Def a great little spot for outdoor concerts. Not sure why more acts don't come thru here - it's smaller and more manageable than Stubbs and it has very nice bathrooms. We've seen the Strumbellas here twice and truly don't know why more indie acts don't choose this spot over Stubbs. The stage itself is small but the sound system is great and while I don't LIKE it, I definitely understand why they charge for their elevated back bar area (deemed premium seating, at $40 a seat, you get a reserved spot to park it for your event and a great view of the stage). On site there's a hot dog stand and for sure this guy has his supply and demand system down. He smartly uses a fan to waft the mouth-watering aroma of grilled dogs all throughout the venue. Vegetarians need not respond but I would love to find any meat loving person who can go an entire concert here without buying a dog...I'm waiting lol Seriously though, for $10 the dogs are juicy, smothered in good stuff and they absolutely SLAP. Parking sucks but that's anywhere downtown. Street parking if you're lucky, otherwise, they do have an event parking deal with a fairly close parking garage. read more

Went here to see Lights after her show was moved from Empire Garage, and had a great time! Very cool spot for a show. The box office just looks like a little shack, which was funny. We quickly went through security and got our tickets scanned. You can see from pretty much everywhere and the sound was good! We got there right before she started so we just found our spot in the crowd and stayed there the whole time. I will go back! It smelled like popcorn the whole time so I assume they have concessions. read more

They have a couple of bars and a kind of VIP area that costs extra. It's just a simple outdoor music venue that does what it should, provide the best show experience it can (and does) for attendees. This is a nice local venue :) as it appears, there is very little seating, it's pretty much just a big gravel lot with a small stage and some bars and limited high chairs/tables in the back. It was easy to get in and easy to get out though, and there is some free street parking in the neighborhoods so it's reasonably accessible! They had a cooler for water and were handing out cups during the show (like after the opener) because it was rather warm. I went to a concert where doors opened at 6:30, the main event started around 8, and it finished around 10:15. I was right at the front by the barrier, and my legs were quite achy by the end/I was leaning heavily on the barricade. That said, it's a fairly intimate venue, you're close to the performers and can see them clearly. I had a really good time! As you can imagine drinks are kinda expensive, like $9-12 for a can of beer, but that's all venues. read more

Scoot Inn is a casual outdoor music venue in East Austin. I definitely love the laid back vibes, great performers, and tickets are reasonably priced. Overall, the sound quality can be improved, the VIP seating area is not impressive, and the beverage/food options are extremely limited and overpriced. The "upgraded" seated viewing area does need improving. I would suggest they swap out the metal stools. And It would also be nice to have a preorder option for the seats. In my opinion adding fans and heaters would make the additional fees worth it. The new owners are looking to add more local food options which would be great! Watch for buy one get one sales around the holidays. Concerts always make great gifts! read more

Scoot Inn is a classic local live music venue in East Austin. On any given week/weekend, you can find great local bands or international touring groups. Recently, my boyfriend and I caught a show with Skeggs headlining. Overall, it was a good experience! There is a bar in the front and in the back, some seating that you have to pay for, a handful of free picnic tables (these fill up quickly), and a merch table. There is also a ton of standing room in the pit in front of the stage. The sound quality is good, and I love that they had free water stations in several places. Also, you can catch great shows for a pretty decently low price. Only knocking off a star because there was a very intoxicated girl sleeping sitting up at one of the picnic tables, and I brought this up with security twice (and saw others do the same several more times) in order to get her some help, but for over an hour nobody helped her. The staff were well aware of the girl needing help, but it was strange that they didn't act for so long. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by how much better the Scoot Inn was at hosting Medium Build this past Saturday. I had seen another artist here before and remember the drink prices being sky-high and the staff somewhat lackluster. This time around, though, Scoot Inn has won me over--it's now my favorite venue in Austin, Texas. If you struggle with lower back issues like I do, you'll appreciate the ample spots to lean against for some relief. There's plenty of water available, both inside and outside, which is a nice touch. While the website says smoking and vaping aren't allowed, it seems that's not strictly enforced. Mission Dogs is always available for a grub fix! I love Scoot Inn. I've been here for concerts, but my first time here was for a silent disco. It's a lovely vibe every time. It's an outdoor venue with a bit of space indoors to escape the heat or bugs or the crowds if you need it. One thing that really stands out to me is how clean this venue is? The outside tables and deck area are just cleaner than you would expect such a dusty sandy area to be. It's great, I feel fine leaning on a wall or even laying on the bench we're at. Staff is always friendly and quick to get your drinks out. There are bars both inside and outside so you can get a drink no matter where you decide to enjoy your time. Drinks are solid, nothing exceptional. Last time I was here there was also a guy selling hotdogs. I didn't get anything there. I'm happy to see a show here. read more

