We went to see Cory B tonight for my birthday, and wow--what a great call! I'd only seen his wholesome Facebook skits before, so I wasn't sure what to expect from a live comedy show. Let me tell you, he was absolutely hilarious from start to finish. My wife and I were dying laughing the whole time. He's a genuinely talented comedian and deserves sold-out crowds. If Cory B comes through Austin again, do yourself a favor and go see him--you won't be disappointed. Now, onto the venue and menu: Started with an espresso martini--solid but nothing fancy. Strong pour (bartender was generous!), but the balance could be better. I'd give it a 6.8/10. Tried the Love Potion next--much better, really enjoyable. Solid 7/10. Appetizer: bacon mac and cheese balls--not our favorite. They weren't very hot, had a strange texture, and just felt off overall. Around a 5.5/10 for us. My wife got chicken tenders and fries as a snack--classic frozen bar food, but perfectly fine for munching during the show. A steady 6/10. Service was excellent--our server was super attentive, quick, and on top of everything. We never waited long for drinks or food. The venue itself is great for comedy, the show was fantastic, the drinks were good, and the food was... mid. But honestly, you're not there for the food. My advice: eat a solid meal beforehand if you're picky about eats, then come ready to laugh. Overall, an awesome night and a memorable birthday. We're already looking for our next show at this spot! This was my first time at this venue. Since it's at the Domain, parking is like The Hunger Games. We got really lucky and found a spot in the garage just a short walk down the street from Cap City. I mention this because I often seem to get lost in parking garages. In fact, this is only the second time I've been in this garage because the first time, (maybe 15 years ago) I lost my car. Anyway, we get to the venue and head inside. We arrived early for the 4pm Sunday show. It was expected to be packed because it was an added show after this performer sold out several others. When you're the only one in the venue, it's lovely and spacious. We had an excellent view of the stage, middle of the room, just off center from the stage. As we take our seats, I immediately think, I'm going to be sitting elbow to elbow with some random folks. Sure enough, my new besties were so close, I could smell their drinks. I understand wanting to pack people in, but come on, we don't need lap dances. The other issue I had is the minimum two item purchase per person. I guess this isn't a huge deal as anyone is likely to get some sort of drink or snack, but to force me to, makes me not want to AT ALL. To be honest, if I'm not being told what to do, I'm more likely to get more. I just don't understand the demand. Is it not enough that someone paid for the seat? Other than being packed like sardines and forced to buy their snacks, the show was great and we had some good laughs. I bought ticket off a instagram link for the comedian I follow so I didn't know there's a two item minimum in the showroom until I showed up to the show. I have an issue with this because what exactly does the price of the ticket cover if we're still required to order two items on the menu? Unfortunately the date of the comedian I bought tickets got moved so I received a complimentary for the original date. If I had known there was a two item minimum for the show, I would've just declined the complimentary ticket cause I wasn't even interested in the last minute replacement show. The two item minimum on the menu should be disclosed on the ticket link so people know that they need to pay extra for a show they already paid for. Last stop...date night... Damon Wayans Jr.! This comedian is known for his roles as Coach on New Girl and Brad Williams on Happy Endings. He delivered his sharp wit and charismatic stage presence to Capitol City Comedy Club on Saturday night (booked from Friday, January 16 through Sunday, January 18, 2026). Austin, TX was a part of his nationwide stand-up tour, which has been selling out venues across the United States. This was the first time Damon had visited Austin. According to the doorman, they had to add extra shows due to the high demand for the comedian. We had perfect balcony seats with full view of the comedian. I actually did not recall their being stadium like balcony seats, but was pleasantly surprised that they had the balcony. Wayans Jr.'s comedic set was a mix of observational humor (interacting with folks in the audience...one woman mistook him for his father. He playfully interjected humor regarding his mistaken identity.) Damon shared personal stories about his