I stayed here for a four day trip and had an amazing time! The room was in good condition, but we did have a tiny moth problem in the bathroom (nothing that ruined our stay though). However, the pullout couch was not the most comfortable so if you have a bad back, you might want to just rent another room. The location is unbeatable. You're less than a minute walk from the beach and have a great view of the east side of the cape. The host, Robin, was friendly and made some top notch, homemade breakfasts, even better than some restaurants that I've been too. Would definitely recommend!! read more

This was my first bed & breakfast so I have nothing to really compare. The room was clean and fresh. The innkeeper was kind and easy going. The breakfast and sitting area upstairs were inviting & bright. Mimosas for a small fee. We did see a few roaches wandering around but I suspect that's part of living in a warm & wet environment. Bikes available to borrow but beware they're not all in working order. My boyfriend's bike wouldn't allow him to use the brakes without the chain falling off. We had to stop mid ride for him to fix the chain which left his hands greasy for the remainder of our ride to the lighthouse. My main disappointment was location. While it is walking distance to the beach, it's not ON the beach. The town of Buxton was fairly run down. Next time I'd opt to stay in Hatteras, which we actually mistakenly thought we were when we booked. read more

After reading several positive reviews of this place, my wife and I decided to go here for our honeymoon during the week of Labor Day. This place is run by an incredibly friendly and hospitable couple. The rooms and common areas are very nice and clean, but if the weather is as fantastic like it was when we went, you won't be spending much time inside! Every morning, Virginia and Jed whip up a delicious breakfast. When we were there, we could choose between an amazing quiche, fantastic homemade granola, or an incredible "traditional Southern" breakfast or a specialty item that changed daily. These specialty items tended to be somewhat exotic, like Eggs Florentine. I cannot emphasize how great the food is. I didn't even know typical breakfast items like bacon or oatmeal could taste as good as they do here! You're on your own for lunch and dinner but in the afternoons they put out tea, coffee and cookies for the guests. The Cape Hatteras B&B is a short hop from the beach. Jed and Virginia are nice enough to include some items you might need for the beach. Towels, coolers, boogie boards, umbrellas etc. They even include a few bikes if you want to putt around town. A nice idea considering there's lots of great restaurants and a lighthouse nearby. Overall I can't recommend this place enough. If you're heading to the Outer Banks, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. read more

If you're traveling to the Outer Banks with a bunch of friends/family and you want to get away from all the hustle/bustle and instead feel like you own the ocean, there are plenty of great houses you can rent weekly in Rodanthe, Waves, Avon, and Salvo. If you're traveling to the Outer Banks with the love of your life for a weekend or longer and you want to stay in a charming, reasonably-priced, updated bed and breakfast run by a friendly, young couple who can make you feel taken care of and who can make a mean breakfast, this is the place for you. The town of Buxton is near the bottom of the Outer Banks and plenty far away from the overpopulated beaches for those who crave roomy beaches, but it's also got its fair share of restaurants/services for those who fear isolation. The Cape Hatteras B&B is located on a quiet street off the main road, one block from the ocean. I can't speak for the other rooms, but if you stay in the Andrew room like we did, and you leave the window open, you'll fall asleep to the sounds of ocean waves taking their rightful place on the beach. There's a second floor patio area w/ grill (which you can use) where you can picnic and enjoy a view of the ocean over the sand dunes. If you want to get out and explore, the inn offers plenty of bikes with baskets and locks. My wife and I biked down to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (the signature tourist spot for Buxton, which you shouldn't miss) and then kept biking to a remote beach we had all to ourselves. The inn also offers beach chairs and towels and beach toys for the kid with/in you. If you want to stay in, your room has a comfortable bed with pillows that are neither too soft nor too firm. You can enjoy a flat screen TV with plenty of cable TV channel options. You can snack on food you've brought with you and stored in the mini-fridge. You can enjoy the wine you brought with you in the B&B-provided wine glasses (wine/bottle opener provided). You can play some classic games (backgammon was our choice) provided by the B&B. The B&B also offers ice and water cooler water (which you'll carry to your room in the B&B provided carafe). And for those with a sweet tooth, there are cookies/treats/iced tea left out each afternoon. When morning rolls around, you'll have a choice of three or four breakfasts and three eating times. We stayed here in 2009 when Cathy was the proprietor and had an amazing stay. It was cheap for what it is; the small room was well kept (if not recently updated) and food was good. It even had bikes, beach chairs, balls, etc. in the garage for the beach, which is literally a block from the B&B. We wanted a repeat this year and booked a room, thinking it was the same room. We didn't get that one, but had a pleasant surprise when we got there - Cathy has since left and two new younger proprietors have taken over - Victoria and Jed. The rooms have received a much-needed update, with a new bathroom outlay and new shower, a new remote controlled AC unit, and a flat screen TV. There's now a common room where our old room was with a microwave, water cooler and a new ice machine. Heck, the website pictures don't yet do it justice. The place is great - a simple, neat room, a common room, a breakfast room upstairs, a living room and a sun deck. It's very close to the Buxton beach and it has two outside showers. Victoria's cooking was excellent. You get a sheet with three regular meals - a fruit, granola and yogurt meal, a traditional southern meal, a quiche meal, or the special to choose from. (My favorite was the Huevos Rancheros). There's even home-made cookies and iced tea in the mid-day if you're around. Overall, I really enjoyed staying here. We stayed at this B&B this past weekend. Robyn was an incredible hostess, very friendly and made us feel right at home. She had prepared two wonderful meals for us Saturday and Sunday. The room we stayed in was very clean, the bed was so comfortable, and she had put some very special touches with waters and ice waiting for us, as we arrived very late Friday night. We felt right at home, the room had everything we needed. We enjoyed the time in Hatteras and spent the day exploring the beach, which was just steps away, and we went south to Ocracoke. We ate dinner and enjoyed Sushi at the recommended Diamond Shoals restaurant, right around the corner. For a birthday getaway in early November, this was a perfect place. Just finished a weekend stay. Definitely the best place to stay on the island, and one of my favorite B&B's anywhere. Open 2nd Floor patio for guests is perfect for watching the ocean and the stars, rooms are clean and well decorated. Breakfast is unbelievable, try the shrimp and grits if you come. They also allow guests to use their bikes to cycle around the village, and they lend out beach gear (coolers, chairs, etc.) to guests as well. Staff is friendly. Cannot recommend enough! (Quick aside - I was not personal bothered by this, but I will note that guests who are noise sensitive should be aware the Charlie room is below the patio and gets some of the noise from above.) All in all a great place to stay! read more

