Materials that should have been ripped out after storms were just painted over. The owners were sweet and sincerely trying to help but I came home feeling unwell with my sinus giving me trouble. Sorry to post this but I feel it is a unhealthy environment.

For $250 a night, it's definitely worth it to come here. Our room was no frills, with two queen beds and a bathroom with nice bath tub. The nice part is having a small, enclosed porch that we could hang out on. Unfortunately, you have to walk up and down the stairs because there's no elevator. It's ok unless you have mobility issues. Then it's kind of a problem. Downstairs is a nice, large pool. I think there's supposed to be a hot tub but it wasn't hot or working. Too bad. But anyway, it was a break from the sand, haha. We visited ESC for a family reunion! 26 people in 14 bedrooms - and this place fit us well. Having…read moredone a number of these reunions in various locations around the country, some in modified homes, some in near hotel layouts, this one was clearly well designed for this purpose. The location, along the sound on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, was a wonderful place to get away, kayak the calmer waters, and watch what would be amazing sunsets - rained literally every day we were there, but what we saw was breathtaking! We were half way between Nags Head and Cape Hatteras, with a short walk to the more crowded (though still welcoming with space) Atlantic beaches. The layout of Edgecamp Sporting Club 7 (our home) was perfect for family reunions. Our group could sit near one another around the spacious kitchen / eating area, either at a table, along the counter, or out on a porch. There were plenty of spaces to sit and relax, play games, catch up with people we hadn't seen in a few years, and just enjoy the peace and quiet. Though... people renting the house next door didn't care for quiet, more a family party atmosphere with a LOT of loud, though fun music and joyous kids. The kids were great to listen to, though the music could have been played at a far more considerate level. Quite loud everywhere, though once the doors were closed, we couldn't hear them. :-\ There were a few maintenance items, and the property crew was both on top of things and very friendly and considerate. The building is relatively new, so some design issues are to be expected, and they were making good headway to take care of us, and of future guests! Norm (?) was great, and helped us feel at home as he tended to our observations. Overall, not a cheap place, but still worth it for what you get!

We were really disappointed with our stay at Camp Hatteras, especially considering the price we…read morepaid. We paid over $200 for an "Ocean Side Premium Yellow" site, which was the last row before going over the dune to reach the ocean. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no view of the ocean from our site. The site itself was full hookup, but essentially just a concrete pad with a picnic table. With daytime temperatures over 90 degrees and absolutely no trees or shade anywhere in sight, it felt more like parking an RV in a hot parking lot than camping. The overnight temperature only dropped about 10 degrees, so without air conditioning, there was very little relief from the heat. For the price, we simply could not justify the cost of the site or feel that it provided a premium camping experience. The mini golf was also disappointing and definitely not what we expected. There were, however, some real positives. The bathhouse/shower house was excellent--extremely clean, well maintained, and climate controlled. They were genuinely a pleasure to use. The pool was also clean and had plenty of shaded seating, which was especially appreciated in the heat. Most importantly, the staff were wonderful. When a breaker on the campground's hookup blew around 10 p.m., leaving us without power, the staff came out to help. They made a temporary repair to get us through the night and properly fixed it the following day. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, and responsive. Unfortunately, the excellent staff and clean facilities couldn't overcome our biggest issue: the value. At $200+ per night, we expected a substantially nicer and more comfortable site. For us, the experience simply did not justify the price.

I wish more places had covered picnic areas on site to rent. This would be one of those places. The wind was rough and we couldn't keep our canopy up. The lime on the shower faucet and water pressure in the bathroom could be improved. Vinegar once a week in a baggie on the shower head would be a great start! Otherwise, fabulous facilities as far as updated and cleanliness. The laundry area was clean and priced fairly. We found the facilities, while older pretty nice. Seasonal rates would be welcomed at off season times, but I suppose they aren't interested in extra income for unused sites. All in all though, this is a great place for a week.

This campground is in a great location! Close to shops and restaurants but still down the road to…read moremake it a quiet spot. Our site #5 had nice shade from trees and was close to the bathhouse. We liked the outdoor showers but they could use a few new wood boards. The sites are a little close to one another but our camper is small so we didn't have issues. It could be trickier with large campers. The owner was friendly and was very understanding when we didn't have enough cash. Make a note: they only take cash or check! There's an ATM at the bank and variety store. Also, they start taking reservations in March and you have to call ahead! Not sure how fast they fill up. They also don't allow fires because of the city ordinances. Ocracoke was such a fun trip and this campground was a perfect place to stay with our camper!

They also have a spot where you can pick up and drop off your keys to the cabins if you are coming amd going before or after their open hours. We stayed in one of the one bedroom cabins. It came with two beds with a mat on top but they do tell you to bring your own linens,which we did. The cabins only have ac not heat, which is one of the only few things I think they should upgrade to have a unit that does both as we stayed during Halloween weekend and the digits where in the 40's at night. Just enough to take the chill out of the air inside. But we brought plenty of blankets so we were pretty cozy but definitely didnt want to leave the warmth in the morning lol. I also think the grills need to be updated to something you can close not the tiny open faced ones they have. Even after scrubbing it down, our food tasted funny after cooking on it due to all the grime that had built up from being uncovered in all sorts of weather. Easy walk to the water and have a tavern and deli within walking distance close by as well with good food. Was a great place to sit outside and read a book and just relax, no blaring horns or city noise.

The bath house had both indoor and outdoor showers, which was perfect after long days at the beach, and two washers and dryers. My kids enjoyed having access to the sound at their fingertips, and the playhouse with swing set was a perfect addition to play on while I made dinner. The manager was helpful on the phone as well as in person and had great recommendations for fun things to do while on the island. I can't wait to return again!
