Something different when passing through Barstow. The place is clean and friendly. I had the lemon chicken with white rice (one of the lunch specials). Just fine on quality and flavor. Stopped by on our way to Big Bear and to say it was the biggest disappointment in Chinese food yet! The menu was overwhelming with over 100 items on the menu. We started off with Dumplings, fried shrimp, and pot stickers. The dumplings were watery and tasteless, the fried shrimp was more breading than shrimp, and the potstickers were also flavorless. Family ordered broccoli beef, teriyaki chicken, chicken curry and steak. The chicken curry was very chewy and tasted like rubber. The chicken teriyaki was flavorless and teriyaki sauce only made it 5% better, the beef and broccoli was maybe the most somewhat decent plate, but the fried rice was a disgrace. We left most of our food on the plates due to how inedible it was. Paid close to $200 to leave just as hungry as when we arrived. Poor excuse of a "Chinese Restaurant". I would worry less about offering 100 different items and worry more about perfecting the food featured on the walls. Will never step foot here again. read more

So we are on our way home from Vegas and we had been craving and planning to go get soup dumplings all weekend long but never made it. On the way home, we look up to see if we can find any places that might sell them and we find Canton. It was about 8:15 PM and we knew we were not going to get there until about 8:35 so we called and asked if they would stay open and they said "no problem". They never rushed us out either. First, we knew this was not your typical Chinese restaurant when we noticed the two guys at the next table eating a hamburger and sharing a plate of fried rice. We knew exactly what we wanted so we were able to order pretty quickly. Thanks to Yelp!, we saw that Sunday's special was shrimp and walnut sauce, which is one of our favorites and so we ordered that and it came out quickly as an appetizer. Our meal was a variety of appetizers [yeah, I get it; we got the meal as the appetizer and the appetizer as our meal]. But the Dim Sum states that it takes about 15 minutes while the shrimp and walnut came out quickly. We ordered a couple of pork shumai, one steamed shrimp dumpling, crab Rangoon and of course the soup or "juicy" dumplings. So the question is "how good was the Dim Sum". Well I live in the San Gabriel Valley so I can say that I have had better but we were all very happy with our food. In fact, everyone in our group said that we have to come by on our trips to Vegas more often. read more

Visited the Canton restaurant for launch the day before Christmas. The food was good and the customer service was exceptional.

The cups were dirty and the chicken that I had ordered was slimy looking. Back then they definitely had it better made. The service was pretty fast. Although there was nobody in the place. It looked pretty creepy and weird looking in there because of the colors and I ate there in the afternoon. The back of the place was empty to that's why I said it was creepy. I would not recommend this place but very nice people! read more

There is like a smell that hit you once you walk in and the bathroom is not clean and smell so bad . The food was bland to be honest . The egg drop soup doesn't taste like egg drop soup more like a chicken noodle soup . The Singapore noodles taste bland and to much curry flavor that was it . The drinks was good I give that for that instagrams look . I would get the egg rolls they was good and fresh. The service was nice but the food wasn't. This was the first visit at Canton Restaurant. I have to say, the owner is very friendly and likes to make sure you're taken care of (kind of). But, it doesn't help they only had one waitress and she looked overwhelmed. After a while, we sat without a refill for quite some time. The owner was walking around chatting with regulars rather than help the waitress. Finally I got the attention of our waitress and finally got refills. The food was very tasty and has the authentic flavor I was looking for. The only problem is the chicken chop suey had WAY too many bean sprouts. It was so much that I was almost choking on every bite. Portion sizes are generous as well. We will return because the quality of food and I believe their lack of help is due to Covid. Canton Restaurant has the potential for four stars with a little help. Other than that, I fully recommend this amazing restaurant if you love the taste of real Chinese flavor. read more

My husband, sister , and I stopped here for a late lunch on a Sunday while driving home from Vegas . It was the only Asian restaurant open . We ordered jalapeño chicken, shanghai noodle , and dumplings. Surprisingly, the dishes tasted authentic and delicious too . Stopped by here, by recommendations on Yelp on the way to Texas. Food was delicious. Staff was very friendly. Overall the place was in need of updating. I think he got stuck in the 70s. For Chinese food in the middle of no where this place hits the mark. For the other types of food on the menu not sure I didn't try it. I just found out this place DELIVERS! Sure they haven't worked all the kinks out but they make it good very quickly! I plan on trying everything on the menu, food is pretty good, some is outstanding, it's all a matter of taste. I like bolder flavor so add to, where mom can't handle spice so perfect for her. Been going to Canton sence l was a young child. The food and service had always been very good.

