As the only Vietnamese dedicated coffee shop in Flushing, Caphe Den (#1) is definitely capitalizing on a niche and one that is on the rise in demand. However, given the sub-standard Viet options throughout NYC, my expectations couldn't be smaller, They surprised me in some areas and disappointed in others, but ultimately I'm happy for their presence in the neighborhood. The place is small and only offers counter seating with a small lover's seat in the corner. It is handicap accessible with the ramp and gives off a pseudo-trendy vibe with a bit of modern aesthetic. I could totally see this being a great date friendly spot when it's quiet or a remote work destination. While counter ordering is available, a majority of folks are doing it through a self-serve touch screen station. My large group of Vietnamese visitors ordered practically every drink from the coffee and milk tea section, so I got to sample a good amount. Overall the fruit drinks and milk tea got the most thumbs up, where as the coffee had mixed reviews. Personally, the signature ca phe sua da was just average. They went a bit heavy with the ice and I felt the condensed milk ratio was also a little disappointing. I felt the same with the black coffee equivalent, which was better. I thought their bac xiu (creamy Saigon style latte) was pretty solid and the cream coffee was the overwhelming favorite in the group. There are few food options, but I dig the cookies from btr bakes (#2) and the sometimes-free bananas. Service is a lot like the coffee: hot and cold. The first time was cold, since the counter folks seemed stressed with our Viet group that had crowded up half the store and struggled to communicate in Viet. The last time on just my own was significantly better, but it might also be because they were slower than usual. I am looking forward to coming back and indulging on their other drinks. Cute Vietnamese cafe in Flushing. They open early which is great (7am ET). We tried their egg cream coffee which was pretty good. You can adjust the condense milk level and we went with 30%, ice level was set and we got a size large to share. The coffee flavor is robust and well rounded, one of the better Viet coffees I've had. I wish the egg cream was a bit easier to mix in and drink, it was a bit difficult to get through the straw and to mix. Aside from that flavor was good and service was smooth and quick (no line). Alas, dedicated Viet coffee in Queens. I've come here numerous times and even brought some out-of-town guests here. The coffee has been very consistent. If you're used to higher milk ratio-based lattes, the coffee may likely be too strong for your taste since Viet coffee is traditionally steeped slower (hence more concentrated), but I don't know if they actually use a Phin in their brewing process. I've pretty much tried most of their menu and the Coconut Frappe, hands down, is my favorite - it takes me back to a recent trip to Ha Noi. Most of the other drinks have a very thick layer of cream that takes awhile to fully absorb into the coffee and you don't really want to drink the cream layer first. Dunno if the hype has really calmed down since its opening since I go during off-peak hours but I never have to wait more than 5 minutes. I wanted to love this place as I was really excited for the idea of a Vietnamese coffee cafe but there is something odd about their foams. It's just ... sticky ... almost like marshmallow? It doesn't mix with the drink at all, so I hate to say it's really just not a good idea to top a liquid drink with this weird sticky product. It's also concerning to me because the consistency of marshmallow is commonly achieved using gelatin. I'm wondering if a representative wants to respond and confirm what is in the foam that makes it so sticky? I was only able to drink halfway before the liquid was gone and my cup was just ice and sticky stuff. Really not appealing. You can't even drink the sticky stuff. It is just such a weird consistency that gets clogged up in your straw. I got 2 drinks -- the iced Vietnamese coffee topped with black sesame "foam" and a coconut water latte topped with matcha "foam" -- and before tip it was $19. Whether that's worth it is subjective but I wouldn't return for what we got at that price. Both drink's foams were the consistency of glue. I'm from California where the egg coffee is very prevalent, so when I came to NYC and realized that there is few and far in between here I was elated to hear about this place. First time ordering here and upon entering, the place is on the smaller side with seating for maybe 3 parties of 2. There was only one guy manning the counter so don't expect