The beautiful entrance to the campground.

It's our last night here which we are very sad! My husband thought he booked our site until this Monday, but we realized we have to check out tomorrow. It has been an amazing and wonderful vacation for both of us and our pug, Lola. They have so many amenities such as: a beautiful beach, two swimming pools, hot tub, daily activities for the kids and adults, video game room, camp store, very clean bathrooms and showers, laundry room, full hook ups, dog park, tennis court, basketball court, playground, and the employees that work here are very friendly and helpful. We loved it here and we hope to come back some day. Thank you for making our stay the best! My only suggestion is I wish there was an entrance to the middle bathroom house without having to cut in between sites to get to it. Thank you for helping families create great memories with their families!

We came back! They've done a great job dealing with the social distancing and everything else. This is a well-run campground! The bathhouses are still clean, which is great, and the pool body count is a nice touch. Definitely recommend this Camp site!

Great place to park the RV. We stayed on the bay side waterfront 2 weeks before the season started and were essentially all alone. The sunsets were amazing with no dunes blocking the water view like they do on the oceanfront. Staff were very friendly and many places within walking distance to eat, snack or drink. Next time I come I will most likely bring my kayaks as you can drop straight in the water from the site we were in. There is a large room with cards, games, tv, ect that we only saw at check-in but would be a nice place to hangout if weather took a nosedive it just wanted a change of scenery. They do have a pool but we never used it so can't say much there.

We have been coming here once a year for the past 6 years....the key advantages of CH compared to others in the area is that every spot has a concrete pad, and the stunning views from the "sound side" spots. A common problem with beach campgrounds is that if you book a spot on the "oceanfront" you don't actually see the ocean from your camper because of the dunes. This time we rented a golf cart for the first time and had a great sound-side spot, so we watched the sunset on the water every night and had an easy drive to the beach during the day. The only reason not to give CH 5 stars is that the amenities are quite lacking, especially compared to the newly renovated KOA next door. An update to the pool, camp store, and creation of a snack bar are definitely needed to maintain our business.

    Play ground.

Staff is always pleasant. It's need a few upgrades laundry rooms don't always work third-party service. Access to the beach are filled with sand including the steps make it difficult if you have issues walking. The sites are fairly nice and long but are tight against your neighbors and are very difficult to back in if you have big rigs. Please check out satellite map before you pick your site. Access to some of bath houses need to be updated. Electricity and water seems to work perfect no issues there. Lots of wind so leave your canopies in and awnings also.

Pros: Very short walk to the beach - no roads to cross Friendly owners Weekly bingo night - kids were welcome Cheap laundry! Reasonable rates (for the outer banks at least) Friendly regulars Less windy that nearby places due to dunes/trees Ghost crabs and bioluminescent plankton in the sand (on dark nights) Lots to do within a 90min drive north or south Dogs, dogs everywhere Cons: Short spaces / 90 degree back-ins (especially for larger rigs) - you will likely have to ask neighbors to move vehicles (but they were willing to do so) Limited parking for tow vehicles/extra vehicles No fires allowed (even propane fire pits!) - but you can have a fire on the beach Our site had some standing water after a rainy night, but was otherwise mostly dry. Other sites had it worse. Can't pick your site -- they assign it upon arrival Limited amenities (small pool, small playground) but the setting is what you're here for, so ‍ Sand all over everything (but that's beach life) 20-40 min to a grocery store that is not Dollar General or an expensive convenience store Overall we enjoyed our time here. If we came back we might choose a different place due to our rig size, but after reading other reviews and having serious anxiety, it was not as bad as some made it out to be.

Our site #5 had nice shade from trees and was close to the bathhouse. We liked the outdoor showers but they could use a few new wood boards. The sites are a little close to one another but our camper is small so we didn't have issues. It could be trickier with large campers. The owner was friendly and was very understanding when we didn't have enough cash. Make a note: they only take cash or check! There's an ATM at the bank and variety store. Also, they start taking reservations in March and you have to call ahead! Not sure how fast they fill up. They also don't allow fires because of the city ordinances. Ocracoke was such a fun trip and this campground was a perfect place to stay with our camper!

Renting a golf cart we found to be the best way to explore the island in a day (which is at the intersection as your coming out of the campground). Also, found a great coffee shop in the neighborhood near the campground run by locals. All in all, this was a pretty clean campsite compared to others we have stayed at during our road trip this summer so far. We enjoyed it so much, we are going back this week to stay and look for apartments in Ocracoke.

If you want something more than that you'll be disappointed. I'm an equestrian and thought being on the beach would be fun. Not! You have to stay at the walk. The horse handed me was their lead horse ergo wanted to be in the lead. The owner kept telling me to not get ahead of her. I circled all the way to the back of the herd. Guess. My horse went into the trot on his own so I posted and got my hand popped. That horse was in tune with me and wanted to stretch his legs on that beach, but that was not allowed. I understand about liability, but I signed a waiver. Every time we got a length ahead she wanted me to stop. My horse knew Whoa! and 3rd position! That horse had never heard "eeeeeaaazzzzy" or just wasn't feeling it. It was just frustrating and boring. It was a waste of $150 plus a $20 tip plus gas to drive to the end of the world. Speaking of, there are NO gas stations. Gas up and pee before you head there. Glad we did.

Devon was an exceptional guide: knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about the island's history and ecology. Her easygoing confidence allowed us to relax and fully enjoy the scenery.
