gorgeous, clean and modern. There is tons of seating and outlets, and even a conference room.
