Capital Movers was great! Would 10/10 recommend. We shopped around for prices and were recommended by a friend and they had very reasonable prices. They sent 2 movers Michael & Zaviann and they were awesome! They wrapped/protected all of our items, came with plenty of supplies, and worked very quickly and efficiently. They were very professional and friendly and had the same care when unloading all of our items into our new place. We did have one minor issue with one of the desk chairs on the armrests, we brought it to their attention and they immediately reached out to their supervisor to get a resolution right then and there vs having to go back and fourth like other companies do. Capital Movers came through on 1-day notice when another moving company let me down. I was supposed to be out of my business condo unit on 7/31/22. I had a move scheduled for that Sunday when the initial mover told me after 5pm his guys could not do the job as promised. I'll give him credit though, he referred me to Jason and Capital Movers. I was able to reach Jason late Sunday afternoon on 7/31 and explained my situation. He apologized he could not complete the move same-day, but the next morning on 8/1/22, just after 8am, he had his guys and truck where I needed them. They completed the 850 sq. ft. office furniture move (wrap, load, drive to destination and unload) in right about 3 hours. Their hourly rate was about $20 less than what many movers are charging these days. There's a one-time $80 trip charge (reasonable, based on the price of gas). Overall, I'm very happy with Capital Movers and I will use them again in the future as well as recommend them to others I know that will be moving/relocating. read more

They have helped me with moving a piano I donated, with moving items out of my home to storage, and most recently with moving things from one storage unit to another. Wow, EXCELLENT SERVICE. My movers Matthew and Mustafa where so friendly and so fast. They showed up, just as the sky's where graying and it looked like a major storm was brewing. Soon as the truck was loaded the sky opened up. Monsoon. Mustafa gave me options, but in the end said it was my call. He really made the whole experience great. Wonderful attitude. There was absolutely nothing positive leading up to today's move. We went back and forth with our complex about various things, and nothing was going right. All I wanted to do was get my keys and do our time on our lease. My husband found a flyer for Capital Movers and scheduled for them to come out. Mustafa, Joe and Joshua were probably the best part of our day! They showed up early and got right to work. Joe even let me vent to him about all the drama we were dealing with while making a trip down the stairs. All our things were handled with care, and they even helped us dump our old couch. Which included fishing one of our jerky cats out from under it. I also know my husband was notttt looking forward to moving our heavy potted lemon tree, and Capital Movers even hooked that up! This move was a problem from start to finish. Without going into many of the contextual details the communication was problematic from the get go - unbeknownst to me the person originally hired to do the move farmed it off to this group but did not evidently communicate details which made the initial hour a bit complicated. That was acceptable however in general the movers seemed stoned and inattentive and needed a lot of oversight and even then they did not seem to understand that when loading the truck you don't load by room you load by weight. Therefore the truck was loaded inefficiently and items had to be left behind. They were asked to but did not use protective blankets and plastic wrap. As a result many many pieces of furniture came out of this move with triple the number of dings and scratches they started with. They needed frequent redirections and reminders re which pieces to move and which were priority and still they left items behind that were large and not able to be moved by myself while making sure to pack things that were smaller and easily lifted by one person. As the day went on they got slower... and... slower. Upon unloading they then began to put some items back together (without being asked) which extended their work time but they put the items back together improperly so I had to re-do it after they left anyway. In the end they up-charged for 8 hours while barely working 6.5. The owner's behavior was devoid of any genuine customer service skills and that is the nicest thing I can say about his brutal and verbally aggressive interpersonal style. All in all the cost of the service "as quoted" was reasonable however in actuality it was more costly simply because of the lack of moving "know-how" , the sluggishness of the workers that day, the damages to the furniture due to improper packing and the eventual need to hire a second company to complete the job. TL;DR - if you want damaged furniture and a slightly cheaper rate this is your place. Otherwise I recommend Ironman Movers - without any reservations whatsoever. THEY were efficient -professional - did exactly what they said they would do and did it well. No surprises at all. 4/13/22 Addendum in response to the owner's response below and via DM No Jason I do NOT have this company mistaken for another. Unreliable. No response. I booked a move with Jason at least 3 weeks in advance. But on the day of the move, no one showed up. I received 4 different calls from Rolph stating they would be here in an hour, then another hour, etc. Finally last call at 6:30 saying they were still on another job and wouldn't make it. After leaving message for Jason at least twice, crew showed up the next morning at 7:00 to load 1st pod, but no one showed up to load the 2nd pod. Dominique was very professional and quick!! Him and Dexter got my move done in 3 hours FLAT! The only reason I didn't do 5 stars was that I wrote on my boxes where to put down the box (ex; KITCHEN) and some of the boxes were put just anywhere in the house. Rolph & John worked hard to move us from a single story 3-bedroom house to an apartment on the 2nd floor. They arrived on time, gave 100% and kept a great attitude all day! Especially, difficult was moving the piano to the 2nd floor. There were a few scratches on the master bedroom furniture but overall I'm pleased and plan to use them again when we move from the apartment to the house that is currently being built. Bought two pieces of furniture from a local store. Both items to be delivered to my residence. They were supposed to arrive at 11am on Thursday. They showed up at 5pm without one of the pieces. They said they didn't have time to go back to the store before it would close, so we agreed they would bring to us at 11am on Saturday. Here it is 1pm and they haven't shown up and no one has called. The store says they've called and email the owner, but no response. Guys on the truck on Thursday were very nice. It's not their fault. Management at this firm is horrible or at best, nonexistent. If you need something moved or delivered on a specific day, this is not the firm to hire. read more

