However, the pullout couch was not the most comfortable so if you have a bad back, you might want to just rent another room. The location is unbeatable. You're less than a minute walk from the beach and have a great view of the east side of the cape. The host, Robin, was friendly and made some top notch, homemade breakfasts, even better than some restaurants that I've been too. Would definitely recommend!!

The breakfast and sitting area upstairs were inviting & bright. Mimosas for a small fee. We did see a few roaches wandering around but I suspect that's part of living in a warm & wet environment. Bikes available to borrow but beware they're not all in working order. My boyfriend's bike wouldn't allow him to use the brakes without the chain falling off. We had to stop mid ride for him to fix the chain which left his hands greasy for the remainder of our ride to the lighthouse. My main disappointment was location. While it is walking distance to the beach, it's not ON the beach. The town of Buxton was fairly run down. Next time I'd opt to stay in Hatteras, which we actually mistakenly thought we were when we booked.

We easily visited Corolla, Duck and Kitty Hawk while also enjoying Manteo. We would love to stay here again in the future! The Inn itself is very clean and has a lot of interesting history that Lee (the manager) will happily share with you. The rooms are well kept and super clean with plenty of amenities available. The continental breakfast is thoughtfully provided with fresh fruit salad and an array of cereal, bread and other options. They also have plenty of coffee and a tea station that I particularly loved with an array of options and even teapots on hand. The grounds are beautiful with plenty of blooming flowers and green space to enjoy yourself and hang out. We particularly liked the very friendly koi in the koi pond which came over to say hi when we approached.

The room was lovely and we had a nice view of the water and the downtown area. We were here in mid October so it was a little chilly and rainy but it was perfect weather for walking around, sitting by the fire pit, and chatting in the lounge. If we're ever in the region again we would definitely stay here!!

And yet, of all the places I have been, few can match the charm and service of this wonderful couple and this establishment. "Charming coastal" is indeed accurate as another reviewer noted, but so is kind and engaging. At least, that is how I found the host Kim, who is the hostess during your stay. The rooms are modest in size but well appointed and comfy with a wonderful balcony to enjoy a morning coffee and watch the city wake up. The highlight of each morning was the breakfast together. The breakfast is served at 9 sharp and is served with the other guests. It makes for not only a delicious breakfast, but Kim uses it as an opportunity to help direct, guide, and suggest places nearby that meet your interests. This is great as it means you get insider tips and ways to optimize your stay by taking the guesswork out--particularly when you have a small window for activities (we were only there for a few days). In the evenings, Kim hosts a happy hour which includes helping guests secure reservations and dinner plans settled before you go. This is not just a recommendation by Kim--she actively calls and secures the spots and confirms them with you. True concierge service! Setting aside the wonderful host and the rooms, the location is superb. We were there over the weekend, and there is a delightful Saturday market literally ACROSS the street filled with vendors of all varieties. Warming: it is easy to spend. ;) The entirety of the downtown is merely a block away with shops, restaurants, and bars galore along with the cruises, sports fishing, and recreation just a short walk down the road. Bottom line: I adored this place and have already recommended it to friends and family here in Durham (where we live) and beyond. If you can swing it (it is worth every penny) and want to give yourself or your partner a weekend to remember, I cannot more strongly recommend the Inn on Turner.