a huge team of people, and the place is on a less busy part of town where there isn't as much foot traffic. Egg coffee here is delicious, a little on the pricey side, and STRONG. I didn't go in having the highest expectations as there isn't enough competition around these parts to challenge cafes to outdo eachother, so this option was great. When I'm out in flushing and craving a coffee instead of their iconic boba options, I'll come back. It's nice that it's rather close to Chongqing Lao Zao too, so that you can have your coffee before dinner. AFTER placing my order on the kiosk, I see a tiny 3x5" sign on receipt paper taped below the register that says "average wait time 30 minutes" and another that says 45 MINUTES next to it. I left and came back 30-40 minutes, waited a few, just to see that my drink was there the whole time?! I noticed no one was calling out any numbers and people who came in after me just started walking up to pick up their orders. $11.80 for a large iced cream coffee??? Came in around 12:45pm on a Friday and it was pretty busy with a lot of delivery orders. I was definitely intrigued by a Vietnamese coffee place in a sea of dominant Chinese/Korean coffee places in the area. I ordered the Matcha with Ube Cream (extra $1.99) and my partner got the Vietnamese Black Coffee. Not much to say about the Vietnamese Black Coffee other than yes, it is strong as f but thats what Viet Coffee is. The Matcha Latte had a pretty strong Matcha flavor/presence. Note: it also takes a lot longer to come out than the other drinks because they whisk the matcha properly so be prepared to wait. I was disappointed with the amount of Ube Cream I got with my drink when it seemed like all the other drinks that had cream in it was at least 1/4 of the overall cup? If you're looking to work remote, I would highly advise looking for another place. Seating is extremely limited (there are 2 small tables in the back that seat 2 people comfortably, and 2 stools for a side table), no restroom available for customer use, wifi was not working (it is advertised by the counter but it wasn't working on 3/1), and when we first walked in there was no music playing but then it started blasting as soon as my Partner got on a work call (I think this was to tell us to gtfo but to be clear this call wasn't planned and it got scheduled last minute right before we walked in). read more

Caphe Den was a treat on a morning when I was feeling especially sluggish. I ordered an iced Black Sesame Cream Coffee - a Phin drip Vietnamese condensed milk coffee with black sesame cream. You have a choice of straws (thin eco-friendly; medium sustainable straw made from coffee grounds; or a fat plastic boba-style straw) to sip your coffee. I can't even call it a coffee though, it was so creamy delicious, I slurped it up like a coffee shake. Afterwards I finished the drink, I poured filtered water from my thermos into the cup over the pebble-shaped ice and there was still enough remnants of the rich cream foam and coffee to enjoy. My husband ordered the Egg Cream Coffee Cà Phê Trứng - Phin drip Vietnamese condensed milk coffee with egg cream which he was swooning over. This from a diehard 4-espresso shot aficionado. When we left the cafe, we definitely had a caffeine spring in our step! The cafe is tiny with only 2 tables and a counter with 4-5 stools. The two baristas were constantly busy with takeout orders, literally did not stop making coffee drinks even though there was only one other customer inside. It took about 10 minutes for them to make our drinks but it was worth the wait! I'm happy to see a business thriving! Came here on a busy Saturday where waits was approx 30 minutes- ordering on the kiosk was easy enough but text alerts were very delayed. Therefore it was best just to stay in the vicinity to pick up your order. (Got my text 30 mins after I had already picked up and consumed my drink). The space is immaculately designed for story telling and great vibes- it's small and seats about 4-6 comfortably. On a busy Saturday though you're better off waiting on their ramp/outside. This spot is new to Flushing and is a very small with aesthetic interior. There is a huge ramp so I am assuming it's wheelchair accessible Coffee was pretty yummy even tho the egg cream was hella thiccc (like with 3 c's lol) so the mixing actually took some effort and I do not recommend sipping without a straw as we couldn't get much coffee through the egg cream layer. They offer 100%, 50% and 30% sweetness. We got 50% (seems like the baseline regular)and 30% (for the less sweet peeps even tho it was still quite sweet). They seemed kinda the same to me tbh.