Scoot Inn is classic Austin. Right near the ever expanding east 6th area, it's starting to feel like a time capsule, and closer to catching a show in your friend's backyard makeshift stage. Don't expect any superfluous comforts or details, it's a barebones place. But that's part of the charm in a way. read more

This is a decent outdoor venue. I like the size, as it feels somewhat intimate but still large enough to host big artists. I like how accessible the bar and merch are. My one complaint is there's not a lot of prime locations with spots to sit or lean during a concert, and the floor itself isn't really inclined to aid visibility. If you get there early, you can grab a seat at the picnic tables, but many of them have their view blocked by the merch tent. The VIP section seemed like the way to go if you can afford it! read more

Went here last night to see some artists from back home The Green and Mike Love. Cool venue. We bought parking from the website for $12 it was right up the road in a parking garage. It was $15 if you didn't buy it ahead of time. Just wish there was a sign that it was for Scoot Inn. Being that we've never been there it took us a bit to figure it out. As far as the venue goes it was a cool spot. Workers there were nice. We didn't eat or drink anything so I can't review that. But other than that great spot sound/speakers were great. Looks like they had an upper deck to grab drinks and food as well. We'll be back in a couple of months to see another artist. read more

I'm someone who was born and raised in Austin and can you believe that I've never been to Scoot Inn before (pauses for dramatic effect & gasp) ...I know, shocking right?!! But no worries, I can now say that the above statement is no longer true because I attended my very 1st event held at the Scoot Inn over the weekend on 9/7/2019. :)) I attended the "End of Summer Silent Disco" event that was put on by Quiet Events... partying in silence is kinda my jam right now :). For sure the Silent Disco events are so much fun BUT I also wanted to give feedback on Scoot Inn. Since sharing is caring here are a few of my "Fyi (s)" and "Like(s)".. FYI: -Parking Situation: There's a parking lot located right next to Scoot Inn but it is pay to park via the parking machine. There is also street parking w/ the parking meters & since we were there on a Saturday night so we only had to pay a little over a $1 because parking is free once it's 12pm midnight -Security: we noticed that there were lots of security posted inside and outside of Scoot Inn, including a cop posted outside of Scoot Inn on the night we went & when you 1st go in the security person at the front entrance used a metal detector wand to check everyone who came in. Likes: -I really liked that Scoot Inn had an indoor area AND outdoor area so you could cool off in the AC inside or chill on the very comfortable couches and seating they had inside. There is also a bar, restrooms, and TV's inside. The outdoor area has a stage and open dance area (fyi-dance area was dirt so your feet/shoes will get dusty & dirty) and there are more restrooms outside, which I totally appreciated! And a bar area and more seating outside as well. There were also a few awesome photo walls for those Yelp and Insta photoshoots :))! My hubby wanted me to let y'all know that the beers were priced on the high side.. thankfully, I'm a light weight so I only need 2 drinks to make me feel a little bit prettier. ;). My daughter and I attended UMI's 'Forest in the City Tour' and this was my first time at this venue. The customer service was great!!! My service wasn't loading and the lady at the door connected me to WiFi to download my tickets. Secondly the bartender was so sweet and double checked to see if a frozen drink I was interested in was still available. I loved the outdoor setup. The trees provided the perfect shade and the sound was amazing. It was extremely humid but that's ATX once the sun set the breeze was nice. read more

I was walking down East 4th Street from downtown following a bunch of millennials wondering where they were headed to. I ended up at the Historic Scoot Inn. From the outside looked more like an old horse stable. An event was going on so I got in line to enter. After security I received a free stainless steel cup and proceeded inside to find an outdoor stage with people standing watching them. The band was called Cha Wa and was rocking the crowd. I walked towards the back where the whole place was a decomposed granite surface where can't imagine being here during wet conditions. I found a restrooms and a Harley-Davidson display with a few bikes. There is a raised deck in the back with a bar and on this day creating temporary tattoos. The cup was used to have the bartender fill it up with a drink of your choice. From back there you can see the stage which is not huge but big enough fir this place. I stayed until the band was done. This place is not huge but reminds me smaller venues I been too in small towns and feels like it you are not in the downtown district. I have not idea where to park but I would at the convention center and either walk, scooter or pedicab your way here. I definitely will return where this place definitely has character and bring others here to experience it. read more