relationship and parenthood, some of the funnier parts of his comedy skit. His deft comedic timing is impeccable. His impersonations of Trump and Michael Jackson were spot on. He conveyed stories from his Hollywood experiences contrasted with relatable everyday humor. His comedic style toggled between thought provoking topics like civil rights, racism and political views to everyday, wholesome humor. Please note there is a two item minimum as part of the comedy club agreement. We bought chips and salsa, which was about the only thing Daniel fast compliant and had bottled water. Our server took our order pretty quickly and delivered just as quickly. Highly recommend his show!!! At times, I literally laughed so much that I had tears in my eyes. Sometimes throughout the evening I was cheering so loud, my hubs gave me the side eye. He's known me for 25+ years, so fortunately he knows me well. I met my brothers and sisters-in-law for some laughs on a Thursday night. (1/22). We arrived around 6 PM and were seated immediately for the 7 o'clock show. The host at the check in for tables was in a mood but I'll chalk it up to a bad day. He was "grumpy" when we arrived and gave him our tickets. I mean just not very friendly for that position. My SIL and I left to go to the bathroom (thinking they might stamp us to get back in)...I asked the guy what we needed to get back in...he responded in the tone of a teenage snotty girl...uhhh your ticket (insert eye roll here- I don't know if he rolled his eyes but that was the tone) We both laughed it off as we went to get our tickets but it was quite rude imho. The tables are quite close together, so just a heads-up if that matters to you. We had a table for five on the floor, just behind the wall. At first, I was a little bummed we weren't closer, but it ended up being a great spot. At the old Cap City, there used to be a two-drink minimum, but now it's a "two-item" minimum--so no worries if you're not drinking. The show started right at 7. Both the opening act and headliner (Rhys Darby) were fantastic. My brother and SIL treated me, so I'm not sure about the exact prices, but I had a glass of wine and some boneless wings. The wings were decent, and the fries were okay. Parking was easy--there's nothing directly behind the venue, but nearby garages are close. I think live comedy is always a win. My friend and I both got a drink and a food item. I had the Sour Gummy cocktail, which I thought was really good. And I got the cauliflower buffalo bites. They came to me cold. Cap City Comedy Club is conveniently located at the Domain so there's free parking. Closest garage would be the pink garage and it's about 4 min walk to here. Going in, they check your bags and IDs in order to hand out the physical tickets. My husband got tickets later and got them with the flash sale for $13. We came for the Leslie Liao show and got a great view! General seating is first come first serve and if you want to be seated as a group, you have to enter together. My friend was in a wheelchair so we had the opportunity to get a reserved table thanks to the staff! Host was really funny, and I wanted him to continue with his comedy, but the second opener came out and she really wasn't funny. One of my friends dozed off. But then Leslie Liao came back out and it was great again! As someone who's married, her jokes about couples being together and just scrolling through their phones and sending reels were so funny!! I knew coming into that they had a two-item requirement (you have to buy food or drinks from the menu). But, I didn't realize how expensive and mediocre the menu items were. Water is $5!! That's wild. I just got two juices to meet the minimum requirement. I didn't try the food, but I heard that they aren't that good so you may wanna eat beforehand if you are hungry. The server comes around every so often to make sure you order so it is enforced. Ordering at the bar before the show doesn't count towards the min requirement by the way. This was my first time at Cap City Comedy Club and it was a great visit. We went to see the comedian Sammy Obeid and it was one of the best standup acts I've ever seen. He was hilarious. We had reserved seating and got there early enough to be seated at the front of the stage. The club is very clean and looks like a typical comedy club. The staff are extremely friendly. I ordered fries and a cocktail and they were both good. Nothing to run screaming about but not bad either. I am not a fan of The Domain where the club is located. I just really hate the drive out and the hectic traffic. With that said, parking is free and so that's a bonus. Overall, it was a good experience. read more