Jed welcomed us with short tour and interesting conversation while enjoying glass of wine followed by delicious warm chocolate chip cookies. Nice outside deck with view of walk to beach. Very comfortable bed, clean and cool room "Charlie" with shower and bath. Virginia and Jed provided towels, chairs, umbrella which made our experience on the beach very comfortable! The outdoor shower was welcomed after romp in the seashore sand. Breakfasts prepared by Virginia were excellent! Appreciate the easy access to water bottles and reading materials. Enjoyed dinners at Rusty's Sand and Surf as well as Cafe at Pamlico Inn. Wish we could have stayed longer! Next time will plan further ahead than two weeks!Bicycles provided were awesome for riding out to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse! read more

This is the place to stay if ur visiting the obx. We were there for a week and were treated and feed wonderful while we were there. The room was clean and very cute, Virginia and Jed were so friendly and helpful with letting us know what was in the area. Breakfast was amazing, truly truly amazing. There are 3 regular choices and a daily special. I was very happy with the food, Virginia is a amazing cook. There are also cookies daily and coffee and tea. There is also water, ice and a microwave for you to use. Along with beach chairs, beach towels, bikes, coolers and umbrella to borrow to the short walk to the beach. The area is also great for it being more of a laid back place to be there are still things to do and see and of course the beach is amazing and clear and clean. The people are also super friendly. This was a wonderful place to stay and we had a great time. read more

We stayed here for a few nights over a holiday weekend. While it was okay, it was not as nice as most of the other B&Bs my husband and I have stayed, but the good thing was it was considerably (way) cheaper than the others- especially for a holiday weekend. The owner, Cathy, is very nice, as is the chef who prepared us breakfast (I can't recall what her name was). We enjoyed chatting with the other guests during breakfast in the mornings. Our room was okay, although we booked our reservation too late to get a king sized bed, and ended up in a room with two double beds on the first floor (the Gloria room). The bathroom in the room really, really needs to be renovated. I am not sure what the other rooms were like, but our bathroom was TINY and very out dated. Shower is tiny. My husband kept talking about all the changes he would make if he owned it (he loves renovating things). The towels are thinning and need to be replaced. Also the air conditioner in our room was very loud. There was no ice maker for guests, just a small bag of ice that was in a common area refrigerator. Okay, but not super duper. read more

Thanks to Cathy for her gracious, southern hospitality. The Outer Banks were a late add to our travel itinerary. I didn't want to drive on down without knowing where we were staying. A quick phone call meant the room was set up and ready when we arrived after dark. Along with the other beach toys for use, Cathy had a variety of bicycles available for our use. So nice to get in a bike ride along with some beach time. Though we shouldn't have gone far in search of a nice beach, the access around the corner allowed for an easy walk to the beach with no cars. The coffee was fine, though I prefer unflavored, and the breakfast tasty. When we let our hosts know we didn't eat meat they accommodated us with some eggs and croissants. Our room was very clean and comfortable. I appreciated having a small fridge with freezer compartment as we could refreeze our freezer packets. Cathy was a lovely host and her sitting room was a pleasant spot to relax in the evening over a game of scrabble. read more

