    The word alive

Had the pleasure of checking this spot several weeks ago for the Melrose Avenue/The Word Alive show. This is your typical biker dive bar which hosts a lot of metal shows here. Sound quality and stage setup are pretty solid; give credit to the equipment people for how it's all structured. There's also a bar for drinks although it's a $10 minimum if you're paying with your card. This place screams Austin metal scene all over it so remember that when you're somehow at this joint. Rock on!

    Amazing little venue!

This venue is amazing. I went to go see one of my favorite bands there that I hadn't seen in many years. And it was just a blast. Small, you can see the band right up front loud music, good radio system. The bartenders, there were amazing in and out. Get your drink quick so you can go in and enjoy the show. I don't know if they serve food here but maybe next time I go.I'll have to take a look. Definitely.I want this venue to bring a lot more good bands, so I can go out and see them here

Great venue for metal/rock. Always some touring musicians in the crowd. Everyone is extremely friendly. Don't skip the merch tables in the back. Staff is helpful and courteous. Plenty of parking in their lot. Seating is almost non existent.

Excellent sound and bar. I hope this venue stays in Austin forever. There is plenty of free parking if you're early to the show. My friend's truck got keyed, though, so maybe take rideshare here.

A metal music venue that simultaneously gives log cabin and biker bar vibes. Plenty of parking, good beer selection, their lineup of future shows displayed on screens throughout, and live camera feeds of the performance stage near the bar. There are three viewing areas: (1) the floor/pit, (2) a raised platform area in the back of the first floor that's great for petite concert-goers like myself that often have trouble seeing the stage when it's packed; and (3) a wrapped balcony on the 2nd floor. Sound quality is great, I'm not going to pretend like I'm an expert but their speakers and equipment allow for good audio balance. And there's an outdoor space for people to chill, drink, and smoke. Had a pleasant experience, and would visit again!

We've seen the Strumbellas here twice and truly don't know why more indie acts don't choose this spot over Stubbs. The stage itself is small but the sound system is great and while I don't LIKE it, I definitely understand why they charge for their elevated back bar area (deemed premium seating, at $40 a seat, you get a reserved spot to park it for your event and a great view of the stage). On site there's a hot dog stand and for sure this guy has his supply and demand system down. He smartly uses a fan to waft the mouth-watering aroma of grilled dogs all throughout the venue. Vegetarians need not respond but I would love to find any meat loving person who can go an entire concert here without buying a dog...I'm waiting lol Seriously though, for $10 the dogs are juicy, smothered in good stuff and they absolutely SLAP. Parking sucks but that's anywhere downtown. Street parking if you're lucky, otherwise, they do have an event parking deal with a fairly close parking garage.

This place is an Austin institution and one of the best places in the city to experience live music. This historic venue has been a local hangout for great music since the 1950s. The club was dimly lit with lots of stickers, graffiti, neon signage, paintings and interesting artifacts. While it has been a long time since I have been to the Continental club, it still felt truly Austin and very unpretentious. In the Continental Club you are literally I feet away from the live music. A dog was sleeping on stage, which made the place feel homey. The club is small and intimate, exuding a super personal persona. In addition, the sound quality is excellent for such a small venue. Tonight we listened to Hot Club Cowtown...they sounded folksy and a bit country western yet enjoyable to listen to. Folks were boot scooting, so maybe more country western. Mike the doorman was super personable and helpful. He happily provided the WIFI password and was super engaging. In addition, it is important to note the cover was free until 9 pm. The crowd was a mix bag...locals, tourists, and musicians who love live music. Austin is affectionately known as the "Live Music Capitol of the World". Great music...great time!

Great spot for music, you get up close with the band in their performance, I would recommend however to have some ear buds as some of the space can get really loud. The one of the bartenders was kind enough to just let me have some of their ear buds and that made the night so much better. Since it is down East 6th, parking can be confusing. I talked with one of the staff and she was nice enough to provide some suggestions. Now the elephant in the room, as I was having a conversation with the staff member the supposed manager pushed my hands out of the way and said "Don't get too close". I admit I was close to the member due to the loud music, but I really was just trying to find directions. Felt kind of like an abuse of power, "I can do this because I'm the manager" sort of deal. Soiled a could've been great night, but the music and the staff besides that particular manager are nice. With that said: Yes be wary of parking, the paid parking across the venue is very strict, but there is free parking near the cemetery that's about a 5 minute walk