We used Capital Movers to move from Athena Austin Area to California. The team was incredible and got everything here on schedule!

Not a pleasant experience at all. Extremely slow so they can charge you more. I did a very similar move with about 20 less miles of a commute in under 240 mins. It took them the same time to simply load half the amount of stuff. The topper was in between the drive from apartment 1 to apartment 2 they had to stop and get fuel, something that should've been done before. I was waiting at my apartment for them for an hour, and to make matters worse they charged me for that hour also. I very straightforwardly asked the mover "Was it fair that they were charging me an hour for a period of time I couldn't control?" He responded by saying it wasn't fair but it was in the contract. The two movers were nice and easy to talk to and it's good to see others enjoyed their services but I myself would rather walk my bed frame down 35 before I utilize their services again. read more

In response to Jason's comment posted on 9/23: 1. During my initial call to the movers I was informed the cost would be 60 dollars an hour plus an additional 25 dollars for the drive. When the movers arrived they tried to charge me 65 dollars an hour. Additionally, they tried to charge me another fee for renting the moving truck. 2. I was never offered a 20% discount. I had to fight just to get the hourly rate originally agreed upon. The amount I paid does not reflect a 20% discount. 3. I was never informed that I may purchase replacement insurance. How could I have purchased it if never offered it, which I think was the intention. 4. They broke several things and I was told that I would only get 60 cents per pound if I filed a claim. 5. The movers showed up over an hour late and my move took over 12 hours. I was given an estimate of 5 hours. 6. Almost everything was packed in boxes before they arrived, the few loose items that remained were just thrown into garbage bags and moved like that. They did not have any packing supplies to use, When I explained to them I needed boxes I was told rudely that I should have asked for packing supplies prior to their arrival 7. In order to get to my apartment that I was moving out of, the movers did not have to walk up 3 flights of stairs as Jason claims, I lived on the first floor only. 8. My old apartment complex did have a garage that prevented the truck from pulling up to my doorstep and they had to park about 40 yards away (not 80), however my family moved over half of my stuff to their truck themselves. 9. The workers were missing a large amount of the time and we caught them eating lunch and sitting on my furniture when they were supposedly working. 10. The apartment I was moving into did have 2 flights of stairs (not 3 flights of stairs) but all my boxes were left in the first floor garage about 6 feet from the rented moving truck. 11. At 1am I was told that they only accept cash. No credit cards, and no checks. Since I don't carry 900 dollars in cash I had to go to an ATM at 1am in the morning when I should have been supervising. 12. I tried to call Jason on 7/14 to resolve the issues that occurred and I was not able to speak because I was constantly being yelled at. At the end of the phone call I was called horrible names and hung up on. 13. I filed a complaint with the BBB. Jason from Capital Movers was uncooperative, and even tried to scare me away by claiming that he filed police reports on me. In checking on these police reports I found out there was no reports ever filed. If Jason from Capital Movers really wanted to resolve this issue the BBB would have been the perfect platform. 14. I've been harassed by this company with threats "I know where you live" and "make sure you're doors are locked." I did have to engage the police and they called the company. I mention this to warn people to think twice before letting people of this character know where you live. I do have a copy of the police report if anyone would like to see it please message me here on Yelp. 15. It is clear that I will never get anything from Capital Movers. I only want my voice to be heard so that others can make an informed decision when choosing a moving company, however Jason is doing everything is his power to try to silence me at this. Jason and his team are godsends. I was in the process of getting a new couch and needed to get rid of mine. My boyfriend was going to help me but he hurt his back. I walked outside this morning and Capital Movers were right outside getting ready for a move. I wouldn't use Capital Movers again. They showed up in an older truck that left an oil spot in our brand new drive way and did a decent amount of damage during moving furniture into our new house. To their credit 1 area was a tight corner at the top of our steps and probably wasn't avoidable given our large couch. The other 3 areas were completely avoidable and showed that the movers weren't very experienced. Cost was comparable with all of the other quotes I received but the damage out ways the cost so I wish I would have used someone that was more experiences, even if they cost more. read more