Our expectations were greatly exceeded with the cleanliness, friendliness, and amazing people who run the bed and breakfast. The breakfast was amazing and the host was so friendly!! We are considering kicking off all of our Outerbanks vacations with a stay here. We cannot recommend this place enough. My wife and I came to town for a quick stop over and a wedding. While our timeframe did not allow us to stay longer, we will definitely be back to spend some time here. The room was fantastic and the hospitality we were met with was memorable. A quick walk to the beach with the beach chairs and towels was a nice touch. I can't wait to come back and use the bikes and dine. Virginia was so welcoming it felt like we were staying over at a friends house. Hank greeted us also and I am not sure who entertained who more. Stayed in Cape Hatteras B + B for two nights on our Outer Banks trip. The outside is nothing special but the room we stayed in was completely renovated and the bathroom was current with a spacious very clean shower. I really appreciate clean modern showers. There is also an outdoor deck for relaxing and a shared common area room that is comfortable for reading or playing games. Robin, the manager, is a hoot and really knowledgeable of the area and helpful in choosing places to eat. She cooks a very plentiful breakfast to order - whatever you want from eggs and hash browns to waffles. You don't go away hungry. The B + B is an easy walk to the beach where we did several evening walks. Other people did morning walks and picked up some pretty shells. I would definitely stay again if I every get back to Hatteras. read more

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in June of 2016. We rented the Gloria room. It was an absolutely wonderful stay. The facilities were very well kept, everything was exceptionally clean. The breakfast was a wonderful bonus each morning. We loved every second of staying at the Bed and Breakfast and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Outer Banks. My family has vacationed here since I was born in 1990 and we know the islands very well. The Bed and Breakfast has the charm of Hatteras but makes you feel like you're staying in an upscale hotel in. I have stayed in many places over our years vacationing here and this is by far my favorite. We will be back hopefully sooner rather than later! read more

My husband and I recently stayed at Cape Hatteras Bed and Breakfast for four nights to celebrate our one year anniversary at the end of April 2012. A young and friendly couple, Virginia and Jed, run the inn and are wonderful hosts. I knew from the first phone call to the inn that I had made the right decision. Virginia was so warm and helpful on the phone, so I knew right away that we were going to have a great weekend. The inn itself is very homey and we enjoyed the easy access to the rooms since they have outside entrances. The upstairs common area is gorgeous and so comfortable, and the view of the lighthouse during the day and at night is outstanding. The inn provides everything you need to enjoy the beach - towels, chairs, bicycles, buckets, etc. - and it is located only a half block away from the beautiful beach. The inn is perfectly situated to allow you to enjoy any part of the Outer Banks as a day trip, whether you want to take the ferry to Ocracoke or drive up north to Nags Head or Manteo. We wanted to enjoy the OBX without the hustle and bustle of the northern beaches, so the inn's location was perfect. There were plenty of things for us to do (or not do if you just want to relax) and lots of places to eat out for lunch or dinner. Virginia's breakfasts were delicious and we appreciated being able to choose what we wanted to eat each day. Every afternoon she bakes a different kind of cookie and each day they were phenomenal!! At breakfast each morning my husband excitedly asked about the cookie of the day and made a point to rush home each afternoon to sample the scrumptious treats. I cannot say enough nice things about Virginia and Jed and the Cape Hatteras Bed and Breakfast. They are some of the friendliest and most genuine people I have met, particularly at a B&B, and they go out of their way to make the guests feel welcome. We are looking forward to planning a return trip to the Outer Banks, and as long as Virginia and Jed are the innkeepers we are definitely staying at this inn. read more

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary for only one night but it was a wonderful place to stay. They have cookies, coffee, tea, candy, and fruit when you check in. They also have glass carafes you can fill with filtered water and take to your room which was very nice because usually we have to lug around and buy bottled water for our rooms elsewhere. The staff was very friendly and Virginia, one of the owners, cooked breakfast the next morning from scratch. I got her homemade vanilla yogurt with homemade granola and fresh fruit. My husband ordered the scrambled eggs, potatoes, and bacon and all of it was very good! The place itself is gorgeous and they are a very short walk to the beach. They offer beach towels, chairs, beach toys for children, and outside showers to rinse off. All free of charge. It was clean, the bed and room was very bright, cheerful, and comfortable. Bathroom was gorgeous! I would love to go back and stay a few days! read more

I recently stayed the weekend at the Cape Hatteras Bed and Breakfast with my mom for her birthday. Although the weather wasn't great, we had a great time!!! Brenda was so welcoming and made us a priority. The room was gorgeous and very clean. We had a different (delicious!) breakfast every morning. Nice location.
