This campground is so very nice. We arrived on the 16th and after we unhooked we tried to go exploring. Unfortunately the transmission had gone in our car and we couldn't make it anywhere. Sarah and Marlow (hopefully I spelled it right) were so accommodating and helpful. They worked with us and extended our stay without a problem. I can't thank them enough. Just left the campground. It was wonderful! Big level spot with so much grass, absolutely beautiful view of the water. Every morning and evening we got to watch several Bambis and parents at the edge of the property. Last night watched a hawk diving for fish. Wright Brothers museum is a mile or so down the road. Wow! Front office even gave us a clue to one of the best local " hole in the wall" restaurants and it was fantastic! Make sure you ask them where to eat local great seafood!!! read more

Have friends who are using this campground now. Very secluded campground down a residential street. The campground is located at the end of Marshy Ridge Road on a protected inlet off Baum Bay which is off the Sound. A small pier and picnic tables make this a perfect spot. Super close to everything the Outer Banks has to offer too! read more

We arrived after the office closed without a reservation and so thankful they had sites open for late arrivers that you could choose and set up at and then stop at the office the following morning to check in for your stay! Very thankful they do this as it was our first time to Outer Banks and traveling with our camper, hoping others do this as well! The campground itself is very clean and centrally located to lots of actives and perfect for those that want to venture or just hang there. All sites are large, full hook up, along the canal with a view of the dock and water ahead! Pets are allowed, it wasn't overcrowded or campers stacked right next to each other, and all other guests were quiet and friendly. The sky at night is lit up with stars, so if you like to gaze this is the perfect place! You can see the sunset over the trees which is pretty as well! The front desk help was very friendly and welcoming with details about the campsite as well as the area for places to go and things to do! The price was great and very reasonable! We extended our stay and can't wait to come back and stay again! read more

I just got back home from my second October camping at the OBX Campground and I had a great time. The sites are large and well spaced out so you are not sitting right on top of your neighbors. The setting is very peaceful and it was wonderful to see the deer roaming through the grounds. The place is clean and well maintained. I have already booked a site for May and next October. If you are looking for a great camping experience on the Outer Banks, I highly recommend the OBX campground. You will not be disappointed. read more

we considered canceling Because we were not sure of the location. we're not sure how close to the historical sites we would be. but we like being away from the main road 158 or 12, the staff is very accommodating. Joanna very engaging, friendly. don't buy ice in town buy it there 20lb. you are virtually behind Wilbur & Orville Wright monument. entry on 158. there is NO fire ring, (you don't have time after a long day touring) SLEEP! we are here in June. no misquotes, temps from 80-90, today 77! hate to leave. spaces between RV are perfect. rode the MC everywhere. speed on main drag 45-50MPH Duck Donuts is an experience! You will be standing in line, order pad is on a table outside. "stack em high pancakes" 2.5 mi from RV, breakfast has big menu. FISH HEADS very active for lunch or fishing. standing in line here too. Jimmy's buffet all u can eat. Charlie's Buffett crowded, but good. there is a seafood convenience store enroute to 158, (we were referd there) for fresh seafood, and items they make for you to grill or ???, I can say we never been here before and we would return seems I can't post enough pics here. But visit the lighthouses. History here is very informative. read more

We just returned from OBX Campground. Hated to leave. Beautiful spot. Great bath house with very clean showers.Dawn greeted us when we checked in. So friendly and helpful. Recommended some awesome restaurants and things to do. Quiet. Dog friendly. We look forward to returning in the spring, or sooner. They stay open all year long. read more

I want to give this a one star review just to scare people away. This is by far the best campground I have ever been to. The sites are decently flat and we'll spaced out with 15A and 30A service all the way up to dual 60A service for the rolling luxury apartments. Even have cable hookups! The bath house is amazing for a campground. The shower stalls are bright and clean with space to get dressed outside of the shower. Sites 10 -15 (I think) back right up to the canal and you get a great water view right from your camper. This will be our new favorite place to go for a very affordable trip to the beach. My only quip might be the lack of entertainment. However I can make it work for the cheap price we get now. They do have signs up that say no tents, but I did see a few there. read more