I came to Scoot Inn for the first time to see 'Nothing But Thieves' perform live. I had purchased the early-entry package so I could try and get a good spot to see them. Up until the day of the concert, I never received any details in my e-mail about when the doors would be open for those with early-entry packages. A comment to their post in the Facebook event page left unanswered. I only found out minimal details from another concert goer who responded to my Facebook comment. On the day of the concert, I came in early (door was scheduled to open at 8 pm and I arrived around 6:30 pm) and waited in line. As it turned out, the line was a mix of those with early-entry package and general admission. My attempt to find out where the early-entry line was, was futile. None of the staffer inside the bar knew what was going on and the security people outside couldn't provide any answers either. It was until around 7:15 pm-ish someone asked us to move toward the front. I only found out that the show was running late when the security staff finally came out to start scanning the tickets and I overheard one of them telling another concertgoer that the band's bus was having issues that delayed their arrival. I wish someone from management would have made this announcement instead of having us questioning "what's going on?" Once the doors opened, I decided against standing by the stage but instead opted to take a seat on the bar deck. the deck is elevated so nobody could block your view, and the venue is small enough that I was still able to have an excellent view of the performance. And plus, the bar was only a few steps behind me so I wouldn't have to worry about not being able to get drinks. the sound quality wasn't too bad at all. The speakers were on the smaller size, but they were enough for a venue of this size. The drink prices were very reasonable. Definitely a lot cheaper than much larger concert venues - you can get mixed drinks for around $7. As I came in earlier, parking wasn't too hard to find. I was able to park about a half a block away from the venue. But do know that you have to pay for on the street Monday through Saturday up until midnight. However, at $1/hr, I only had to pay around $5 so it wasn't bad at all. I definitely wouldn't mind catching another concert here at Scoot Inn. I do wish that management would be more responsive and up front about details of any special packages or any delays. read more

The outdoor stage here is WAY too low and makes for a very disappointing concert experience. I've been twice hoping to see some of my favorite bands, but unless you're very tall or very close, all you can see is other people's heads for hours. The stage is also next to a loud train, which sometimes interferes with the set. And because the stage is near a neighborhood/ apartment complex, they have strict noise limits and quiet hours, which detract from the concert experience. We brought earplugs expecting the band to be loud, but in actuality, the speakers were pretty weak and-as other reviewers have mentioned-very midrange-y. So a lot of the time it sounded like muddled, rock soup, hard to pick out each of the instruments. Both concerts ended promptly before 10. You're lucky to get a single encore song. There are much better venues in Austin. read more

Iconic venue in east Austin. Most recently I came here to see Peter McPoland on a sold out night and it was a blast. The outdoor space is fairly small which means there's not a bad seat in the house! There's nothing that feels more Austin than sipping a cold one while enjoying an outdoor concert under the stars. Pro-tip: the metro rail has a station just around the corner from here. If you live near a metro rail station I suggest taking the train for a super easy night out. read more

I think I'm a little bit in love. This is the perfect little music venue with so much of an Austin feel. Tucked away on the East side you could just walk right up and walk right in and there's the band playing. It had a homey vibe and it was cool to see people just hanging out inside while a band played outside. The bartenders were quick and friendly, bathrooms were super clean even later into the evening. It was easy to get a ride share after the concert ended. All in all a great experience. read more

First time coming here for a concert. It was great, the venue and stage are wide enough that you can see your favorite artist and feel like you are so close! It was supposed to be a rainy day according to the forecast but it turned out great, decent food, good drinks so it was great. Just make sure you check for parking, there's one right next to the venue and it's $7 on weekdays but if it was full of cars, then you may need to walk more. read more

