This is our first time at the new location in the Domain. Great venue feel and friendly staff! Drinks were also very good. Next comedy show I'll let you know if the food is any good. Recommend it for a fun evening

Last stop...date night... Damon Wayans Jr.! This comedian is known for his roles as Coach on New Girl and Brad Williams on Happy Endings. He delivered his sharp wit and charismatic stage presence to Capitol City Comedy Club on Saturday night (booked from Friday, January 16 through Sunday, January 18, 2026). Austin, TX was a part of his nationwide stand-up tour, which has been selling out venues across the United States. This was the first time Damon had visited Austin. According to the doorman, they had to add extra shows due to the high demand for the comedian. We had perfect balcony seats with full view of the comedian. I actually did not recall their being stadium like balcony seats, but was pleasantly surprised that they had the balcony. Wayans Jr.'s comedic set was a mix of observational humor (interacting with folks in the audience...one woman mistook him for his father. He playfully interjected humor regarding his mistaken identity.) Damon shared personal stories about his relationship and parenthood, some of the funnier parts of his comedy skit. His deft comedic timing is impeccable. His impersonations of Trump and Michael Jackson were spot on. He conveyed stories from his Hollywood experiences contrasted with relatable everyday humor. His comedic style toggled between thought provoking topics like civil rights, racism and political views to everyday, wholesome humor. Please note there is a two item minimum as part of the comedy club agreement. We bought chips and salsa, which was about the only thing Daniel fast compliant and had bottled water. Our server took our order pretty quickly and delivered just as quickly. Highly recommend his show!!! At times, I literally laughed so much that I had tears in my eyes. Sometimes throughout the evening I was cheering so loud, my hubs gave me the side eye. He's known me for 25+ years, so fortunately he knows me well. My hubs and I had such a fun, unique and uplifting evening...a delightful end to date night. Please note photography of the artists are not allowed.

I met my brothers and sisters-in-law for some laughs on a Thursday night. (1/22). We arrived around 6 PM and were seated immediately for the 7 o'clock show. The host at the check in for tables was in a mood but I'll chalk it up to a bad day. He was "grumpy" when we arrived and gave him our tickets. I mean just not very friendly for that position. My SIL and I left to go to the bathroom (thinking they might stamp us to get back in)...I asked the guy what we needed to get back in...he responded in the tone of a teenage snotty girl...uhhh your ticket (insert eye roll here- I don't know if he rolled his eyes but that was the tone) We both laughed it off as we went to get our tickets but it was quite rude imho. The tables are quite close together, so just a heads-up if that matters to you. We had a table for five on the floor, just behind the wall. At first, I was a little bummed we weren't closer, but it ended up being a great spot. At the old Cap City, there used to be a two-drink minimum, but now it's a "two-item" minimum--so no worries if you're not drinking. The show started right at 7. Both the opening act and headliner (Rhys Darby) were fantastic. My brother and SIL treated me, so I'm not sure about the exact prices, but I had a glass of wine and some boneless wings. The wings were decent, and the fries were okay. Parking was easy--there's nothing directly behind the venue, but nearby garages are close. I think live comedy is always a win. I'll definitely be back soon.

At the last minute me and a friend bought tickets to see Pinky Patel. She's hilarious on Instagram if you haven't heard of her. And she didn't disappoint on stage live in person. Cap City is a comedy club in The Domain. Tickets are bought online through their website. And you do have to buy 2 items. So 2 drinks. Or a drink and a food item. My friend and I both got a drink and a food item. I had the Sour Gummy cocktail, which I thought was really good. And I got the cauliflower buffalo bites. They came to me cold. Disappointing, But still edible. I did like the buffalo flavor. It was a little spicy.

We came here to see Kevin Smith and really enjoyed our time here. The place is very nice, parking garage is super close by and the bathrooms were spotless! I appreciate the multiple vegetarian options. The black bean burger was really good and the fries are top notch. I would definitely come back here again.

Cap City Comedy Club is conveniently located at the Domain so there's free parking. Closest garage would be the pink garage and it's about 4 min walk to here. Going in, they check your bags and IDs in order to hand out the physical tickets. My husband got tickets later and got them with the flash sale for $13. We came for the Leslie Liao show and got a great view! General seating is first come first serve and if you want to be seated as a group, you have to enter together. My friend was in a wheelchair so we had the opportunity to get a reserved table thanks to the staff! Host was really funny, and I wanted him to continue with his comedy, but the second opener came out and she really wasn't funny. One of my friends dozed off. But then Leslie Liao came back out and it was great again! As someone who's married, her jokes about couples being together and just scrolling through their phones and sending reels were so funny!! I knew coming into that they had a two-item requirement (you have to buy food or drinks from the menu). But, I didn't realize how expensive and mediocre the menu items were. Water is $5!! That's wild. I just got two juices to meet the minimum requirement. I didn't try the food, but I heard that they aren't that good so you may wanna eat beforehand if you are hungry. The server comes around every so often to make sure you order so it is enforced. Ordering at the bar before the show doesn't count towards the min requirement by the way. It was a bit cold, so I'm glad I brought a jacket. They have gender neutral restrooms inside. It was an enjoyable time!