Pros: large spots and easy access to shops, restaurants and beaches. Cons: never saw anyone outside at night because the mosquitos were awful. We literally were attacked coming from our truck to the camper door nightly. I get it's by a marsh, but seriously. Also had ants (large and small) everywhere outside that made their way into our camper. We've stayed in rustic places before and still were able to sit outside at night. Overall, would not stay again but an easy place to crash since we spent most of our days at the beach. read more

Nice quit camping with full 30/50amp hookups, the sites are spacious and the folks are friendly. The only thing I would say is lacking is a camp store. It's has no little to no amenities. I will say in beats all the rest of the packed crazy campgrounds in the area. read more

The management is horrible. Avoid this place at all costs. In the midst of flood warnings , gale force winds warnings and, while watching parts of our RV being ripped off, we fled for our safety and left I day early. The MGT refused to refund the day in spite of not losing a penny of potential revenue as many sites were empty. Most uncaring place I've ever stayed. read more

The only place we stay in OBX. It's a little off the beaten path (sound side near Wright Brothers Memorial). Also - no tents. There's a little dock at the back of the campground that we have sat on a few times to picnic. Hot showers, always clean bathrooms. Laundry facility. Very friendly atmosphere, safe for kids and families. Very pet friendly establishment. We love Ms Karen! She's got everything you would expect out of Southern Hospitality. We have stayed here twice already this year, and already booked out 3rd stay. You will not be disappointed! Campers/RVs of all sizes have frequented this campground. Electrical and water hookup at each site, and if you want more of a feel of really being at home - they also have cable TV hookup at each site. We have been through 2 storms at this site and all was fine. Flooding was not much of an issue here. Great location! read more

Love this place! Staff is very friendly and accommodating. We have visited several times. Our last visit we arrived minutes before a torrential downpour. I called the office just before our arrival and asked if we could set up before checking in. They were very accommodating. We got dropped and hooked up just as the sky opened up. We notified the office that we had made it, and were told to just come officially check in, in the morning. Slightly off the beaten path, but well worth it. The sites are spacious. (we drove past several campgrounds where the RV's were in so tight we wondered how they got in or out) There is plenty of turning space and a lot of wide open space. There is no pool, but there is a nice dock. Just down the street you will find a wonderful seafood shop. Billy's seafood has everything you need to make yourself a fresh seafood dinner to enjoy at your campsite. You will see plenty of wildlife. Be sure to watch for deer when driving. I highly recommend the OBX Campground. read more

We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend, and it was unexpectedly (blissfully) quiet. No blaring radios or constant revving of engines could be heard. Pet friendly. Clean. Level sites with grass "yards". Well maintained.Fairly bug-free considering the street address is on Marshy Ridge Road! Internet connect was reliable and always available from our site. No campfires allowed unless you bring your own pit. (Also no profanity allowed, which is an interesting rule for a campground!) A dock / boat slip for enjoying the canal is icing on the cake. Some sites have a great view of the water. Ours did not -- but we will ask for that next time -- because yes, there will be a next time. This location is wonderful because it is close enough to lots of fun but far enough away to really remember why you went on vacation in the first place. Do: check out the weekly rate (even if you're staying for 5 or 6 days) because you might save some money. Bring your bicycle if you have one, because there are bike paths all over here. Bring kayak / canoes. Don't come if you are expecting your kids to be entertained here at the campground or if you want a party site. read more

This was such a wonderful find for my boyfriend, our dog, and I. We had been searching for just the right place to park our camper for the night and stumbled upon this diamond of a campground. Its located on this nice calm river and they have a dock that you can sit out on and relax :) It's far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the OBX traffic that you can really relax and enjoy some quiet peace, but close enough to all the hustle and bustle that you didn't have to drive 20 minutes to go have dinner or go shopping. NOT TO MENTION, the amenities they include. Full hook up for your camper including electric, sewage and water, a phone line, AND CABLE TV. They also have an awesome bath house (gender specific) and it was super clean! My boyfriend and I cannot WAIT to go back to the OBX campground. Price per night is $50 which is totally reasonable for all the things that you get with your stay!! I will say that is strictly for campers and RV's only but if that's what you're looking for in the OBX you DEFINITELY have to check it out! read more
