Great selection of boards and knowledgeable staff. I got a very fair deal on a SUP rental. Awesome shop!

Farmdog Beach Services - Relaxing at Nags Head with Farm Dog chairs and umbrellas!

Farmdog Beach Services

We have used FarmDog Beach Services for year. They are super easy to book with and have a variety…read moreof set ups to choose from. They make going to the beach so much easier! No more lugging chairs, tents, canopies, coolers or wondering what do to with the trash. We show up exactly to the spot we want and enjoy the whole day. Their crew is so friendly and helpful. This last time, during the off season, we even got some great recommendations on dinner spots for places we hadn't tried yet. We have found friends in the crew at FarmDog. Thank you for giving our family yet another amazing beach day!

Our family has been vacationing in Nags Head for as long as I can remember. In years past, we…read morebrought our own tent, umbrellas, and chairs--spending time lugging everything to the beach and setting it up ourselves. But now that we're older, we decided it was time to make life easier. Enter Farmdog Beach Services. I found them through online reviews and reached out with a few questions. The customer service was impressive--quick, friendly, and helpful. One concern I had was the rainy weather forecast. They assured me I wouldn't be charged for days when setup wasn't possible. That peace of mind sealed the deal. We arrived on Saturday, and by Sunday morning our tent and chairs were already perfectly set up. This continued like clockwork every day of our trip. Even though we had one bad weather day, the overall service was so good I wouldn't even mind if we get charged for it. A special shoutout to Steve, the gentleman who set up our tent each day. He was the kindest, most polite and personable person we've met in Nags Head in years. My mom adored him. Steve--thanks for the secret fishing hole tip We'll definitely be booking with Farmdog again next year. They made our beach week truly stress-free and memorable. L Green

The Pit Surf Shop - Surf lessons everyday !

I love this place! The new location, just in front of the old location, is so sweet! Missy, the…read moreowner, is wonderful and always so helpful in a non-annoying selling you things way. There is always a huge selection of new and used boards and extra goodies for the beach!

The Pit has now become a long-time fixture in Kill Devil Hills. I remember when it opened. In the…read morebeginning it was just a club that would let kids under 21 so they had somewhere to go listen to bands, play games, and hang out. Then they expanded to the surf shop and built a separate building. Now they have Boardriders Grill. In the main building you'll find the "hang out" part. Downstairs on the ground floor is a stage and venue for bands and parties. On the main floor, there's a dining area and small bar. On the top floor there's some video games, pool, and chairs to chill in. Sunday is Euronight with electro/house music spinning and Thursday is Mug Night. At The Pit out back the surf shop keeps expanding so I can't even keep track of all that's offered. I will tell you that they keep up to date with all the rad stuff locals and surfers need to keep up with the island image and life. They offer board rentals, surf lessons, lots of cool stuff. One thing that's really cool is that they're home to "Skim City" which is a sick skimboarding brand. My brother used to be sponsored by them and my family was never short on encounteres with the Skim Crew! A boardsport lifestyle comes as naturally as going barefoot on the beach and The Pit acknowledges that. The Boardriders Grill has come a long way to have a following of its own. $1 tacos from 4 to 6pm and all day on Tuesdays always draw a crowd! I don't know how else to describe it but how they do -- a surf-inspired menu. My Mom loves their fish tacos and my friends and I can barely handle their burritos! Spice and gargantuan size with fresh fixin's. I love that you can eat inside or out on the front deck and the service is friendly and fast. You never know you'll run into at The Pit. Steve Pauls and Ben Sproul have done a pretty good job at keeping it up for locals and visitors alike though. Stop in and hang out...you'll have a good time.
