In a nearby parking lot, my car got stuck on one of those parking blocks and my front splash shield panel came undone... dragging on the pavement. I was in a panic since I had run a half mile just to get to Capital Car Care. When I got there, a gentleman told me to bring in the car and that he would be happy to put my car on a lift because it was an easy fix. And after 10 min, the car was good to go -- at no charge! Called to have my car checked because another shop said it needed lots of work. They refused to schedule an appointment without me telling them what the other place recommended, even after I explained that I wanted them to do an independent assessment to check whether I actually needed the recommended changes. The woman on the phone then told me that everything that was recommended from the other place wasn't necessary... without knowing what they recommended and without looking at my car which was concerning. They also don't have a taxi service and you are not allowed to wait for you car and instead they need it for a full day which can be hard to coordinate if you don't have another ride. read more

I want to say thank you to Scott and the Capital Car Care team. My family has been a long time customer and always received excellent service that was fair and honest. Yesterday (9/3/24) my 2006 Scion Xb driver's side rocker panel plastic cover started to popoff and under it you could see rust, a hole. I went to Capital for advise on a body shop and after a quick talk with Scott regarding the plan for how much longer I planned to keep the Scion, a few more years, and its worth, a thousand or two tops, Scott came up with a very simple solution. He found areas of good metal/no rust and drilled a screw to hold the plastic panel in place and the car is now looking good. First of all, my partner and I are new to Virginia and we didn't know who to trust when it came to an issue with our Prius. Originally we brought our car to a chain but they said they didn't work on electric cars or hybrids so we went to a dealership. Boy was that a mistake! We were handed a 4k quote for an engine timing cover leak, sway bar leak, throttle body and a fuel injection service. Knowing nothing about cars we decided to postpone any major car trips until we received a second opinion. This is where our service with Capital Car Care came in- they have great reviews already and were close to home so I gave them a call and they immediately got me an appointment, assured me they'd take a look at what was quoted and get things straightened out. Turns out, the amount of oil leaking? I quote "the amount you'd get if you licked your finger". They were horrified by what I was quoted and said NONE of the repairs were necessary and didn't even charge me for looking at my vehicle. Needed to get the boots replaced on my front axle to pass inspection. Scott also found that front brakes were low and I authorized that. Work done the next day and they even inspected the car free of charge so I did not have to go back to the old place. So glad I discovered Capital Car Care in Springfield. I've had a variety of issues with my cars, and Capital has always fixed them right the first time. Capital seems to use only quality parts, costing a bit more but worth it. Capital also seems to do a little extra at no cost. I noticed they re-attached a plastic baffle under my car, that I had screwed up. Even the lady at check-in knows about cars. Even better, Capital's location makes it convenient to public transportation, negating the need for a second driver. Capital will clearly tell you when your car will be ready, and tells you if they are backed up and repairs will take a bit longer. No guessing. Ez and Scott have been working on my families vehicles since they opened 30 plus years ago and they're fantastic, the best in the business. I've been going to their shop since I was six or seven years old. My dad owned a company in Springfield and all his cars and trucks were serviced by CCC. I myself started driving 24 years ago and they've worked on, rebuilt, fixed and serviced every vehicle I've ever owned. I value their opinion so highly I actually call them before I buy each vehicle to make sure I don't need to wipe my feet after I get out of it. For those that don't understand, to make sure I'm not stepping into crap. CCC is a family run business with three generations working together. I remember when Scott was a young man and now his son works on my vehicles. It's kind of weird but I guess I'm just getting old. Two other techs Frank and Jeff have also worked there for longer than I can remember, probably since day one, I don't remember CCC without them. That's a sign of a shop that's run right and run by good people. Some mechanics have the habit of bouncing around but CCC has zero turnover which eliminates the risk of getting someone that doesn't know what they're doing. I definitely don't want any rookies working on my stuff. Marriage has me living in Maryland now and my wife always used to ask me why I still go all the way to Springfield for a mechanic? I think she just didn't like following me there when I needed a ride home? She finally understood when she got her oil changed at Jiffy Lube and they put her drain plug back in so tight that they cracked the oil pan and the motor burned up. CCC put a new engine in it 3 years and over 90,000 miles ago and again, no issues. Guess who does all of her service now? I think JL is a couple bucks per oil change cheaper and off course they refused to pay for the damages, so what did she save in the long run? Life lesson for cheapskates: Good things are never cheap and cheap things are never good. It costs more money to fix it twice than to fix it right the first time. I started writing this review and I wondered how many times I've used CCC so I decided to look back at my 2013 receipts. My company has 4 trucks and we had 14 oil changes and 3 other minor repairs done last year. I think it's safe to say I've used CCC hundreds of times in the past 24 years. I've yet to have a complaint or even any constructive criticism. Personally I have this issue that if somebody built it I can break it, and yes I have the driving record prove it. Literally when I pull in (or sometimes get pulled in) they laugh and ask "what'd you break now Billy?" My standard response is "something you haven't fixed yet." My reason for saying that is because other than normal wear and tear (parts like brakes and tires) I've never had a vehicle go back for the same repair twice. Once CCC fixes it, it's done and done right. This is a first class operation and there aren't enough stars on Yelp to show how good they really are. Great family, great work . read more