This was a very pleasant experience! We laughed and enjoyed the stand up so much. Its so convenient now that they're located in the Domain. It's very central and trendy. We went to the early show, when we left there was a line of people for the later act. You need to come check it out and laugh your heart out. Its definitely worth it!

This was my first time at Cap City Comedy Club and it was a great visit. We went to see the comedian Sammy Obeid and it was one of the best standup acts I've ever seen. He was hilarious. We had reserved seating and got there early enough to be seated at the front of the stage. The club is very clean and looks like a typical comedy club. The staff are extremely friendly. I ordered fries and a cocktail and they were both good. Nothing to run screaming about but not bad either. I am not a fan of The Domain where the club is located. I just really hate the drive out and the hectic traffic. With that said, parking is free and so that's a bonus. Overall, it was a good experience.

Heather B.

I think this is a great venue for comedy performances. The larger room seems to have seating that gives each person a decent view of the stage. The menu is decent and the servers are attentive. It's located in the Domain, so there's free parking in any of the garages. My only complaint is about paying the bill. It is done during the performance with the server. The pad that is used shows automatic tip options starting at 18%. If you want to tip less, you have to truly stop watching the show and focus on the pad to make a change to the ticket. I didn't appreciate that. I'm certain 95% of people who aren't amazed by service will automatically just choose the 18% because it's easiest so they can get back to the show.

Chicken tenders and fries
Lydia H.

Overall, it's a good experience here. The venue is clean (but zero cell service in case you need to reach someone). I saw Gary Owen, who was fantastic. I do enjoy that the 2 purchase minimum applies to both food and drinks so I'm not forced to pay for overpriced NA drinks. I ordered the chicken tenders and fries. The chicken tenders were awful and I threw up after getting home from the show, but the fries were decent.

Natasha P.

My partner surprised me with tickets to see Sheryl Underwood. This would be my second time visiting the Comedy club. All my visits have been great. Great service, good food and a clean place. The servers are quick, efficient and friendly. As soon as we sat down, they took orders and we didn't have to wait too long for our food. Show was great, can't complain!

July 30, 2025 review ---- Attended Indian comedian Gaurav Kapoor show. Tickets were purchased in advance. For parking, you either have to go to a parking garage or parking close to true food kitchen. I'd check at entrance as usual but they don't allow to take water bottles inside. Snacks and drinks options were available during the show for purchase. No dedicated seating, it was more like first come, first get. Luckily we got a good table. As the show started AC got turned on and it felt like the cold air was coming directly facing us. We asked the management team to either change the temperature of that particular AC and nobody took any action even after multiple requests. Eventually we moved ourselves to an open area and view wasn't great but at least we were not shivering. Second point is about forced spending. It was listed on the ticket that we got during entry that you've to spend at least 10 dollar per person. This was not told to us during booking. We got drinks to spend money but would have been better if we were given some heads-up for that. Anyway show was great but management wasn't customer friendly m

Sunday marked a great one year with my current girlfriend and someone who means a lot to me. We had…read moreall these ideas on how to celebrate and spend time together, but the weather in the forecast really killed any ability to plan an outside adventure. Luckily, I had an ace up my sleeve and called an audible by suggesting the new Stranger Things: Catalyst experience at Sandbox VR. My girlfriend is a huge Stranger Things fan. It's one of the first shows she was following from the first season until the finale that she got to be a part of the zeitgeist with. The moment I suggested this, any other plan went out the window because to her, this was a must. This was not my first experience with a VR attraction. I got to try The Void when it was still in business at Disney Springs doing a Star Wars experience, and I remember having such a blast with it. This was my girlfriend's first time in a virtual reality space like this. Sandbox VR is the modern, surviving version of this doing a similar concept of suiting you up in a crazy VR suit with a headset, headphones, and a bunch of other bells and whistles before you enter a new world. The one thing that is different is that The Void had you walking through their space in their experience while here you're set in a box for the most part. Sandbox VR keeps you in one space for the entire duration and plays it out like a rail shooter arcade game. Different concepts, but both highly enjoyable. The staff were helpful in making sure we were all suited up and ready to go and we had our pictures taken right before they put us into the room. Once we had our headsets on, the experience started immediately. What's so fascinating about an experience like this is how immediate your brain just tells you that this is reality. You just believe what you're seeing is real. The avatar of my girlfriend is moving in real time, the catalyst is a tangible object I am holding. I am a Stranger Thing or whatever they call it. From the get-go, you are given a brief tutorial as a training and then suddenly the game goes from 0 to 100 and ramps up expeditiously. My girlfriend was hootin' and hollerin' the whole time as demogorgons (and democreatures as she calls them) were flying up on us and attacking us. You're genuinely in panic as these things get close to you. The anxiety feels real. The audio, the visuals, and everything in between just gets you immersed in it. The experience lasted about 30 minutes and by the end I was sweating profusely. I'm in pretty decent shape, but I was an absolute mess by the end. After all the equipment was taken off, we got sat next to a TV to show us our scores to see who leaves with bragging rights and is crowned the MVP (it was me by the way). On top of that, you are shown three videos of the VR experience that are recorded during your play. It scenes from the virtual world with a real camera that's pointed at you acting like a fool. Here, we got a dance scene from the end of the experience, a vertical video, and a horizontal trailer. Each were extremely humorous and given to us free of charge with our purchases. I know it works as free advertising for Sandbox VR to give you those videos to post online and all that jazz, but places like this still seem to charge for the memories. To get them included for free as a little keepsake is an incredible gesture and makes me want to try another experience. As for the videos themselves, they are still frying me, and I've watched them numerous times since the experience. If you are a Stranger Things fan, the Catalyst is a must-try. For someone who's only seen 3 episodes but has a good understanding of the show through osmosis from my girlfriend, I had a blast. Even if you're not a Stranger Things fan, there are 10 other experiences to try. The price with everything considered was pretty fair, and we truly had so much fun that I think it was worth it with what value we got out of it. The 20 second video we got of my girlfriend screaming the entire time might get played at our wedding one day. Who knows! RIYL: An experience out of this world