Went for breakfast a couple months ago and it was great BUT, today we went after Church and my daughters omelet was half cooked but was replaced (5stars), the hash-browns were cook with old oil(disappointed) but the worst part was the servers (Jenny) attitude / disrespect towards customers and lack of attentiveness towards seated customers. A young (30's) male came from the back and was the best greeter and help to us all who were seated. read more

En route from Redlands, CA to North Las Vegas, I decided to revisit for dinner this rather unique restaurant that I mainly used to frequent for lunch while trying cases in the Barstow courthouse over 20 years ago. I found that, although booths in the dining room had been reupholstered for the better, both building and food were much the same as before. Canton's menu still juggles Cantonese cuisine with a full American menu that even includes grilled steaks. But for me, it was the sliced fresh chicken featured in some Cantonese dishes that brought me back. After opening with a generous serving of Wor WonTon Soup that sported many fine hot tightly wrapped pork-filled wontons, sliced chicken, succulent shrimp, some slices of pork, and tasty broth but unfortunately utilized canned Wood Ear Mushrooms, I tried Bo Lo Guy Pan for the first time. This pleasing wok-fired dish featured sliced all-white meat chicken with no gristle or fat, combined with pineapple, Water Chestnuts, Bok Choy, Napa Cabbage, other fresh vegetables, and sliced almonds. To accompany this delicious entree, a platter of Ham Fried Rice was prepared just as before--with chunks of real ham. Hot Tea was of the standard variety but served nicely to help wash down all food. Meanwhile, Diane enjoyed an order of Fish & Chips, and took one of two large fish fillets home for lunch. I, too, walked away with enough leftovers to supply a filling lunch two days later. This afternoon I went to Canton for a late lunch/ early dinner and was served by the most inattentive waitress of all time. My dinner was served to me by another customer,never got my iced tea refilled and it took four requests to receive my extra gravy. I have been a customer for over 50 years thru diffrent owners and this time most likely is my last. I have never seen this waitress in there before and she was either under the influence of drugs or just plane inattentive. I left her no tip because the idea of a tip is service which she never gave If I go there again and she is working I am immediately leaving never to return. read more

The food was just ok, nothing to brag home about. Our waiter looks stressed out and he's very annoyed when we ask for extra stuff. He didn't even come back to check on us. The lady in the front who sat us down was nice enough to take our photo. She saw that I was trying to take a picture of our group. The food here is absolutely great. Pork Lo mein was delicious as was the beef bak choy and we had the prime rib dinner as well. I'm under the impression that they maybe understaffed which is possibly why we experienced lengthy waits between service. This is a place I will see myself ordering takeout often. read more

Decided to take Dad to lunch there today, bad experience, from dirty tables( at 11am) to dirty menus. Menu I opened up had a hair. Had to go to the car for my Clorox wipes and wipe both table and menu down. As I came back to the restaurant, the glass door was also full of nasty fingerprints. I asked for two waters with some lemon, about ten minutes later, they came to the table asking if I had ordered salads, I said no but still waiting on water. Water was delivered in some plastic mugs that looked as if they had been in storage for over a year, full of water stains. Placed an order for shrimp fried rice and two egg rolls, and watched as the restaurant slowly began filling up. I began noticing others that arrived after me have their orders delivered before me. I decided enough was enough when the people in front, who had arrived after me, had their orange chicken delivered. That was the determining factor, I stood up and told them I was leaving, never again Canton. Casey Chism you were absolutely correct, I won't be returning ever.