I think this is a great venue for comedy performances. The larger room seems to have seating that gives each person a decent view of the stage. The menu is decent and the servers are attentive. It's located in the Domain, so there's free parking in any of the garages. My only complaint is about paying the bill. It is done during the performance with the server. The pad that is used shows automatic tip options starting at 18%. If you want to tip less, you have to truly stop watching the show and focus on the pad to make a change to the ticket. I didn't appreciate that. I'm certain 95% of people who aren't amazed by service will automatically just choose the 18% because it's easiest so they can get back to the show. read more

My partner surprised me with tickets to see Sheryl Underwood. This would be my second time visiting the Comedy club. All my visits have been great. Great service, good food and a clean place. July 30, 2025 review ---- Attended Indian comedian Gaurav Kapoor show. Tickets were purchased in advance. For parking, you either have to go to a parking garage or parking close to true food kitchen. I'd check at entrance as usual but they don't allow to take water bottles inside. Snacks and drinks options were available during the show for purchase. No dedicated seating, it was more like first come, first get. Luckily we got a good table. As the show started AC got turned on and it felt like the cold air was coming directly facing us. We asked the management team to either change the temperature of that particular AC and nobody took any action even after multiple requests. Eventually we moved ourselves to an open area and view wasn't great but at least we were not shivering. Second point is about forced spending. It was listed on the ticket that we got during entry that you've to spend at least 10 dollar per person. This was not told to us during booking. We really enjoyed our time at cap city in our recent visit! Weird they say you need to be there 30 minutes prior to show time or the tickets expire, but not the biggest turn off. We came in at around 720 for our 8pm show and we were one of the first to show up so not sure if they stick to that or not, but I do understand wanting everyone in their seats before the show kicks off. All of the pre show comedians as well as the main comedian (Kev Herrera)were funny, we were laughing through out the experience witch is definitely what you got to a comedy show for , but not all of them deliver. The menu had a few vegetarian items - another win! We had some fried pickle chips 4.5 (a little greasy) and the Buffalo cauliflower 4/5 for me the sauce was just a basic Buffalo sauce nothing special or unique about it - but the texture of the cauliflower and breading were great. Our server was on point as well and was sure to check in with us and get our order out in a timely fashion! I love having this as an option in North Austin. They bring in big names which is awesome! I just wish they'd remove 1 table on the floor and 1 table on the bench to give everyone some space. We're average in size an were struggling to fit. They pack you in so tight it is hard to move! And once you're in good luck getting to the restroom. The staff are friendly and nice. The food and drinks are basic dive bar options that I would guess were chosen to be quick and easy to make and serve. Bummer since there is a 2 item min per person. One step up from seeing a show at a bar is the best way I can describe this experience. The venue was clean and easy access to bathrooms on both levels. The security and ticketing staff here didn't have great communication with each other and it was a mess getting in and they really didn't check anyone's ticket in our line for the balcony, just waved people in. There was also a long time waiting outside the venue in the heat, even at the 9:30 show. Once in the building it was a wild free for all for seating with dozens of other people. We didn't have VIP, but it didn't look like the close seats are part of whatever that package is because people just plopped down in front. The wait staff was wonderful though! We got our order in 10 minutes before the show and had plenty of time to look over the menu before we decided. They were quick and deadly quiet. We got a few local beers and the fried pickles, which had a light spice in the breading that tasted great, but they were a bit soggy and the breading kept falling off which was disappointing. Parking here is always easy because of the big lot near the museum of ice cream or even the big pink garage if you're up for a short walk and all free parking. Found out about this place from a sponsored Instagram advertisement and I think they do a good job of getting interesting and different comedians. Next time I'm not sure I would purchase online because the tickets seem cheap until you get to checkout and they have large fees. Overall if you're really excited about seeing someone in particular it's worth the trip. If you live in/near the Domain it would make an easy date night spot. read more

We got there about 45 mins before the show started and we got great seats! The server was attentive and asked us if we needed anything multiple times throughout the show. We loved the cheese medallions (basically cheese sticks with great marinara sauce)! They were incredible and would come to a show just to have those again. I love being able to see comedy in so many places here, Velveeta room, Eshers Follies, Fallout Thearte, ComedySporz at Pinballz, and so many more. All with their good and bad points. Cap City being one of the closest to us helps and they get both big names and local talent which is a plus. The door greater/security guy is always nice and the front desk people are cool. Your server is always hit or miss, some are very nice and fast, some fast but rude or indifferent, some nice but slow. It is a crap shoot. We had a very bad experience last time we were here so we have been hesitant on returning. But a comic we have both long enjoyed was making an appearance, Maria Bamford, and we couldn't pass that up. We have a good time. The drinks were ok, I tried one I had not before and was not impressed but followed up with a solid standby. The churros were awful, do not get them. went to see Kev on Stage here. The venue was nice and intimate feeling. WE had a pretty close seat to the stage. The venue did require a two item purchase minimum in order to stay. So I ordered a long island iced tea and some boneless buffalo wings. The boneless wings were actually really good. I like the spice level and the ranch was delicious. Long island iced tea was strong and good so at least the food was decent since they forced me to buy it. The show was really good and I enjoyed it. Great time for my first time! The service was superb. The check-in/entry process was seamless and the venue itself is nice! They have plenty of staff and security to ensure that the shows run smoothly. They have plenty of seating options that allow for you to enjoy both food and drinks (there's a minimum they don't mention though). We have mozzarella sticks and they were a 4/5. I also enjoyed a nice hard Austin cider and of course it was a 5/5! We enjoyed Zack Fox front row tonight and would rate this one of the best comedy shows I've been to! read more

