Jennette's Pier is a must stop if you're in the Nag's Head area! For $2 plus tax, you can walk out on the pier as much as you like! The pier itself was rebuilt after a hurricane wiped it out over a decade ago. There's a small aquarium with fish you'd find swimming underneath the pier itself, too, which is air conditioned, and a snack shop and huge gift shop. If fishing is your jam, they'll hook you up with everything you need for a day of casting and catching. Say hey to the friendly pelicans, maybe toss them a spare fish if you've got it. read more

Very cool (and this part is free) mini aquariums with cool fish and interactive displays that tell the story of the pier and its many incarnations every time that the ocean takes it away. Once you pay your two bucks and walk through the pier, it's a never-ending show of nature as you see fishermen pull all kinds of fish and reel them in, and you're also given gorgeous views of the beach, the occasional dolphins and tons of sea birds! TLDR: Public beach access, pier, free parking lot, and public showers and bathrooms. Beautiful place to watch the sunrise! We stopped here to watch the sunrise on a Sunday morning. The parking lot was nearly empty. We picked a spot and walked to the beach. We enjoyed walking the beach and watching the sun rise. In the early morning hours, minimal people were on the beach. Later in the day we returned to the pier to use the showers and restrooms. It was more crowded, but we still found parking spaces. The door to the women's restroom closes quickly and loudly if you let go too early, just fyi. I did not walk down the pier itself, but they have an aquarium and offer fishing equipment rentals. Overall we enjoyed our visit and recommend this pier to others! read more

Will start off by saying it did not go fishing on the pier, just walked around and took in the sites from it. Looked like everyone that was fishing was having a great time and catching all kinds of stuff. They had all the things you would expect on a fishing pier for fisherman. caught the sunset from it - and that was really neat to see. There were manta rays in the water! And there's a cute little gift shop next to it if you wanna grab a souvenir. The pier was a couple bucks to go on. read more

What a really nice spot this is..you pay $2 per person to go walk on pier but you can park and go to beach because there's bath houses right there! And when you go inside there's a couple of aquariums with cool stuff to see! Gift shops really cute and staff were very nice and helpful. They sell food as well! This was my favorite place we watched the sunrise on the eastern side of the Outer Banks. There's a parking lot for the pier which is nice. The pier makes a great addition to sunrise shots. We hung out near the pier while the sun rose and then walked along the beach for a while nearby. We also went out onto the pier itself afterward. This was a mistake. You have to pay (although not much) and there's nothing special to see up there. I definitely recommend checking out the beach area around the pier. read more

Bottom Line: Fisherman and sightseers alike will appreciate the beauty and functionality of Nags Head's famed 1,000 foot Jennette's Pier. I love this pier and I never get tired of visiting. As a kid I remember visiting the old ramschackly circa 1970s pier for a grape or orange Fanta soda. Today I enjoy visiting the sturdy and distinct pier for sightseeing and shopping. While fishing is the obvious draw to this pier there is also plenty for the non-angler. From the front of the pier you can see up and down the beach and enjoy views of the sound. To see even more you can pay $2 to walk out on the pier. The pier is run by the North Carolina Aquariums association so inside the main building there are two huge aquarium tanks and a lovely gift shop. I never get tired of looking at the tanks and particularly checking out the eels. And I always find something to buy at the gift shop. The gift shop sells many souvenir items unique to Jennette's Pier, fishing tackle, drinks and snacks and gift shop items similar to what you might find at the NC Aquariums gift shops (books, stuffed animals, trinkets, etc.). In my most recent trip I left with a tshirt, mug, ornament and sea shell guide. The main pier building also has a nice restroom but for those enjoying the beach there is also a separate bath house. I appreciate that Jennette's is taking COVID seriously. Capacity on the pier is limited to 51 people and capacity in the store is limited to 7 people. For the store they spray your hands with hand sanitizer and ask that you limit your visit to 15 minutes. read more

We had such a great time at the pier. My husband ran a 5K by the pier and my son and I got to explore. I love that they have plenty of free parking and it is close to the shore. We started off by having a picnic on the beach. We then checked out the aquarium and were able to sign up for a fishing lesson. The employees were so nice and helpful. The fishing lesson was great and my son actually caught a fish. If your child catches their first fish you can have a certificate mailed to them. They also have a small gift shop and food for purchase. read more