Well…read morethen you should sign up for the annual Austin 10/20 race to enjoy a beautiful spring morning race with about 3000 fellow music lovers that ends up in a concert at Domain's Central Park (near Burnet and Kramer, on the east side of the Domain). Your family & friends can come, too, so it's like a free concert for them. Here's what I loved about this event at the end of March 2015: + Starts and ends at the Domain, very nice for us Northsiders. No hauling myself to downtown Austin at the crack of dawn, and it's pretty easy for my special friend to drop me off pretty close to the starting chute without being mired in traffic. Exiting was a breeze, too. + Plentiful port-o-lets with TP and hand sanitizer around the start/finish festival and along the route. I never waited in a line and they were pretty clean (even after the race). + Mostly flat course through the Domain, Mopac service road, Burnet, and IBM campus, providing a few spectacular bluebonnet patch sightings. I now know exactly where I can access some great bluebonnets for family photo ops before they fade for the season. + 19 bands playing along the course and 1 headliner show for about an hour at the end of the race. Honestly, the bands along the course didn't make much of an impact for me, as I only was able to hear about 30 seconds of their performances as I ran by, but it still made for a fun atmosphere. The finish line festival, on the other hand, provided an incredible opportunity to get up close & personal to the rockin', high energy headliner duo, Black Pistol Fire. By the time they came on stage at 10:40a or so, 80% of the 3000+ runners and their cheering sections had already cleared out, leaving plenty of comfortable space at front & center on the grassy lawn viewing area. Frontman/guitarist Kevin McKeown came down from the stage & thrashed right in the appreciative crowd. It was awesome! + Registration comes with 1 post-race beer ticket and additionals were only $4. This is way better than other music show beer prices around this town. Thanks to TABC, we could not partake until after 10am, but the line to redeem those "free" beer tickets moved quickly once the beer stand opened. + Five featured charitable organizations with running teams. The 2015 featured charities were Without Regrets Foundation (assisting children with parental deaths); Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; Team Red, White & Blue (supporting wounded veterans); Alzheimer's Association; Team to End AIDS; and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. If you ran for these teams and meet their minimum fundraising goal, you received race support (like team gear, food, bevs, massages, and additional swag). + Cool pre-race expo for packet pickup at the HPBC Quarries Recreation Center. It wasn't as massive as the ones for the Austin Marathon or 3M or Cap10K, but there were plenty of vendor discounts & freebies available, as well as promotions for other upcoming races. Negative stars to the never-ending wind gusts in my face throughout the 2015 race, as well as the 2 giant blisters on my big toes I took home as a souvenir. 2015 Race Results: http://mychiptime.com/searchevent.php?id=8587 2015 Race Photos: https://www.marathon-photos.com/scripts/regist.py?event=Sports/CPUK/2015/Austin%201020

We spoke to our waitress who said it had been going on since 2:30 and the wait staff appeared to be annoyed.  She spoke to someone who said he could turn off the sound and we'd just hear vocals.  Which was true, for about 5 mins.  Then they sang a number to check their levels (it's now about 7pm).  They finally sat down for a break before they're officially started.  We were able to could continue with conversation asking to for our tickets around 8pm. We heard the first song, which was obviously well rehearsed, however you couldn't hear the vocalist over the bass guitar.  It seems if they are going to interrupt a happy hour for several hours to check levels, the levels should be spot on when it begins.   Again, I stress, this band has a perfectly wonderful sound.  Obviously well rehearsed and work together.  However, they're never ending sound check needs to be taken into consideration to business owners realizing that patrons will have to experience a cacophonous happy hour while the band sets levels which seems to lead to a bass guitar solo while the gifted vocalist's lyrics can't be heard.     I don't think the blame falls Completely on the group though (hence three stars instead of 1), the restaurant manager should have been more proactive in getting them under control.
