To my knowledge, there aren't a lot of good Chinese restaurants in El Segundo, so I was pretty excited to eat here, even though reviewers gave it 3 stars. Perhaps it was what I ordered, but this place is just okay. It's definitely an older restaurant, and I think the menus even say that they've been around since the 70's! I made it just before the Lunch Menu ended and ordered the Sweet & Sour Pork. It came with soup, rice, and a salad. Soup - I was asked if hot and sour soup was okay, but I hate hot and sour soup, so I asked if that was my only option. Glad I did, because I ordered the egg flower soup. Otherwise, no soup for me. There were no carrots or peas in the soup, which is how I like it. Just add some white pepper and it was perfect. Salad - It was just lettuce and some type of dressing. Forgetful. Some pieces tasted funny. Rice - Option for steamed or fried, and I chose steamed. Sweet & Sour Pork - I wish I had asked for the sauce on the side, because it was just drenched in sauce. The sauce just made the pork really soggy, and I like a little crunch. I don't care too much for the bell peppers, but they weren't so bad. I liked the pineapple though. Still, too much sauce! I really wanted to like this place, because I wanted to come back on my lunch. The service was good, food came out quickly, and the price wasn't so bad. Maybe I will and try the noodle soup, since I read a couple of good reviews on it. We'll see. read more

The most authentic type of Chinese restaurant you are going to find in El Segundo. It's a real Chinese restaurant that are owned by a Chinese family that speaks Chinese. If you compare this restaurant to one of the many Chinese restaurants you find in Torrance, San Gabriel, Cerritos, Westminster, this restaurant would be lowest on the list. If you just chill out and just want some authentic Chinese food in El Segundo, this place is great. My favorite dish is the Kung Pow Chicken Lunch Special with some hot sauce on the side. I don't care for the salad because the dressing is just way too sugary. The Kung Pow Chicken is favorful, cooked the way most people make it and it has peanuts. Yay! For having such low reviews, this place is packed during lunch time special their lunch special is a such a great deal and they have a weird steep parking lot in the back. TL;DR Sweet & Sour Chicken good. Orange Chicken bad! Lo Mein = Chow Mein here. Usually when you order Chow Mein you get noodles, but here you have to order the Lo Mein if you want noodles. Came back and had the Kung Pow chicken, which was ok. Decided to bump the review up to a two star. Something I really appreciated: I forgot a personal item at the table and the waiter chased me down the street to return it. What a nice guy. Another star! In short, the food here might not be great, but this time it was decent and the servers were all polite. Really appreciated the person who chased me down just to return my belongings. If you're reading this, thanks again! We received the soup right away and we enjoyed the hot and sour soup. We didn't get the appetizers of egg rolls and won ton until the main course and they had way to much breading on them and the grease tasted old. The main dishes we ordered of Mongolian beef, chicken and cashew nuts and beef with pea pods had no flavor. The meat used was of low quality and the chicken dish tasted fried. The chicken low mein and the fried rice was ok! Not the type of Chinese food I'm used to. The kids that were with us didn't like any of it. So hard to find home style authentic consistently great quality Chinese food, so happy my mother in law suggested it--she'd been going here for ages and held out on us! We got take out and it lasted a good few meals even though we ate a lot. The only thing to look out for is if you have dietary restrictions it's hard to get info on ingredients on the phone. The only Chinese food in downtown El Segundo, but it's all the city needs. Excellent string beans, wor wonton soup, general tso's chicken, and mongolian beef. If you have never had their string beans, you are missing out!! They're always cooked perfectly and come in an addicting garlic/soy sauce. I just make a meal of the soup and beans when ordering take-out. Coupons are always readily available for 15-20% off dine in or take out orders and the prices are reasonable to begin with. So we never eat Chinese food even though we love Chinese food. Both of us have lived other places where it's so much better that we can barely stomach it here. My husband refuses to get food from this place so when I happened to walk by during lunch hours today and saw it was packed I threw caution to the wind and ordered up a lunch special. The number one...Sweet and sour pork. Service was gruff and abrupt. I thought it was a great deal around seven dollars for soup, salad, egg roll, wonton, fried rice, and entree. It was in fact a lot of food. Too bad that except for the egg drop soup which was excellent (not too thick like most we've tried in this area) it all tasted old. Wilted lettuce, not fresh meat, dried out rice with hardly any egg or veggies in it. The batter on the pork was so heavily fried it tasted like fair food. Sigh... I had dinner here a few nights ago and have been meaning to write a yelp review. It was delicious just like I remembered. My favorite dishes here are orange chicken, hot and sour soup, garlic string beans, Kung pao chicken, and lemon chicken. Its time to stop eating at these restaurants that use styrofoam!!!! This was so hot the fish with black bean sauce melted to the styrofoam food box below it. Canton Low is one of those hole in the wall establishments. I probably would've never stepped foot into this place if it wasn't for my friend Eric L. I go here each time im near LAX. From the outside Canton Low may seem like any other Chinese restaurant. You know the saying "Never judge a book by its cover.." well thats pretty much what Canton Low is all about. but once you pass through their heavy glass swinging door, you will be bombarded by the lovely aroma coming from their kitchen. Closest thing i can relate this to is for example when you pass by an In N Out where the aroma of their food literally just hits you in the face. YUMM right?? Their food is served QUICK and HOT. I ordered the baked pork chop rice and my friend Eric ordered some Beef Chow Fun. When my order arrived i could see the cheese still bubbling... thats when you know the food is HOT OUT OF THE OVENN!!. my first bite was so orgasmic it was nearly indescribable. All i can say is that the food here is to die for!!! its THAT gooooood! The only bad thing is that they are closed on Sundays. There has been times where I would be craving Canton Low after church services. read more

Canton Low have been feeding me for a long time now, and they have never been anything but really good to great, but at the moment with and craziness going on amidst Covid_19 pandemic, they are bloody awesome! The delivery driver who came today to my door which was open for the breeze but had my wire door locked, he asked after my health and when I told him that I was a little sick and so to be safe he should just leave the food at the door, he said "Ok if you are sure. I'm sorry you aren't feeling well, please look after yourself and let us know if you need anything".. I don't know his name, but that made me happy and honestly a little emotional. Given the terrible things certain people have been saying about the Chinese people because of the Corona Virus outbreak, and then ridiculously taking their frustration out on American Chinese people, it was so nice that he was genuinely concerned about me and how I was feeling.
