The beautiful entrance to the campground.

It's our last night here which we are very sad! My husband thought he booked our site until this Monday, but we realized we have to check out tomorrow. It has been an amazing and wonderful vacation for both of us and our pug, Lola. They have so many amenities such as: a beautiful beach, two swimming pools, hot tub, daily activities for the kids and adults, video game room, camp store, very clean bathrooms and showers, laundry room, full hook ups, dog park, tennis court, basketball court, playground, and the employees that work here are very friendly and helpful. We loved it here and we hope to come back some day. Thank you for making our stay the best! My only suggestion is I wish there was an entrance to the middle bathroom house without having to cut in between sites to get to it. Thank you for helping families create great memories with their families!

We came back! They've done a great job dealing with the social distancing and everything else. This is a well-run campground! The bathhouses are still clean, which is great, and the pool body count is a nice touch. Definitely recommend this Camp site!

Great place to park the RV. We stayed on the bay side waterfront 2 weeks before the season started and were essentially all alone. The sunsets were amazing with no dunes blocking the water view like they do on the oceanfront. Staff were very friendly and many places within walking distance to eat, snack or drink. Next time I come I will most likely bring my kayaks as you can drop straight in the water from the site we were in. There is a large room with cards, games, tv, ect that we only saw at check-in but would be a nice place to hangout if weather took a nosedive it just wanted a change of scenery. They do have a pool but we never used it so can't say much there.

We have been coming here once a year for the past 6 years....the key advantages of CH compared to others in the area is that every spot has a concrete pad, and the stunning views from the "sound side" spots. A common problem with beach campgrounds is that if you book a spot on the "oceanfront" you don't actually see the ocean from your camper because of the dunes. This time we rented a golf cart for the first time and had a great sound-side spot, so we watched the sunset on the water every night and had an easy drive to the beach during the day. The only reason not to give CH 5 stars is that the amenities are quite lacking, especially compared to the newly renovated KOA next door. An update to the pool, camp store, and creation of a snack bar are definitely needed to maintain our business.

    Play ground.

Staff is always pleasant. It's need a few upgrades laundry rooms don't always work third-party service. Access to the beach are filled with sand including the steps make it difficult if you have issues walking. The sites are fairly nice and long but are tight against your neighbors and are very difficult to back in if you have big rigs. Please check out satellite map before you pick your site. Access to some of bath houses need to be updated. Electricity and water seems to work perfect no issues there. Lots of wind so leave your canopies in and awnings also.

We absolutely LOVED Camp Hatteras! The rv spaces are big and plenty of room to spread out. The enforce the quit time and security drives around a lot to make sure everyone is doing good and people are safe. My almost 16 yr old and his buddy had a blast swimming in the ocean (which was a 2 min walk from our camp), swimming in either the indoor pool and outdoor pool, playing basketball, mini golf, shuttle board and pool in the game room. People seem to forget there was a hurricane about 5 yrs ago and a lot of the trees were destroyed. One person complained about no trees to help with shade, most tent campers (that is all we did for 20 yrs before buying our first travel trailer) made sure they had tarp and poles to create shade. Yes, tress would be great but this place is fanfreakintastic!! We will be back

Sunsets are gorgeous on the soundside.

Absolutely the best trip in many years to this campground. If I was going to note everything no one…read morewould read this but there are several areas I want to touch on. First - the people. This staff was the best we have seen in years and I will account for it being the best since I have been an adult coming here. It was good seeing old faces like Aaron and Cowboy (and Cowboy's wife who is among the nicest people you could ever meet) again. Russ as GM (and his "get it done" attitude wife Betsy) and Ashley as AGM has done a great job getting this place back in order with bathhouses being very well attended and probably the cleanest I have ever seen them. There wasn't a day that we didn't see folks out making this place be in as nice and clean as possible. Now let's call this section 1.2 that I'm going to dedicate to the Summershiners (the folks who worked with the kids and specifically ran the activities). This is the most I have ever seen since coming here as an adult. David, Jason, Daniel, and Cori were just the next level of amazing. Their interaction was what makes family memories and this being the place we have our summer family vacation worth it. Forget friendly, they made you feel like family. I tend to make friends with other campers but these guys brought back what made the KOA special for me as a kid only this time it was my son who has the memories to go along with it. Whether it is making glass lamps, the fun/glow train, pie in the face, ice cream/cotton candy socials or really anything activity-wise, these are the type of people you want representing you as a company. I really hope to see them again in future visits but know they will be amazing assets to wherever they end up (and I would like to reiterate if anyone in management is reading this - bring them back!). Facilities - last year had me a bit concerned, I won't lie. This year the dog park was I swear double the size, the pool was clean and ready for use, and again, the bathhouses (what I believe has to be the worst part of working a campground) were clean and well maintained. Laundry rooms were reasonable in cost and machines were working! I shouldn't sound so excited about that but to anyone who goes to campgrounds, you know that is a rarity. Now to the campsite itself. The only thing we are missing in the site we get is the small pavilion to keep the sun off. The grounds were well kept, easy to level to, and everything I needed to hookup with was easily accessible. Hands down my easiest setup of the year. Beach access was accommodating with all clean off areas functioning perfectly fine. Pet wash was very easy to use at the middle bathhouse and thank goodness with how our mutt ran through the sand and water. Bottom line- I whole hearted recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away. Yes we camp/glamp but they have more than that for those wanting to get away. All look well maintained. It's great seeing this place returned to what it once was and not to knock my childhood memories, probably a bit better.

The amenities were way above par. Huge pool with hot tub. Tiki bar. On site restaurant (Shielas). I love this place for the simple things. Super dog friendly, everyone waves and says hi, and fun activities all day long. The furthest campsite from the beach is only about a 4 minute walk. I would suggest this campground to anyone visiting OBX. It's clean, friendly and the best KOA I've ever been to.

Pros: Very short walk to the beach - no roads to cross Friendly owners Weekly bingo night - kids were welcome Cheap laundry!
