The Conf center with sound views was spacious and clean, perfect for accommodating our meetings and activities scheduled during our stay. The bath house was clean and spacious and well maintained. All sites have full hook ups and were in great shape with level concrete pads and picnic tables. There are plenty of water sports activities to enjoy within walking distance to the campground as well as several restaurants and shops.

We paid over $200 for an "Ocean Side Premium Yellow" site, which was the last row before going over the dune to reach the ocean. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no view of the ocean from our site. The site itself was full hookup, but essentially just a concrete pad with a picnic table. With daytime temperatures over 90 degrees and absolutely no trees or shade anywhere in sight, it felt more like parking an RV in a hot parking lot than camping. The overnight temperature only dropped about 10 degrees, so without air conditioning, there was very little relief from the heat. For the price, we simply could not justify the cost of the site or feel that it provided a premium camping experience. The mini golf was also disappointing and definitely not what we expected. There were, however, some real positives. The bathhouse/shower house was excellent--extremely clean, well maintained, and climate controlled. They were genuinely a pleasure to use. The pool was also clean and had plenty of shaded seating, which was especially appreciated in the heat. Most importantly, the staff were wonderful. When a breaker on the campground's hookup blew around 10 p.m., leaving us without power, the staff came out to help. They made a temporary repair to get us through the night and properly fixed it the following day. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, and responsive. Unfortunately, the excellent staff and clean facilities couldn't overcome our biggest issue: the value. At $200+ per night, we expected a substantially nicer and more comfortable site. For us, the experience simply did not justify the price.

Took some effort to understand, but not an issue. *Dumbwaiter doesn't work, despite being an advertised benefit on their website. *No tea, only Keurig coffee. It was a bed and a place to stay at night. It seemed clean and tidy. All I needed it for, but the experience could've been polished up with some necessities and niceties. At least the view was good?

It was extremely frustrating trying to figure out how to turn off the fan before bedtime. Kitchen has zero amenities. I mean none. The kitchen sink in room 137 is on the verge of backing up as evidenced by poor drainage. The bathroom shower is awful. You turn it on for the tub to run and warm up, as you turn the temperature down to less hot, with no intervention by the user, the shower starts to run. This is annoying if you want to use the bathtub or just wash your hair using the tub spigot with no shower. When you pull up the shower tab, it stops the tub spigot. The bathroom has zero amenities - no tissues, i got these from another guest, twice. No room service but towels are dropped off. The soap was a sliver, no hand soap so you have to bring your own or like i did, use the shampoo to wash your hands. I haven't used soap in years, only body wash and i wish i had brought my own. The soap was very drying. Another issue with the bathroom is the smell of mothballs coming from the ceiling fan. They can deny it all they want but when the fan runs, you can smell it almost immediately. There is no cup for toothbrushing so I had to use the mug from the kitchen. The window treatments are paper thin and do not block the light from outside. The room furniture is left over patio furniture with skimpy seat cushions and horrible to sit on. I padded the seat and back with bed pillows and it was still awful, similar to the comfort level of a medieval torture device used during the Spanish Inquisition. The coffee maker did not work. A new one was provided. The front desk response to issues/complaints was to tell you to check out. I obviously cannot recommend this place but if you do stay here, it is clean and quiet but offers nothing else. You need to supply a lot of items yourself, items that a normal hotel/motel provides.

Newlyweds Krystal and Donnie have done an excellent job rehabbing this 111 year old home, raising the home and adding two bright and roomy bedrooms, each beautifully decorated, with its own modern bathroom, really comfortable beds, well supplied and with absolute beautiful panoramic views of the sound. There is a private entrance around the back of the home using stairs to the spacious deck leading to sliding glass doors to the private rooms. The deck has ample comfortable seating for relaxing and taking in the view. Guests are also welcome to head up the front steps to the porch with huge rocking chairs to lounge before heading inside to the foyer where coffee makers and snacks await at the foot of the stairs. A climb up takes you to the guest rooms. Yes, you must be able to navigate several stair cases to stay here. Our room had a mini fridge, television, and decent free WiFi. Krystal made us breakfast on our schedule as we were the only guests midweek. It was delicious! The four-legged furry family member is a huge dog, but very mellow, quiet and calm. It was a total delight to stay here. I'm certain anyone who can climb stairs will enjoy this beautiful home in the heart of Hatteras. Plenty of on property parking.

This could be a nice place if it was taken care of properly. Waited too long to make my reservations & this was the only place available for 3 weeks in the middle of the busy summer season. That should have told me somthing right there. After talking to several other campground owners at places we've stayed before, they agreed with me. Management needs to be replaced. If this place had a good management, it could be brought into the new millenium. We survived our stay, but would never ever go back there again.

Friendly staff are always on hand generally until 7 or 8 pm. They have gated access and cable tv. Full bathhouses are provided and are kept clean. The campground is less than 5 minutes from Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (by car) - it may be just a bit too far for most to walk. It's located on Buxton Back Road, so it's just off Hwy 12 but not ON Hwy 12. It's also within 5 minutes of the grocery. It's about 30 minutes from the Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry. They have 3 one bedroom cabins, 3 two bedroom cabins, and tent or RV camping. Lastly, the pond that surrounds the campground has hundreds of freshwater turtles that are people friendly and love being fed. I highly recommend this campground.

The bath house had both indoor and outdoor showers, which was perfect after long days at the beach, and two washers and dryers. My kids enjoyed having access to the sound at their fingertips, and the playhouse with swing set was a perfect addition to play on while I made dinner. Those 15 sites are just feet away from that water and have idyllic views. There is a boardwalk that runs out toward the ocean and along the "pond". There is catch and release fishing. This is a simple place in a great location. Just down the road is the marina where you can charter a fishing expedition or have a great seafood dinner. Look up their site for details. However, the pullout couch was not the most comfortable so if you have a bad back, you might want to just rent another room. The location is unbeatable. You're less than a minute walk from the beach and have a great view of the east side of the cape. The host, Robin, was friendly and made some top notch, homemade breakfasts, even better than some restaurants that I've been too. Would definitely recommend!!

The breakfast and sitting area upstairs were inviting & bright. Mimosas for a small fee. We did see a few roaches wandering around but I suspect that's part of living in a warm & wet environment. Bikes available to borrow but beware they're not all in working order. My boyfriend's bike wouldn't allow him to use the brakes without the chain falling off. We had to stop mid ride for him to fix the chain which left his hands greasy for the remainder of our ride to the lighthouse. My main disappointment was location. While it is walking distance to the beach, it's not ON the beach. The town of Buxton was fairly run down. Next time I'd opt to stay in Hatteras, which we actually mistakenly thought we were when we booked.

We really like it here. The pool is great and the deck is always clean. There really are no…read morefrills but the place is clean and fairly quiet. It is a good place to just hang out if it is included with your beach rental. They also have concerts here on Thursday nights. The concerts are well attended, and they have have alcoholic drinks available. Water is available for free. The bottom line is if you are in Avon and are able to go here for a swim or socializing in concert nights it is a great option.
