Our room in the annex house was very clean and came with plenty of towels, toiletries, and even a few extra pillows to add to our comfort. The bed, while featuring a very comfy mattress, probably would have benefitted from a softer blanket or duvet rather than the quilt that was on it- but it definitely wasn't unbearable (and I can definitely see some people preferring the lighter option a quilt provides). The inn also features a few common spaces, including plenty of patio sace, back yard, outdoor shower and a kitchen that serves the tastiest home-cooked breakfast i've had in a while-which is free with your stay! Finally, everyone we came across from the owners to their family and friends was SO nice! Everyone asked us multiple times if we needed anything and were quick to offer suggestions and tips to make the most out of our stay. While no five-star hotel (why would you want one on Ocracoke?) this inn is the perfect place to stay while vacationing on the island! Definitely give it a try- and be sure to try the fig cake too!

We have been coming to the Outer Banks since our college days (the late 1960s) and it has been amazing to watch the area evolve over the decades. Many of the other Outer Banks destinations like Kitty Hawk, Duck and Nags Head have experienced tremendous growth, but because Ocracoke is only accessible by ferry or boat, it has managed to remain the quaint, beautiful ocean adventure that first captured our hearts years ago. The inn is perfectly located right on Silver Lake Harbor in the heart of the village area, making it easy to walk or take a golf cart to restaurants, shops, and the waterfront. Our room was on the first floor and included a covered deck area with two white Adirondack chairs and a small table -- the perfect place to enjoy lunch or relax in the evening with a glass of wine while taking in the harbor views. The property offers several different types of accommodations ranging from single rooms to suites and cottages, making it a great fit for couples, families, or longer stays. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Having a refrigerator and microwave in the room made the stay even more convenient. The included continental breakfast each morning was a great touch, and we appreciated the complimentary coffee and tea available in the room as well as in the lobby at breakfast. The staff was friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, and housekeeping did an excellent job daily. We especially enjoyed the deck areas overlooking the harbor. One feature we really appreciated was the availability of golf carts right at the inn for a very reasonable price. They make getting around the village section of the island incredibly easy, especially in the evenings when restaurant parking can become difficult for cars. There always seems to be room for one more golf cart, and it adds to the fun and relaxed atmosphere that makes Ocracoke so special. The inn also offers many thoughtful amenities, including free Wi-Fi, free parking, bicycle rentals, fishing, boating activities, and easy access to kayaking, sailing, hiking, surfing, and boat tours nearby. If you are looking for a comfortable, relaxing, and authentic Ocracoke experience, The Ocracoke Harbor Inn is an excellent choice. We will be back, soon I hope.

After lunch and securing a golf cart for the weekend, we check into our room. Our first impression was not good, the porch was covered with junk, broken beach chairs, dirty plastic containers, ash trays with cigarette butts, etc. As we entered the front common area, it was also cluttered with junk and smelled of strong cigarette smoke. However, we were exhausted having travelled overnight, so we had a quick lunch, rented a golf cart nearby and decided to check in and take an afternoon nap. Unfortunately as we were resting, Pam taps on the door and walks on into the room to tell us that we have to leave because someone else had booked the room. She couldn't explain why and barely apologized. Other notes for this review: Pam's Pelican is completely dilapidated--in disrepair and dirty, overgrown with weeds/bushes, cobwebs on exterior shake walls, very narrow hazardous spiral stairs, raggedy gazebo with old rusted furniture (with more cigarette butts). I could go on and on but no words can describe just how trashy this place is, wish I had time to make pictures, but we were sent away with nowhere to go after just few hours.

The breakfast and sitting area upstairs were inviting & bright. Mimosas for a small fee. We did see a few roaches wandering around but I suspect that's part of living in a warm & wet environment. Bikes available to borrow but beware they're not all in working order. My boyfriend's bike wouldn't allow him to use the brakes without the chain falling off. We had to stop mid ride for him to fix the chain which left his hands greasy for the remainder of our ride to the lighthouse. My main disappointment was location. While it is walking distance to the beach, it's not ON the beach. The town of Buxton was fairly run down. Next time I'd opt to stay in Hatteras, which we actually mistakenly thought we were when we booked.

I found this gem on Yelp! Thank you Yelp!…read more It's a beautiful bed and breakfast, and the owners have exquisite taste in furnishings and decor. We stayed in the Beaufort Suite, and I slept like a baby in that huge comfortable bed with such soft linens. I love that we could control our room temp because we like it cold at night, and the unit cooled down quickly and quietly. The bathtub! Oh my! I want one of those so badly! We were there only one night, and I took two baths. The entire bathroom is stunningly gorgeous, well lit, and so spacious. You had hot water within seconds of turning the shower on, and it didn't cool down even a little bit. The Inn is located at a perfect spot, as it's a quick walk to everything you'd want to do in Belhaven. There are condos directly across the street which block the water view, but a vacant lot next to those allow for a beautiful view. The breeze coming off the water is wonderful. Happy hour was a nice treat, and enjoyable. Gail and Alan are great hosts, easy to chat with, and also interesting to converse with. They really do make you feel right at home, and act as if they've known you forever. (Don't worry though, they also leave you alone if that's what you prefer.) They have a great outdoor area to just sit, or swing, and enjoy the peacefulness of this quaint town. We loved our stay there.

Booking was easy with friendly service. Arrival was contactless and we never met or saw anyone during our stay of three days. The cottage was on a second level with a flight of steps which as a surprise because I had not noticed that from pictures. It was fine for us but might be difficult if traveling with someone with mobility issues. Inside, everything was so cute and clean and they had anticipated our every need. The kitchen had coffee, snacks and cereal and the fridge was pack with delicious breakfast items and treats like fresh backed goods. The yogurt appeared to be homemade and was delicious! The bed as comfortable and the rain shower was delightful. They even supplied the bags for our dogs potty trips. The main inn was unoccupied during COVID so we had the beautiful back yard garden all to ourselves. The view of the water was blocked since the cottage is behind the main house but the town docks were very close by, just a very short walk. Because of COVID, a lot of the restaurants in town were closed in the middle of the week but there was enough available for our needs. We visited in September 2020 and it was just what we needed, a quiet get away after working 7 days a week since March. We loved it and highly recommend it as a nice, quiet place to get away and have your every need thoughtfully met.