This place has taken care of my 2003 Cr-V many times and each time has done a superb job even offering a full explanation of what they did, and why they did it, and what caused the problem along with showing me the parts they replaced. I've never had my car here for more than a few days and they've contacted me each time telling me what they're doing and asking for permission to do extra. CCC is the best shop I have run across. First, they won't fix what you don't need fixed. Next, they don't strap you high prices. They also know what they are talking about. My wife can go in and get the same answer I would. They aren't like other shops that have an "advisor" tell you what you need done. You are usually talking to the guy that is working on your car. Here is an example: We had a Honda Pilot throw a coil and basically blow the whole valve. Now they could have taken me for a valve job and it may have gotten me back on the road, however, it would have been a money pit from that point forward. We could have replaced the engine, but really the money I would have dropped on that made for a nice down payment on my new Mazda. They even asked me what I was looking for as far as make and model and gave an honest positive opinion on the Mazda. I have not seen that type of personal attention from any business in a long long time. It is like taking a trip back in time every time I walk in. They are a neighborhood favorite. read more

This crew fixed a seemingly "impossible" problem I had with my car last year to help get my emissions to pass after I had been throug the ringer on MULTIPLE occasions with the Exxon at Kings Park shopping center down the street, leaving me with a slew of tickets for expired tags while they promised to fix my problem after I would drive it all over fairfax so it could register some BS reader....long story....nutshell, don't go there, come here. Capital Car Care diagnosed my problem same day and had it fixed the next! The crew is super nice and honest. I, too, have been meaning to write a review from Capital Car Care. I started going to them when I found out at least 3 of my coworkers go to them and one of them knows Scot and his family personally. It is conveniently across the street from my office, so I can drop it off and pick it up when it is ready. I've been going to them for almost 3 or 4 years now. It is a nice family owned business. Scott, his father, and Lauren are very friendly, courteous, and honest and when it comes to the maintenance and care of my car. Scott even helps find good deals when it comes to the changing of my tires. I've had him change my tires twice already and both times, I've been able to get a special rebate. The only other things to be aware and that I recommend is: a.) since they tend to get busy, I recommend to drop your car off and do something while they work on it. And b.) just be aware it's in a tight location so it can easily be passed and parking might be a little tight. I will continue to see them for my maintenance needs. read more

They have always gotten me in same day or next day, fair priced, and have looked over my car a couple of times when dealership mentioned some issues after factory recall. I've brought all of my cars there over the years. They aren't ones to sell you repairs you don't need. The prices are reasonable, too, generally, if a little erratic. For instance I had nearly the complete brake system replaced in my truck. (No, they did not upsell me on a new brake system -- I came to them and asked for it). Not just new brake pads, but new lines, new drums and rotors, new calipers. and they did it for an incredible low price. But then one other time what I thought was a minor repair surprised me on the high side. But overall I have saved a lot of money with these guys and the quality of the work is good. read more

Spent over $600 for timing belting & water pump replacement less than 3 months ago for my daughters car. Took it to the dealer for an oil change special today & they pointed out the cam seal & crank seal were not replaced by Capital, and leaking oil. Dealer said it is standard to replace those when replacing timing belt. Now new timing belt has oil all over it. Dealer only wants $79 more than I paid Capital, with a 12mo 12K mile warranty vs Capitals 90 Day warranty. Now have to go back to Capital & the whole thing must be done over. Lesson learned -- went there on a neighbors recommendation Time & money NOT well spent. read more