Love coming to see live shows here. This was my fourth time here to see various artists, and it's quickly becoming one of my new faves. Unassuming lil spot. (Since 1871!!) with a great outdoor stage, a bit of outdoor seating, and lots of open space. The sound is always rocking. Lots of room to mingle and dance. Two bars normally, one inside and outside. Great pours and a good selection of NA choices. I enjoyed that cold brew yesterday! I love ducking inside to cool off a bit, lots of plush seating and chill atmosphere. You can also still hear the concert as you take a break, check your phone, or visit the powder room. Only con: it's located in a neighborhood and parking is hard to come by. Even when it's a billion-and-twelve Texas degrees outside, The Historic Scoot Inn is easily one of my favorite places to see a show in Austin. The sound has been *fantastic* for each show I've attended here (and if you're taking the time and money to support live music - which EVERYONE should do, IMHO - isn't the sound really the most important part?) There's a neat elevated deck area around the back of the small outdoor venue, if you're not of the mind to be right up in front of the stage. There's usually a food truck. And...superextrabonustime...Scoot Inn has an awesome (for a venue) craft beer selection! Sweet!! This place is a really neat live music venue. I went there for the first time last weekend and saw Shane Smith and The Saints and Flatland Cavalry. Their restroom facilities were pretty good to handle such a large crowd. They had a couple of bars and were able to keep up with the big crowd. The drink prices were high, ($6-$7 beers for tall boys), but they had some cheaper options if you want to drink Lone Star. The wind whipped through there that night and so it got chilly, but it was a great place to see a concert and the audio was good and it wasn't hard to see the stage. I would definitely go back. It is downtown so the parking is limited, use a rideshare would be my recommendation. read more

This is the first venue I've been to since moving to Austin and I completely fell in love with it. As a musician myself, I genuinely appreciate low key spots like this - it makes me feel more connected to the artists. When I visited a few weeks ago, it was around 90 degrees out with a nice breeze. I was in the back of the crowd to avoid getting caught up (I'm only 5 feet tall lol) but honestly, I think I preferred that to being up front. It's walking distance to a bunch of delicious restaurants. My boyfriend and I stopped for sushi before the show over off of 6th. The walk from there to the venue was 10-15 minutes at most. The ambiance was really chill but so beautiful with the string lights. I'm specifically looking for more concerts happening at this venue, that's how much I loved it. :) read more

I was so excited to go here for the first time last night to see Charley Crockett. My boyfriend's cousins are huge fans, and have seen his concerts several times. We went with a big group - 12 in total. 6 of us are Asian. Three of my friends ordered 4 rounds of drinks (beers and mixed vodka shots) for our entire group. I only had 2 mixed vodka shots the entire time. But soon after, the bartender told my friend that they're "cutting you *and your whole group* off from drinks." What did the "whole group" entail? It meant all of the Asians. I completely understand that bartenders have discretion in managing drinks and ensuring that people are having fun in a safe and non-disruptive way. I completely understand that those might be tough conversations - especially if people are too drunk and rowdy. This was clearly not the case here, where we were happily eating hot dogs and listening to music in the back. It was a great venue and concert, but it was completely ruined by the racist staff. Music has the potential to bridge divides - whether it be race or politics - but this space destroys that possibility. read more

*Deceitful Business Practices!* The Jamestown Revival is playing tonight (8/17/19) and Ian Noe was supposed to be opening. -I checked the Scoot Inn's calendar today and Ian Noe was not listed. The Scoot Inn did not announce this on their website. -I checked Ian's Facebook page and he made a post *four* days ago saying all Texas dates were cancelled due to a medical emergency. If you look on Facebook right now you will see people frantically trying to sell their tickets to the show tonight. Many, including me, bought tickets just to see Ian Noe. That is deceptive business on The Scoot Inn's part. They knew the minute Ian Noe had to cancel and could have posted it on their website but they chose not to. Perhaps they don't realize that some people don't always go to see the headliner and they should treat all fans of all bands listed equally. The Scoot Inn did not side with the fans and seem to be only interest in ticket sales, not actual attendance. I will rethink attending any shows there in the future. read more

Our family came from all over Texas after months of planning to see The Record Company live. My brother was aggressively kicked out for taking a sip of an alcoholic drink that our father had. We were under the impression that by TABC law, a minor was allowed to drink while under the supervision of their parent. My brother and father were, unknowing to them, followed by security who watched as he took this sip of alcohol. After the venue explained they did not allow this minor drinking rule, he apologized and agreed to correct his behavior, and was still treated very disrespectfully by staff (and still kicked out). The venue was nice, but we will NOT tolerate the amount of inhospitality and understanding that we experienced. read more