The guys were friendly enough but they were dead tired from the first move, making mine pain stakingly slow. A 3-hour move took them 6 and 1/2 hours. It was a 1 bedroom apartment move 1st floor to 1st floor. They were an hour late and damaged some of my furniture. I wrote management an email today, not sure how or if they will respond. But I'll hope for the best. Update: Management wrote back with a poor excuse of an apology. Told me they couldn't make a claim unless they had pictures of all the damaged items. One of the damaged items is a large wrap around couch and the joint that attaches them is broken. I can't get a picture without separating the pieces which I can't do on my own. Too much trouble. I decided to forget about it. From previous reviews they pay by the pound and not the value of the items. All in all, I think it would be ok to use these guys if you are first appointment of the day and don't have any fragile or expensive things. read more

Edit 7/7/2014: I've had a chance to speak with Jason, the owner of Capital Movers, who called me after speaking with his crew and this review was posted and asked to speak to me face to face. He apologized profusely for the behavior of his employees, and told me that this never should have happened. He gave me a partial refund ($130 was returned to me), and offered to do whatever it took to make things right - moving my washer and dryer, even personally offering to help with whatever other moving was needed, etc. He seemed sincere in his response, and I felt for him - his employees certainly didn't leave me with a great impression of the company, and it was clear that he understood the necessity of customer satisfaction. I think it's important to note that Jason the owner seems very dedicated to the happiness of his customers, even if his employees don't necessarily always share that sentiment. I cannot say for certain, since I only have these two experiences to go on, but I can say is this - if you choose Capital Movers to move you and have a similarly bad experience, reach out to Jason and he should try to make things right. It's not enough to change my review to a positive experience, but the turnaround time was less than a day for Capital Movers to reach out and make amends, and that instills me with a feeling of hope. If everyone at Capital Movers was like Jason, I think issues like what happened to me wouldn't happen. Original Review Below: These people were absolutely horrendous. I originally made an appointment for July 3rd between noon and 2pm to move my 1-bedroom apartment. I received a call at 11:30 saying they would be an hour late. At 2pm, they called again saying they were still running late and would be there in an hour. I called again at 3pm, but they didn't respond. I left a voice mail. I got a call back at 4pm. saying that they were on their way. They finally arrived at 5:25pm, took one look at the place, and said "We can't move this. I thought all your stuff was already packed up and we just needed to move it." He told me that I needed a "pack and move" service instead. I chalked it up to my own inexperience, and we made another appointment for a pack and move the morning of Sunday, July 6th. Sunday morning arrives and they show up. The same young man introduces himself and then asks "Hey, do you have any tape?" That's right. The professional licensed, insured, and bonded movers, with the same fellow who told me that they didn't have materials and that I needed to do a "pack and move" came without packing materials. Not only did they forget to bring tape, they also forgot to bring packing paper for glassware and dishes. He started using my own paper towels to pack my things. It doesn't end there. They overpacked a box and it broke, shattering the bottom of my glass convection oven. I was told they would make it right. Later on, I would find out that "making it right" would be them paying 60 cents for each pound of stuff they break. My $100 convection oven being broken resulted in a discount of $10 off the total move. They refused to move a lot of things in my apartment, saying "We have another job soon, and this sort of miscellaneous stuff you can move yourself." They also refused to move my washer and dryer. My washer and dryer had been delivered to my new home, but were sitting on the first floor and needed to be moved up to the second. The leader of the bunch refused to do it, saying "We have another job after this and we won't do it because we can't be held responsible for any damages that might happen." It *still* doesn't end there, though! They asked for the entire payment in cash after this, saying their credit card machine was broken, and that they didn't accept checks. They then proceeded to follow me to the ATM, where they then said "Oh I don't have any change either" and saying "It's only 3 bucks". When I offered him the cash I did have, he threatened to sue because I only had $235 instead of the $237.50 they wanted. The entire affair has been a nightmare. If you ever consider a moving company, find somebody else. These people are terrible. read more

