The trips went well…read more Keep in mind that these boating trips are highly dependent on the weather and what may seem like good condition conditions on land are not always the same out on the ocean. The trip can get canceled, so it's best to book them during a time where you'll still be able to reschedule if needed. Both our fishing trip and the sunset cruise were canceled due to poor conditions, but because I booked them earlier in the week, we were able to reschedule and still do both later in the week. My daughter (who is only 9) got sea sick on the fishing trip, which was a bummer but the crew and other passengers were very kind and helpful. There needed up being several sick people on the trip. It seems like a norm for this kind of thing. I guess you don't know until you try it. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more info about how long it would take to get out of the sound and how long you would actually get to fish. Of the 4 hours we booked, we fished for maybe a little over an hour. It took 1 hour to get out and 1 hour to get back. Then there is moving around in between. My son loved it though. He caught several fish and was able to take a couple home. Overall, it was an interesting experience and I would take my son again. The sunset dolphin cruise was great. The crew was awesome and the music was nice. We didn't see any dolphin but I knew booking that it was a maybe. I'm a glass half full kind of person, so it depends on your expectations and how you handle things. Just cruising around on a boat with the sun going down was super nice. I was a little worried because it said smoking was allowed on the boat, but thankfully no one was smoking because it would've made me sick and I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. Another cool highlight of the trip was that on the sunset cruise there was a kid fishing off the back (a family member of the captain I assume) and he allowed my son to fish with him. A fish was caught, and he told my son he could take it home. The captain even fillet the fish at the dock for us. It was such a fun and unique experience. Everyone run Miss Hatteras was great!

I recommend you de-stress by going for a trip on the Miss Hatteras! She is a fishing boat that sails out of the picturesque Oden Dock in Hatteras, N.C. Our leader for the trip was Captain KP Scott, also the owner, and is supported by first mates Chase and Wolfie. Natalie Scott is also a Captain but most frequently is the one booking your trip over the phone and does all kind of other important tasks. All were friendly, helpful and professional. The half day trip is approximately six or seven miles off shore. Trigger fish and black sea bass are most commonly caught. Please be generous with these hard-working mates, 25 percent tip based on the trip cost is a reasonable gratuity. Highly recommend the Miss Hatteras!

When Dare County issued a mandatory evacuation due to Hurricane Erin, I was forced to leave my rental halfway through my stay. Despite paying nearly $5,000 for the second week, Midgett Realty refused to refund a single dollar. They hid behind a "forced field" checkbox about insurance buried in the booking process -- yet I never signed a lease, and their system still allowed me to book, pay in full, and check in. What makes this worse is the constant stream of promotional emails I received from Midgett about discounts on kayaks and beach gear, while they did little to clearly warn or emphasize protecting my stay through travel insurance. Clearly, sales come first -- customer protection comes last. After decades of loyalty to the Outer Banks, I will never book through Midgett Realty again. I've already filed a complaint with the North Carolina Department of Justice, and I will be sharing my experience with friends, family, and locals in the community so others can see how renters are treated when disaster strikes. If you're considering booking through Midgett Realty, be warned: when you need them most, they will not stand by you.

Have called multiple times about the crappy cleaning job in the rental and they've done nothing. Dead bugs, human hair, rings from glasses on Unwiped granite. Absolutely disgusting and I had to clean it. There were also dozens of flies in the house, flying around in the kitchen and bedrooms. Also our door code was wrong. We had to call and get bounced around "after hours" (it was 5:45) to get in the house. They have no information about the advertised pool that's "a few streets away" but actually a mile away. No hours or opening times. I called about this and the woman gave me the address to the pool. Unhelpful. And the photos on the website are photoshopped. They make the queen bed look like a king so they can make that bedrooms larger bath look like the master. The actual master bathroom is tiny. Huge rips in the screen doors so we can't have the patio door open.