Cap City gets some fun acts, and we love live comedy so we always try and check it out. But let's be very honest, it is extremely over priced for what you're getting. Everything from the tickets to the food is priced way too high. Their "reserved seating" is a cluster of tables where if you turn your head, you'll be leaning on someone else's shoulder. Glad I paid extra for that! Cap City loves to cram as many people as possible in that section. You're better off getting GA, you'll actually get some space. Then the 2 items per person minimum. I get it! But again, over priced everything. Let's put it this way, it should be against the law to serve Lonestar, the cheapest of cheap beers, for $7.50, but don't worry, if you can't drink, you can always get a soda for the low price of $4.50. The food is essentially frozen food and stuff they grab at the grocery store. Remember I talked about over priced? Their chips and salsa is $7, and please look at the picture... it's Tostitos chips and salsa. The absolute bare minimum. This location is a lot newer than their previous location by 183 and N. Lamar. While the previous location had its charm, this location is bigger and better. It has multiple floors and rooms. The main room also has a balcony. The best part is that there isn't a bad seat in the house. The service here is also quick. Your drinks and food come out quickly and requests are granted promptly. Be forewarned that there is a two item minimum - it can be food or drink or whatever you'd like but every patron must order two things at least. The food is okay. It's mainly fried foods which aren't bad but if you're looking for something lighter and filling, I'd recommend the Mediterranean platter. read more

We had a great evening out at Cap City Comedy Club! We purchased tickets for Corey B's 7:30 show on a Saturday night. We purchased balcony seats, which are the same price as floor seats, because we liked the view better. Unless you purchase reserved seating, all other seating is GA. If you want to get a good seat, I'd recommend arriving early. There was a line when we got there for the main floor, but not the balcony. We arrived 45 min before the show and got 2nd row balcony seats. When you walk in, they check your purse and guide you to the box office line. Keep in mind, there is a 2 item minimum purchase per person. This can be either drinks or food. We each ordered a cocktail and an entree. The chicken sandwich was served with chips and we enjoyed it. The fried pickles and southwest egg rolls were also tasty. I enjoyed my Austin old fashioned, but the whiskey ginger was not good. The Texas peach was ok. All three comedians were hilarious and we didn't have to wait long for drinks or food. They've got service timing down! We will be back. read more

Now if you do NOT buy reserved seats you will be crammed shoulder to shoulder in very uncomfortable bench seating. The good thing is usually to get reserved tickets it's usually only $10-$20 more. The drink minimum is so old school. I wish they'd just let it go. Some people do not want the overpriced medicore food to eat in the dark or $4 10oz soda with no refill. I get it you've got to bring in cash but it's still annoying. Now let's talk about the venue. It's small and intimate. Perfect for seeing some awesome stand up! We've been to a few shows at Cap City Comedy Club and have decided this is our favorite place to see comedians in Austin. They get great people in, the location (at the domain) is convenient. Well, I should say the parking situation is my favorite. Plenty of spots in the garage/lot. The tickets to shows here are always reasonably priced but like most clubs they have a two item minimum purchase from the menu. We don't mind, the drinks are good and the food is like movie theater quality. Nothing to write home about but enough to write on yelp about We tend to just get the sampler and share it. A little heavy on the fried pickles but overall decent snacks. They have two rooms at this club, a smaller room and then the large one with the balcony. We've seen people perform in both and can genuinely say there's not a bad seat in this place. We usually get tables that are reserved but have been up in the balcony and feel the show is just as good from up there. The servers are quick and don't distract from the show. I attended the early show tonight and the performance itself was great. The comedians were funny, I ordered food and drinks during the show, and overall I had a really good time. However, the experience after the show ended was disappointing. I sat on a bench in the lobby to wait for my ride, which was about 7 minutes away, and was told I had to leave immediately because the next show was coming in. The way it was communicated felt very hostile, almost like a "get out right now, we don't care" kind of vibe, even though I wasn't causing any issue and was simply waiting safely for my transportation. As a single woman being told to go stand outside in the cold at night, it felt unnecessarily harsh and a bit unsafe. I understand they need to clear space for the 9 p.m. show, but a little empathy or flexibility for someone waiting just a few minutes for a ride would go a long way. I'd still come back for another show, but I hope situations like this can be handled with more courtesy and care for guests. The worst part about this... its my birthday weekend. read more

Well organized! Went for one of the "Funniest Person in Austin" shows. When we arrived we got our tickets and then they showed us to a table. Service was pretty good. There's a 2 item minimum, so I had the Southwest egg rolls and brownie sundae. Would recommend both, especially since other reviews said that the other food isn't as good!