My husband and I had planned on moving ourselves, but at the last minute we decided to go with a moving company instead. We called Capital Movers at 8pm the night before we needed to move, and they were able to schedule us for the 9am slot the very next day. Matt and Woodrow called us the next morning to see if it would be ok if they arrived about 30 mins early, which was great because we were ready and wanted to get the show on the road. They finished our entire duplex in three hours with a professional, friendly attitude, and they handled all of our stuff with great care. We paid with a credit card, but PayPal was not working so they called the office and were able to run it from their side with no problems. My daughter was the first to need their help when her scheduled (big name) mover didn't show up. Jason came over himself with a helper and took care of the move. I'm on a very tight budget and only needed some large items moved and these guys did it in exactly the time I had allotted. Super nice guys. Very careful with my stuff. Jason, the owner, was just as nice as could be and even sent two guys to get a couple of items that we couldn't get onto the original truck. Their prices are very reasonable, their service is excellent, and they were able to schedule me within a few days of calling (which during this busy moving season was a lifesaver). I have personally used Capital Movers two times. Once in 2009 and again in 2010. Both times they were easy to schedule with, punctual in showing up, very polite, organized - had all the supplies needed, worked well with one another and DIDN'T break anything! (I can't say that about Brand-X when they moved me in 2006!) The guys went out of their way to set up my stuff in the new location and were patient when I changed my mind to different placements, etc. They also accepted a personal check as my payment and made sure that I was completely satisfied with everything before leaving. This moving company came highly recommended by our Realtor... however, he's not anymore. We made a *HUGE* mistake in hiring these guys. We had to fight with them for over 3.5 months to get a refund on the 8- YES *8*- pieces of furniture that they severely scratched during our move. Andre- the owners "assistant" is disorganized as all hell and dragged things out for over 2 months. When we finally got ahold of We've gotten excuse after excuse why we hadn't gotten the refund. There was more than $2900 worth of damaged furniture- all of which is STILL scratched and damaged- to get back $450. We paid $500 the first time he moved us (had no idea the stuff was damaged because it was moved into a storage unit) then two months later we paid him an additional $500 to move us into our new place- that was when we discovered all the damages. They definitely ripped us off. Steer clear and hire better movers. **Since I'm unable to respond to the owners comments without personally messaging him- here is my response. In fairness to the YELP community, I want my response to be public so you can further understand why this company deserves 1 star. I apologize in advance to my wife for making her family's loss public.** Jason- it was not OUR scheduling that caused conflict with Andre nor was it our fault that there was a 2 month delay in action. Andre came to the house three weeks after our move, met with my wife and myself and took down detailed notes of everything that was scratched and damaged and took pictures of everything. 3 weeks later my wife hadn't heard anything so she called him and he asked her to send an email of what pieces were damaged. She responded to him within an hour with the detailed list. Two weeks went by and we heard nothing, she reached out to him and the mail box was full multiple days in a row. When she finally got him on the phone several days later, he asked her to provide him with the information AGAIN. So, she did. Then, another week went by with no contact. She reached out to him AGAIN and he then sent her an email with a link asking her to pick out the items from the IKEA website that were messed up. At this point, we were 2 months in and her dad had been diagnosed with brain cancer with a few months to live. I took over at that point because my wife was frustrated and irritated with Andre's lack of communication and the fact that our house is sitting in shambles waiting for resolution. I spent the next month and a half chasing you and getting excuse after excuse to be able to get ANY resolution. My wife ultimately lost her dad and then turned her focus back to the aggravation that I had not SUCESSFULLY brought our furniture nightmare to an end and we still had pieces of furniture sitting everywhere being unused. In an interest in getting it over with and just getting something back (not to mention giving my wife resolution), I begrudgingly agreed to the $450 so I could at least show my wife that the issue was resolved and over with because it appeared you were jerking us around by not responding to calls and texts requesting any type of remediation. In fact, it wasn't until my wife notified you that we were going to file a formal complaint against you with the state and the BBB that you FINALLY appeared with the refund. That $450 did not make a dent in the amount of furniture we have to replace because of your employees lack of attention and carelessness. Not to mention your extremely unprofessional avoidance during the whole issue. If you think $450 is enough to negate you receiving an honest review, I'm sorry- it doesn't. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision when it comes to choosing a professional moving company. We used Capital Movers for our move a week ago and I'd definitely recommend them! I was quoted $69/hr + a one-time $25 trip fee and that is exactly what we payed. All of the other companies quoted us between $100 and $120/hr with a $50 trip fee. We moved out of a 3rd story fully furnished 2-bedroom apartment and it took them just over 3 hours which was less than I was quoted by other moving companies. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I was told over the phone by the owner (I'm assuming) that the movers would be there between 12pm and 3pm. At 2:30pm I hadn't heard anything and called the main number, but noone answered. Around 3:30pm the mover called and let me know they would be there around 6pm due to the difficulty of the first move. He was very polite and apologetic, but he indicated that no specific time had been given to them. If you do call Capital Movers, request Charlie and Carlo! They were fantastic, friendly and very careful with our belongings. When we have to move out in a year (ugh!), we'll be requesting them again! There are other reviews here that seem to not understand: This is a lower cost mover than others. They are overwhelmed, but mainly due to the customers not being upfront and honest about how much stuff they need moved. There is no way to accurately estimate how much time their movers will be at a site when customers aren't up front. My experience with them was fine. They were a little late due to previous customer, but they showed up and got right with it. The guys work fast, are cordial and as professional as you would expect of young guys busting their butts all day long, dealing with already stressed customers. It's so easy to blame the movers, but some simple understanding and flexibility by customers is needed any time you hire help to do your dirty work. I first used Capital last year when my apartment locater hired them to unload my ABF moving crate. The crew was very professional and got the job done in half the time estimated. When I moved this weekend, I entrusted Jason and his crew to haul my stuff across town. They did get held up at a job scheduled before mine...and were much later than planned. However, they called regularly and promised to get me moved no matter how late it was. Sure enough, they worked on my apartment and then my boyfriend's apartment (we were moving in to a house together) until well after midnight. I expected they would call it quits and want to reschedule for another day, but that never happened. I felt really bad for the crew busting their butts all night to get the job done. Through it all, they were professional, upbeat and stayed positive. They never cut corners and made sure everything was loaded up safely and correctly. I know they didn't want to spend their Saturday night working...but they never let it show. I will use them again (although hopefully no time soon) and recommend them to my friends. Capital movers started off on the wrong foot. They scheduled an arrival time between 8 and 9, I woke up on a Saturday around 7:30 and sat around until they arrived at 11. Pretty inconvenient and from what I've read on many of these reviews, it's not unusual. Fortunately however, they arrived with three movers when they were only supposed to have two, nor did they charge me for the additional man. This made the move time an hour or so shorter, saving me time and money. The move itself went pretty well for the most part. However, they did seem a little careless with my belongings. I had a 60 inch flat screen that weighs about 80 lbs. I told one mover beforehand that I had one requirement, "be careful with the flat screen tv." Next thing you know he's single handedly carrying it off the truck, the top of it hit the truck but did not cause damage. Disaster averted. I'd recommend this moving company if you have some low value furniture and electronics that need to be moved quickly, last second, and at an affordable price. Maybe if you're a college student or young professional. If you have the money, spring for a higher quality moving service. If I had three times the amount of possessions, they most likely would have damaged something. I seemed pretty fortunate. For the most part, I'm pretty satisfied with how things turned out. read more

I love to move, said no one ever! However after yesterday's first round of my move with Capital Movers, I'm actually more motivated. These guys showed up on time, quickly went to work and loaded the truck for a very short move from my former residence to where I'm storing my furniture until my big move at the end of the month. They took great care in my belongings, but moved quickly and got the move done from beginning until in an hour and 45 minutes. I highly recommend them for any residential move! read more

I requested an early time but wasn't sure if they would call before arriving. Luckily they called when they were on their way and showed early. I was iffy when I saw the guys. They didn't exactly look professional. BUT they had manners and were nice. One of the guys huffed and puffed towards the end but they got the job done. I liked this moving company because they didn't talk much and kept moving. The other companies I've used before talk too much and got way too personal!