It was by far the absolute worst vacation experience that I and my family have ever had. I have contemplated writing this review for awhile now, and receiving promotional emails from OBR has prompted me to follow through in the hope that it might save someone else from making the same mistake we did by renting from this company We were a group of 5 - my husband, my elderly parents, my 5 year old and myself. We live in western NC, and the trip to get to Rodanthe is about 9-10 hour drive. We decided to break long drive up by leaving on Friday and spending the night halfway at a hotel, since we were concerned about my elderly father (84 years old and with Parkinson's and cancer) sitting too long in the car. While we were already on the road, we received a call from OBR (a day before check-in) that the AC in our rental house was not working - but parts had been ordered and the AC would be repaired early in our stay. They said they had placed window units in the house. When we arrived at our check-in time, we found that the house was indeed without AC and window units were running. However, these units did almost nothing to change the temperature in the house. There were a total of 3 units - one in the living room, one in two of the four bedrooms in the house. The temperature in the house stayed between 79-85 degrees the entire length of our stay! My son had to sleep with my husband and I because the kids bedroom with the bunk beds was unusable due to the heat. He was extremely disappointed (as were we!) as he'd been looking forward to using the bunk beds. The other bedroom that was unusable was one that my sister was planning to use - as she was going to join us a few days into our trip. She cancelled her plans due to the lack of AC. The temperatures outside in late August were in the 90's. So we paid for a 4 bedroom house where only half the bedrooms were usable. We had many conversations with people at OBR over the course of our stay. They sent a repair person out to check on the status of the repair, and he informed us that no parts had been ordered for the AC units and in fact they had not been working for several months!!! He said other people had stayed at this house before us in the weeks prior and had complained also. So, it became clear to us that OBR had totally LIED to us about the house. We had purchased travel insurance and could have cancelled our trip if they had let us know before we started driving there. They knew far in advance about the status of the AC. They only offered us a 20 percent refund. The entire trip was totally miserable because we could not relax at all in the house or sleep well while we were constantly sweating. My dad has mobility issues which is why we chose a house right on the water, so he could see the ocean without having to walk anywhere. The best times during the trip were when we got in the car to go somewhere else like a restaurant with AC. At the house we were constantly having to empty the water out of the AC units, and the drain on the electrical caused the breakers in the house to trip about every 15 minutes.... so we had to constantly turn the power back on and we could not watch tv because of this. The washer and drier was also not functional, so we could not wash out sweaty clothes. This is not what a vacation is supposed to be about!! One should not spend over 4,000.00 to be extremely stressed out!! We will NEVER rent a vacation property from Outer Beaches Realty again, and I encourage anyone reading this review not to either.

We were the…read moreonly two people from the company on site for the day but all aspects of the wedding were handled in a discreet and timely manner. Jennifer Diane did all florals on her own in addition to making sure the bridal party had what they needed. I helped set up reception tables and did whatever else I was told. There were a few setbacks from the day that we would have never seen coming, as happens with wedding days usually. Though we weren't provided enough cheese cloths for the tables, you would have never known due to the creative thinking of the team and the beautiful set up of the reception. Catering also delivered the bridal party's lunch to the wrong place but Jennifer Diane used her interpersonal skills, kind demeanor and confident authority to make sure no bridesmaid, nor groomsman walked down the aisle hungry. While the DJ worked out sound issues at this outdoor vendor, Jennifer Diane kept the bridal party in place and ready to go while also communicating with attendees in a calm and professional manner. Though any wedding day has its hiccups, Jennifer Diane is the one to handle those hiccups and allow brides and grooms to enjoy their day with little stress over the little things. Jennifer Diane is a joy to be around and even though I was working, I had a fun day - and I know the bride and groom did too! I'd work with Jennifer Diane again in a heartbeat and I recommend you do too!

It was extremely frustrating trying to figure out how to turn off the fan before bedtime. Kitchen has zero amenities. I mean none. The kitchen sink in room 137 is on the verge of backing up as evidenced by poor drainage. The bathroom shower is awful. You turn it on for the tub to run and warm up, as you turn the temperature down to less hot, with no intervention by the user, the shower starts to run. This is annoying if you want to use the bathtub or just wash your hair using the tub spigot with no shower. When you pull up the shower tab, it stops the tub spigot. The bathroom has zero amenities - no tissues, i got these from another guest, twice. No room service but towels are dropped off. The soap was a sliver, no hand soap so you have to bring your own or like i did, use the shampoo to wash your hands. I haven't used soap in years, only body wash and i wish i had brought my own. The soap was very drying. Another issue with the bathroom is the smell of mothballs coming from the ceiling fan. They can deny it all they want but when the fan runs, you can smell it almost immediately. There is no cup for toothbrushing so I had to use the mug from the kitchen. The window treatments are paper thin and do not block the light from outside. The room furniture is left over patio furniture with skimpy seat cushions and horrible to sit on. I padded the seat and back with bed pillows and it was still awful, similar to the comfort level of a medieval torture device used during the Spanish Inquisition. The coffee maker did not work. A new one was provided. The front desk response to issues/complaints was to tell you to check out. I obviously cannot recommend this place but if you do stay here, it is clean and quiet but offers nothing else. You need to supply a lot of items yourself, items that a normal hotel/motel provides.