I love the clean, well swept and spacious outdoor patio and stage area under the trees and beneath the overhead shade panels. But, as much as we've been struggling with this blissful domestic path to Yuppieville, nothing could have prepared us for the all-out assault on our sense of cool that happened at the Scoot Inn about two weeks ago. It was the Second Sunday Sock Hop. Our friends were visiting from NYC for SXSW and we're twisting the night away on the outdoor patio. Some cute little hipster gal dancing next to me points to her wrist and asks me, "Excuse me, do you have a dime?" Huh? Do I have a dime? "No, sorry, I don't have any change," I say, confusedly patting my pockets. No, no, she says, "Do you have a dime?" again, pointing at her wrist. Huh? No, sorry. Do you want the time? I pull out my pretentious iPhone, "see, look, it's 1:07 AM." Growing aggravated, she repeats, "NO!! DO YOU HAVE A DIME?!" Huh? What? At this point, my boyfriend chimes in and we're both like, "No, sorry! We promise we don't have any change!" Looking at us like we're the daftest people on earth, she practically yells, "No! It has a DIFFERENT meaning!" Ohhhh!!! You're talking about drugs! Oh!! Duh! My boyfriend and I fumble. Shit! Drugs?! Do we have any drugs? Remember those drugs we used to have? Like, ten years ago? Ya, THAT'S what she's talking about! Finally, we figure things out and manage to tell her, no, in fact, we do not have any drugs although we're pretty sure she's figured that shit out by now. God. We suck. We're so uncool. We slink away and despair "WTF happened to us?!" We console ourselves by saying that at least we still look cool enough to do drugs. We dance. We tell our friends. They laugh themselves silly. But, we're still feeling unsettled. I mean, Jesus, we used to do MOUNTAINS of drugs! Tugboats filled with drugs! More drugs than is healthy! This is still my favorite bar in all of Austin. Last week they had Chuck Palahniuk do a book reading. They still book kick ass bands on their outdoor stage. They still play random documentaries and foreign films on their movie screen. They still have the black cat who hangs out both inside and outside the bar named Mr. Cat who will only let you pet him on his terms. Did I mention they have Brewskeeball? This is a seasonal, skeeball tournament of teams and individuals where the top roller goes to New York City to compete in the finals which awards the winner with an over size beer stein. If you don't want to get that serious you can put in a quarter or two and just play your own private game of skeeball. The bathrooms are still gross, the whore-house-like red wallpaper is still peeling, the drinks are still poured heavy and they still offer great beers. It is still the oldest bar in Texas. In other words, Scoot Inn is still awesome. read more

Cons: Inconsistent hours of operation, Indifferent customer service, absolutely no communication in regards to lost & found items. My husband and I went to Scoot Inn for the first time last night for a concert and were very disappointed. We bought our tickets back in May and have checked all the different emails and tickets where it was stated that doors open at 7PM and concert starts at 8PM. We showed up at 7:45PM to a line down the street and were told that doors don't open until 8PM. This was a major communication issue. Then, I'm not quite sure if this is a problem with the venue or the bands, but between bands it took 30-45min to switch out. This was an obscene amount of time. It also caused the last band which we were there for to not start until 11:48PM, which felt entirely too late. Both the earlier bands also complained to the audience that they were having audio issues. Again, not sure if venue or band, but it just added to the negative experience of the night. Finally, once the band we paid money to see came on stage we pushed our way to the front of the crowd. We were three people back and could not see the band. This is definitely an issue with the venue. The stage was too low. You had to either be in the very back on the deck or right up next to the stage to see the band. This was the very disappointing cherry on top of the evening. We waited all night long through many disappointments to not even be able to see the band. They sounded great! I enjoyed listening to them, but at that point I should have just stayed home and blasted them on my stereo. read more

Stopped in for a drink shortly after they opened after day drinking on the east side. Shane Smith and the Saints were sound checking so it was cool to hear them for a bit. The inside was a lot classier than I expected, a baby grand piano, leather chairs, nice sofas and cool decor giving a nice lounge environment. The outdoor area is a good size making for a great place to listen to live music. Sam and Taj were friendly and helpful. Will be back for a show soon. read more