A great way to enjoy sun, sand, surf, and fishing! Inside the building you will find a small aquarium (i.e. a handful of displays), restrooms, gift shop, and fishing center. There's a small fee to access the pier, but admission is free if you have an NC Aquarium membership (may also participate in AZA reciprocal program, just ask). The pier has various signs you can read and educate yourself on pier fishing rules, conservation efforts, history of surfing, and other items of interest. We visited in the off season, so it was very quiet, but observed a group of ambitious surfers, witnessed a stingray being caught and released, and enjoyed walking under pier and along beach. Our beach combing efforts may have been a bust, but we enjoyed amazing views. Parking seemed ample, but may be a challenge during the busier parts of the year. There's bath house at edge of beach/parking lot, but it appeared to be closed for the season. read more

It's a nice spot to walk over the water and see plenty of fishers. Due to COVID there are restrictions of number of guest allowed. I think it was topped to 50 people on the pier. There is a small fee to walk onto the pier which was $2 for adults and $1 for kids 12 and under. The pier is a short walk to the end and there are historic markers telling about the pier in the middle of the pier. The pier is lined with fishers tending their rods and the furthest end was pretty full of anglers too. There is a gift shop and aquarium in the main building which also has several historic markers and information attached. A fun time and a low cost option. read more

How do you rate a pier? I have been to a few piers in my life but I'm no pier connoisseur. Highlights - It's large [insert Michael Scott "That's what she said!"] - Cost $2 an adult to walk it. Cash & plastic accepted - If you fish, they charge you more - They have a couple of cool aquariums in the visitors center - Restrooms are clean and I would take a dump here - Informational signs all along the pier describing the sea creatures below - Cleaning stations for the fishermen - Free parking Overall I thought it was worth the $2 price of admission. read more

Jennette's Pier is one of my favorite spots to sit, read, and watch the ocean when I'm in Nags Head. The beach surrounding the pier and the parking are completely free public access. There are free public restrooms as well. It's $2.00 to access and walk out on the pier but that gives you complete access for the whole day. The pier has benches all the way up you can sit and watch the ocean, the people, the fisherman, and it's such a relaxing place. There's a really nice gift and tackle shop where they serve different easy/cheap lunch options and snacks and the people working are always SO friendly and knowledgeable. There is also a lot of history to learn inside and several good size beautiful fish tanks. If you haven't sat and watched the ocean or found a bench and a good book and read from Jennette's you're missing out for sure. read more

We had so much fun at Jeanette's Pier and I am so happy that we went. When we arrived the first that that we noticed was the parking, although it was full there were so many people coming and going that we were able to find several spots almost immediately which was great. We had gotten some tickets for Jeanette's Pier so got a chance to enjoy that but before we did we went inside the gift shop that had so much stuff that we couldn't just choose one thing! We got ice cream + some other snacks. All of the staff were really nice. As we walked the pier we saw people fish, talking on the phone, looking at the water and just jangling our it was really nice. The pier is really long so it's a great walk. The pier provides you with finishing poles and bait for charge if you want to fish! We didn't though. When we got to the beach area we found a place very close to the pier. To our surprise there was nice breeze so it wasn't very hot which was great. We were able to collect some beautiful shells and enjoy some eats too! The bathroom was okay, I heard that they were the cleanest from any other beach area so that was a plus, I was impressed with it because it was a public beach bathroom. I still used precautions though. The beach was clean but the trash cans were filled with so much stuff that were things falling over out of the trash so that could have been better. Overall this beach was cool and I would definitely go back. read more

Our first visit here since the new pier was opened in 2009 - usually we surf fish, but that is becoming more difficult with the Federal Government practically shutting down access to the beaches on Hatteras Island - the National Park Service is another group of bureaucratic clowns. This pier (the original one was opened in the late 1930's as the first such structure on the OBX) was the first place I ever fished on the Ouiter Banks. This new one is just great - long, clean, and very well desiged for fishing. An All Day pass for fishing is $12, costs $2 to walk on to see the view - which is very nice. We walked the pier earlier in the day and found it interesting enough; particularly after reading about the problems this pier has experienced since its inception. But at night. It was a different world. Those fishing were sharing tales and assisting one another with catches; cheering one another on. Spectators stood around in awe as fish, stingrays, sharks, and sadly, a turtle were brought up from the black water deep below the well lit pier. If you have time, come at night and enjoy the experience. read more

Much like any pier with the exception of the entrance. The NC Aquarium has a couple displays of fish swimming around. Nice sized gift shop also attached to the pier. A small entrance fee to just walk the pier. Nice views on either side. I watched some Dolphins swimming around. Nice to check out at least once. read more

Nice pier but not the best fishing. I fished 5 hours and I think I got a nibble. Everyone was frustrated not catching anything but skate. Nice and spacious and seems to be good for families and kids. Nice pier but not worth $15 to fish and NO Military discounts. read more

Lots of good info about local species in the area. Though this visit was just my husband and I, this would be a great place to take kids, too. read more
